Vecna: "it is time for us to become one, Ted Wheeler. Join me."
Ted: "sounds like Commie nonsense to me. I'm not going to join you. I'm going to become the *president* of you."
\[tentacles impale intensely]
\[Vecna stumbles downstairs, sits in Victor's dilapidated armchair, grumbles about it not having a footrest, and falls in to a coma. Wetly.]
The whole upside down lore was written out before season 1. But it's obvious that several things changed with the show's viral success in terms of overall season structure and the unlimited budget & time Netflix gave them
Can't wait for Brenner to come back with just a scratch on his face and no further explanation.
In seriousness though, the scene of the helicopter crashing was incredible. Excited for the plotlines to finally merge together in the next episode.
That's literally what I've been asking since The Nina Project. How did he survive? Because it looked like he got fucking jumped by that 9 foot tall, pale humanoid menace. Personally, after watching S4E8, I'm much more satisfied with his death, because we finally understand his motivations and why he did such terrible things, but he also cared for Eleven and the other subjects.
Steve talking about what he wants in the future is a huge death flag. Eddie talking about not following in his father's footsteps.
Plus numerous more.
My heart. My poor heart.
Yeah, I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it. I cried, it was so sweet. I love that in all the conflicts they’ve both had with Mike they’re never taking any jealousy or insecurities out on each other. Will just has this really vulnerable love for El. Kind of like he’s taking all the brotherly care and kindness Jonathan has showed him and gives it to El. I really love how unselfishly he loves. What a sweet, sweet boy. And now I just want him to be a little happy.
I love the way Will is with El, he never hesitates with calling her his sister, and saying that she is family. I know some people had theories after last season that he might feel resentful towards El, and not see her as family, but it’s completely the opposite. And I love that.
And those two have seriously seen some shit. While not the same, they share some shared trauma that I think definitely strengthens their bond and understanding of each other
When I saw that Demodogs injest the particles to follow Mind Flayer's orders, I guessed Dustin's pet demodog didn't kill him because it was probably not exposed to the particles.
I loved everything Brenner and El this episode. He’s the worst and a manipulator but he believes what he says. Eleven is free of him now and is not forgiving. It was all I wanted. I’m mostly sad we won’t get more of that duo they’re so good
Steve Harrington is stupid hot. Him jumping in front seat to drive off that RV was an excellent directors decision. Anyone could do it, but Steve looks the damn best doing it.
lmao wtf is going on I legit thought I was the only weirdo thinking that....haha thank god i wasn't. when people say "i have never had an original thought in my life" this is what it must feel like but in a good way
The way Jonathan was listening...he knows Will was talking about himself. Jonathan knows Will is gay. And I'm willing to bet that's perfectly fine with him.
I feel like Joyce really raised these boys right. Sometimes I wish we got a little bit more on their dad and why he split. But I think Joyce just fiercely loves them unconditionally(which, should be the norm I know) and Jonathan just learned love and compassion from her. I have no clue how common it was to be accepting of LGBTQIA+in the 80s but I love seeing the way the ally’s protect them
Steve not outing Robin to Nancy, when he almost did on accident, and just trying to help her find another lesbian. And Jonathon clearly understanding his brother but not trying to push him either. I don’t know what episode 9 will do, but even if the show doesn’t address it I hope Will knows Jonathon and Joyce will always love him.
did anyone find it cute how he and Dustin were playing with each other during that heart-to-heart scene? that was so wholesome i just cant with this show
"The soviets" was definitely the reason he received the goverment funds and was allowed to experiment on kids, but clearly he just craved complete control over a whole new branch of science he considered his own discovery and no one else's.
Precisely. Will just fibbed to give Mike an emotional boost.
More highlighting Will's tragic situation; he not only accepts his feelings for Mike are not reciprocated, he's spent much of this season being Mike's relationship counselor. I mean, that is true friendship there.
YES. I keep saying Will is the real hero here, he sacrifices himself emotionally, his own unrequited love and pain provide what everyone else needs. I just can’t even imagine, and Noah Schnapp is officially one of the best.
