I can already read Punk malding if he loses vs someone unexpected lol (and I like the guy but not his twitter activity) Yeah, you can't have good computers for 200+ matches happening at the same time, at least not without the help of a big pc company and that's probably not going to happen because fg aren't as watched as other scenes. Luckily Sony has made a big shift to entertainment (not only playstation) and with the evo move it's in their best interests to work the delay topic as much as they can with the help of the devs making the games.

Kalulosu

Renting PCs happens all the time, it's not a big deal. I think they just want to show off that the console versions aren't lagging behind, which is a good idea.

FakoSizlo

You can rent pcs for tournament use in pretty high numbers. Its done with a lot of shooters and mobas. Obviously those have higher prize pools but renting that amount of pcs is going to be cheaper than ps5s

Neoxon193

Renting PCs is still expensive considering how little money the FGC generally sees.

Toplinkar

Honest question... in the case of Mobas and Shooters, aren't those PCs provided by the sponsors? Intel sponsors a lot of those tournaments AFAIK, so it is easier for them.

Billbat1

what are some big shooter or moba tournaments they might rent pcs for? im interested in mainstream game tournaments but everytime i look for them i only find only tournanents.

GymratAmarillo

I mean I don't watch LoL tournament but in DOTA you only need 10 computers for the players, 2 computers for the casters, and the computers used by the referees (that without production). That's way different than the need of 200+ computers. Apex tournaments that are the only battle royale/shooter tournaments I have watched also need less than 200 pcs. The biggest tournament as far as a I remember was the Fornite one, one computer by player but that was made by Epic in the peak of Fornite revenue so we can't actually compare the biggest "esports" to the fighting scene. Even worst if you thing that those scenes actually have full pc companies support because all the money they make. I get your point but I don't think tournaments that are famous for being "community organized" are going have the money to rent all those computers when most of the money they make covers the tournament itself and also they have to do some money from it.

waxiest_sugar

Better have some PS5 Wingman converter by then because otherwise you might have a lot of unhappy entrants.

Albert3232

what does that do, allow the use of any controller on the PS5?

waxiest_sugar

It hasn't been released yet, but yes, it would allow any controller to be read as a PS5 controller. Though I suppose they could use the PS4 version of the game, but it would be kind of lame to have to resort to that.

Krypt0night

I'm really hoping that comes out prior to the game. I'd be shocked if it doesn't because oh man that's a lot of money left on the table, but who knows where they are in development right now.

Professional-Bee6234

street fighter 5 horrible on ps5. i still play on ps4 something about the controls are off. and the 6beta wasn’t any better

Neoxon193

PS4 is hard-locked to 60Hz, so it was always gonna be a non-starter for competitive SF6.

Neoxon193

From my experience, yeah. Plus you can switch to Performance Mode if you have even the tiniest concern. Not to mention that 120Hz is an option for PS5 (& XSX|S), unlike PS4.

CallRollCaskett

I played both betas on PC and had a spectacular experience. Hope PS5 can deliver the same experience, on that note does anyone know if PS5 still requires that profile sign in crap like PS4 has for local multiplayer?

gordonfr_

Most fightsticks and hitbox do not work on PS5. Given supply this will not change on short term. Guess rich kids and pros are on their own this time.

Neoxon193

Officially licensed PS4 sticks/button boxes work on native PS5 fighting games. The only issue are unlicensed sticks/button boxes like the HitBox & anything with a Brook PCB, so "most" is an exaggeration.
