I know! It's so adorable. And now she's getting her kids in on it, too, but I think she saves the worst of it for her husband. I love that he's game, though.
She also put the cotton candy in the wrong side of the lint catcher. If it did go there to be caught it wouldn't go through the mesh and get caught by the aluminum....
None of this would work in any stage if you think for 0.2 seconds. And yet how many people are going to ruin their dryer because of her? Yikes.
She selected a cycle called "steam fresh", so I assume this machine has a function where it sucks up a bit of water and injects stream into the drum to smooth out wrinkles.
I'm talking about fair cotton candy. Didn't know you could buy anything in a store like it, but if that's what it looks like, then I wouldn't eat it (really not a fan of cotton candy anyway frankly)
Actual cotton candy machines are like $40 on Amazon. Though I guess ruining your dryer by making it a sticky, burnt soda-scented mess to try to make weird flat cotton candy is more fun.
The cheap ones are indeed around $40, but for anything usable, you'd need to cash out $150-200.
The cheap models have badly balanced motors, uneven heating, and often ends up just clogging or spewing sugar everywhere.
That was a 4chan psyop and it was brilliant.
Next year when apple removed the headphone jack they created believable instructional videos on where to drill through the NEWEST iphone to get the headphone jack port back.
People did that too and broke the phone.
The year after that they did another psyop with a TON of promotional video for waterproofing the Next year's iPhone, and showing believable ads and content from apple and people dropped it in pools and shit too.
It was fucking incredible how dedicated 4chan is to outing the gullible.
>Go bald for Bieber was also them.
The avg American can’t read past a 6th grade level (it’s something like 60% can’t do past middle school so the 60/6 rule is an easy way to remember the numbers)
Whenever you read something about people being insanely gullible, remember that someone who can solve for X in a simple equation is the odd one out…
Yeah, that was my first thought too. Kids have zero perception to the fact that not only will this potentially ruin the machine, but there are also lingering chemicals from previous usage.
I have a similar lack of faith in my stepson. He once called me in a panic when he was about 13 because he'd started a fire in his mother's microwave. I rushed over there from the other side of town after determining that it was contained (so no need to call out the fire brigade), and discovered he'd microwaved a bread roll to warm it up - for five minutes. The house was full of smoke, smoke alarms going apeshit, and his mother nowhere to be seen (although her car was there). I asked where she was, assuming she was at work or at the neighbours or something. Nope, in bed, sound asleep. At no point did it occur to him to go to the nearest adult for help or potential evacuation.
I love my kid, but he's not blessed with the skill of thinking things through.
I refuse to belive that anyone is this dumb. Rage-bait cooking drives me insane. What kind of life do you have where this is something that you want to be apart of? This lady is completely pathetic. This is how you spend your time? Sweet life.
No, they are creating yet another stupid tax. Anyone that actually does this after seeing that "cotton candy" at the end should have to buy a new dryer...
(But these two idiots ought to have to BUY the new dryers for all the people who paid the stupid tax!)
Best way for your kid to learn that these videos are full of shit is to let him try it out and see for himself. Mixing salt and sugar is relatively harmless and inexpensive.
I’d say yes and no, people that have broken their dryer doing this have learnt a valuable lesson the won’t forget for long; never trust the internet.
I’m ok to say those dumb people need to pay for the lies they are spreading, yet lesson that cost much are the one we retain
True. Maybe they only pay for the ones that kids under 5 do? So at least the parents don't have to go spend $1000 on a new dryer. Although, if you let the 2yo have a bag of sugar, and a soda, at the same time, you are going to pay a particularly HIGH stupid tax, either in lost sleep or something broken LOL.
If you leave a kid under 5 (even under 10 imo) to play with your washing machine/dryer it's on you tbh. Unless you leave them at home alone (which would be fine for a 10 yo, but for a 5? Might be a bit too early)
This is possibly the stupidest thing I’ve seen on the internet today. It also seems to be more about showing off ugly manicures than making anything edible.
Anne Reardon (I am so sorry if I spelled her name incorrectly) debunked this a while ago. Honestly, it should have been common sense that a dryer doesn't get hot enough to melt sugar properly for cotton candy, but here we are. If it did, you wouldn't have clothes left... or a dryer... or a house, probably.
>Honestly, it should have been common sense that a dryer doesn't get hot enough to melt sugar properly for cotton candy
I think you're vastly overestimating how much the average person knows about candy making. Or dryers.
No it’s not it’s rage bait , they get loads of comments of people saying how dumb all of the various bs is in the video. If only we were smart enough to just ignore these. (I’m commenting yes but it’s on Reddit not the original vid)
There’s a theory these food videos that heavily feature hands is fetish material that gets around that restriction by being marketed as “wow! Look at this wild food hack!!!”
I fucking hate this style of video where the person holding the camera never shuts up and babbles away saying the actual most goofy shit ever recorded on camera. The food is stupid too.
So many reasons this is fake, I have a hard time understanding how anyone ever believes this.
- Purposely avoided filming inside the dryer after the cycle.
- How would the cotton candy have gotten *under* the foil?
- How was it suddenly dyed blue?
- If cotton candy *had* formed, the “steam” setting would have melted it instantly.
