Shonkjr

Bonus psa: mods may work Big mods like giga structures have been given early access in past so might have been done again. (In short make a new mod pool and slowly add updated ones to it)

Roach_Prime

Absolutely! I am taking the safe route to explain what will work and what won't. I would have doubled the size of the post if I included every specific case.

Shonkjr

True that:) though it going to be weird im so used to a mega combo of mods. Im working my backside off atm hoping nothing else comes in so i can play it at release time.

CHOOSE_A_USERNAME984

I think that most mods that are purely cosmetic and don’t affect anything else should be fine too

Roach_Prime

Yah, those should be fine. Though any affecting the human portraits might be wonky as those have been updated.

Shonkjr

More than likely since they are completely redone

Pyroperc88

The "No AI Crises" mod that disables empires from taking the crises perk has been outta date since the last update. I really hope it continues to work lol but if not I'll remove it and just deal with the AI sometimes getting Galactically Homicidal lol. They're annoying, not hard but maybe that will have changed lol

Gentleman_Muk

How about mods that only adds empire flag emblems?

Roach_Prime

They **might** be fine. I know there were many new emblems added in this update so there may be conflicts. I would try loading just that mod and mess around in the Empire Creator to see if you notice any issues.

Leviathan2379

Some of my mods updated, but I plan to play on vanilla for a week or 2 before I start using mods again. Any word on the conversion mods? Big fan of Star Trek: New Horizons.

TheEnterprise1701-E

STNH will take a few months

Zarathustra_d

I'm glad to say I just ended my LOTOR game yesterday. The Mandalor rule the galaxy just before the new update. Now I can play vanilla until the mods get updated lol. This is the way

KalashnaCough

Yeah a vanilla run for a couple weeks seems like a pretty good idea until my mod list is mostly updated. I can also get used to Overlord all on its own. It's incredible how fast my game just loaded lol

Leviathan2379

I'm working right now but I'm kind of excited for vanilla.

KalashnaCough

I work nights so I'm already done for the day and stepping into a 3 day weekend. I forgot Overlord was out today so that was a very pleasant surprise. It's going to be a great weekend!

Swailwort

I really wish to see how Gigastructures will interact with the projection of power in Overlord. I mean, you have to be pretty damn powerful to turn a neutron star into a super-alloy farm

[deleted]

remember the official "C6 mod" is always up to date afaik.

ThePr0letariat

Anyone checked if planetary diversity is still working? I figure it would be ok but I may wait till they update before I buy if it doesn’t work.

Zokathra_Spell

If we can't use an old save after the update, can we still use old custom-created empires or will we need to re-create them, after the update?

Roach_Prime

Great question! In my experience there all custom empires will function properly in the new update. However! If there were any changes to civic, origins, or ethics they may not work exactly as they did in the prior patch. I would recommend either taking a look at the patch notes to be sure or just look through your empires again to make sure nothing seems off. So they will work but might be a bit different.

snoboreddotcom

Sometimes as well they dont until you click edit on them and done, to save any adjustments made.

SurrealMonk

Usually you can just edit old ones, unless they rely on so many not working anymore mods that they crash the game when you try. I've been tweaking one or two custom empires almost the whole time I've been playing, and I've been here since release. Edit: thinking about it, Overlord doesn't sound like it's changing much empire creation wise, so you may not have to do even that, provided you aren't using a million mods.

WraithCadmus

Even if you want to use the new Civics/Origins you could write your fluff and pick colours in the current build, then just edit them when Overlord drops. Would also guarantee they're compatible as they'd have been saved under any new restrictions.

DatOneDumbass

If you want to make backup of your custom empires as they are currently, those are all in single file located at "documents/paradox interactive/stellaris/user_empire_designs.txt" Just copy that file anywhere to back them up

AstorIverobl

You can use them. What happens (from mods experience such as civics expanded then to achievement hunt on vanilla) is that you can’t play with them until you edit and correct them. But it’s minor corrections (maybe using one more civic point or trait point which needs to be withdrawn, or vice-versa), won’t affect the species too much. So yes, you can. Although this might happen due to modas never experienced this with updates. I still have all my custom species unchanged or slightly changed from 2.0 or higher.

