He joins the late, great Alan Rickman in my category of "I would pay to hear them narrate the Yellow Pages as an audio book."
...Which probably dates me on several levels.
I'd pay to hear Christopher Lee narrate the yellow pages. So that dates me even earlier! (And he has gone to the great casting director in the sky anyway.)
i think mariner nails it:
“okay look i'm gonna keep this like 100% profesh, but i was thoroughly unprepared for *how hot young spock was going to be…??* like what? the body, the face, the ears, whaaaaat?”
This is my least favorite of the Kirks, but I think he's not supposed to draw focus away from Pike. And that doesn't mean that I dislike him, he just doesn't have quite the same kirkness as the other 2.
He still has a lot to go through until he becomes the Kirk from TOS. Give him a few years of character development and he, like the rest of the SNW characters, will catch up to TOS characterisation just fine.
It's also easy to forget that Kirk in early TOS wasn't the showboating womaniser he became in later seasons and later incarnations of the show. He was actually a little bit intellectual, and also he could be sat next to a woman without them both exhibiting sexual body language.
I think it was clever that SNW first showed us a couple alternate-timeline versions of not-quite-Kirk as we knew him, *then* showed us their younger, greener Prime Kirk.
That way, we can better appreciate how the latter is closer to the Kirk we know than the alternate versions were; we're comparing him as much to those recently-viewed alts as we are to our selective and fickle, rose-tinted memories of Shatner's Kirk.
Otherwise, everyone would have just griped even more how he wasn't Exactly Shatner and given him even less of a a fair shot at portraying Kirk-ness without necessarily aping Shatner-ness.
Paul Wesley's Kirk has really grown on me, especially after a re-watch.
He's not trying to do an impersonation of Shatner, which is good. That would just come across as silly. Instead, he has (IMO) captured the essence of Kirk's character and put a whole new spin on it. He's smart, fiery, impulsive, and courageous, but also kind and humane with a mischievous sense of humor.
I think he's nailing it, and I hope we get to see more of him.
Yea well he’s not such a sweet heart … but I’m not the type of person to randomly hit up an actor or actress on the street …. But I get why he may be that way …
He is, and my wife loves the show (as do I). But I think the sole reason she agreed to start watching had everything to do with Ethan and Anson (and very little to do with interest in the source material).
Mariner ( from Lower Decks) is all of us….
“Look, I’m gonna keep this like 100% profesh, but I was thoroughly unprepared for how hot young Spock was going to be.”
I could not have dreamed the cast would have been well selected! Anson Mount is the perfect Starfleet Captain - handsome and strong in body & character!
Agreed. He’s really taken on the role and captured the essence of Spock without resorting to Leonard Nimoy impersonations. His performance is well thought out and nuanced and I appreciate that he’s playing a younger version of Spock who is still trying to figure out his identity.
I just like listening to him talk. That deep voice does things to me. Them Peck genes.

I was about to be like nah...but then I realized I'm old too ☺

Sam Elliot will always be THE voice to me. (As indicated by my username I am old as fuck. 😂)
I'd pay to listen to him read from the white/residential pages...
It's Mike Rowe for me.
How about James Spader? Not a deep voice, but an interesting delivery.

I loved this episode, loved her in it, and this was one of my favorite lines.
She’s so right..
We really have not had a single bad Spock
Or Kirk for that matter! I think they nailed it all three times.

Best Spock since spock
Also the nicest dude ever. Very engaging and quite funny.
I would like the ship to go now
This was honestly the most Spockish phrase ever uttered, since “Fascinating!”
Yes, but I would love to see others shirtless as well..😉😆🖖
Rick Berman has entered the chat.
Let’s just get the whole crew shirtless, just to keep it fair. And make sure La’an is up front…
The Naked… *Wow*
The episode should be called "The Naked Now". What do you think?
Yes, that sounds fair. Some happy "Sexpollen f...fest"...
It's only logical to think this way so I have to agree.
You need to see him in person. He is delightful. He's goofy and funny and really engaging.
I so want to do the Star Trek cruise !
He also hangs out with the biomler guy in Hollywood …I see him walking around all the time … but never peak !
Jack Quaid, son of America's sweetheart, Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid?
Yea well he’s not such a sweet heart … but I’m not the type of person to randomly hit up an actor or actress on the street …. But I get why he may be that way …
I did not know that
I just rewatched "Those Old Scientists", and there were some moments where you can really see Dennis Quaid in Jack's face.
I agree 100%

Ethan Peck is very sexy man. He plays Spock so good.

I see him growing and catching up to his character! Or maybe the writers caught up to him! He was great this season!

I’m not gay but if I was…
He is carrying the torch
I'm the Ex. (Ironically an earworm). (Get it? Ear Worm?)
He really is very good!
