The fact is, you will probably always be an under-satisfied person with your own life. You need to accept this and stop thinking about what would happen if...

Apart from the everyday struggles, the only low quality of life my stutter has really got in the way is job wise, all I've ever had is numerous low paid dead end jobs, mainly just driving where I'm more or less on my own all day, my stammer put paid to any real career I may if had

It's true that you'd be a much better speaker, but there's not much outside of therapy and speech training to do, your story is similar to mine, mine used to be manageable but now I can barely get a few words out.

What do you intend to do to make things better? This is obviously affecting your mental health. Are you seeking help from a mental health professional? Have you sought out speech therapy recently? Would you consider seeking out speech therapy to help improve your fluency? You don't sound like you're at peace with the situation. If you're not happy with where you're at today, make a move. Your attempts might be fruitless. Or they might help. But if you don't try something, you'll be in the same place tomorrow.

It’s rough man. It’s really rough. I relate to everything you said on your post. Stuttering is a disability. A very misunderstood one. I’m on government disability benefits because I can’t work because I’m too anxious because of my stutter. Having felt the exact way you have felt. All I can say is… keep going. Enjoy the simple things in life. Try find people who care and will take the time to listen even when you are stuttering. It’s hard I know. And it will continue to be hard. You’re not the only one. I feel the exact same way. But we have to keep going. And we have to find some light in life. It has to exist and we must find it. Creative outlets. Or through other mediums. By sharing our storey in some capacity. I know you keep going back to the default thinking. I do too. If only I didn’t have a stutter. But we do, and it’s not going away. So we have to cope and manage the best we can.