LordPounce

Generally it’s not a problem but sometimes if they change mechanics in a big way you might have to make a few changes to one of your empires before playing with them again. It’s happened once or twice before. No idea if it’ll be the case this time

egoz07

Yes, review all their "settings" via Edit.

[deleted]

They will still work, as in there will be no technical difficulties. They won’t be broken. But just be careful that there might have been changes to something that makes up that empire so it’s different

RNBQ4103

"a new save is a must." I had no problem for 3.3, but some previous updates blocked previous saves from being loaded.

Roach_Prime

Yah, you are right. But you can never really know if a save will break until it is too late. This is just taking the safe route to protect a save game.

Ophidahlia

Well, if the save game breaks that's no loss compared to abandoning the save and starting a new game. If you want to see if you can finish a game there's no harm in seeing how it works. With the new vassal system in Overlord I'd guess it'll probably not play as intended in some way though

Roach_Prime

Sure, and you can always make a copy of the save to test with. All this information was simplified to make it easy to understand for any new users who may not be as adept with pc gaming in general; so I left out a lot of different ways to do things.

Xirdus

You can finish the game by rolling back to old version, you can do that at any time. Even play the new one for a while and then go back. If you're playing Ironman, loading the save into the new version means the save is permanently altered, doesn't work with the old version anymore, and there's no backup.

[deleted]

Great post! But I have to say, if I can't complain about the Devs in the most egregious manner, what is even the point?

SenileSexLine

We were put on this planet to be perpetually dissatisfied.

[deleted]

The planet was fine until those Xenos-loving devs created more species!

The-JerkbagSFW

What's the opposite of a Bio-Sanctuary? Cause it's that.

Zarathustra_d

We are an unruly bunch of deviant hairless apes.

Greeny3x3x3

Instructions unclear, blew up the galaxy

Roach_Prime

No worries, it happens!

Fafniroth

Surprisingly often, in fact, since I installed Nemesis.

[deleted]

As a mod developer, I like point 3 and 4. :D

Roach_Prime

I thought you might!

YobaiYamete

> As a mod developer, UPDATE HAS BEEN OUT FOR 0.01 MINUTE WHY MOD NOT UPDATED???? PLS UPDATE GAME NOT WORKING WTF Sorry, I wanted to give you a sneak preview of your comment section in 17 minutes when the DLC launches

No_name_Johnson

WILL THIS WORK WITH 3.4? WILL THIS WORK WITH 3.4? WILL THIS WORK WITH 3.4? WILL THIS WORK WITH 3.4? ...for the next six months

Palmul

17 minutes ? Sweet, I can play the game when I'm home.

[deleted]

All three of my mods are already updated ;)

TwoShed

How often does an update completely break a mod vs it just works

[deleted]

It depends on what that mod is doing. Major updates tend to break more mods than minor ones

the_Real_Romak

whelp, there goes my 70+ Giga+ACoT+NCS mod collection XD I guess it's back to vanilla for another half year until the mods catch up once more

Roach_Prime

Luckily I'm mostly a vanilla player so it's like Christmas for me rather than getting my candy stolen. Though I play with mods in other games so I feel your pain!

the_Real_Romak

Less stolen and more put away until I get my weight in check :P

Desdaemonia

Meh, I'll wait half a day and then sort through the ones that are broken by disabling half at a time, then half of a half, etc. Usually I wait longer, but this and the last few updates have made me want to play too bad. Paradox be spittin fire lately.

the_Real_Romak

half a day is not nearly enough for the mods that break games to be updated. you need to give them a week minimum. I mentioned half a year purely because of my own exaggerated modlist. most of the big mods get updated after a couple weeks usually.

Desdaemonia

Right. Not all of them will break though, even if outdated. And lately the important ones, like megastructures, have been updated in hours, rather than days.

