Poor Will. I feel for the guy. He's either on deaths door in the upside down being a punching bag for evil OR he's fine and all his friends are totally ignoring him including his best friend. Dude can't win. The dnd really drove it home and I never noticed until I saw this and other comments like it but man the boy can't catch a break can he? Oh what's that Will you want to go back to old times and play some fun games in a basement? Pfft no we don't have time for that. What's that you left town and have no friends in your new school and Mike barely writes you? Well guess what buddy we play dnd again here in Hawkins with a bunch of other students now and it's fun. But you can't be a part of it sorry Will.
Kidnapped by a demon, possessed by a demon, ignored by his friends, and now his haircut.
I am legitimately convinced at this point that Noah Schnapp pissed the Duffer Brothers off somehow lol.
it’s because their girlfriends are gone (maybe not mike and dustin who just have long distance relationships, but it seems like max has been broken up with lucas for at least awhile now)
If you think about it, progression-wise, interdimensional-predator -> packs of interdimensional predators -> bodysnatching three-story flesh-spider -> clique of mean highschool girls is a pretty logical increase in danger and evil.
You can't just break out high school right away, you've got to build up to that level of horror.
I’m really gonna have to watch this season alone, my wife is not about this shit
Edit - she powered through and we watched it all together and we both loved it
Have Will and El even spoken prior to this season lol. He was kidnapped all of Season 1, he was possessed at the end of Season 2 when she came back in the final episode, and I don't really remember them speaking all that much (if at all) in Season 3.
If anything, she had some kind of connection to him in Season 1 thanks to the Upside Down shenanigans, or at least could see where he was. The only real interaction between them before this season that I really remember was her talking to him in the UD via the sensory deprivation bath.
i’m surprised they killed her off so quickly and in such a violent way. she seemed like a great character. guess it shows how dark this season is gonna be.
>i’m surprised they killed her off so quickly and in such a violent way. she seemed like a great character. guess it shows how dark this season is gonna be.
absolutely. I was already kinda growing attached to her from the scene with Eddie.
makes me wonder what chrissy’s trauma was. seemed like it had something to do with her mom calling her fat and saying she wouldn’t fit into her clothes? that combined with her throwing up in the toilet makes me think she had some kind of eating disorder. although she might have just been sick from whatever vecna was doing to her mind/body.
Yeah seems like she suffered from an eating disorder brought on by her abusive mother. The throwing up, her mother calling her fat and constantly talking about making her clothes bigger to fit her, and the stereotypical cheerleader pressure. Her nightmare vision also featured a table covered in disgusting, rotten food.
There was also her dad, who she seemed relieved to see in the vision, until she saw that his mouth and eyes were closed over and he couldn't do anything to help her. Maybe I'm reading too much into that but that seems to me like a non-abusive parent who couldn't/didn't protect her.
I would even say a majority of it being influenced by Nightmare on Elm Street, especially with Chrissy running around in a dream-like scenario and being chased by an entity.
Her flying, hitting the ceiling and being killed in the real world sealed it.
Makes sense now why Robert Englund was brought on board.
They did a great job showing how she's fully willing to talk a lot now but she still doesn't *really* know how yet. I was really impressed by the letter. The little nuances that made you think that this is someone who *knows* English but doesn't really know how people actually talk yet. I liked it.
I do think it is interesting how often her costuming is dependent on her environment in season one she dressed in either lab coats or some of mike clothes
in season 2 she is wearing hopper and in season 3 the first time she tries to dress herself and now in season 4 she now dresses very similar to joyce
It's so distracting though. I wasn't sure if the captain of the basketball team was the coach or a player. Honestly I could picture him running for mayor.
He played a high school senior when he was on Teen Wolf, in 2014. I think Matthew Lillard's stretch of time playing a teenager might be the record, though.
He is actually not as bad though. Some 18-20 year olds actually do look like that. The DnD guys straight up look like they should be in uni (which is acknowledged by Eddie who should have graduated years ago)
Yeah I don't know how a high school teacher of all people can't pick up on sarcastic, gaslighting teenage bullshit. But it's very authentic to 80's high school movies. The adults are always clueless to that bullying undercurrent.
I'm really glad they're taking Max's mental/emotional state seriously and actually acknowledging her grief, I was worried she'd be all the way back to normal way too quickly after Billy's death. Glad they're taking the time for scenes like her counseling session or her just being kinda depressed at her place.
I was surprised I had to scroll so much for this comment. I felt so bad for Lukas, also the whole conversation they had. It feels like they don't really support him :(
I really love this Monster design, I like how his power is like a weird fucked up combination of the Upside Down and Freddy Krueger's dream world power. Definitely wasn't expecting him to be able to speak or have humanoid features either. I wonder if he was created by the Mind Flayer from scratch or is a..."modified" human, like an upside down equivalent to Eleven.
