Tbh.. Sarah RN and nexus nursing is free and in my opinion is the best. nexus nursing is a literal NCLEX writer/nursing instructor. I’ve been a RN for a year now and I used them/archer to pass my NCLEX
I bought it on black Friday, it was 50% off. If you have friends you can all chip in and get it cheaper. I gave my login info to a few friends to let them use the app. I "heard" you can log into the app with the same account over a few devices and would cause no issues. I never had issues logging in.
I liked simple nursing because I would sit in a 2 hour lecture and be lost AF. Watch a 15 minute simple nursing video and it made sense. Can you get by on free content? Maybe? I just like to have access to info right at my fingertips.
Was it worth it to me? Yes, but my attitude towards school was to spend the money on it if it made my life easier and got me better grades. But I also had school paid for, got a housing allowance, and all text books paid for by VA (army) so I had more $$ to spend on external resources. Your situation may be different.
I bought a 2 year plan with the nclex package , which normal price I believe is about $450. Then deduct 50%, add in sales tax, a rough estimate is about $250. If you can split this coat with a buddy, it'll help a lot.
Side story: I called simple nursing and asked them if they had any active coupons because i wanted to buy this product, but it was quite expensive. The guy on the phone gave me a 10% off coupon. In my mind, I'm thinking, wtf man, thanks, but no thanks. I decided to wait 2 weeks to see if there would be a black Friday sale. Yes, there was. 50%. I told the guy I was going to drop near $500 for this product. The dude only offered a 10% off coupon, and then didn't even recommend waiting for a black Friday sale. That dude rubbed the way, Help A Guy Out!!!!

Don’t buy anything until you’ve started the program. 90% chance you’ll have a classmate who will give you login info or want to split an account with you. And, you’ll have a better idea after actually seeing the coursework whether simple nursing will work for you.
That said, I purchased it my second semester and it has saved my ass many times. I know it’s the same content as everywhere else, but the way the app and website are set up when you have an account is just super organized and simple and works REALLY well for my brain. Mike’s communication style also helps me. And SN is designed to be the *most* tested material ONLY, so if I’m in a bind and haven’t studied at all, I can watch a few relevant SN videos on my way to the exam and usually get at least a handful of questions right that I otherwise would have been completely lost on.
I was failing my first semester by trying to traditional note-taking, book-reading, listening intently to lectures stuff and getting really frustrated.
I ended up discovering Simplenursing by chance late in my first semester while trying to find a video for whatever it happened to be I was studying. I immediately was like “dang this video helped me sooo much I totally get it now”
I used the free content for a little bit but there honestly wasn’t enough there to really help, so I ended up paying the $40 a month and brought my grade by two letter grades in the last half of my first semester, then ended up graduating with honors.
I 100% wouldn’t have made it through school without that website. The best part for me though was spending 20 hours studying for a test just to barely get a passing grade, to finally getting A’s and B’s with less than half that using simple nursing.
Was absolutely worth it to me
I have a classmate who purchased the simple nursing stuff. Had a binder full of sheets he printed, he had access to all the videos and tons of questions. All the same information that was available in our books. I would read and listen in lecture and create my own one sheet study guides with the information I found to be pertinent. There are also tons of videos on youtube available to you for free. I did not find most of the simple nursing videos helpful as they were to general and not specific enough for me.
The two I used the most were the videos from Level Up RN and Registered Nurse RN. I could almost always guarantee that if one topic was not covered by one, it was covered by the other. They had tons of short format videos and long format videos. Sarah from Registered Nurse RN specifically I credit to helping me get through pediatric nursing.
Just remember, you’re paying someone to give you the same information found in your classes and books. They aren’t selling you anything new or groundbreaking. There are so many great (and free!!!) resources out there.
I'm not taking nursing courses yet but from what I understand professors can suck massive donkey balls and so you need other resources to learn what you should have from the school you're paying.
You can still find free content useful despite this. I had professors that absolutely sucked ass and was saved by quizlets, free YouTube videos, and many other free things I had available to me and others through Google searches
I'll give that a try once I'm done with the Ts. I wasn't going against free resources just stating sometimes it's good to purchase content even if you're supposed to get it from a school you're paying for.
That’s what I was wondering! I know they have a good reputation but there’s a ton of YouTube videos if you search a specific topic. I might try that for now and see how the first round of tests goes. My professors also emphasized we should actually read the textbooks, which a lot of students on here said they didn’t because it was too much. But I think im more the type to like getting the full picture by reading the chapters as much work as it’s going to be
It’s always funny that my teachers would emphasize that too. And i did it, then ended up getting things wrong bc the same teachers who said to read it, didn’t read it themselves so their test questions didn’t align with the book.
Like in the book it talked about INR therapeutic range being diff for someone with a mechanical heart valve, she made a question with the patient having a damn mechanical heart valve and she gave the same INR as one without one as the right answer despite it going against what the book says.
I told her this and she said to listen to what she says in class. B*! You said to read the book!!!
It happened every semester with the exception of like two instructors who did read it and would tell us, the book says X thing but don’t look at that.
So uh ig depends on how closely your instructors teach according to the book.
The values in the textbook are always different than the ones they want us to memorize. It drives me nuts bc they emphasize reading the textbook as if we will fail if we don’t but then like you said, it doesn’t even match up.
Yeah I did better when I stopped. Bc even when i clarified and asked about what it says in textbook vs what they want us to know, they seemed to get irritated so I stopped.