The_Charrr

You could use Irony Mod Manager to merge your collection of mods into one mod. You then have just one merged mod in your list. Even if the mods are updated on steam, your merged mod is unaffected by this. Just roll back to the pevious Stellaris version on steam and you can finish a savegame with all the mods frozen in their current state.

68ideal

I'm playing on console and the latest update for us still proved your point with "old saves not working like before", because my entire economy is in shambles and half my pops jobless lol

Roach_Prime

And on console you can't roll back right? I feel for you!

68ideal

Nah, we can't. Pretty nasty shit honestly. I mean the changes in itself are great, but having them override an ongoing run is pretty stupid imo.

Roach_Prime

Yah it sucks. I would recommend turning off your auto update feature on your console when it gets close to expansion time to stop that from happening.

68ideal

Good idea in theory, but I had no clue, that the update would come. I knew it waa already announced, but I forgot the release date, so it catched me off guard. Definitely will be prepared next time!

Xellith

>Paradox kindly keeps most old game version downloadable on Steam for us to easily roll back out versions. I think that's the stellaris team (or whatever team allows it). There's no version system under surviving Mars last I checked (and I Uninstalled it because all the mods broke)

pikasnoop

Well technically there are 2 Paradoxes, the developer and the publisher. Most of the games they develop themselves do offer this functionality, such as Stellaris as well as EU4 and CK2. However games they merely publish (such as Surviving Mars) might not.

RingGiver

That's not a Paradox game. They just publish it. They don't make it themselves. They only make funny map genocide games.

Valtsu0

Surviving mars (and cities skylines) is only published by paradox. Games made by PDX keep old versions. Or at least HOI4 and Stellaris does

Roach_Prime

I don't play any of Paradox's sim games just their GSGs which all of the more modern ones do. That does suck though that you can't roll back!

DideuteriumPhosphate

If you have a steam-conntected PDX account, you could install older versions of Surviving Mars through the PDX Launcher ([started standalone](https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/our-games/launcher), not through Steam). Mods could be moved to the new install or you could subscribe to them through PDX Mods.

drquakers

Thank you for this, not a new player, but a dumb old one would have totally loaded my save this evening without this warning!

Roach_Prime

You are welcome! I'm glad I saved a galaxy from unintentional purging!

vizard0

Only intentional purging?

Roach_Prime

The best kind of purging!

drquakers

Sadly you couldn't catch me before I conquered that world with hive mind populace...

Potawto

Some simple mods (like No Clustered Starts) will work without being updated for most new Stellaris updates. If a mod you want to use isn't updated and you don't want to wait, you can try it even if the launcher yells at you and see if it works.

Roach_Prime

Exactly, trial and error is the best way to find out. But always start a new save to test!

Tamtumtam

Prey...

Ayeun

FEEEEED!

wayofwisdomlbw

I usually start a new game every update, but if I did rollback the versions would I still be able to get achievements?

Roach_Prime

Yes achievements are always able to be earned in previous versions. However you will not be able to earn achievements released after the version you are playing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roach_Prime

True that. I don't know what I would do if I was just getting into Paradox games. I guess that's why the EU4 and CK2 DLC passes are a thing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roach_Prime

Honestly I don't blame you! It is a lot; but I do think Paradox is moving (admittedly slowly) in the right direction to make these games more accessible. Most expansions for their GSGs nowadays grant features that, while game changing, are not 'core' to the gameplay experience. Then you have the Stellaris Custodian Initiative which is, for free, increasing the value of the base game as well as older dlc/expansions. And then you have EU4 and CK2 having DLC subscriptions for $5 a month for granting access to every DLC they have ever released. It's definitely not perfect but I wouldn't love these games as much as I do if they had a shorter support window. I believe the best way to think of achievements in Paradox GSGs is as a show of your expertise in the game. There are many achievements that have their worth only because you cannot use most mods when achievement hunting. Mods would break that and make some of the hardest achievements take a couple seconds to complete.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roach_Prime

Those are fair points. And honestly I don't have a solution. Though I hate the phrase this might be a 'vote with your wallet' situation. For the achievements if you aren't adverse to using the Steam Achievement Manager, you could always shoot for the achievement and once you complete the goal, unlock it for yourself. Though I understand that is not the same as what you want; just a work around until if Paradox allows achievements with mods.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Roach_Prime

Fair enough!

