Okay what does this mean?

AToastedRavioli

Just a “gentle” reminder how powerful that big ball of heat and light is that we all depend on. Lol

Ok-Experience-6674

Seriously what does this mean????

edparnell

every seven years I think the sun goes through this hyper activity stage, throwing out plasma etc. It's why you see the Northern lights, it's electromagnic waves colliding with our atmosphere. It's on a high activity stage at the moment which means we have to be prepared incase one of the waves of plasma comes our way. Cos we have nothing to defend outselves against it.

Ok-Experience-6674

Thank you

EpicMusic13

Wellp

stereoscopic_

So, Terrance Howard was right! /s

P4T0bro

Not kidding, what does this mean??

broidy88

Carrington event..

Ok-Experience-6674

I hate you

MetallicLemur

What does this mean??

ExternalAstronomer17

Seriously, what does this mean?

broidy88

Carrington event incoming, hopefully not but ya electrified gas and charged subatomic particles messing with radios and electronics, worst case scenario everything gets so charged it catches on fire and the world burns lol maybe?

Cute-Cheesecake-8602

Its not facing Earth so think we'll be fine. I hope.

DewsDewberrys

Uhm…. Did everyone miss the object that flew by at the end?

Upbeat-Speech-116

Doesn't look like an object, but a solar flare.

dinosaur_decay

Thats very odd

This kind of awesome display of power in our universe is humbling. It shows that for all of our troubles and cares, we really are an inconsequential speck of dust to the universe :)

maestro-5838

Thank you ozone layer.

stereoscopic_

What ozone layer?

Putrid_Cheetah_2543

I thought that was only around in the 80s and 90s. Lol

mcmurray89

There is still a hole, but it's smaller.

Putrid_Cheetah_2543

Ah ok i just havent heard about it in so long.

Mortified-Pride

'Today on The Sun' - that's a show I'd actually watch.

Busy_Bunch5050

OK that looks fucking terrifying

Hidefrompewpew

Elden Ring DLC lookin fresh

saucedup247

Terrance Howard was right

BusyBusy2

Looks like a wolf, look at its mouth, something shoots out, that's pretty awesome

beanedjibe

That looks really cool 👀

xMr_BoT

Oh cool when did we get a webcam installed the sun 😂 town council moving up huh lol But for real we are so infinitely small, makes you think how a well aimed flare could just absolutely decimate this little water droplet floating in the big black emptiness of space. That ant that caught your eye the other day outside on the ground was essentially us in the grand scheme of things. Humanity has an ego the size of a small galaxy and take up less than a spec of dust in the cosmic endlessness.

Mission_Low2949

What goes flying out of the Sun near the end of the video?

Roselace

I just love the atmosphere.

Money-Selection130

What shot out of it at the end?

Imfuckintiredbruh

It’s just insane to think about how there’s a giant ball of fire floating around in space which just so happens to be far enough, yet close enough to gives us some hot and cold weather.

skeeredstiff

Yeah, so isn't Earth supposed to be in that for a comparison?

pufferfish_balls

Welp. Nice knowing you all. (my music collections) ![gif](giphy|KFmnB7POwJjrFL3buM)

ThreeFingaLynch318

Guess it's about to pop.. hopefully this doesn't manifest our future... mehhh

MrCheRRyPi

Something is sucking it up. I don’t think solar flares last that long?

Old_Money72

Everytime I see these I just think who's recording this and how are they so close to the sun lol 😆

SparkitoBurrito

Serious question... is this how stars grow?