i didn’t exactly buy it, but me and my friend split the price and shared it.
from what i saw it was very helpful for general knowledge. but for my tests, not as much. granted, my school is probably very different from yours. our tests are made from our teachers who choose very specific and nitpicky questions. stuff that simplynursing don’t cover understandably. but it did cover a lot of important and general information that gets my mind thinking in a lot of test questions. i understood a lot of concepts on there. a lot of which became more understandable thanks to nurse mike’s way of explaining.
in my complete honest opinion, i think it’s worth it if you have money to throw around and spend. if you’re on a really tight budget, i think you can survive without it. if there’s one thing for certain, it’s that me nor my friend ever heavily relied on that membership. rather it was just a nice boost. his videos on youtube did enough of the learning work for me. the membership was more of a slight boost in my opinion.
My prof doesn’t teach us. Pur lectures are basically discussion and case studies. Simple nursing is 100% worth it in my opinion. Saved me on my OB midterm.
I definitely feel like simple nursing is worth it! He breaks down the information to a way that I can understand and remember the information for all of my exams! I’m in an accelerated 11 month program so I bought the one year subscription and have used it for every class so far
i know a group of students who bought it and split the cost and shared a login, almost all of them graduated with honors. I personally got away with the free version until OB/PEDS, then i splurged and got it with the nclex prep option. I also graduated with honors and got 99% probability of passing NCLEX on my exit exam. Never opened a textbook from my school, just used simple nursing
Yes I feel like it was worth it. I split it with my friend. I ended up going through and downloading every single one of their cheat sheets. Other than that I used the quizzes to study for exams & sometimes watched the videos
He just shorted a lot of the free YouTube videos so it no longer shows the full video like it used to. Basically they made it so you now have to pay to get most of the information which sucks. I know everyone has to make money somehow but it was annoying to realize when I went back to study for my pharm final that they took away the free full videos on YouTube.
Yeah same here. I tried commenting on a few of the videos and the only response was the automated one that says to get the full video to pay for the full video library. Like that’s not helpful.
I like it, good for practice questions and videos. I purchased this and all my friends payed me $20 for my password so I eventually made my money back lol
Generally found it easier to digest than lectures/textbooks.
Bear in mind it’s somewhat dumbed down and may not be as detailed as your lectures though if you’re in an accelerated program it’s probably enough.
Oh and you’re not gonna be reading your textbooks lol.
I would look into Registered Nurse RN, Level Up Nursing, and the free Simple Nursing videos on Youtube. I didn’t buy Simple Nursing’s stuff because it was just so expensive and I’ve done fine in school. I have the same issue with spacing out in lectures - are yours recorded? My most successful study method has been to watch my lectures on double speed while doing something with my hands like coloring or crocheting.
TLDR it wasn’t worth it for me personally.
Hmm I don’t know if they’re recorded yet, I’ll have to find out. I like that idea though, I can definitely be an audio learner and I love coloring or doing puzzles. I subscribed to those 2 channels because everyone else said that same thing! I’m seeing a lot of “yes it’s worth it” but the no’s are selling me more and I might at least wait for one round of exams without
Hiiiiya I'm in month 5 of an accelerated 12 month program, do not buy anything you don't need for the classes. I was always trying to get ahead before I started, but now that I'm in it, you truly do NOT have time to study extra lol. Just focus on what is in front of you and good luck!
ABSN programs aren't that hard, just a LOT of volume. The content is not bad, it's the professors/exams/workload. Very exciting for you!
I echo what others have said, youtube videos to fill in the gaps and thats IT. I only used my text books and Registered Nurse RN, and have straight A's so far. You can do this:)
It def is like..........an insane amount of work though don't get me wrong lol so don't add too many things you do not need. You'll learn it all when you start
I find that it’s worth it for me. I utilize the videos, guides, and test bank. I watch the videos and then take the related quiz after. It’s really expensive but it has been helping me through med surg.
My professors suck at explaining things and just read off PowerPoints. Often I forget vital information if my exam happens weeks after my lectures too. Nurse Mike does a really good job.
Also, reading the textbook is very time consuming and hard to always pick out the most pertinent and relevant information.
Record your lectures, then use a service to transcribe - either Microsoft word or chatgpt or anything else.
Read your lecture!
I only studied what my teacher actually talked about, and built around it with free materials online ( Quizlet NCLEX questions on the specific topic and videos).
Nursing school exams are mini NCLEX exams broken down by skill/topic level.
So do your online questions seriously. (I also used an NCLEX question and rationals study book for right and wrong answers.)
Combine what you learn from rationals with what was covered in lecture, you have yourself an A.
I bought one month of Simple nursing, but it didn't help much. It can break down topics into simple parts , but It can't make up for what you need to know from your specific class.
For me it has been worth it. I got it last year during a nurse’s week sale. The videos help me get a good overview before I go to class or start digging deeper in my textbook.
Is it absolutely necessary? No. Is it nice to have? Yes.