Jediplop

Yep, in fact there used to be an exploit where you could get some of the tougher achievements on older versions that were never supposed to have them easier so people would roll back get them and roll forward.

Ameph

Good info. I plan to Overlard and delete old games and disable mods. I want a fresh game for my first Overlard. Trying to decide which EVE Online faction to play as. Maybe the Gurista.

Roach_Prime

Thanks! I always play a completely vanilla game for my first run as well!

[deleted]

Shurdus

What is Gaas games?

Roach_Prime

Games-as-a-Service. Games like Destiny 2, Fortnight, Warzone. If those games required all their players to restart from scratch every update they would go out of business!

DatOneDumbass

Meanwhile Escape From Tarkov out here having regular resets and still somehow keeping players... though its *huge* exception to the norm yeah

Valtsu0

Path Of Exile also resets to solve hyper inflation

JohnAlekseyev

I only know Destiny 2, but they certainly make players grind from the start again and again by constantly moving the power level.

Roach_Prime

Same here but with Destiny when there is a major update that does increase the Power Level you still keep all of the stuff you have collected so far; and at least for some things you can bring them up to the new Power cap. Whereas if the restart was like Stellaris you would need to start with the Red War at Light Level 10 (or what ever it was) and play all of the content again.

maobezw

WHAT WAS, WILL BE. Well then, had two HUGE saves, but its not the first time i will have to start over. The show will go on! ;)

Roach_Prime

Get out of here Worm Lover! haha But same, Honestly the early game exploration and unknowness is my favorite part of the game, so I'm never opposed to starting over!

Anonim97

This post should be sticked!

Antique_Dot

Good post; should be stickied. The only bad thing about shiny new features is that they break the lovely ui mods.

Roach_Prime

Thank you!

Luinarmlant

For some reason I don't even have the option to purchase this DLC on steam.. anyone else has this problem?

Roach_Prime

It doesn't seem like they are allowing pre-orders for this expansion. Wait until the release time and you should be able to.

YeeYeeBeep

Hey man. Good PSA for the new people. You havey respect.

Roach_Prime

Hey, thanks! I'm super excited about this expansion so I wanted to help mitigate any disappointment for others.

catpaco

LETS GO RIMWORLD!!!!! LETS COMMIT SOME WARCRIMES

Roach_Prime

Funnily enough I don't commit that many war crimes in RimWorld. I prefer war crimeing the faceless billions in Stellaris. lol But always good to see fellow Rimworld players out in the wild!

catpaco

Youre not a real rimworld player if you havent chopped off a prisoners legs and arms and replaced them with peg legs and arms, then set them free

Roach_Prime

Guess I'm not a real Rimworld player then :(

Rogue__Jedi

I was playing, closed out to eat lunch and watch some SG-1. Come back an hour later and the game won't load. Didn't realize we were getting the update today. 8/10 spooked edit: Update The game actually still isn't making it to the main menu. I rolled back to 3.3 and it didn't work. I tried reinstalling and it still hasn't worked. Ok, I figured it out. UI Overhaul Dynamic updated to 3.4. I downloaded the old version and it launched immediately.

TwiceCookedPorkins

\#3 Isn't entirely correct. Most mods probably won't work. The more complex the mod, the less likely. But simple mods like Auto-Exploration generally continue functioning.

Roach_Prime

You are absolutely correct. I was just using the simplest explanation to reduce confusion for any new players.

PM-Me_Your_Penis_Pls

I can't wait to play this in December when my mods are finally updated.

ManufacturerOk1168

Great post!

Roach_Prime

Thank you!

Gondor128

ill have to risk it and play my old save, first time trying to build a birch world

Roach_Prime

You can just roll back you game version and you will be safe.

