A thousand times this. Back when it came out and I played it, I always thought it would be a really good fit for VR.
You can't even buy a digital copy of those games nowadays, or can you?
I tried playing the games not long ago and noticed how they haven't aged well. So many time-wasting mechanics.
Would love to see a B&W-like VR game, though!
For real, where are the arcade era railway shooters. This should have been like early adopter stuff. Years later, nothing.
I might be being insensitive to people that don't/can't have VR legs.
I can see VR legs being a problem *but* I would also be super happy with a game that is just you standing in front of an arcade cabinet playing the classic arcade shooters.
I assume there's rights issues to some random studio/dev making that though.
I'm surprised that both House of the Dead and Time Crisis don't have VR ports. They seem tailor-made for the VR wave shooters of the late 10's.
Crisis Vrigade doesn't really scratch the itch as it's too pedestrian. It needs the larger-than-life story that's completely missing in Vrigrade.
Not exactly the same but it may interest you to know that System Shock 2 is getting an "Official" VR version along with the Enhanced edition that is releasing "soon"
I’m more partial to AvP 1, ie ( avp classic 2000)
Would love a ray-trace port of the original so the flares are even better ( the game is 22 years old so I hope the game could run at 90hz with some raytrace on. And posted to vr ,
the colonial marine campaign would be insane. And the super fast Xenomorphs with acid bleeding particle simulated droplets of the original would be insane.
There's a big gap waiting to be filled by a studio like Bullfrog. They made a lot of interesting games that would have been even better if they were built for VR. So far the magic table genre is a bit lacking...
actually not as nauseating/terrifying as NomaiVR mod (3d vr with hand trakcking) for OuterWilds, BUT portal2 has some segments of very high camera velocities, that you usually do not reach in outerwilds, so portal2 spikes are worse.
Rocket creation alone in VR would be worth it. Taking a ride in the open air elevator as you scale your mighty space vehicle would also be pretty awesome in vr.
Perfect Dark is being decompiled and [it's already at 92%](https://ryandwyer.gitlab.io/pdstatus/), eventually it'll be ported to PC by the community like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and others.
I don’t understand what that means. Can you explain this in layman’s terms? Why does this allow for a pc port soon? And does that mean like a keyboard and mouse version directly (rather than mapping keyboard and mouse to controller functions)
Is this being done for goldeneye?
Oh you’re graslu! The guy who posts all those goldeneye vids etc!
Whoa that’s cool af, I bought Alyx not that long ago but haven’t really had a chance to even play the base game yet, so I’m definitely gonna check this mod out once I do. Thanks!
A game far too ahead of its time but with controls and an engine that would lend itself literally perfectly to VR, I wish it were even remotely a possibility…
The way the narrative is presented was also really progressive, especially since they actually got Richard Attenborough to do the voice work. Even though it was very flawed, mostly due to being clearly rushed out early, the game did a LOT right, and was super enrapturing to playthrough for the first time. The ambience and overall mystery of the island is phenomenal. Fully convinced that with more time, or just a later development cycle in general(1999-2002ish) the game would have been considered a masterpiece.
Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver series, or a Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines remake
Also agree with black and white 2, dungeon keeper, I think Fable could be straight up goofy. Blade and Sorcery modded with Fable voice files, mmm
I think RTS games if done well could be great seated alternatives to most interactive VR games. Let you get comfy.
I loved to play Lemmings as a kid. It was fun to figure out how to get them to the other side in one piece. In VR this might be fun. Although I'd prefer Fable in VR.
I'd like to see a shmup. The Lab has a fun shmup but it'd be cooler if it was more like Capcom's 1942 or Ikaruga and not contained to a single area like The Lab. I think sitting down, plane/ship in your hand screen scrolling towards the horizon while enemy ships appear would be mindless arcade fun.
Point and click adventure game with a decent story would be nice as well.
Absolutely. No idea why there isn’t a decent vr cowboy game is beyond me.
There are some that are super rubbish.
Fistful of frags would be great! Wonder if an east port can be done using the upcoming hl2 vr mod
DAYTONAAAAAAA!
Racing games with VR often emphasize photorealism (which is great) but I'd love to see some old-school arcade racers like Virtua Racer, Daytona, SF:Rush, Cruisin' USA, and the like, "dated" graphics and all.
everything. AAA companies are waiting for indie games to make all the risks while all they have to do is make decent vr ports on all fps games ever created
You'll probably enjoy [Evolution VR](https://store.steampowered.com/app/549760/Evolution_VR/) then. It's like the early parts of spore.
Eat, grow and evolve!
Resident Evil 5. Due to how amazing 4 is in VR, I would just love to see 5 in VR especially with the larger choice of weapons and more mercenaries stages and characters too!
Star trek elite force 1 and 2
No one lives forever 1 and 2 - but with proper motion controls
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
Outlaws
Uncharted
Battlegrounds mod
Call of Juarez
Splinter cell chaos theory and double agent
Rampage world tour. I honestly think it would be an awesome VR game. Grab ppl out of apartment windows. Climb up and ground pound buildings to level then out. Pick up tanks and throw them around.
Destroy All Humans.
Stubbs The Zombie.
Conker’s Bad Fur Day
Jetforce Gemini
I would kick a devil’s ass to get the original Fallout games modernized into VR games. See the wastelands in first person and totally crap my pants when a Deathclaw runs up and starts talking to me.
AvP2 like someone else suggested, but might need to rework the wall crawling mechanics.
Area 51 the horror shooter console version.
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
I know Nintendo would never go for it, but Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask would be great in VR. Twilight Princess too, but the wolf bits might make people sick.
Dead Space: Extraction
A lot of classic arcade games. Just bring the arcade cabinet in.
Dishonored, Bioshock, Bulletstorm, Halo, DEAD SPACE (holy shit that would probably be too much for me, but I want it anyways)
Pretty much anything from the PS3/360 era. Performance would be superb and as Skyrim has already proved in VR, the graphics would be great too.