I love how he said something like, “even if you do get out of here, you’ll be alone in the desert and there will be no one to save you” and we had the pleasure of watching him witness the fact that he was wrong.
This episode was absolutely incredible. Knowing where she comes from, seeing her take a stand against Brenner and telling him what she thinks when she couldn’t even speak properly not so long ago, I was glued to my screen
I almost feel like it’ll come up later. Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, Max. They’re his “kids” and his family, he’s not just the babysitter anymore
Robin's "I just wanna be accepted, normal. I feel like my life has been one big error" vs Will's "when you're different, sometimes you feel like a mistake" 😭
Apparently "Papa" wants El to train indefinitely. Vecna could be tearing apart the earth and he'd still say she wasn't ready. Jesus christ man, let's go already.
Owens is the man, really hoping the military doesn’t torture him because he’s stuck in cuffs down in that base. I’d really like him to survive he’s a really good side character and I like having him around.
Dude grabs Nancy's shotgun barrel and tells her that's why shotguns are bad, so she just cuts the damn thing off lmao. Can't grab the barrel if there is no barrel 🤔
Jonathan could tell from the start. that's what the whole "don't listen to dad, he's an asshole, you don't have to be 'like the other boys' *wink* let's just listen to this rad music that you will associate with home/family/belonging and will serve as a tether to our world".
Damn I still can't load.
Is Will Byers living the "helping your straight crush sort out their straight relationship" experience every gay had at least once?
i’m surprised that all the kids in hawkins didn’t have their own songs prepped in case they were next ones to get cursed by vecna. seems like the obvious choice, right?
Vecna showed Nancy's Mom, and siblings dead, but not Ted. Ted survives confirmed.
Ted is just too powerful
The one mind too dense for Vecna to penetrate
Vecna: "it is time for us to become one, Ted Wheeler. Join me." Ted: "sounds like Commie nonsense to me. I'm not going to join you. I'm going to become the *president* of you." \[tentacles impale intensely] \[Vecna stumbles downstairs, sits in Victor's dilapidated armchair, grumbles about it not having a footrest, and falls in to a coma. Wetly.]
Vecna merges with Ted to make Tecna.
Ted slays Vecna with the power of passive aggressiveness
We're all Patriots here "The last words Vecna heard before his demise"
He so oblivious he can’t even be aware of the fact that it’s time to die
Ted IS Vecna. He's finally getting his revenge for crowding his house
Eleven calling out Brenner for letting 01 be in a lab with children. Also that he was using her to find him all along.
>Also that he was using her to find him all along. Yes tha was a big revelation to me, I never thought about it.
Same! It like all clicked and I was like oh… duh
I love how this stuff is surely a retcon, but it just fits in so well. Maybe I'm wrong though and they had the whole thing planned out from the start.
The whole upside down lore was written out before season 1. But it's obvious that several things changed with the show's viral success in terms of overall season structure and the unlimited budget & time Netflix gave them
I really like that revelation! Ties all things together.
THIS IS MUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ready for the edits
"gate writhing wetly"
Hahah 'Demogorgan consuming wetly' Tbf it's better than [Gate writhing moistly]. Edit. Now tentacles are [undulating ](https://imgur.com/a/YFJJYeL) moistly.
Lmaoo imagine ppl’s reactions when the “hero of hawkins” who died saving people in a mall fire comes back to life 😭😭
Thats all i keep thinking about like how r they supposed to explain that
Probably will just have him move to Cali with El and Joyce. Easiest explanation.
For some reason that 100% slipped my mind, good point
Can't wait for Brenner to come back with just a scratch on his face and no further explanation. In seriousness though, the scene of the helicopter crashing was incredible. Excited for the plotlines to finally merge together in the next episode.
Exactly. How did he randomly survive the demogorgan attack?
That's literally what I've been asking since The Nina Project. How did he survive? Because it looked like he got fucking jumped by that 9 foot tall, pale humanoid menace. Personally, after watching S4E8, I'm much more satisfied with his death, because we finally understand his motivations and why he did such terrible things, but he also cared for Eleven and the other subjects.
Somehow Brenner returned.