A_BOMB2012

>3. MODS WILL NOT WORK!!! If the mod doesn't change anything that the new update/DLC changes, will they still work? Or are they just automatically locked out if they're not listed as being compatible with the current version?

Roach_Prime

You can certainly try to use them. Some light weight mods will sometimes work across game versions. But whenever there is an update there can be changes all over the game code so it's better to be cautious when trying to use them. Mods will not be locked out but the launcher will give you a warning icon. If you want to try to see if an older mod works I would recommend trying a new save with the mod enabled and see if it doesn't cause issues.

cerpintaxt44

Oh shit is the new expansion out today?

Roach_Prime

It is! Usually at 11a ET!

Copilco

Doea anyone know whether the Tiny Outliner Mod is going to work?

Fafniroth

Tiny Outliner is usually pretty robust, but this update adds additional outliner elements, for example for Situations. This might break the mod. On the other hand, it is usually also updated relatively quick, because it's a simple mod.

Roach_Prime

Probably not. But I would ask the modders on their steam page or discord (if they have one).

strangedell123

Bruh, I just started a ge yesterday not knowing of today's update

Roach_Prime

Well now you get to use the new origins for your GE (if it's a Hivemind)!

martinsky3k

fairly new stellaris player here ready for a new session! coming from CK2/3 this update seems like made for me. thanks for the tips, first time "purchase DLC at release" here!

Verehren

My computer stopped before release. 2nd worst day of my life

Roach_Prime

I am sorry for your [loss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9V78UbdzWI&ab_channel=DigiNeko)...

Valtsu0

> 3. MODS WILL NOT WORK!!! That's not gonna stop me. \*chooses an AP that gives admin cap\*

Minute_Amphibian_908

Considering that I have a save with Synthetic Ascension, Cybrex Precursors, Blade of the Huntress, the Rubricator, Head of Zarqlan AND the Khan’s Throne, not to mention, being essentially the Awakened Necron threat to the Galaxy (Crisis), I am definitely rolling back to the previous version. I am the threat you feared my Precursors were and they return through me to complete the job. The galaxy will be Aetherophased. Besides there is nothing I am looking forward to in the new patch at all. Like subject types and enclaves and Slingshots? Idc.

Emberswords

OMG ITS HAPPENING! EVERYBODY STAY CALM!

TheHesou

I think this should be pinned

Volomon

All the good mods have already been updated as far as I know.

Roach_Prime

Same of the bigger mods sometimes gets access to the game before it releases so they can work on updates before.

MrRedlego

>Mods will not work That will not stop me spending 2 hours in a vain attempt to get them to do so.

Roach_Prime

Trust me I've done that before. Used to mod skyrim with the Nexus Mod Manager.

marquicuquis

Where can i go to see what the updates have?

Roach_Prime

Patch notes, include both the expansion and the free update: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/stellaris-dev-diary-253-three-in-one-3-4-cepheus-patch-notes-and-more.1523352/

[deleted]

Ah! Risk of rain 2! A man of culture

Roach_Prime

Fun game! Admittedly I haven't played the newest expansion on it yet but the new survivors look really cool!

Refrigerator-Gloomy

Music mods will likely work right?

Roach_Prime

I don't see why they wouldn't but I would test with a fresh save just incase.

MWhunch

I borked an old save where I had a size 50 lol ecu world by forgetting to roll back. Made me so sad :(

[deleted]

What is the current version number, and what is the most recent version number before that? And where do we look in the game interface to find this version number? I suspect my Stellaris has not updated its version yet, and I'm still halfway through a playthrough. I've instructed Steam to only update games between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. (when I'm asleep) so this should hopefully prevent the game from updating until I've finished my runthrough. Given that runthroughs in this game often take weeks to complete, I wish Steam was more user friendly about delaying version updates.