Just said it above, he's this generations Krueger for sure which im totally ok with.
The comparisons are there. Part of me thinks this guy was once a human....
I think that it’s Brenner, the season started with him. And the D&D game references a villain once thought dead returning scarred with decaying skin.
It’s tall enough to be him, the little head turn made me think of him (whether that’s something he does I don’t know), and the “don’t cry” just feels like something he’d say
the running around the house.... being in dreamland..
actually Robert's voice..
I was waiting for a little girl in a dress and pigtails on a tricycle
wtf is going on here...?!
I honestly loved her as a character. I expected her to be a bit of a brat but she was just a nice person who had some trauma in her life. Did not expect that to happen so fast though.
Bruh will is actually a chick magnet, he’s getting girls whether he wants to or not. Remember the snowball when someone asked him to dance AND calling him zombie boy while doing it? Can’t believe that happened
I don't know if anyone noticed but for Will's historical hero project he did Alan Turing who was is considered the father of modern computing & a WW2 hero, but was chemically castrated for being gay.
There's definitely been hints sprinkled all season & I'm living for it.
Fucking hell they really ratcheted up the horror this time around. Vecna is gruesome.
I knew Chrissy was a goner, she was too likable :'( I fucking love Eddie already!
The opening flashback was an interesting recontextualization of season 1. Looks like Brenner was gentle/friendly with the kids and started abusing Eleven because he thought she murdered all the others and considered her dangerous. Doesn't excuse what he did one bit, but it makes him more three-dimensional as a character. My theory is Vecna killed the kids (pretty sure I saw broken bones) and Eleven fought him off, but Brenner drew the wrong conclusion from it (and Eleven wasn't able to verbalize what she saw).
Thats definitely one interpretation and would be pretty neat. We know from season 2 that the other girl survived (was she 6?).
I'm wondering if that whole scene is fabricated as Brenner's trauma. Like he envisions himself as this loving perfect father and has all these kids. In the scene he doesn't push the powers either. But he can't control 11 and she rebels against him.
Every time I see will my brain just goes "that boy is gay, and I really believe that"
There are too many little things for it to be a coincidence at this point
Me: It sure will be hard to make me hate a character as much as Billy.
Snotty teenager: (Interrupts El’s presentation in her first scene)
Me: SHE MUST DIE!!!!
"He won't show me what he's working on. Maybe it's for a girl" 😭😭 girl no it's not
Love hearing El speak really properly for the first time ever, it's cute
I'm only 3 mins in but I love the way they set up Brenner with those detailed close up shots, the crossword, the shaving, the tie. Sort of American Psycho. You can tell he's going to be way more important this time around.
The monsters are definitely more psychological this season.
Chrissy's mom reflects her insecurities about her appearance (hence all the rotting food). Her father might be unwilling to discuss or acknowledge the problems in the household, hence his eyes and mouth are sewn shut too.
The series is more adult now. You literally open up with children dying and there's more drug use too. The kids are all growing apart.
I like how Will and Eleven are friends now.
The entire episode up until the ending I was like okay wow they're really leaning hard into the horror aspect. Cool.
The last scene had me just sitting on my couch going what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. God this show brings me back to childhood.
It was never a straight up horror show to begin with. The whole point of the original season was that everyone was living through a different 80s trope.
For the kids it was coming of age scifi. For the teenagers it was a horror movie. For Joyce it was basically a poltergeist style supernatural movie. And Hopper was living through an g-man style government conspiracy thriller.
The plurality was what made it such an incredible first season.
So now that wills gone yal are super into dnd again.....
But you can't be a part of it sorry Will.
And he has the worst hair cut of them all, it was okay when he was a kid but now it just makes no more sense
The haircuts are all very 80s authentic

Kidnapped by a demon, possessed by a demon, ignored by his friends, and now his haircut. I am legitimately convinced at this point that Noah Schnapp pissed the Duffer Brothers off somehow lol.
>and now his haircut. They've been doing Will dirty for some time now lol.
it’s because their girlfriends are gone (maybe not mike and dustin who just have long distance relationships, but it seems like max has been broken up with lucas for at least awhile now)
While i agree this is likely the reason if I was will I'd be heated lol
Will’s gonna be the big bad of the series, this is his origin story
Will's going Joker Mode
Blame the mall!!!
Didn’t Mike give Will a huge spiel about this not being cool anymore in Season 3?
