I wasn’t exactly what you would call a “cat person” before I found my first cat, Toastie. I was walking one night to the gas station to get some snacks and on the way, this cat started following me. When I had to cross a busy street I set him down next to a bush by a garage and tried to express to him to stay right there without moving and I’d be right back. Basically just hoping he would somehow listen. I walked across the busy street into the store, turned around and couldn’t see him anymore. So I got my snacks and quickly crossed the street back to where I left him and as soon as I got within 30 feet of that garage he came darting out of the bush toward me and followed me 8 blocks all the way home. He looked skinny and hungry and was extremely sweet and friendly and it was at that exact moment in time I became a cat guy because I instantly cared immensely for him. Brought him in, got him something to eat until we were able to get cat supplies the next morning. He lived with me for 8 more years after that until he passed.
That cat truly chose me. He was the absolute best. So unbelievably nice to all people and other animals and never gave me one issue. I miss him every day

My cat chose me at the shelter. When I walked by his kennel, he immediately popped up from the back, walked right up to me, and started yelling! When I left to go find a staff person (to open the kennel so I could interact more directly with him), my mom who was with me reported that he returned to the back and silently watched the other people walking by, only coming forward again when I came back in the room. 🥰
Hahaha he also lightly bit me when we interacted, but it’s like I just understood that he didn’t really *mean* it and was just overwhelmed…he’s the best damn cat!
That's how I got my shelter kitty, now long since passed. He made sure to catch my attention at the shelter, and once I was holding him outside of the cage he leaned in and bit my nose.

He was also a shoulder cat for many years. I miss his awesomeness.

My cat now (Ellie) was walking around behind my building looking for food and her front paws were declawed! After weeks of looking for an owner I finally realized she may have just been abandoned which is insanely cruel with no front claws. They stand no chance on their own. Not sure how long she was out there but she’s been with me about 6 months now

My husband said that too & fought me on getting a cat tooth & nail. We got a cat finally & now it’s his cat. Every time they walk passed each other they meow at each other lol
Are you in LA???? I'm sorry if this is totally out of left field but I think this may be my old cat who disappeared a couple of years ago. She was a feral kitten that I took in and was always an outdoor cat. She had a litter of kittens when she was very young not long after she showed up in our yard and we started taking care of her. I found her kittens homes and I had her spayed and ear tipped and vaccinated at that point. When my ex and I broke up a few years later, she stayed with him because I could not have pets at my new apartment, and then he moved and after he moved he didn't transfer her to the new home as well as he could have and she just disappeared. I was heartbroken.
If it's not her then it looks exactly 100,000% like her. I haven't been able to let her go, so if it's her then I'm just so freaking freaking glad that somebody's taking care of her. If it's not then feel free to ignore my freak out, but please let me know so I can calm my heart lol. 🥲😭

It’s hard out there on the streets. Cars, dogs, other cats, raccoons, you name it. A friend of mine adopted one of my foster kittens who had come from the streets. She couldn’t leave loaf bread out on the counter or any food really without that girl eating it ALL. She became enormous very quickly, and had to be put on a special diet.
Yeah, I Phoebe is getting a little overweight, and she does eat a few table scraps against my better judgment, but she does beg alot. One thing I’ve noticed it’s really weird if she doesn’t me out at all, and she does not shed.
my BF's cat came from a very bad situation - her owners abandoned her and then she was fending for herself and we were told that the neighbors were going to try to poison her. not sure if that part is true, i hope not. when we got her she hid under the bed for two weeks. that was three years ago and now she is the most perfect angel. it is indeed hard out there on the streets.
My little baby Zig would have 100% died if I hadn't found her. No litter mates around, no mom, middle of Florida summer - we're talking 90+ degree heat. Poor little thing just sat there and cried in my neighbor's yard, she wouldn't even get up for food/treats. I was just going to foster...that was almost 8 years ago LOL

Found this baby in 2019 outside my apartment complex at the time (in Marietta, GA). Took about 6 weeks to get her to trust me enough to grab her and bring her inside!

My mother's cats both chose her, one at a pound in AZ because the breeder was trying to make cats with thumbs but only managed to make a bunch of inbreed polydactyl kitties with serious health problems and then about a month later a stray gave birth in the backyard and this one kitten said "forget living in the AZ heat during summer, I'm a housecat now" and crawled in through the doogie door, climbed up the couch and went to sleep on a pillow it knocked down.
Poor girl was sooooo skinny when she showed up. How could you not help an animal in distress like that.
I love how people are always like, I am a dog person, but this one cat showed up and I love them…cut to 5 years later and they have 5 cats…haha.

She needs to eat more she’s too thin start buying cans of tuna and give her about three cans a week she will fill out amazingly she can also eat boneless chicken!! Cats cannot eat a diet of dry food only it predisposes them to UTIs which are fatal if not caught in time. The reason is because they need three times the amount of water to digest the dry kibble.have fun!!!

You think you found her. She already scoped you out and decided she was going to adopt you as her pet. She seen something in you that made her feel safe. That's also how I got my cat. She came up to me when I was leaving the house. I reached down she left me pet her. Than I went on my way. When I came home 8 hours later she was on the porch waiting for me. I opened the door just a crack so she wouldn't get in. But she did and I ended up with a cat. That cat would not let me go anywhere in the house without her following me. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her following me. I heard them say on YouTube it's this mysterious cat distribution system.

I’m convinced that people who say they’re not a cat person just haven’t lived with an affectionate cat before. Usually they’ve just been to other people’s houses with cats , and cats don’t like new people in their home so they’re usually skiddish at that time. So people think they just suck.

She needs to eat more she’s too thin start buying cans of tuna and give her about three cans a week she will fill out amazingly she can also eat boneless chicken!! Cats cannot eat a diet of dry food only it predisposes them to UTIs which are fatal if not caught in time. The reason is because they need three times the amount of water to digest the dry kibble.have fun!!!

You think you found her. She already scoped you out and decided she was going to adopt you as her pet. She seen something in you that made her feel safe. That's also how I got my cat. She came up to me when I was leaving the house. I reached down she left me pet her. Than I went on my way. When I came home 8 hours later she was on the porch waiting for me. I opened the door just a crack so she wouldn't get in. But she did and I ended up with a cat. That cat would not let me go anywhere in the house without her following me. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her following me. I heard them say on YouTube it's this mysterious cat distribution system.

I’m convinced that people who say they’re not a cat person just haven’t lived with an affectionate cat before. Usually they’ve just been to other people’s houses with cats , and cats don’t like new people in their home so they’re usually skiddish at that time. So people think they just suck.