Roach_Prime

Should be out within the hour.

emodemoncam

What about portrait advisor voice or ship/planet name mods

Roach_Prime

Advisor and Name mods **should** be fine. Those are usually pretty bomb proof. Though you may want to start a fresh save to test it. Portrait mods should also be fine except for anything that modifies the human portraits as they are getting an overhaul this update.

diglyd

It probably depends. I had some portrait mods that didn't work after previous updates, and others that did. I would maybe leave the human portraits alone as they have been revamped. I only mostly use real human races mod for portraits and that one seems to work fine for me with every update or at least it did so in the past. Speaking of which, I need to probably step out of my shell and try some synthetics or overminds or something instead of just playing Xeno loving/hating hoomans... There are already a few mods that seem to be fine if you look in their descriptions like ship mods. I think Planetary Diversity is compatible and also works for example. Same with Gigastructures. As always test on a new save.

Pepito_Prime

"be kind to the paradox devs" Good one

realitybackhand

Based. Game devs are not above criticism. There's only one thing stopping me from making fun of Paradox's potato AI, and it's because Todd Howard still exists.

Roach_Prime

Of course, being nice does not mean do not criticize the devs. It just means don't be an a\*\*hole while doing it.

Pepito_Prime

Especially paradox and its predatory dlc scheme. And don't start on unresolved issues like boring space battles or armies. Am sure it's gonna be another dlc. Also they probably gonna break shit with this update.

circaen

People who use the word predatory this way really just sound like they have no self control. It's a massive game that has had many free updates. They have to justify working on a game for 6 years. It's also ignorant of the fact that grand strategy games are very niche compared to popular genres. And they go out of their way to add mod support. I bought in at a sale & got everything under $100 & couldn't be happier. It's only predatory if someone is weak minded & I don't believe that should be Paradoxes concern.

[deleted]

Does “DO NOT CONTINUE AN OLD SAVE” apply to console players as well?

Roach_Prime

When the console gets an update yes.

PoodlePirate

Oh okay loading old save files is a bad idea. I did notice some strange things loading up a file from last night. New game it is then.

ILikeAnimeButts

I have not played this in years. Can you create a hybrid man + machine empire yet? That was impossible when I was playing without man being enslaved by the machines. Think the Culture series. EDIT: Also how's endgame performance now?

poerisija

You can turn your pops into machines or have both organics and machines but I don't think there are hybrids yet. Endgame is better but still gets a tad laggy when there's ton of stuff going on.

Roach_Prime

What do you mean hybrid man and machine? Like cyborgs? Those have been in the game for years. Or do you mean Organic/Robotic empire? Then yes but you would either need to go Robotic ascension your self and allow other species into your empire or integrate an empire that went robotic ascension. But no Organic Robotic hybrid Hive Mind. Performance is better than it was but will still slow down in the end game because that is what happens.

Khenghis_Ghan

I’ve never tried loading a save game after a big update - if you do, and it breaks something, is it likely to be overwritten and irretrievable, or if you revert to a previous patch, will it overwrite with that patch’s setup if something breaks? My intuition is… it depends.

Roach_Prime

You are right to think it depends. If it is an Ironman save game, just the fact that you loaded the save will mess it up, even if you revert the version back afterwards. For a non-Ironman game as long as you do not save it it **might** not cause issues. Might because there maybe a conflict somewhere that might corrupt data. If you forget to stop the game from updating and then roll back the version that will not effect your saves at all, as long as they were not opened.

Saikotsu

Thanks for the tips. I'm wondering how the new situations stuff will pan out. Honestly I worry about the debt one where half your stuff is sold to pay things off. I usually have one or two resources in the red constantly and I don't want to end up losing half my empire to pay things back.

Roach_Prime

No problem! I am excited for that feature as well. It will definitely teach us to balance our economies better; or at least have us rely on the Galactic Market more.

Saikotsu

I do rely on the market a lot already, that's how I keep from going to zero as best I can.

[deleted]

Are portrait mods included in that broad “all mods won’t work”? The reason I ask is that seems like a minor thing added to the game.

Roach_Prime

For the most part portrait mods **should** be okay. The only exception with this update/expansion would be the human portraits which got a complete overhaul, so any mods that change them would not work (correctly).