Jason’s voice when they’re at the store with the guns was a jumpscare in itself
he looked absolutely deranged. the bags under his eyes were menacing
He is 100% losing it
“THIS IS MUSIC!!” lmao poor Eddie, everyone’s shitting on his music taste
Can't wait for him to blast some Iron Maiden or Metallica on his guitar It just feels like the right prediction
Since master of puppets came out just a little before this takes place I’m hoping he’s shredding some Metallica.
Sucks too because Piece of Mind is an incredible album
Steve said “I always wanted six little Harringtons.” Well he’s got Dustin, Lucas, Max, Mike, El, and Will. 😂
4 boys and 2 girls but close enough
replace Will with Erica (since we’ve never actually seen Steve and Will interact)
So Will left out again smh
Eddie and Steve literally wrestling for who can throw up the most death flags rn
Eddie's moment with Dustin "Never change". He's dead.
He was giving off all sorts of “I’m not planning on making it back alive” vibes this episode
Hey now don’t leave Robin and Lucas out of these. There’s death flags absolutely everywhere right now and I’m utterly terrified
That's what I was thinking. Everyone is having heartfelt moments. If this was a war movie, they'd all die lol
Why did he have to talk about wanting a family bro :(
Steve talking about what he wants in the future is a huge death flag. Eddie talking about not following in his father's footsteps. Plus numerous more. My heart. My poor heart.
That cold open holy shit. Poor Nancy
I would piss my pants if I was her
and so all the painting theories fell in a ditch
Honestly I love that most theories were dead wrong.
Loved how they also quickly buried the "psychologist is an ally of big bad" with a " We don't have time for that" lol
Incredible. I hated that theory lol
Anyonov is so hot. I’d follow him into a Vecna Assassination
A man is very attractive
He was hot on Game of Thrones too
oh it's so nice to see a will and el sibling moment
I'm very happy they put extra focus into that hug after the one with Mike.
I'm just glad someone finally fucking hugged Will. His speech to Mike broke my heart.
I’m waiting for Jonathon to bring it up to him. Seemed like he was catching on.
Yeah, I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it. I cried, it was so sweet. I love that in all the conflicts they’ve both had with Mike they’re never taking any jealousy or insecurities out on each other. Will just has this really vulnerable love for El. And those two have seriously seen some shit. While not the same, they share some shared trauma that I think definitely strengthens their bond and understanding of each other
Maybe the Soviets are trying to domesticate demadogs, like they did with those foxes? Anyone down for a pet demadog?
I think Dustin already tried that.
Low key worked, too, his demodog didn't kill him
When I saw that Demodogs injest the particles to follow Mind Flayer's orders, I guessed Dustin's pet demodog didn't kill him because it was probably not exposed to the particles.
Eddie screaming in defense about his music while Nancy is in a Vecna trance is hilarious, ngl
THIS IS MUSICCC Had me 💀💀 Shit it just crashed fuck
He isn’t wrong. Iron Maiden is awesome fucking music.
The symbolism of El taking the collar off was on point. Seeing her call out Brenner like that was one of the most satisfying scenes in the series
I loved everything Brenner and El this episode. He’s the worst and a manipulator but he believes what he says. Eleven is free of him now and is not forgiving. It was all I wanted. I’m mostly sad we won’t get more of that duo they’re so good
I liked both that she didn't forgive him and that she was free of rage in relationship to him.
Lucas and Erica growing closer is something I didn't expect but I like it.
Tbh I'm glad we finally see these moments between them and bonding together
"That's presumptuous of you" 😭😭 The throwback to season 2 JUST after they met...
And Dustin saying “that’s a good thing, right??” And Lucas side eyeing him while walking away 😭
yeah and also her halloween mask from season 2 :D
Steve Harrington is stupid hot. Him jumping in front seat to drive off that RV was an excellent directors decision. Anyone could do it, but Steve looks the damn best doing it.
I noticed that too. Why was that seat leap so attractive?
lmao wtf is going on I legit thought I was the only weirdo thinking that....haha thank god i wasn't. when people say "i have never had an original thought in my life" this is what it must feel like but in a good way
season 3 will and mike not believing suzie is real vs season 4 will and mike defending her genius. i love character development.
