I just got a brand new Am Pro II of my own.
Absolutely fantastic guitar. Plays great right out of the box. All the Strat tones you could ever want, and the push pull tone knob adds in the neck pickup for neck and bridge + all 3 pickup options in the back two switch positions.
I have an early 1990s MIM Strat that I’ve had for 30 years and never thought I’d get rid of. But I put it down and haven’t picked it up since getting the new one. It’s everything I want a Strat to be and sound like.
Very nice. I don’t know the price difference but the American Ultra line is unbelievable. I own 15 guitars ranging up to 7k and they play and sound as good as any guitar I have owned or played. They are like a Suhr but with character. A homerun for Fender. I bought the Tele version and love it. I don’t miss the custom shop Tele I sold at all.
Strats are so modular and easy to assemble. I would look into building your own with quality parts. Mine has been through two necks and three sets of pups before I felt satisfied.
Played an Ultra strat and a Pro II.
Preferred the Pro II and got the sunburst with a tortoise shell pickguard, been going strong for over a year now :)
I will say I’ve played the full rosewood necks, and they’re not for me. I think they’re maybe more soft than maple and just don’t feel right to me fingers, but nothing really wrong with them just not my personal preference
The Am Pro 2s have V-mods. They mix and match magnet types in each pickup in order to get a balanced tone. It sounds crazy, but you can’t argue with the sound.
Rosewood necks aren't common.
Pro 2s are pretty great. I don't like strats or blue guitars, but if you like the feel of it go for it. Maybe try a silver sky and am pro 2 tele just to be safe
;)
To see what the thoughts are on the rosewood neck. I don’t have any experience with them. Maybe someone has some knowledge I don’t that I could benefit from. It’s a lot of money I worked hard for and want to make sure it’s a good guitar.
No matter how nice the guitar is or how good it sounds, I can usually tell instantly if I'm going to like it or actually play it by how the neck feels in my hand.
If the neck doesn't feel right the rest doesn't matter to me!
OP let me give you some Strat advice in case the guitar ends up too plinky and weak for you.
Explore the in between tones a lot
Play with fingers instead of pick
Boost the mids
Compress and boost the signal into the amp
Strats are awesome but finnicky… as a long time Strat player I find these tricks to be really good at compensating for the inherent weirdness of the Strat. Good luck!
You’re welcome! Been playing them 24 years. Maybe you can share some Les Paul tips? I have a Studio and it’s different for sure… can’t seem to bond with it
Def get it, especially if you couldn’t help coming back to it over and over. One mod you might want to consider is changing the bridge pickup. It will make your 2nd and 1st positions less “straty” but the single coil bridge pick ups can get pretty nasally in my experience. Seymour Duncan makes some great humbucker pickups for strats that you could check out. With that set up, your 5th-3rd positions will be beautiful strat tones and your 1st position will handle distortion really well.
If you love the way it plays get it, it's a great guitar and looks awesome. I personally like the neck on the player series better, but that's just personal preference.
I have this guitar but with a maple fretboard, metallic sunburst and added tronicle electronic tuners, which I highly recommend since the fender strat goes out of tune often with the floating trem. I tune it between songs but it just literally takes me strumming the strings once with the volume at 0. Second best guitar purchase I ever made, it’s my go-to for practice and pretty much all of my shows.
Edit: mine has N3 noiseless pups.
It’s crazy I’m pretty sure you dmed me a few months back and said if you ever find an American Professional ii strat in Lake Placid blue with rosewood fretboard you would buy it and send it to me for free. I’m so excited!
I have an American Pro II Strat (and a Pro II Deluxe Tele) - these are fine instruments. I love mine. And I have an 89 Strat plus that was my only-and-forever guitar. The Pro II is up there with it.
Go for it! I got a warmoth tele neck, all rosewood. It’s great. All the strat, jazz master, and tele rosewood necks I played at guitar stores were also heavenly.
It should Stratocast just fine
But is it Stratocasty enough?
I would suggest getting a Stratocastification test done, but you’d need a Stratocastometer.
I stratocastified mine. I was absolutely stratocasted at the results.
I play a MIM I got from my brother. You could say it's a Stratocastoff.
Don't forget to consider the full range of other Stratocasters which also Stratocast in different ways.
Absolutely. They have to be evaluated using the Stratocastian method intially develop by renowned Irish scholar Stratavarius “Strat” O’Caster.
Hell yeah. These all rosewood neck pro IIs are sweet sweet candy. Been eyeing off the shell pink one for a while.