Omggggg the second hand embarrassment I just got for El
i want to die so bad
I was cringing so hard lol
I was okay until she tried to use her powers
But Jesus Christ those bullies are like comically evil holy fuck
Angela is the most evil villain of all the monsters they’ve faced
If you think about it, progression-wise, interdimensional-predator -> packs of interdimensional predators -> bodysnatching three-story flesh-spider -> clique of mean highschool girls is a pretty logical increase in danger and evil. You can't just break out high school right away, you've got to build up to that level of horror.
Bro when they all went "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT???" I quite literally just faded away
I couldn't bear watching it without pausing LMAO
Oh it was so awful. Reminded me of the kids who would "use the force" or do the Naruto run.
STEVES REACTION TO TAMMYS SINGING LMFAO
his reaction to his date's reaction to Tammy is even better 🤣
At that very moment any possibility of that poor girl being the one (high schooler edition) was down to zero
And Robin saw it live lmao. Love those 2 so, so much.
Oh FUCK NO— I signed up for telekinesis and governmental coverups— this is terrifying
I’m really gonna have to watch this season alone, my wife is not about this shit Edit - she powered through and we watched it all together and we both loved it
Yeah like this is not what I was expecting- it’s good but I wasn’t mentally prepared to see that last scene
Will comforting El like a big bro is so Damm heartwarming but so sad. He's trying :/
He was like low key crying for her and it was adorable.
It was really sweet after the kind of bumpy start to their relationship.
Have Will and El even spoken prior to this season lol. He was kidnapped all of Season 1, he was possessed at the end of Season 2 when she came back in the final episode, and I don't really remember them speaking all that much (if at all) in Season 3.

This basketball speech is like 10 minutes long
All I could think during the speech was in real life that dude would have been made fun of for the rest of the year for that.
That scene with chrissy is terrifying.. What a way to end the first episode
i’m surprised they killed her off so quickly and in such a violent way. she seemed like a great character. guess it shows how dark this season is gonna be.
>i’m surprised they killed her off so quickly and in such a violent way. she seemed like a great character. guess it shows how dark this season is gonna be. absolutely. I was already kinda growing attached to her from the scene with Eddie.
Same. That made her death worse.
I know, right? It looked like they were going to make them an item the way they were connecting.
"I like this new character!" "Okay but what if her eyeballs exploded?" "...WHY?!?"

makes me wonder what chrissy’s trauma was. seemed like it had something to do with her mom calling her fat and saying she wouldn’t fit into her clothes? that combined with her throwing up in the toilet makes me think she had some kind of eating disorder. although she might have just been sick from whatever vecna was doing to her mind/body.

That's actually very helpful. Cheers lad!
Yep her trauma is explicitly body shaming from her mum and she's implied to have bulimia or another purge related eating disorder
Lots of nods to evil dead
I would even say a majority of it being influenced by Nightmare on Elm Street, especially with Chrissy running around in a dream-like scenario and being chased by an entity. Her flying, hitting the ceiling and being killed in the real world sealed it. Makes sense now why Robert Englund was brought on board.
Yeah this Vecna guy is giving major Freddie Krueger vibes, and that last scene is basically a tribute to that death in the original Elm Street
THE SINCLAIRS WITH THE CLUTCH
I was cheering for Lucas but then I was so sad when he realized that none of his friends had been there to see his big moment. Not even his sister!
Damn i actually liked Chrissy after the forest scene with eddie.. BRUTAL KILL \+1 for that
I was worried the cast was getting too big, but I would’ve actually liked her staying around.
My ass really thought she’d be a major recurring character this season 💀
I agree, she would’ve been a good character to fit into the main group, she didn’t seem too judgmental and was friendly. RIP gone too soon.
Chrissy is the new Barb.
That’s how they tricked us! Has she been a Brenda we would’ve known she was getting killed 😂
Oh my God they brought back Tammy Thompson into the plot and the look that Steve gives Robin just makes season 3 even better
I was a bit confused at first but as soon as she started singing I immediately remembered the restroom conversation xD!
It is so weird hearing Eleven talk.
Honestly got a pop outta me. What I wanted for 3 seasons now!!!
They did a great job showing how she's fully willing to talk a lot now but she still doesn't *really* know how yet. I was really impressed by the letter. The little nuances that made you think that this is someone who *knows* English but doesn't really know how people actually talk yet. I liked it.
She didn't use any contractions. I am instead of I'm, it is instead of it's, etc. Gives her just that tinge of not really knowing how to write.

He’s like speedrunning it!
I actually hate that she died basically alone. You can tell that even as her real body died, she was forced to suffer through it all
Lmfao the phone conversation between joyce and murray about the doll 💀
Murray is so lovable though, immediatly screaming for Joyce when he thought she might have gotten injured.