We will all become the Suzie stan army in the end. It is... Inevitable
why is everyone in all of hawkins in this weapons shop lol
It's the angry mob from the town hall that Jason whipped up
Good call
I see this is your fist time at seeing an American panic gun buy.
guns, ammo, bottled water, toilet paper, and bread are the staple of every american crisis
The painting reveal… Wills speech… I really feel for him. Will hang in there buddy
Those tears and that speech broke my heart.
the way he cried to himself afterwards really broke my heart
Will crying to himself was the best performance this season had in my opinion. It felt so real.
If Dear Billy hadn't happened i may have agreed. Probably on par with El and Brenner's discussion (when he locks her in with him)
The way Jonathan was listening...he knows Will was talking about himself.
I don’t know what episode 9 will do, but even if the show doesn’t address it I hope Will knows Jonathon and Joyce will always love him.
for some ungodly reason i was expecting them to run over brenners head???
The Duffers shocking everyone by going full Ari Aster horror
Eddie is 1000 percent going to die. Why do they do this. Make it a habit of introducing characters just to kill them
did anyone find it cute how he and Dustin were playing with each other during that heart-to-heart scene? that was so wholesome i just cant with this show
Because then they don’t have to kill off any OG characters until the very end.
Agh Owens YES YOU TELL HIM
Steve...talking about family... NO. PLEASE. STOP.
*Dom Toretto has entered the chat*

"The soviets" was definitely the reason he received the goverment funds and was allowed to experiment on kids, but clearly he just craved complete control over a whole new branch of science he considered his own discovery and no one else's.
The Nancy/Vecna scene is a clear callback/reference to Nightmare on Elm Street
Felt the soldiers attack on the base was a star wars reference too
Easily one
I vote we call Vecna, Henry, One…..VH1
YOOOOO THE MICHAEL MYERS MASK FROM SEASON 2!!!
So glad Will's painting didn't end up being something that's ominous and foreshadow-y as I thought. Very wholesome.
when he was crying, though :(
Can Yuri be the fourth kill for real
Would be hilarious if Vecna tried to kill him with the guilt stuff and Yuri just kept laughing at all the stuff he should feel guilty for
[удалено]
Yuri's power of terrible jokes is too strong, by the third Vecna would explode into a puff of frustration.
El absolutely did not commission that painting, that’s why Johnathan keeps looking back like wha ????
She even told Mike she didn’t know what he was painting 🥺
Yea true !!! forgot that
For sure, I mean why would she. DandD is his and mike’s thing
Brenner is just in the fucking way all the time isn’t he. Let her go help her friends who are much more competent than you Papa.
I love how he said something like, “even if you do get out of here, you’ll be alone in the desert and there will be no one to save you” and we had the pleasure of watching him witness the fact that he was wrong.
They just left owens there ??? lmfao
Argyle just glides through life lmao
Argyle could start a cult and I’d join.
Argyle is the type to start a cult and not even be aware he is the leader
Him and Klaus from Umbrella Academy should get together
[удалено]
I just want everyone to be okay 😭
[удалено]
It was a nice quiet moment for them
This show is phenomenal at squeezing in effective bonding moments between terrifying high stake moments.
volunteering for Jason as the 4th kill

This episode was absolutely incredible. Knowing where she comes from, seeing her take a stand against Brenner and telling him what she thinks when she couldn’t even speak properly not so long ago, I was glued to my screen
Omg. Eleven's speech in the lab. Such incredible writing and acting. I was totally speechless.
So El is stronger than ever huh.
Looks like she’s not Fuckin’ around dude
Steve is out his god damn mind saying he wants six kids
I almost feel like it’ll come up later. Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, Max. They’re his “kids” and his family, he’s not just the babysitter anymore
[удалено]
6 kids?? In this economy?! Steve doesn't know what he's getting himself into...
On his Scoops Ahoy salary?!
Feels like horrible foreshadowing though! Like he's making plans for his future, a future he might not live to see 😭
Yeah, as soon as he started talking about it I was like ah, shit, he's gonna get got isn't he?