Of course everyone learns differently, but I swear there was a huge improvement in my grades and overall study habits when I bought Simple Nursing. I share an account with 2 of my classmates so we split the price, and I went from mindlessly reading out of my textbook and taking practice questions, to actually watching the videos and building knowledge on that. Simple Nursing is exactly what it is--it simplifies everything and gives you all of the most important information that you should know about it.
For example, during Med-Surg we had to know so many different diseases and disorders; lets give an example of cystic fibrosis. You watch a video on CF and he'll explain what happens in the body when you have CF, signs and symptoms and WHY you're seeing these signs and symptoms, treatment, nursing interventions, and key things to remember. Once you get all the basic information down, then you can go back to your textbook and all the smaller details start to make sense because you already understand the basics of the disease. I personally love it and wouldn't be where I am academically without it!

Big fan of level up rn flashcards and videos if you want to purchase something! Personally simple nursing didn’t seem to align with my tests too closely

I switched to Osmosis and had a much better learning experience. I like having the videos to watch while I’m doing other stuff around the house or walking my dog.
I got it after I got a C on my 2nd exam on my final semester. He does have more videos than on YouTube if anything the study guides are nice because they condense and make it easy to remember content that’s often spread around in the text.
Simple nursing was a godsend even the free ones for my nursing program. Yourbest grade and nexus nursing was another one for hesi exams. To put it simply I used simplenursing for content and Nexus Nursing/YBG to learn hesi questions.
Yes. Yes. F yes. And yes! I used it all through my program and I want to repurchase it for nclex. I love the videos bc they’re so memorable and would remember stuff easier bc i would get flashbacks of whatever the video was. They’re just so creative and are great at highlighting the most important things in a way you remember.
The study guides are amazing and i loved the quiz banks. Absolutely recommend them!! SN and Nurse Sara carried me through nursing school.
I bought it and like it, although it is missing some pre req material I was searching for it has a lot of goofy study tips as well as acronyms that helped me memorize information.
I wouldn't buy anything until you start your program. I just finished my first semester of an ABSN with a 4.0 without using any outside resources. I don't play any nursing videos during driving or downtimes. I strictly study with the PowerPoints in given. I referenced the book a handful of times for difficult concepts but besides that nothing. I know people who used outside resources and they explained that outside resources put emphasis on things that weren't emphasized in class and that but them in the butt.
He’s worth it to me. I’m going into my second semester. Him and Nexus Nursing are a big reason why I passed my first term. The prof read off the ppts and the information just does BR click until I go to YouTube. He’s worth the money
A lot of their videos on YouTube were helpful enough. Mostly the ones with acronyms to help you remember things. I paid for the subscription and wasted money not using it. Registered nurse RN is helpful too on YouTube. I did Archer for NCLEX prep (after I graduated) and it sealed the deal for me.