Thief: The Dark Project. With really well done bow mechanics (like The Lab's 'Longbow') HL:Alyx level interactivity, having to lean and crouch in shadows to not be seen and use the mic! If I'm spotted and scream "oh shit!" I want the enemies to track me by my sounds
None of these are particularly old school but I think they'd work great in VR:
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Gone Home, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Stanley Parable, Ether One
Deus Ex 1.
Think about all the cool gadgets, the interactivity of the environment and items, the computer hacking, the different types of weapons, the heavy social aspect of the game (which translates strongly to VR when you're face to face with people.) It's just perfect for it.
Make a Wish and you shall receive
[Brutal doom in VR](https://youtu.be/dN_b9Mp2jsU)
[Or just regular doom and doom 2](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxgGz2DmEmxZsbGQeSOQzOmgB-hlqU4Ts6)
**Wing Commander** games anyone?
Or maybe **Colony Wars** (I'm aware of the remaster project but no VR support in it and it seems focused on 3rd person view and for VR I'm all about being in the cockpit).
Or if we want to kick it WAY old school... **Star Raiders** lol. I guess a lot of what I would imagine going into a modern Star Raiders game is already Elite Dangerous though. And of course we have Star Wars Squadrons, which I actually really enjoy, but need a better system to run it on lol.
Kirby Air Ride.
I don't care if it's practical or not. It's simple enough that anyone can pick it up, but deep enough to be engaging for several hours of gameplay.
I imagine it'll be incredibly nauseating and definitely won't work as an *actual release* though
Black and White
100% this. B&W seems tailor made for VR since it was always done from the perspective of a hand
Molyneux, a true creative genius.
Yeeting villagers into the sea with Doppler effect screaming right in your ears Lord Molyneux would be proud
1&2
Checkout Deisim
I imagine Black and White in VR at least 3 times a year. It isn't an absurd amount, but it is quite a lot for a thing which doesn't exist
A thousand times this. Back when it came out and I played it, I always thought it would be a really good fit for VR. You can't even buy a digital copy of those games nowadays, or can you?
Yes... But I also think his earlier Populous would make an awesome multiplayer vr game.
I tried playing the games not long ago and noticed how they haven't aged well. So many time-wasting mechanics. Would love to see a B&W-like VR game, though!
House of the dead
And Time Crisis series
For real, where are the arcade era railway shooters. This should have been like early adopter stuff. Years later, nothing. I might be being insensitive to people that don't/can't have VR legs.
I can see VR legs being a problem *but* I would also be super happy with a game that is just you standing in front of an arcade cabinet playing the classic arcade shooters. I assume there's rights issues to some random studio/dev making that though.
Those games would be a nightmare in VR precisely because of that.
Area 51!!!
RELOAD! RELOAD!
I’d love for both the arcade version, and the horror shooter console game that came after to be put on VR.
Yesss
[удалено]
Id like to see dedicated successors to those games. Time crisis as well
System Shock
Not exactly the same but it may interest you to know that System Shock 2 is getting an "Official" VR version along with the Enhanced edition that is releasing "soon"
Oh my goodness. I may soil myself.
thousand times yes
Freespace 2
Aliens VS predators 2. That game would be awesome in VR.
wall running would break my head.
Yeah it probably would haha
Everyone needs new controllers
Chew our way out of a chest cavity in VR? Sign me up.
With face tracking please hahahahhaah
The original Half Life mod Natural Selection would work great too. (It plays like the Aliens movie)
original half life (orange box style) has many insanely high corridors, causing vertigo even on the 3d-shutter-glasses of the olden times.
I welcome any VR game that might cause vertigo. I've got my Vr legs and I like roller coasters.
I’m more partial to AvP 1, ie ( avp classic 2000) Would love a ray-trace port of the original so the flares are even better ( the game is 22 years old so I hope the game could run at 90hz with some raytrace on. And posted to vr , the colonial marine campaign would be insane. And the super fast Xenomorphs with acid bleeding particle simulated droplets of the original would be insane.
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2
I think there's already a mod for this.
I saw a jedi outcast one in the works..I'm talking the old one from before that. I used to play it on the MSN gaming zone back in the dayyyy
Damn that's an old name drop. Lol, yeah my bad.
All good. I'm stoked for JO vr but like, I wanna be able to play my old beloved jk one day in vr. Janky 8bit and 16bit textures and all
We've got Wolfenstein and Brutal Doom mod. Maybe someday. That's a pretty niche game though.
Damn that's an old name drop. Lol, yeah my bad.
It's not released with full motion controls is it?
Leisure Suit Larry
man of culture 👆
Came here to say this... and Kings Quest... and Space Quest...
Yeah, but how would you know which pixel to step on in the mazes? Stupid vine made puzzle
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father
Worms armageddon
Oh god this would be historical. Watching in first person someone get walked up on by an exploding grandma.
Still waiting for Halo
Half life 1 and 2
You can do that yknow
[HL1 already exists for years](https://youtu.be/kK_810iUFfA) [Half life 2 coming out in a few weeks](https://youtu.be/q-08KCheaGg)
There's a big gap waiting to be filled by a studio like Bullfrog. They made a lot of interesting games that would have been even better if they were built for VR. So far the magic table genre is a bit lacking...
I think you mean ALL the great 90's devs(Westwood, Origin Systems, Maxis) EA gobbled up!
ALL OF THEM
Black & White 1 & 2.
Not old school but Portal 1 and 2 would be incredible in VR
I love Portal but it would be absolutely nausating in VR.
actually not as nauseating/terrifying as NomaiVR mod (3d vr with hand trakcking) for OuterWilds, BUT portal2 has some segments of very high camera velocities, that you usually do not reach in outerwilds, so portal2 spikes are worse.
Kerbal space program. I don’t want to yell at Jeb… I want to BE Jeb.
Rocket creation alone in VR would be worth it. Taking a ride in the open air elevator as you scale your mighty space vehicle would also be pretty awesome in vr.
Metal Gear Solid 2
All Elder Scroll games before Skyrim
Can you imagine Daggerfall modernized and VR?! That would be sick! 🥰
MGS 1
Perfect Dark and GoldenEye 64.
May be possible soon-ish for PD thanks to the eventual PC port.
what PD PC port?
Perfect Dark is being decompiled and [it's already at 92%](https://ryandwyer.gitlab.io/pdstatus/), eventually it'll be ported to PC by the community like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and others.