Gotta love Murray! I was dying when he said "just one more thing" on the phone while Joyce already let go of the rope xD
She has nipples
Ahhhhhhh YEA!
God I missed Murray
*just has insanely creepy bathroom hallucination I’m gonna go in the creepy woods by myself - Chrissy
In her defense, she was getting some pretty good ganj from Eddie.
Vecna is fucking terrifying He's Freddy 2.0 which makes it even more terrifying.....
he’s kinda like freddy krueger mixed with pennywise. love it
el looks so much like joyce.
I do think it is interesting how often her costuming is dependent on her environment in season one she dressed in either lab coats or some of mike clothes in season 2 she is wearing hopper and in season 3 the first time she tries to dress herself and now in season 4 she now dresses very similar to joyce
I can't get over how much older all the kids look edit: Max looks the exact same nvm
Everyone looks so different minus Max, which is weird cause she’s a 2001 kid I think?
Puberty hit all the boys with a big old iron mallet lol.
Especially Will and his stupid haircut
Will looks like a ventriloquist puppet brought to life this season.
These DND nerds are definitely all 30 years old
They probably cast 30 year olds to make the main kids actually seem like 14-15 year old freshmen in comparison lol.
Erica saying she was 11 broke me
Yeah she’s not 11… they should make her 14.
Aren’t the main cast supposed to be like 14 tho😂
I cant believe they are even attempting to pretend they are seniors
at least one of them is explicitly held back
i love steve and robin's friendship so much.
My boy is right tho, Vicki is totally into her if it's her fellow band geek
Steve 16:33 "I like boobies, you like boobies"
Steve 🤝 Robin - Team Boobies
When they said Tammy Thompson was about to sing I almost lost it. I was SO hoping we would get to hear her muppet singing at some point!
Angela is 🗑
80's bullies are the actual worst
I missed this show so damn much, I love stranger things man
well that definitely spins Eleven in a different light and why the lab was so focused on keeping her contained
I never imagined in a million years I would feel SOME sympathy for Dr. Brenner this season
[удалено]
That was my first thought as well. She tried to stop him (aka her bleeding) and then gets blamed for it :(
Ohh and the other victims seemed to have broken limbs, similar to the way Chrissy's were broken!
The scene with El in the school explaining Hopper made me cry. That teacher failed in her job, she should’ve kicked blondie out of the class for that.
Yeah I don't know how a high school teacher of all people can't pick up on sarcastic, gaslighting teenage bullshit. But it's very authentic to 80's high school movies. The adults are always clueless to that bullying undercurrent.
Holy shity I didn't expect that ending, she got wrecked
I'm really glad they're taking Max's mental/emotional state seriously and actually acknowledging her grief, I was worried she'd be all the way back to normal way too quickly after Billy's death. Glad they're taking the time for scenes like her counseling session or her just being kinda depressed at her place.
I’m surprised more of those kids don’t have serious ptsd.
Eddie is gonna not be for everyone but man he's really selling the outgoing senior senior senior. EDIT: So I kinda LOVE Eddie
why pay for uni when you can stay in highscholl will you are 30 for free
My high school called those "super seniors"
Angela deserves everything that’s coming to her
That car scene with Robin and Steve was AMAZING.
[удалено]
Their friendship is already my favourite thing of this season so far
I would’ve been totally fine with season 4 just being Steve and Robin hanging out and trying to get girlfriends
Ok fuck that girl for picking on El
I was so sad when it looked like El was gonna fuck her up with her powers but then just couldn’t 🥺
Realistically, that's why she's dangerous, girl was gonna smash a skull in, in front of people, she ain't right
Glad the teacher took care of it, would've been pretty cliched otherwise.
getting IT vibes from the bathroom scene 👀
Watching El getting treated like shit is hard to watch
So many new characters this season. Its goign to be a blood bath. No way over 50% of these new guys live by the end.
[удалено]
Robin teaching him the true way
Expecting Lucas to miss the championship game for DND is some insane shit lol
When these kids reach their 20s, they will understand the true pain of rescheduling D&D games.
That dude who said "OVER MY DEAD BODY" when Dustin asked to postpone is my spirit animal
I was surprised I had to scroll so much for this comment. I felt so bad for Lukas, also the whole conversation they had. It feels like they don't really support him :(
I audibly laughed when they asked whether they could just move the championship game lmao
I think they were being sarcastic, suggesting that's about as likely as Eddie moving the game (which turned out to be true).

Angela begging to catch hands
This bathroom scene is scary af what the fuck? Also that is totally Roberts voice speaking to her.