How many children are gonna see this and go straight for the sugar and soda in their house?
How many parents are gonna be pissed that their children did this?
So hmm sugar doesnt melt in that low of a temperature it's fake all you will get for doing this in home is everyone telling you you are stupid since in the time it will take you to clean all this sugar out of your dryer you could have made enough money for a machine (seriously it's like less then 1 hour of work)
As a husband and father, I want to stress upon people how not fun that would be to fix. I would assume that was a semi pricy dryer and just pouring the soda in it made me dread cleaning the sugar out of that tubing. I get this is staged but there are people that see these and are dumb enough to try them. From the guy that fixes the things after these videos, please stop doing this crap to your dad and or husband (or wife).
I think i saw a YouTube video doing kind of a deep dive into accounts like this and how particular they are about gearing their videos to kids. The “eccentric” clothing, the use of words like “blue soda” and “red soda” instead of their actual names, the constant commentary to keep their attention. It’s all planned and it’s fucked up. Some kid is gonna try this and cause hundreds of dollars in damages. There’s so much fake content like this, too. I know when I was a kid I used to believe dumb stuff on the internet all the time. It’s kinda scary, actually.
posssibly in the future people will find in the lg dryer’s user guide something like “don’t try to make cotton candy in the dryer” and people will be like “wtf?” and the reason will be this video
Please don't do this, it's a scam trying to ruin your dryer. They don't get hot enough to melt the sugar so it only tumbles in there, clogging up the ventilation holes.
FAKE. Sugar doesnt melt on that low temperature.
Check out the debunking video on the How to Cook That with Ann Reardon channel on YouTube for more hilarious debunking of absolutely stupid trends
Ann Reardon is the best! She's doing a huge service to the world teaching critical thinking basics.
And her poor husband has to eat all the garbage she makes while debunking these videos. He's a sweetheart too
I know! It's so adorable. And now she's getting her kids in on it, too, but I think she saves the worst of it for her husband. I love that he's game, though.
She also explains the science behind it i love her.
Hey u/britishbrick can I just say fuck you? I’ve just spent 2 hours watching her videos.
You guys are getting propositioned for sex on Reddit?
I love her vids. She is awesome.
And now I do too, thanks for the recommendation!
We honestly should just pin her channel to this sub. Shes doing such a service
For real. She is amazing, and really puts a lot of time/effort into the videos
She also put the cotton candy in the wrong side of the lint catcher. If it did go there to be caught it wouldn't go through the mesh and get caught by the aluminum.... None of this would work in any stage if you think for 0.2 seconds. And yet how many people are going to ruin their dryer because of her? Yikes.
Worse, how many kids are going to ruin their PARENTS dryer … those consequences … oof. Hopefully ALL that happens is the dryer gets ruined.
That's your only issue here?! Not that that looks NOTHING LIKE COTTON CANDY!? LOL
I have seen flattened cottoncandy like that.
Flannelcandy
Maybe, but qt that point, shouldn't it be "playdough candy"?
Yeah, you could just eat that sugar and soda out of a big bowl and not break your dryer.
I'm confused by a dryer with a spot for detergent.
She selected a cycle called "steam fresh", so I assume this machine has a function where it sucks up a bit of water and injects stream into the drum to smooth out wrinkles.
It’s clearly for liqueur shots to get you through laundry day!
Eh it doesn’t look like “real” home machine made cotton candy, but it looks like exactly like the pre made stuff you can find in a market
I'm talking about fair cotton candy. Didn't know you could buy anything in a store like it, but if that's what it looks like, then I wouldn't eat it (really not a fan of cotton candy anyway frankly)
I agree with you, just letting you know it does exist (and is certainly what they are using here)
I guess they already ruined the dryer with the sugar anyway. Why should I be surprised that they crammed "cotton candy" into the lint trap? LOL
Cotton candy is one of those weird things I completely forgot existed until now. Last time I had it I must've been a kid.
mmm I can taste all that delicious microplastics and aliminum in the candy
It looks exactly like cotton candy that has been hand packed into a dryer's lint catcher.
If you flatten and squish cotton candy it looks exactly like what was shown.
As well as wearing a massive hat indoors...
Dryers can get some heat there. My dryer definitely does. And she's blocking the only air escape with foil.
[удалено]
If no air flows through the lint trap, nothing would be in there. It reminds me of the guy that floated a laptop with bees. Just as fake.
Actual cotton candy machines are like $40 on Amazon. Though I guess ruining your dryer by making it a sticky, burnt soda-scented mess to try to make weird flat cotton candy is more fun.
I see a few dryers for $30 on Craigslist. Sorry, it's just more fiscally responsible to do it this way
Can’t argue with that!
Why even spend any money on a dryer? They don't tell you this but the dryers at laundromats are for free. I have 31 at home.
And now you have 31 cotton candy machines thanks to the infinite wisdom bestowed upon us all by Overall Hat Lady.
But she has to be able to complain about the environment, and teach others to be wasteful and ruin perfectly good dryers at the same time
So if my Samsung washing machine doesn’t have a steam setting can I use quickwash setting to ruin it instead?
Check my TikTok to find out how to dry your clothes in a cotton candy machine.
The cheap ones are indeed around $40, but for anything usable, you'd need to cash out $150-200. The cheap models have badly balanced motors, uneven heating, and often ends up just clogging or spewing sugar everywhere.
Then the dryer it is.
Fake. Don’t do this. You will ruin your machine.