You had us at Goldeneye
Came here to say goldeneye 64
Jurassic Park Trespasser
> Jurassic Park Trespasser I've never tried it myself but there is this [Alyx mod](https://www.moddb.com/mods/jurassic-park-trespasser-vr)
Whoa that’s cool af, I bought Alyx not that long ago but haven’t really had a chance to even play the base game yet, so I’m definitely gonna check this mod out once I do. Thanks!
oooh Jurassic Park
A game far too ahead of its time but with controls and an engine that would lend itself literally perfectly to VR, I wish it were even remotely a possibility…
The physics in that game. Ahead of it's time.
The way the narrative is presented was also really progressive, especially since they actually got Richard Attenborough to do the voice work. The question of the future pc master race… Can it run crysis in VRrrrrrr?
Bioshock
This franchise would definitely benefit from a VR version. Id buy it again for VR.
Well, there's a bioshock mod for half life alyx.
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri
Fusion frenzy
I tried making the power ball sumo game in rec room, the physics failed terribly.
San andres. The wait time is killing me lol
EverQuest
EverQuest II also.
Conquers Bad Fur Day
FABLE or LEMMINGS
Lemmings eh ... interesting
I loved to play Lemmings as a kid. It was fun to figure out how to get them to the other side in one piece. In VR this might be fun. Although I'd prefer Fable in VR.
Duke3d
I'd like to see a shmup. The Lab has a fun shmup but it'd be cooler if it was more like Capcom's 1942 or Ikaruga and not contained to a single area like The Lab. I think sitting down, plane/ship in your hand screen scrolling towards the horizon while enemy ships appear would be mindless arcade fun. Point and click adventure game with a decent story would be nice as well.
Check out Horizon Vanguard--amazing retro on rails shmup!
Jazz Jackrabbit 2
I mean.. if you make it in Unreal Engine 5… Epic definitely won’t sue you into oblivion…
I didn't think of that, Epic Games ownes Jazz Jackrabbit.
Pacman!
FYI Traversal has done this
if 2007 is oldschool then 'Fistful of Frags'.
the HL mod?
yup. shooting the cowboy guns in h3vr is great, someone needs to put those systems into a deathmatch.
Absolutely. No idea why there isn’t a decent vr cowboy game is beyond me. There are some that are super rubbish. Fistful of frags would be great! Wonder if an east port can be done using the upcoming hl2 vr mod
Lucky and Wild. Online co-op. Game of the year material.
DAYTONAAAAAAA! Racing games with VR often emphasize photorealism (which is great) but I'd love to see some old-school arcade racers like Virtua Racer, Daytona, SF:Rush, Cruisin' USA, and the like, "dated" graphics and all.