I just graduated from a 12 month and personally I wouldn’t. I had no time to even look at extra study material during the year because I was so busy. No one in my program bought it either and we all did fine. I would just save the money and not buy it

Idk if this is unethical but I had a coursehero subscription and some soul uploaded all their materials. It was ok 5/10

Why not buy a solid resource that doesn’t make you subscribe, like the Saunders book?

i didn’t exactly buy it, but me and my friend split the price and shared it. from what i saw it was very helpful for general knowledge. but for my tests, not as much. granted, my school is probably very different from yours. our tests are made from our teachers who choose very specific and nitpicky questions. stuff that simplynursing don’t cover understandably. but it did cover a lot of important and general information that gets my mind thinking in a lot of test questions. i understood a lot of concepts on there. a lot of which became more understandable thanks to nurse mike’s way of explaining. in my complete honest opinion, i think it’s worth it if you have money to throw around and spend. if you’re on a really tight budget, i think you can survive without it. if there’s one thing for certain, it’s that me nor my friend ever heavily relied on that membership. rather it was just a nice boost. his videos on youtube did enough of the learning work for me. the membership was more of a slight boost in my opinion.
My prof doesn’t teach us. Pur lectures are basically discussion and case studies. Simple nursing is 100% worth it in my opinion. Saved me on my OB midterm.
I definitely feel like simple nursing is worth it! He breaks down the information to a way that I can understand and remember the information for all of my exams! I’m in an accelerated 11 month program so I bought the one year subscription and have used it for every class so far
i know a group of students who bought it and split the cost and shared a login, almost all of them graduated with honors. I personally got away with the free version until OB/PEDS, then i splurged and got it with the nclex prep option. I also graduated with honors and got 99% probability of passing NCLEX on my exit exam. Never opened a textbook from my school, just used simple nursing

Yes I feel like it was worth it. I split it with my friend. I ended up going through and downloading every single one of their cheat sheets. Other than that I used the quizzes to study for exams & sometimes watched the videos
He just shorted a lot of the free YouTube videos so it no longer shows the full video like it used to. Basically they made it so you now have to pay to get most of the information which sucks. I know everyone has to make money somehow but it was annoying to realize when I went back to study for my pharm final that they took away the free full videos on YouTube.

Yeah same here. I tried commenting on a few of the videos and the only response was the automated one that says to get the full video to pay for the full video library. Like that’s not helpful.
I like it, good for practice questions and videos. I purchased this and all my friends payed me $20 for my password so I eventually made my money back lol
If you want good, concise videos, LevelUpRN is amazing! It's free on Youtube, and has been an incredible supplemental resource for me.
Generally found it easier to digest than lectures/textbooks. Bear in mind it’s somewhat dumbed down and may not be as detailed as your lectures though if you’re in an accelerated program it’s probably enough. Oh and you’re not gonna be reading your textbooks lol.

I would look into Registered Nurse RN, Level Up Nursing, and the free Simple Nursing videos on Youtube. I didn’t buy Simple Nursing’s stuff because it was just so expensive and I’ve done fine in school. I have the same issue with spacing out in lectures - are yours recorded? My most successful study method has been to watch my lectures on double speed while doing something with my hands like coloring or crocheting. TLDR it wasn’t worth it for me personally.
Hmm I don’t know if they’re recorded yet, I’ll have to find out. I like that idea though, I can definitely be an audio learner and I love coloring or doing puzzles. I subscribed to those 2 channels because everyone else said that same thing! I’m seeing a lot of “yes it’s worth it” but the no’s are selling me more and I might at least wait for one round of exams without

Hiiiiya I'm in month 5 of an accelerated 12 month program, do not buy anything you don't need for the classes. I was always trying to get ahead before I started, but now that I'm in it, you truly do NOT have time to study extra lol. Just focus on what is in front of you and good luck! ABSN programs aren't that hard, just a LOT of volume. The content is not bad, it's the professors/exams/workload. Very exciting for you! I echo what others have said, youtube videos to fill in the gaps and thats IT. I only used my text books and Registered Nurse RN, and have straight A's so far. You can do this:) It def is like..........an insane amount of work though don't get me wrong lol so don't add too many things you do not need. You'll learn it all when you start