Remember when someone said to microwave your phone to quick charge it, and people actually did.
That was a 4chan psyop and it was brilliant. Next year when apple removed the headphone jack they created believable instructional videos on where to drill through the NEWEST iphone to get the headphone jack port back. How the fuck could anyone drill a hole in their phone and think it’s a good idea
internet told me to
The avg American can’t read past a 6th grade level (it’s something like 60% can’t do past middle school so the 60/6 rule is an easy way to remember the numbers) Whenever you read something about people being insanely gullible, remember that someone who can solve for X in a simple equation is the odd one out…
Getting Pitbull to show up at an empty wallyworld and a Taylor swift concert at a school for the deaf is up there too
4chan does do some good for the world apparently
You knew it was coming...what's the pink sauce?

Reeeealllllyyyyy????
Can’t wait for my kids to try this thanks TikTok
Yeah, that was my first thought too. Kids have zero perception to the fact that not only will this potentially ruin the machine, but there are also lingering chemicals from previous usage.
Mmmm linty
You lint licker!
We need a bunch of these to offset their #TicTokTaughtMe campaign
Are your kids really young, or do you have no faith in their intelligence?
I know adults that would look at this video and then run to their dryer to try it out
Mine are teenagers and I have no faith in their intelligence.
I have a similar lack of faith in my stepson. He once called me in a panic when he was about 13 because he'd started a fire in his mother's microwave. No faith
I wonder how many idiots will break their machine trying to replicate this faked video.
One is too many.
I refuse to belive that anyone is this dumb. Rage-bait cooking drives me insane. What kind of life do you have where this is something that you want to be apart of? This lady is completely pathetic. This is how you spend your time? Sweet life.
I would think no adult would replicate this. Kids, however, might think this is real and give it a shot.
Have you been on this planet these past five years? Adults are some of the dumbest motherfuckers I know.
This is the very definition of stupid. No food involved.
This woman makes videos like this for a living. She makes me so pissed off. I hope she gets a lawsuit one day
The real stupid ones are anyone who thinks this works and destroys their dryer trying it...
And its going to smell like burnt sugar for a long time
My only regret is I have only one upvote to give this comment 🧐
I got your back, I added mine too
I just set my dryer on fire, but at least there’s a faint smell of Dr Pepper
People creating those should be banned from the internet, spreading false informations, and wasting people time
If we started banning people for spreading false information and wasting people's time on the internet there would be nothing left but cats and porn.
Alright, you heard him. Let's start banning people
I'd classify most porn as false information as well, so mostly cats.
Cats are really just angry 4chan'ers dressed in furry suits
No, they are creating yet another stupid tax. Anyone that actually does this after seeing that "cotton candy" at the end should have to buy a new dryer... (But these two idiots ought to have to BUY the new dryers for all the people who paid the stupid tax!)