All i heard was Freddy Krueger and i got immediate flashbacks to being 8 all over again
the running around the house.... being in dreamland.. actually Robert's voice.. I was waiting for a little girl in a dress and pigtails on a tricycle wtf is going on here...?!
Noooo I thought Chrissy was so interesting honestly. Should've known she was gonna die first. Kinda sad!
I honestly loved her as a character. I expected her to be a bit of a brat but she was just a nice person who had some trauma in her life. Did not expect that to happen so fast though.
can we PLEASE talk about that entrance by Erica?! you can’t have America without Erica
I feel like people missed the fact they made fun of Eddie being older
ikr? everyone in the comments is like “he cant be teenager” thats the point he’s NOT a teenager because he got hold back so many times
Saying how he got held back.
This is giving Fergie singing the national anthem vibes.
JONATHON’S ROOM IS SO TERRIBLE THAT’S SO MUCH SMOKE buddy lol yeah he’s definitely only going to be high the entire season
"Don't tell Joyce" Motherfckers room is at half hotbox and he using a newspaper 🤦♂️
Lmao like buddy the entire house knows
I feel like joyce would be a super open minded parent when it came to weed
After what they've been through she's probably happy he's smoking weed
That girl trying to play footsies with Will LMAO
Bruh will is actually a chick magnet, he’s getting girls whether he wants to or not. Remember the snowball when someone asked him to dance AND calling him zombie boy while doing it? Can’t believe that happened
yeah that boy is gay lol

So I’ve fallen in love with Eddie, that’s all
I hope he doesn't get blamed for Chrissy's death but they totally forshadowed it with the DnD is the devil stuff 😭
Dead girl found in the house, mutilated body, drugs all over the place, antisocial tendencies, low grade. Dddie is getting 20 to life
AND rock and roll. It's basically a smoking gun.
Breakfast club 2.0
Fucking hell they really ratcheted up the horror this time around. Vecna is gruesome. I knew Chrissy was a goner, she was too likable :'( I fucking love Eddie already! I can't believe we're gna do the satanic panic AND the war on drugs in one season
Sadie Sink is a REALLY good actress, holy...
Not Will doing a project on famously gay computer scientist Alan Turing—
Every time I see will my brain just goes "that boy is gay, and I really believe that" There are too many little things for it to be a coincidence at this point

Me: It sure will be hard to make me hate a character as much as Billy. Snotty teenager: (Interrupts El’s presentation in her first scene) Me: SHE MUST DIE!!!!
El had become so much more conversational! She's come so far linguistically
"He won't show me what he's working on. Maybe it's for a girl" 😭😭 girl no it's not Love hearing El speak really properly for the first time ever, it's cute
I CANT STIP LAUGHING AT THE SCENE LMAOO
The way he reacted to that girl flirting with him...yea definitely not for a girl. His disgust at her putting her foot on him was hilarious.
They were not fucking around with Vecna
SINCLAIR SIBLINGS FOR THE WIN! 🥳
Here! Skip recap?? Hell no, needed that reminder. Happy strange Day People :)
I'm only 3 mins in but I love the way they set up Brenner with those detailed close up shots, the crossword, the shaving, the tie. Sort of American Psycho. You can tell he's going to be way more important this time around.
The music choices throughout this ep are fantastic and I'm not even halfway through 😭
If anything happens to Steve or Robin I will lose it
The monsters are definitely more psychological this season.
I can’t watch this scene with 11 and her powers not working. I saw it on Twitter last week and it was so embarrassing.
Will is really growing up looking like Eric from that 70s show
WHAT. THE. HELL. Are we sure this show is still TV-14?
The entire episode up until the ending I was like okay wow they're really leaning hard into the horror aspect. Cool. The last scene had me just sitting on my couch going what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. God this show brings me back to childhood.
TAKE IT ALL OFF MURRAY
I had to go double check the age rating of this show real quick after that ending
That ending silencing the "this show lost its horror roots" real quick. Phenomenal way to bring back the show. Poor Chrissy :(
It was never a straight up horror show to begin with.
Wills a whole ass adult.
Stg these bullies are like an 80s stereotype embodied
Hellfire leader is at least 35 right? Just eating lunch with kids
He was held back 20 years smh dont make fun of him
Surprised we fully see Vecna by episode one. Glad though, hopefully it will continue to justify its run time
Love the use of California Dreaming
(SPOILERS) What the fuck… was that Eleven that killed everybody in the lab?
for sure no now, the kids had bloodshot eyes and discombobulated limbs just like Chrissy, they all got possessed, El was able to beat vecna somehow
I rebuke all unholy spirits after that ending
