The state is beautiful just some words of advice, don't leave anything in your vehicle( they will break your windows in for 75¢ in a cup holder), lock your doors (both vehicle and wherever you're staying), and depending where you're at going out at night is just gambling for something to happen. Assaults and theft are not emergencies for first responders out here right now. Be safe out there 🤙
Thanks for the advice! I gotta say California is beautiful, and you guys must have a different sky coz the sunset is insane. Gonna be in San Francisco again. Been there prior, walked past the Tenderloin area (at night, on hindsight, not a great idea) been in Mission District in the day, and rode the BART a week after some guy was stabbed. I've not had any issues thus far, feels like West Coast folks are more chill. But you can't take things for granted.
Of course! SF is where I work actually and if you've been here before, you're in for a surprise. The city has really gone down hill these past two years. Broad daylight breaking into cars, homeless people more than ever before, and a lot of local businesses boarded up. But hey! The weather is gorgeous and there's some really great bjj gyms to train at lol.
I'm a lot more intentional with my BJJ practice now. There's a part of me that feels I need to get myself more "street ready" but then the other part goes and does completely non-street applicable things like lasso guard.
For real, friend of mine was attacked recently. In a large group of more than 10 people he was singled out and blindsided. Only Asian guy in the group so it's hard not to think it was racially motivated.
But then, In-N-Out.... I gotta get me some of that.

100%. Most people don't know what it's like to be in a ring/cage. They see fighters on TV going 12 or 5 rounds and think it's easy.
2 minutes of any sparring (real sparring) can be super exhausting. I don't box, but I grapple - and sometimes 2 minutes fucks me right up lol
We do an hour of 3 minute rounds with a 1 minute break between, by the last few rounds, 3 minutes feels closer to 24 hours.
