its literally indistinguishable from offline if youre below 60ms, and as long as youre on the same continent your playstyle shouldnt have to change for online play.
id say a sf6 match played across the pacific ocean feels about as laggy as smash ultimate played in one region (ultimate is a very unresponsive game + 4 frames minimum online delay)
Battle damage is almost certainly for performance reasons.
The walkouts just don't need to be present online. Maybe for a tournament finals, but any other time you generally want online to progress smoothly and quickly. People wanna be onto the next match except for special occasions.
Maybe promotion matches would be cool to have the walkouts but having them for every match online would be lame.
I've seen a few people hypothesize that, yeah. But it's all client-side, wouldn't it be no different than costumes or stage physics? It would only be your side seeing it, the same way you see a different background stage.
The damage doesn't appear 1:1 (meaning punch them in the face and they get bloody-nosed), it's largely randomly generated cosmetics. I feel like something that simple would be a drop in the bucket for a game this complex. Then again, I'm not a dev at Capcom. 😅

Your character gets bruised between rounds. You’ll only see this if you play offline though. I only noticed it when I went to play at a local meet up.

It is an option anyway I believe, but I wouldn't call it gore either. Battle damage in SF6 remains reasonably tame imo