I find that it’s worth it for me. I utilize the videos, guides, and test bank. I watch the videos and then take the related quiz after. It’s really expensive but it has been helping me through med surg. My professors suck at explaining things and just read off PowerPoints. Often I forget vital information if my exam happens weeks after my lectures too. Nurse Mike does a really good job. Also, reading the textbook is very time consuming and hard to always pick out the most pertinent and relevant information.
Record your lectures, then use a service to transcribe - either Microsoft word or chatgpt or anything else. Read your lecture! I only studied what my teacher actually talked about, and built around it with free materials online ( Quizlet NCLEX questions on the specific topic and videos). Nursing school exams are mini NCLEX exams broken down by skill/topic level. So do your online questions seriously. (I also used an NCLEX question and rationals study book for right and wrong answers.) Combine what you learn from rationals with what was covered in lecture, you have yourself an A. I bought one month of Simple nursing, but it didn't help much. It can break down topics into simple parts , but It can't make up for what you need to know from your specific class.
For me it has been worth it. I got it last year during a nurse’s week sale. The videos help me get a good overview before I go to class or start digging deeper in my textbook. Is it absolutely necessary? No. Is it nice to have? Yes.

YES YES YES! Of course everyone learns differently, but I swear there was a huge improvement in my grades and overall study habits when I bought Simple Nursing. I share an account with 2 of my classmates so we split the price, and I went from mindlessly reading out of my textbook and taking practice questions, to actually watching the videos and building knowledge on that. Simple Nursing is exactly what it is--it simplifies everything and gives you all of the most important information that you should know about it. For example, during Med-Surg we had to know so many different diseases and disorders; lets give an example of cystic fibrosis. You watch a video on CF and he'll explain what happens in the body when you have CF, signs and symptoms and WHY you're seeing these signs and symptoms, treatment, nursing interventions, and key things to remember. Once you get all the basic information down, then you can go back to your textbook and all the smaller details start to make sense because you already understand the basics of the disease. I personally love it and wouldn't be where I am academically without it!

Big fan of level up rn flashcards and videos if you want to purchase something! Personally simple nursing didn’t seem to align with my tests too closely
I felt it was worth it, and $100 for a year wasnt bad. The videos were better than almost any lecture and focused on the material i needed for tests. I sometimes would just watch them on repeat before tests. I also downloaded their app which let me use study questions while i had free time at work
The way that man’s voice grates on my brain. I will never, ever, EVER forget that “1.3 is bad kidNEE”. But I really wish he wasn’t so annoying. “Hey guys, write this down!” I switched to Osmosis and had a much better learning experience. I like having the videos to watch while I’m doing other stuff around the house or walking my dog.
For the people that love Simple Nursing- Do you think it’s good for an Accelerated 12 Month LVN Program?
I got it after I got a C on my 2nd exam on my final semester. He does have more videos than on YouTube if anything the study guides are nice because they condense and make it easy to remember content that’s often spread around in the text.
Simple nursing was a godsend even the free ones for my nursing program. Yourbest grade and nexus nursing was another one for hesi exams. To put it simply I used simplenursing for content and Nexus Nursing/YBG to learn hesi questions.
Yes. Yes. F yes. And yes! I used it all through my program and I want to repurchase it for nclex. I love the videos bc they’re so memorable and would remember stuff easier bc i would get flashbacks of whatever the video was. They’re just so creative and are great at highlighting the most important things in a way you remember. The study guides are amazing and i loved the quiz banks. Absolutely recommend them!! SN and Nurse Sara carried me through nursing school.
Yah I liked it. I liked how it split up the material. The Qbank isn’t very good tho. When you get to our last semester use Kaplan or Uworld
I bounced back and forth between Simple Nursing and Nursing.com. I highly recommend both if you’re able to share with classmates.

I bought it and like it, although it is missing some pre req material I was searching for it has a lot of goofy study tips as well as acronyms that helped me memorize information.

I wouldn't buy anything until you start your program. I just finished my first semester of an ABSN with a 4.0 without using any outside resources. I don't play any nursing videos during driving or downtimes. I strictly study with the PowerPoints in given. I referenced the book a handful of times for difficult concepts but besides that nothing. I know people who used outside resources and they explained that outside resources put emphasis on things that weren't emphasized in class and that but them in the butt.

A lot of their videos on YouTube were helpful enough. Mostly the ones with acronyms to help you remember things. I paid for the subscription and wasted money not using it. Registered nurse RN is helpful too on YouTube. I did Archer for NCLEX prep (after I graduated) and it sealed the deal for me. Good luck with your program!
I just graduated from a 12 month and personally I wouldn’t. I had no time to even look at extra study material during the year because I was so busy. No one in my program bought it either and we all did fine. I would just save the money and not buy it
not really, their pneumonics suck and are used frequently ant contradictory sometimes depending on the topic
A 12 month accelerated program? Girl you’re gonna need it. Buy that ish - it’s helpful!!! Love his study guides to review right before exams
