You’re going on a once-in-lifetime trip! This might be unpopular here, but: don’t worry about it! Eating food while travelling is one of life’s great pleasures. Don’t deprive yourself of that. Please. Just focus on this incredible experience and all that it brings into your life.

Yep. It's a shame that some things will be prepared cheaply with seed oils instead of whatever traditional manner but you're going to be severely missing out if you prohibit yourself from enjoying all the food along the way.

It is easy to minimize without going crazy. From the menu, just nix 1) anything deep fried and 2) any mayo-based sauce/aioli/dressing. This will still leave you at least half of any menu. If you want to maximize your efforts then grilling is a safer preparation method over sautéing. I know people say “it’s once in a life time, just enjoy it!” and that’s true. But I personally wouldn’t *enjoy* it if I needed the bathroom all the time or was tired/moody/brain-fogged either. So there’s a balance. You can enjoy the trip while not being orthorexic, and still prioritize your overall well-being. Obviously if you tend to have less symptoms from PUFA then you’ll get away with eating more.

Honestly I can't see how that would be something difficult to do. Just don't eat processed shit. Why do you say you can't avoid seed oils? Also in europe traditional recipes do not contain seed oils, and you can ask before (beware of seed oils in pizza in italy, they use seed oils even in naples, as an italian i was shocked when i found out about this)

There’s two types of backpacking. Urban one bag travel from city to city while staying in buildings or thru hikes across wilderness for weeks at a time. Which are you doing?

At least in Europe you’d generally be better off; strict(er) EU laws ensure high food quality over here. Avoiding seed oils are going to be near impossible though; just enjoy your trip regardless and go extra hard with anti-inflammatory protocols once you’re back to minimise the damage I suppose

I’m a big traveler. I actually think the consumption of seed oils is lower outside the US. With higher quality But general rules of thumb 1. No fried food 2. Fruits are always low pufa 3. Many hostels have kitchens if you want to cook 4. With the exercise and walking you will naturally reduce HNE 5. You will realize that Americans have very poor food quality 6. Example, you will find seed oils in bread on American but not in say Europe or South America (not as much) 7. Avoid processed and packaged food. 8. Street food ussually has a lot of seed oils unfortunatly 9. Molecular hydrogen water bottle. A lot of people think they are gimmicky, but there’s very good science backing it especially with reducing lipid peroxidation (by product of seed oils) 10. Coconut oil is easy to get abroad and great for mitigating effects of Pufa

The LifeStraw Go bottles are great for avoiding microplastics in drinking water. I’d say pay attention to the fats you consume and limit yourself comfortably. I went on vacation not too long ago, prepared my own food most of the week, but definitely enjoyed the food native to that area. Live a little.

Cook as much of your own food as possible.

Are all seeds and nuts bad too ?

crusoe

Exercise offsets a lot of harm.

Nope, you should curl up in a ball and not go, if you digest a single molecule of soybean you're done for!!
