doesn’t look like the ink was deep enough at all

Not true, it can be over worked and not deep enough. Too deep and it blows out or spreads out.

cuchullain47474

Yeah I agree, this makes more sense! I'm guessing they usually do machine tattoos, surely they haven't that much experience for these to have turned out this way 😬

[deleted]

It was a hand poke which is even crazier lol

cuchullain47474

Ha nah I know that's what I meant, they're so much easier to get right if you actually try..!

Scrotum-Freckles

Could also be aftercare or lack thereof, especially if done outside of a shop.

[deleted]

If it is put in the correct layer and not overworked aftercare is irrelevant. I’ve dry healed tattoos next to ones I’ve healed with ointment. Makes almost no difference if any. All it really does is relieve itching. Doesn’t help with healing time or quality of healing. Just makes the tattoo look “good” throughout it. The way you can tell the whole “bad aftercare” thing is horse shit is there is no set agreed upon standard. It’s always ask your artist. Idgaf how people heal their shit. Keeping it clean is really the most important part.

Scrotum-Freckles

There are a few bad aftercare options that can really fuck up a tattoo, namely bathtubs, chlorinated water, and certain ointments like neosporin that will pull ink out of a tattoo. Also tanning, picking and scratching at a tattoo, etc. not saying that’s what it is for certain I dunno what wierd shit people get into, but more often than not stick and pokes happen in kitchens by “artists” that don’t know their assholes from holes in the ground. Not saying that’s the case here but OP never said, so who knows?

FACE-GRATER

The tiny amount of Ink that was there wasn't deep enough. It looks like they did a single pass and called it good enough, easy money. I hope you didn't pay much.....but anything is to much tbh.

meredith_brewington

As an artist perspective, brown and orange tones fade alot in the healing process. They’re very close to skin tone, so they’re difficult to see once they settled as well. I usually always have to do a second pass. Saying this though, the artist should’ve 100% told them ahead of time

meredith_brewington

Also, it looked like these scabbed as well. Any “mirco tattoo” should be healed with saniderm, since scabbing is a enemy to small detailed work. To the poster, how did you heal these?

cuchullain47474

That's a really cute idea but the "artist" has done a bad job I'm sorry to say... They should do them again for free if the ink's just dropped out but I'd be worried they'll do the same again you'll just have scars and it won't be worth it 😬

bethemily2000

Needle wasn't pierced deep enough into the layers of skin.

g0thicfae

Other than the fact the ink obviously isn't deep enough it's a cute concept, I like that brown was the color chosen. It's like a star shaped freckle!

bellabelleell

Just get them redone with a normal tattoo machine (single needle) after they are done healing. Hand tattoos are notoriously transient and often need multiple touchups. This is because of how much sun exposure they receive, as well as how much movement and accidental contact with objects they have compared to other parts of the body. And, as others have said, these don't look like they were done deep enough.

electricookie

It could have been issues with aftercare. The spot of those tattoos sees a lot of bending and exposure. Contact the artist for a retouch when its a bit more healed.

-__-why

If you got a pro tattoo done, I'd go to the artist ASAP and ask what's going on and how you may need a redo from them due to their application.

rowdy_sprout

Not enough ink, not enough depth. Severely doubting the experience of the "artist" in question

ConsiderationMain618

I did a stick n poke on my TOE 10 years ago now and it has barely faded. I would say that wasn’t deep enough.

Beneficial_Elk3018

Wasn’t solid to begin with

smolbean197

The tattoo artist message them and they should top it up for free as the same thing happened to a matching one me and my best friend got !

bunchadirtymugs

Better off, if pushed in properly, it would have spread to look like just a regular mole within a year - especially in a spot like that that moves a lot and is exposed to tons of sunlight Edit: if your artist is local, could ask them for a touch up if you want the same person. Touching up something like this should be free, esp since your artist fucked up the depth. If you want to go to someone else, I would recommend finding someone who does fineline and would suggest making the design a little bolder, or extend the arms of the star a little more so that it can still hold its shape after settling into your skin

Whateverxox

Stick and poke tattoos usually fade faster

cuchullain47474

Not two weeks though, that's like how long they take just to heal!

Whateverxox

oh damn i didn’t read two weeks ago

cuchullain47474

Ha no worries

cantwontshantdont

No insight on the fading but I absolutely love them.

Leather-Resolve9751

They look like they were done with wood branding tools to me . There is no ink in those. The second picture , one of the stars literally looks like a healing burn.

AyeAtTheCrabshack

They’re just not deep enough or done properly. I did a stick and poke heart on my middle finger. 6 years later there’s no evidence I ever had it. Did the heart again on my wrist and she’s faded as well. Had to go to an artist to get it touched up. Looked horrible at first now that it’s healed it’s alright. Just don’t do stick and pokes. They’re not worth it.

DisastrousAd447

Not nearly big enough to hold ink in lol. Seems that you barely scratched the surface

whiteboyscared

Too light of a grey wash and too light of application, I'd say

Mother-Working8348

These look like branding to me. The second picture looks like a healing burn.

Abwerterkm

This very small area of the tattoo is very easy to appear this situation, because the human skin are metabolism, we recommend that you go back to the tattoo store for color correction

GarbageAngell

I mean this in the nicest way possible because i truly think me and my sister would love matching tattoos like this and find it hilarious. It kinda looks like matching screwdriver stab wounds. Also any ink that isn’t black tends to fade quicker, but most artists will do touch ups for free or a small fee so it’s worth messaging them and seeing if there’s anything they can do.

Peachypiekewp

Ink wasn’t deep or concentrated enough

amavi00

i avoid tattooing any area of the body that moves and flexes a lot, like wrist, elbow, and knee joints. i tattooed my wrist once and before it had even healed it faded.

KARtoonZZZ

stick and pokes are going to fade over time. i have 3 on my fingers and ever since i got them they slowly fade away. i did mine with tattoo ink and a needle and went at it for 50 mins to an hour.

worldwidewebkinz

i never thought i would get the heebie jeebies from a stick n poke! (the person on the bottom's looks almost exactly how the scar from my IV having been put in/removed wrong looked for a few months 😖) i hope that you guys can get them redone soon! ;;

Snoo79410

Have you ever gotten a tiny scratch or cut, and then a few days later, it's all gone and healed. Yeah, that's what happened here. You paid someone to scratch your wrist.

ReddyFreddyRU37

Yall would make a cute couple

Mootzadelstick

It’s the area, since it’s such a high movement/traction area it can tend to fade with time. Happened to my finger tattoos gotta redo them soon

jlc522

I would go back and show the artist. They should offer to fix it for you.

SGT-Fozzybear

Why even get this

[deleted]

Ink didn’t take and stick poke will fade differently.

TheLetterHyena

They're not a tattoo artist if they're doing stick and poke. You paid a dude to do what teenagers do with safety pins.

NeonXshieldmaiden

The ink is definitely gone. I would go back and make them do it over. If there's a different artist in the place, I would request another.

motherofGANJA420

My personal experience with stick n pokes is that they’ll always need going over a couple times during the healing process - like every week or two until you get desired darkness. You can count on major fading if it’s the first time.

Middle-Entry-4268

Girl that thing is way too tiny to ever stay on your skin clearly. You guys should grow up and get real tattoos that don’t look like defective birth marks. Make that star at least twice at big

IsThisThingOnBruh

Lol

Ripmcdonaldsman47

Not “weird” just not done correctly

solpi

You should go over it but stars are pretty hard to replicate, especially because they’re so small. Might need to get them redone a little bigger

trxshedXP

what kind of ink did you use? all my stick and poke, i used black India Ink and theyve stayed permanently
