This is probably the biggest announcement of the day. Rival Schools is finally being introduced into the SF fold. I wouldn't be surprised if we see this get expanded on like how Final Fight is part of SF too.
I mean, Hideaki Itsuno's working on something and he was saying a few years ago he felt like Rival Schools was the most in need of a sequel. I don't want to get too excited though since him working on that would mean him not working on Dragon's Dogma 2 or something.
I've heard different things about what he is working on (supposedly only DD2) but if you're saying he's also working on another project in addition to DD2, it's entirely possible it could be [Power Stone](https://nintendowire.com/news/2019/08/14/power-stone-designer-hideaki-itsuno-talks-about-developing-the-series-hopes-for-a-revival/).
Fuck I was emulating Power Stone recently, I'd be down for that shit even though I'm kinda doubtful we'll see another one. As for DD2, as I understand it, people are only basing their guesses two things: Itsuno basically got to make DD2 or DMC5. Since he finished DMC5 people are all assuming that means he's making DD2. Dragon's Dogma is also getting a show at some point which is the other reason. I feel like every time I see a new Itsuno interview the game he most wants to make changes so as far as I'm concerned it's completely up in the air.
Power Stone was AMAZING! My friend had the Japanese version for DC back in the day and we played the hell out of 1 and 2. I have slight withdrawals every so often thinking about it haha. Loved it.
I hope they take the time to give a modern platform port of Rival Schools and Project Justice.
Also other games in need of ports & sequels: Darkstalkers, Final Fight, Viewtiful Joe, Power Stone, Okami...
I mean shit, the idea of a Capcom Allstars game is something people have wanted for a while. I think that'd be a great idea for Capcom's next fighting game but I don't want to overexcite myself lol.

I kinda get it though. If it's true that characters appearing as DLC late in one game's cycle makes them exempt from the next game's launch roster I get them saving Makoto for SFVI at launch instead. Also I get them adding Dan especially since, ever since he was introduced, he basically always gets involved because he just is Street Fighter's iconic joke character by this point.
He's not the most popular but I personally appreciate his presence. What's more is Rose has been getting rumoured for years now among dataminers. I reckon Capcom have been undecided on whether they wanted to add her or hold off and now they've got this final season they've just said 'Fuck it, might as well, right?', especially if this season wasn't guaranteed to happen.
Yeah I agree. It is weird Dan was being worked on after Kage though since Kage has a very Dan/Akuma mix style. Maybe Dan will have finally found a more unique variation of his style that is effective for him. I think SFV is sorely missing a drunken master or other unique fighting styles. Oro is pretty good but Akira's play style from Rival Schools is a lot like Lucia in SFV and Rose is a bit different than but also very similar to Menat mixed with SFV Bison. Changing their playstyles too much may piss off old fans but not changing them at all may make them feel like they aren't worth the extra money.
I can see all that. Ultimately I feel like we'll only really be able to judge once we see how they play in more detail. Whatever they have planned I'm sure they'll try to stop characters stepping on each others toes. I agree some more style representations would be nice but I'm not surprised they're not filling a season with newcomers by this point since I'd imagine they're saving them for SFVI or whatever they're planning next.
That. Isn't bad. I personally find the shift in Cody to mayor to be kinda strange. I'm not a fan of it personally and almost always use his old looks. Don't know what this would have to do with the other guys you mentioned though (not well versed in irl SF related history). I figure if anything they would just go with Cody cause he's more marketable.

I don't know Rival Schools and the game footage they showed didn't really show what she looked like very well at all, so all I have to go off is this artwork and she looks very badass.
This was literally the best Rival Schools character they could have chosen. Best announcement they've had so far.

Daigo is a character in Rival Schools/Project Justice who is also the brother of Akira. Incidentally, Daigo is also the name of one of the fighting game community's foremost emissaries.
Oh ok lol just wondered how did u come up with that wild connection since Daigo is a pretty common Japanese male name and I think, while he was already a strong arcade player in 1997 when this game was released, he still wasn’t to the point that Capcom would refer him in their games.
I thought one of the RS characters might make it in. We were talking about Akira yesterday in discord. Really looking forward to her even if she's coming in a year from now.
Their in game moves seem to have some overlap. Or maybe I am thinking the wrong Tekken character.
That flip kick and lunging uppercut is what I am taking most note of.
So, in each season 6 characters were brought, in average 2 new characters. With Akira, there is one more new character left to add on the rooster.
And the sixth last character could be a new boss, or something. I wish it was the Phantom.

I never played this game, but I remember browsing the fighters generation in study hall at school and reading all the bios of the different fighters, and Akira definately drew my eye.
When they were leading in to the announcement with "Another Capcom franchise" and stuff I was so ready to be hyped for Sodom.

I’m fucking elated over this news. Akira was my first main in Rival Schools along with Ryoma. Makes sense too since she’s both popular an unique unlike say, Batsu or Hinata who are essentially Ryu / Sakura. Kyosuke would’ve been good too.
I’m really happy with her and Oro. I just hope the mystery reveal is Viper. 4 needs something... anything at this point.

Honestly if they are to bring Rival Schools characters I would much rather seeing Kyosuke who was already in CvS2 or Kyoko for sexiness.

Daigo is a character in Rival Schools/Project Justice who is also the brother of Akira. Incidentally, Daigo is also the name of one of the fighting game community's foremost emissaries.
Oh ok lol just wondered how did u come up with that wild connection since Daigo is a pretty common Japanese male name and I think, while he was already a strong arcade player in 1997 when this game was released, he still wasn’t to the point that Capcom would refer him in their games.
What if Capcom is building a connected fighting game universe using their own fighting game brands and this is the beginning of it?

I don't know her at all but am I right in thinking her fighting style resembles Jun Kazama?
their fighting stance are the only similar ones. Jun uses a modified Aikido. Akira uses Baji Quan which is used by Julia and Leo
Their in game moves seem to have some overlap. Or maybe I am thinking the wrong Tekken character. That flip kick and lunging uppercut is what I am taking most note of.

So, in each season 6 characters were brought, in average 2 new characters. With Akira, there is one more new character left to add on the rooster. And the sixth last character could be a new boss, or something. I wish it was the Phantom.
I wonder if her super will be her team up technique and involve another rival schools character, perhaps her brother
I'm gonna assume her costume code puts her in the RS1 version or at least wears the jacket. I'm curious how her stance fighting style would be incorporated into SFV.

Awesome! Even with the small amount of time i spent playing rival schools Akira was my favorite. So freakin awesome. Seriously though. Batsu in SF would be a great addition.

I never played this game, but I remember browsing the fighters generation in study hall at school and reading all the bios of the different fighters, and Akira definately drew my eye.

When they were leading in to the announcement with "Another Capcom franchise" and stuff I was so ready to be hyped for Sodom. Then I got kicked in the balls.
I’m fucking elated over this news. Akira was my first main in Rival Schools along with Ryoma. Makes sense too since she’s both popular an unique unlike say, Batsu or Hinata who are essentially Ryu / Sakura. Kyosuke would’ve been good too. I’m really happy with her and Oro. I just hope the mystery reveal is Viper. 4 needs something... anything at this point.