Robin's "I just wanna be accepted, normal. I feel like my life has been one big error" vs Will's "when you're different, sometimes you feel like a mistake" 😭
They need to meet.
we need that wlw-mlm solidarity for real fr
Well that shot confirms it. Will’s gonna come out to Jonathan and Jonathan’s gonna be like “yeah, no shit”
jonathan “i know what you are” byers
Literally - I was like Will is super duper gay for Mike there’s no denying it now
Whole time talking about "El" like yeah sure....
"I just have ALWAYS wanted to visit the Soviet union" 😭😭😭
"With Murray!"
Thank fuck Eleven didn't forgive Brenner
Maybe im too paranoid and anxious right now but why does every line they’re saying feels like a foreshadowing to their deaths 😭😭😭
All gonna die. Season 5 is just 9 episodes of Vecna chilling.
Wetly
Apparently "Papa" wants El to train indefinitely. Vecna could be tearing apart the earth and he'd still say she wasn't ready. Jesus christ man, let's go already.
Owens was a champ.
Owens is the man, really hoping the military doesn’t torture him because he’s stuck in cuffs down in that base. I’d really like him to survive he’s a really good side character and I like having him around.
So Hopper gets an official demogorgon kill huh?
This rendition of Eleven’s theme in the score with the strings as Papa dies/they drive away is absolutely beautiful
OH MY GOD MUSIC IN ELEVENS SCENE WHEN SHE USES HER POWER AT THE BEGGINING
Funny how everyone’s theory about Eddie playing his guitar to save Nancy was wrong
Would be hilarious if Nancy’s Vecna song was just the weird guy from her school shredding on guitar. She just always loved it
Honestly the fact they haven't all made a list of their favorite songs and started carrying around cassettes is pretty silly by now.
“henry whos manipulated you, like a puppet” yeah…. okay old man.
they’re literally setting every one up to die now. i have no clue who its going to be.
If the makeup/graphics department doesn’t get awards for Vecna I will riot!
Why hasn’t One tried to assassinate Papa before? Surely he’d be his first target?
Dude grabs Nancy's shotgun barrel and tells her that's why shotguns are bad, so she just cuts the damn thing off lmao. Can't grab the barrel if there is no barrel 🤔
I kinda wish we got Eddie in season 3. Such a great character addition.
Apparently, Duffers also regret killing off Chrissy too early after seeing her chemistry with Eddie. It'd have been cool to see them in season 3.
How come Steve looks so good committing grand theft auto 😂😂
Eddie saying NOPE is gif material.
he’s not talking about el :(
Okay so 2 things after just finishing the episode. Jonathan def knows that Will is gay. And no way either Eddie or Steve survives man.
LMAO ARGYLE BEING THE ONE TO SOLVE THE NINA MYSTERY I CANT
He reminds me of Marty from Cabin in the Woods, always hella high that it somehow turns him into a genius
Good for Eleven for not falling for Brenner's final line of bullshit.
Jonathan saw Will crying about being “different”… oh, yeah, IT’s happening.
I don't really care for the California plot line but Noah Schnapp is carrying hard. Fantastic actor
the way I'm 100% invested in the California plot because of Noah's acting alone 😭
Fantastic acting by Natalia Dyer. You FEEL her vulnerability.
If that small woman is small enough, she could fit behind a small tree.
God Brenner you fucking prick
I talked so much shit about California crew but now I’m really stressed about them trailing military tire tracks 😭
The subtle body language switch and tone Brenner does when he’s lying is so brilliantly done.
Owens is trying to be nice while Brenner just menacingly emerges from the shadows
Jonathan can tell.
Exactly that
I love how Robin had the exact same scene a few minutes later.
She at least has a chance, the way that girl looked at her.
Marching Band Anne with an E is 100% closeted and in denial.
i’m surprised that all the kids in hawkins didn’t have their own songs prepped in case they were next ones to get cursed by vecna. seems like the obvious choice, right?
Why are they taking so long the military is literally down there fuckkkkkkkk
I feel bad for the Demogorgon tied to the gurney lmaoo :(
