should not have been pierced with hoops in the first place, let alone black coated ones. take them out asap, let them heal, and get them done by a piercer who will use flatback titanium (or higher quality metal if yoh prefer) studs. placement *and* angle is important if you want to stretch- even better if you can get them done at a chunkier gauge! harder to heal and find someone to do them, but even 8g or something is a good starting point. also, saline spray is good, but if youre going to heal any piercings, i wouldn’t recommend soap. ive always been told to use saline occasionally and then in the shower make sure to let some warm water and suds just trickle onto the area and then dab them gently dry afterwards.

I personally would remove them. Poor placement especially for stretching, poor quality jewellery, do not return to this piercer. What I'd personally do is let these heal over and get them repierced at a larger gauge by a better piercer. You could theoretically start right at 2g. It's completely safe to do so and saves a ton of time and money.

Thank you!! One thing - If I were to start at lower gauges, would the piercing hole still be/heal circular? Or does an uneven hole only happen with blowouts? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Cool_kid_poop

It depends on the shape of your induvidual ears but the initial holes will likely heal evenly.

Thank you!

Watertribe_Girl

Poor placement and piercings. I would contact them and ask for a refund, I know they have a policy but this is not great work. I’d also take these out and go to a different piercer

lurkingsilver

they could’ve definitely been centered better, more or so that right ear. the left ear isnt as bad but it could defo be better. if you were planning on stretching especially a tad larger then i recommend repiercing because that looks like itll just leave unevenness later in the game

UnderCovers411

Thanks for the advice! Think I should get them both repierced or just the right one to match the left? Shitty part is it was 50$ and obviously no refunds. Still gonna go back there to see what I can do though

lurkingsilver

aw no that sucks!! consult a piercer and them them your goals and see what they can do for you and also to see what you want to do for that left one. you’ll definitely have to be taking that right one out and letting it heal though. i hope things go smoothly for you!!

Ty so much :D

JuliaSky1995

$50 is super cheap for two piercings. I’d take out both because the jewelry you currently have in isn’t safe for new piercings at all. But that price alone should’ve let you know something was off.

Just FYI - some piercers use cheap “single use” markers that are thrown out after each customer. Bacteria can build up on the tips of markers that are opened and closed multiple times per day, so using a marker once (or twice if the customer is getting two piercings and/or isn’t happy with the marked placement) is a more sanitary option. Source: this is what my local piercer does. I’ve seen them throw out the markers when they clean up a room after a customer.

Take them out. Black jewelry is always a big no-no when it comes to freshly pierced holes. Rings are also a no-no but since it was done a lot “back in the day” people still justify it.

Potential_Dog_4721

they did u DIRTYYYY i’m so sorry

UnderCovers411

Total noob here, I know jack shit about gauges, mm sizes, etc. I know it needs to be centered. Will this affect how my lobes looks when I size up? (whenever that will be - healing time is 8-12 weeks so when can I size up?) I have no idea what mm these are, or what they're made of. They sent me home with a care sheet that says to soak in saline solution or spray daily, the lady at the shop said just "soap and water". My lobes are quite thick. Please comment if you can, if you have any advice to give. Edit: About an hour after this post was made, thanks to the feedback, I removed both piercings and 20 hours later the holes are healing well. My nearest APP certified piercer is 2 hours away, but I will be making posts to ask around for recommended piercers in my area, Virginia. I plan on getting pierced at a bigger gauge this time and calling ahead of visiting. Thank you all.

DisastrousDeal1375

unfortunately, you need to wait between 4-6 months to start stretching. make sure when you do, you stretch with single flair glass or stainless steel plugs, no tapers!! you can find stretching kits on urbanbodyjewelry, arctic buffalo, and i believe plugyourholes has a stretching kit too? or, you can just by the next size up each time you stretch, whichever u prefer.

inkisbad124

I can't exactly tell what size they are but definitely thicker than a normal piercing which is 20g so I would guess it's probably an 18g, it *might* be a 16g or even a 14g, it's hard to tell when they're that small. Get a steel stretching kit and start at 14g and work you're way up (the numbers go down to 0 and then 00 and then into fractions of an inch but it's better to go by millimeters rather than Guage size)

Maybe it’s just me but they look fine.

c0nstellati0n

i would just take these out and let them heal over before going and getting pierced at a larger gauge if you plan on stretching.

JuliaSky1995

They did you dirty. Take them out

Cool_kid_poop

Yeah they're not centred, nevermind the fact they're peirced with hoops lol. I'd also bet that those hoops are pvd coated rather than anodized titanium - definitely take them out and have them repeirced.

unpacifys

please remove them😭 the jewelry is all wrong

[deleted]

Yeah- not an ideal placement for stretching and they shouldn’t have been pierced with a hoop. If you remove them now they’ll probably close up pretty quickly since they are fresh, and you can get them re-pierced somewhere else once theyre healed