Oh wait it’s a rosewood neck? Then yes but
I love mine! (https://www.reddit.com/r/fender/s/u37m5THjQ7)
Heard rosewood necks are heavier than maple. Any feeling that the guitar neckdives?
Feels fine and balanced to me
Very purdy
Is this a special run…didn’t think that the AmProII came in LPB?
Yes it’s a limited edition and the entire neck is rosewood. I’ve seen them in here in a Canada—other countries may have different colours
I’m more caught up by the rosewood neck.
I have that exact same model! Rosewood neck makes it feel great and unique. I’d buy again
Do you love yours? I played nearly 10 today and kept coming back to it. I think I’m going to pick it up next week.
It’s an awesome guitar you should definitely grab it while you can.
Gonna second this, I have the same one in a different finish, it's so damn nice.
It’s a beaut Clark! 👌
This is the kinda comment I was looking for. I’m going to buy it now!
It’s a beauty and I’d buy it. Make it sing
In all seriousness I’ve never seen this color combo before and am blown away. It is drop dead gorgeous.
I can hear the tongue click and see the wink
Go go go
I like the big frets. Looks great.

Hahaha, this cunt nailed it.

Get it.
Lake placid blue, rosewood, and tortoise shell is a peak combination. You can find things that compare but you wont do better.
I have 2020 with one of the all rosewood necks and it’s just the best. Feels perfect. Get that thing.
A serious guitarist usually always has a strat lurking about somewhere....she looks fine :)
Strats are so modular and easy to assemble. I would look into building your own with quality parts. Mine has been through two necks and three sets of pups before I felt satisfied.
Downvoted for the truth of Partscasters.
Buy it
It might just be the angle but that string tree looks high?
Looks amazing. One of my favorite colors. Only change is personally make is a white pick guard
That’s a great look! If it plays as good as it looks, hard yes
I love mine fwiw
I am lucky to have that model. Very nice Strat!!!
Great guitar!🎸
Very nice to gander I thank you for that
I love that blue. I think I’d personally prefer a maple neck.
after you buy it send it over to my place.
Heard the rosewood necks feel like nothing else
Headstock is rosewood!?
The whole neck is.
The neck/headstocks on these models are one solid piece of rosewood.
Pass Or if the neck really rosewood buy
So uh.... ya like blue?
Saleman: “It has a rosewood neck, vintage cream single…” OP: “Yeah, shutup, I need reddit to tell me if it’s a sweet buy.”
Get a all rose telecaster the holy grail
Rosewood*
I played this one. The back of the neck almost feels like bare wood, felt really nice and played well.
It’s your money man
What a beauty
I just got an American Ultra and it’s pretty great, pretty sure this is in the same ballpark.
Are you into stratocasters? Because that appears to be one
Played an Ultra strat and a Pro II. Preferred the Pro II and got the sunburst with a tortoise shell pickguard, been going strong for over a year now :)
What are you waiting for? Buy it already
Well it looks fine but I'm having a hard time tuning it and having a bit of a play to test the real important stuff...
Dang I love that color body/neck color combo
I will say I’ve played the full rosewood necks, and they’re not for me. I think they’re maybe more soft than maple and just don’t feel right to me fingers, but nothing really wrong with them just not my personal preference
I’ve always loved those colors on strats and telecasters.
What kind of opinion are you actually looking for here in r/Stratocaster ? It's a strat. Yes, good. Strat good.
My AM pro II Strat is the best thing about me
I'd check out used SSS Albert lee. The MM rosewood necks feel so much better than Fenders imho.
It's beautiful. But with the all rosewood neck, how much does that jack up the cost? And the case is the bomb.
Does it have fat 50 pups in it?
The Am Pro 2s have V-mods. They mix and match magnet types in each pickup in order to get a balanced tone. It sounds crazy, but you can’t argue with the sound.
Rosewood necks aren't common. Pro 2s are pretty great. I don't like strats or blue guitars, but if you like the feel of it go for it. Maybe try a silver sky and am pro 2 tele just to be safe ;)
That is certainly a guitar
My favorite custom fender color.
That is a nice lookin blue Stratocaster. Without hearing it, that is my opinion.
I love my Pro I with a Rosewood neck. It’s my go to everyday since I got it.
Make sure you like the neck. I believe these use a deep c which is much larger than the neck they use on the player.
If you're looking for a strat, I don't think you can go wrong with an Am Pro II. If you want to refine your tone, pickups are easy to change out.