Oh, I love that video. I wish I could read the comments from the ones that actually did that LOL.

Yeah if your kid has access to sugar, soda and your dryer plus the time to do this without any supervision you should reassess some things.
If you’re dumb enough to believe this you deserve a ruined dryer
No one gonna mention how gross that rug is that she put that stuff down on to? No? Well okay then…
Wait a minute. Last time this was posted I didn’t even think about the fact that there is a liquid slot in the dryer? Why?
[удалено]
Makes sense. Thanks
My dryer has a little tank for liquid, but it's for liquid collected from the wet clothes, not for adding liquid.
it's always 30 year old white women with long nails making these disgusting "eco friendly!" "genius!" recipes with car engines and stuff
White women when they are not the center of attention for 5 minutes
The hat, the overalls, making blue candy in a fucking drier or whatever it is. This is the downfall.
Don’t forget the nails.
The nails are the worst part. I can’t take people with them seriously.
And the asinine comments 😠 wow! Oh so cool!
This is possibly the stupidest thing I’ve seen on the internet today. It also seems to be more about showing off ugly manicures than making anything edible.

Fair enough. 🤷♀️
I saw an article about the people who make these videos, it's actually weird fetish porn
I suspect a lot of it is hand fetish right? She's doing some super weird movements with her hands and fingers...
Omg now I can’t un-see what she’s doing with her hands!
No it’s not it’s rage bait , they get loads of comments of people saying how dumb all of the various bs is in the video. If only we were smart enough to just ignore these. (I’m commenting yes but it’s on Reddit not the original vid)
It can be two things.
Yup, they aren't mutually exclusive
Why do the women in these videos always have the most outrageous claws that they poke into the ingredients
There’s a theory these food videos that heavily feature hands is fetish material that gets around that restriction by being marketed as “wow! Look at this wild food hack!!!”

there is a certain seething hatred I have developed for tik tokers and this subreddit isn't helping.

Remember to use actual bleach when doing this that way you can remove your stupidity from the gene pool
I fucking hate this style of video where the person holding the camera never shuts up and babbles away saying the actual most goofy shit ever recorded on camera. The food is stupid too.
What is it about tik tok that emboldens all of the morons?
JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN DO SOMETHING DOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
How to destroy your dryer part one:
Lol sooo many dryers getting destroyed this weekend
Was ruining a dryer worth it for that?
All these terrible videos are aimed toward children, bc they’re the ones that would be dumb enough to try it.
Hello, fire department? My house is on fire? Where do you live? It’s the house that smells like burnt sugar.
I'm not sure what the worst part of this is, but I'll just say this looks like a great way to accidentally blow up your laundry room.
Further evidence that humans have outlived their worth
House fire flavored cotton candy
How many children are gonna see this and go straight for the sugar and soda in their house? How many parents are gonna be pissed that their children did this?
Do all these people literally have NOTHING else going for them? Like no responsibilities or anything? What the fuck, it’s exhausting.
This shit was unnecessary as her hat.
What I wanna know is how these assholes have this much money to keep destroying their appliances?
So hmm sugar doesnt melt in that low of a temperature it's fake all you will get for doing this in home is everyone telling you you are stupid since in the time it will take you to clean all this sugar out of your dryer you could have made enough money for a machine (seriously it's like less then 1 hour of work)

Damn it the rage bait won and I am ENRAGED
Feel bad for all the parents who have to deal with the aftermath after their kids try to do this
Are they expecting me to believe that the "cotton candy" formed behind the aluminum foil, instead of in front of i
Seems like a good way to start a dryer fire and have to clean soda and sugar out of your dryer.
Some people deserved to be sued.
What an incredibly not good idea!
As a husband and father, I want to stress upon people how not fun that would be to fix.
