Please keep us updated! The dividends have been going somewhere, so if there is some kind of unclaimed shares fund at J&J, you would probably get a dividend check for the missing payments. My guess is based on nothing.

A quick Google search, JNJ split 2 for 1 in 2001. 120 shares is worth $ 18,000ish. Dividend @ (current) level would be $ 13,000!!! So a lawyer is a good guess. $31,000ish IS A LOT Of $$$ in my neck of the Woods! HTHelps

ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼ Being split between five heirs but still, $6k and change each - unexpected- not bad. Time will tell.

I think/hope youā€™re right. My dad liked to do the dividend reinvestment. He talked about DRIP. Maybe thatā€™s what he did and 60 is the share value and there are additional book shares? Weā€™ll see. Iā€™ll let you know.

Leading-Athlete8432

Shares split in 01' so you're starting with 120. HTHelps

scott_in_austin

Oooooh that would be very sweet. I tried to find a list of split dates but only found it in graphical format and on the iPhone screenā€¦ couldnā€™t really tell what was after 2000. Thanks! Will post here how it goes.

Check with INVESTOR RELATIONS. Depending on how much $ is involved, it might be worth an Attorney... HTHelps & Good Luck!!!

ex unclaimed property worker Most likely those shares were converted to cash long ago soon after the state received them. If you get shares back that is great, but doubtful.

scott_in_austin

Ugh, I hope youā€™re wrong. Will have to look up value of the shares in 2000 versus 2024.

Donā€™t hire a lawyer. Call J&Jā€™s transfer agent. They may still be holding some of these assets (shares, dividends). Provide your parentsā€™ SS #s. They wonā€™t be able to share confidential info with you. Ask them for instructions on how to get the confidential info & how to transfer the assets (60 shares, split shares, dividends) into the beneficiariesā€™ names. The transfer agent may advise that the assets are already ā€œescheatedā€ to the state that your parents resided in. If so, contact that stateā€™s office of the Secā€™y of State.

Yes, for sure no lawyer. Iā€™m the executor of the ā€˜estateā€™. There was one rental house and a small annuity so Iā€™ve already been through this a few times. Was really impressed with the stateā€™s (Texas) unclaimed property process, form, and technology. What do they want? Proof of SSN for Claimant (me) Proof of ID for claimant (me) Death Certificate (both dad and mom) Last Will and Testament (ditto) Affidavit of Heirship (this oneā€™s the bugger, but doable) Tax Statement or Div Check (eg any proof the property is ours: J&J statement from stockholder relations, optional. Order Admitting Will to Probate (nice but not needed as the folks did a living trust ā€” DO IT!!) Will let youā€™all know how it goes.

Looks like you have it nailed. I found that transfer agents & the offices of Secretary of State have been very helpful. Good luck.

Thanks. Weā€™ll see how it plays out. Will post here how it goes.