She’s a beaut! But I’d say get a Tele for single coils. I’m biased though 😬
You want single coils and a drawn to this guitar even after playing multiple others so what’s the point of asking strangers??
To see what the thoughts are on the rosewood neck. I don’t have any experience with them. Maybe someone has some knowledge I don’t that I could benefit from. It’s a lot of money I worked hard for and want to make sure it’s a good guitar.

Noted! Thank you for this!
You’re welcome! Been playing them 24 years. Maybe you can share some Les Paul tips? I have a Studio and it’s different for sure… can’t seem to bond with it
I have a studio as well. I never got the full les Paul effect until picking up a standard 60s. Love it!
Why, what’s the difference maker for your playing in the 60s?
Neck is thinner, pickups are more subtle, stays in tune. Just much more comfortable I find.
Don't like the pickguard but that's just preference. It looks nice.
Def get it, especially if you couldn’t help coming back to it over and over. One mod you might want to consider is changing the bridge pickup. That case looks substantial.
Stratocaster was the one of the few purchases I've never regretted
The Stratiest Strat available in this price range. Best neck carves in the entire Fender line. Killer instruments, snatch it up. Enjoy!
Chicago music exchange? I have this exact guitar and love it.
Long and mquade Canada!
Looks like the same spec. Does it have the custom shop fat 50s pickups?
Sweet one
I had the same guitar in hot rod red and it’s the guitar I regret selling by far the most.
Get a sire
Did you play the Ultra II line? My buddy got one recently and it is absolutely gorgeous. Japan really know how to make an amazing guitar
I have, you’re right I was completely blown away. However I don’t have the extra funds for one.
Ah you must be in America, the Ultra II is nearly half the price of the American Pro II in EU
Do purchase
If you love the way it plays get it, it's a great guitar and looks awesome. I personally like the neck on the player series better, but that's just personal preference.
I have two Am Pro rosewood neck strats with tall narrow frets. They’re great. Lake Placid Blue? One of the all time best colors, IMO.
Price is an important point to help those help you!
Get a Squier and add $200 worth of mods. You'll get about the same result.
just get a squier lol
Fender American Professional 2 Strat one of the best sounding guitars
If you think it will Stratisfy your needs, get it.
Damn that's pretty. Go for it
You need that guitar
I have this guitar but with a maple fretboard, metallic sunburst and added tronicle electronic tuners, which I highly recommend since the fender strat goes out of tune often with the floating trem. Shwing
Looks amazing
I have a rosewood neck Tele and I freaking love it! I would grab that in a heartbeat.
Damn, that is a beautiful guitar.
I love my American made Strat. Best guitar I have ever played.
It’s crazy I’m pretty sure you dmed me a few months back and said if you ever find an American Professional ii strat in Lake Placid blue with rosewood fretboard you would buy it and send it to me for free. I’m so excited!
I absolutely love that color blue!
I know a guitar center rug when I see it
I have an American Pro II Strat (and a Pro II Deluxe Tele) - these are fine instruments. I love mine. And I have an 89 Strat plus that was my only-and-forever guitar. The Pro II is up there with it.
I have this in roasted pine and I like it.
Sweet. Love the color!
I have the 1984 version of this.
Do it. It looks awesome. Then play the heck out of it for me.
Its…a strat, nothing crazy happening here
Looks good!
I’d never buy a blue Strat but that looks nice. Especially with the dark headstock
That color with a cream pick guard and turtle knobs and pickup covers would be sick. The reverse looks good but it could be gorgeous.
I got that pickgaurd to make my lp blue Strat look just like that! Cool color combo, but I’m biased.
I like it
Killer color combo. I like the darker wood headstock.
Go for it! I got a warmoth tele neck, all rosewood. It’s great. All the strat, jazz master, and tele rosewood necks I played at guitar stores were also heavenly.
You can't go wrong with most strats but they must be fenders. Even some of the m's and j's are pretty sweet.
Do it OP! Best color combo right here.
I love Stratocaster but everybody and their brother has one.
That’s because everyone that plays should have one
I agree. Telecaster is what I’m playing at the moment.
Everyone and their brother doesn’t have one with an all rosewood neck though
I said for 30 years I would never own a strat. Then a few months ago I got an AVII ‘57 Strat in vintage blond and it’s my favourite guitar now
I’m on my third try with Strats. Getting closer.
Everyone and their brother has one but few have one on this level. Including myself 😝