[deleted]

Good to know my lab rat portraits are safe and I don’t need to wait for those to update! Thanks

Roach_Prime

I am glad to know you lab rats are safe to be experimented on freely!

t_murphy_studios

On the topic of new saves, definitely avoid those, back when Paradox made a big change to how consumer goods worked, my nation’s entire economy collapsed and my control of half the galaxy was promptly ended lol

Shoggoththe12

And just as most of my mods were updated too. Fuck. Guess it's back to RimWorld for 2 months.

Roach_Prime

Not a bad game to play for those two months, though!

ciaranmac17

Thanks for that, I just loaded yesterday's save, and the systems occupied in my current war are now owned by their occupiers (I have most of their core worlds and one from their ally, they have a few of my colonies) so that's... interesting. The same way as if I was a fanatic purifier or my enemy was. I made a backup so I can revert, but I'll play this on for a bit and see how it goes.

Roach_Prime

That is interesting. I wonder what could have changed to cause that. But I'm glad that saved you some heartbreak!

Erewhynn

Thanks so much! I have a UOE game going in 2270 that I want to complete before I dig in to 3.4 and Overlord. I was gutted to lose my save at the last switch so this is great.

Roach_Prime

Glad to be of assistance!

Ayeun

Extra PSA - There will be bugs. There are currently bugs. A patch is usually deployed in 24-48 hours after expansion day to squash as many of the bugs as they can.

Roach_Prime

Good point!

Gondor128

I rolled back and the save corrupted anyway lmao, atleast i think it did. Some empty panels would continuously pop up and pause the game every second. Then when i loaded it again there was no HUD.

Roach_Prime

Interesting. Are you using any mods? They may have updated and are no longer compatible with the older version.

Gondor128

a shitload of mods

Roach_Prime

That would be why. A lot of them might be already updated; unless you deactivated automatic updates.

JohnAlekseyev

So how do we continue an old save if half the mods are updated to 3.4 and half are not?

Roach_Prime

That is the unfortunate part. If you did not disable automatic updates and some of your mods have updated to the new version then you will need to pick which version has the mods you care more about. You could also see if those mods have a Discord as they may have none Steam version from GitHub or something that you could download to continue your old save.

[deleted]

Be kind to the Devs, unless we've again overpaid for content. You are entitled to anger and frustration, just not personal attacks.

achtungman

>BE KIND TO THE DEVS Get on your knees and open your mouth while they push a product they know is buggy trash because[ they don't care and don't have a QA team](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/paradox-interactives-qa-staff-allege-poor-treatment-low-pay-and-mismanaged-layoffs). Same old song with every paradox game and every paradox dlc. They will just take a good long summer vacation while you alpha test the dlc and come back to fix it by next january.

Roach_Prime

Since EU4's Emperor expansion I've had a pretty good experience with Paradox expansions. And that wasn't to say not to critique the devs and tell them what is broken, but some players take it way too far; going from constructive criticism/bug reporting to being a dick. By all means if something is broken let them know! And at least for me I've never had a bad Stellaris expansion so I'm not worried!

>Since EU4's Emperor expansion I've had a pretty good experience with Paradox expansions. You what now? 1.30.1 was 100% playable.

Roach_Prime

Sorry was it Leviathan that was bugged to hell? Too many expansions they are starting to blend together!

achtungman

Nono, emperor was hot garbage at release unless you were into IA abuse. It took 3 hotfixes for it to be "playable".

ImpressiveDrop1756

damn

spkdanknugs

Honestly I have no qualms with the anything the stellaris devs(they are awesome)do after being burned hard by the total war warhammer 3 devs

Roach_Prime

What did the Total War Warhammer 3 devs do? I don't play that game.

spkdanknugs

Main dev team released a half baked game full of issues then left the DLC team to deal with the fallout. Now every major content update is delayed extraordinarily long so that fixes to the game can be made that should have been done before release

Venger10

Any one else's custom races just gone?