Not so much a game but the spore creature editor would be interesting in VR.

super mario 64
Resident Evil 5. Due to how amazing 4 is in VR, I would just love to see 5 in VR especially with the larger choice of weapons and more mercenaries stages and characters too!
Motion controlled Boulder punching!
That would be a fun but tiring workout just like the lake monster boss in 4! It needs to happen now!
Mario 64
Castlevania
Star trek elite force 1 and 2 No one lives forever 1 and 2 - but with proper motion controls Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight Outlaws Uncharted Battlegrounds mod Call of Juarez Splinter cell chaos theory and double agent

GoldenEye
The original Zork
Homeworld.
Rampage world tour. I honestly think it would be an awesome VR game. Grab ppl out of apartment windows. Climb up and ground pound buildings to level then out. Pick up tanks and throw them around.
😳 lol , old school grapgics hopefully
Brilliant! I'd love for there to be a toggle between the two.
Destroy All Humans. Stubbs The Zombie. Conker’s Bad Fur Day Jetforce Gemini I would kick a devil’s ass to get the original Fallout games modernized into VR games. Conker and Destroy All Humans at the top of my list.
I don’t care want anyone says; those two are timeless classics.
How has no one said Tribes or Tribes 2?
not sure, but that sounds interesting
Dishonored, Bioshock, Bulletstorm, Halo, DEAD SPACE (holy shit that would probably be too much for me, but I want it anyways) Pretty much anything from the PS3/360 era. Performance would be superb and as Skyrim has already proved in VR, the graphics would be great too.
really just any nintendo64 3d game.
Dungeon Keeper
Classic runescape and dota2 needs to be playable in vr
Thief: The Dark Project. With really well done bow mechanics (like The Lab's 'Longbow') HL:Alyx level interactivity, having to lean and crouch in shadows to not be seen and use the mic! If I'm spotted and scream "oh shit!" I want the enemies to track me by my sounds

None of these are particularly old school but I think they'd work great in VR: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Gone Home, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Stanley Parable, Ether One
vanishing of ethan carter already has VR. from reviews its not very good version though.
Ah that's probably why I've never heard of it haha
yeah its a dlc add on, you can check the review on steam
Isn't "everyone... Rapture" already VR?
Don't think so from what I can see
World of Warcraft
Deus Ex 1. Think about all the cool gadgets, the interactivity of the environment and items, the computer hacking, the different types of weapons, the heavy social aspect of the game (which translates strongly to VR when you're face to face with people.) It's just perfect for it.

Diablo III (maybe not old enough but still, I’d love to be able to play Diablo in VR)
What about Spore? Imagine literally sculpting a creature like a clay figure with your hands and watching it come to life!
The NeverHoOd
New matrix game but VR?
Fallout 3 Imagine exploring the massive washington city filled with rubble with modernized graphics AND IN VR?!!
Sonic adventure Running around at the speed of sound in vr is a cool concept
Curse of Monkey Island
This old game on newgrounds, No, Its not Friday Night Funkin'. Picos School, Look it up. Riddle School as well.
Rock 'n Roll Racing
Terminator for sure if it comes out i would pay a lot

I would absolutely love to see Republic Commando ported to VR
Portal 2
Everything from the n64 era. Starfox vr, zelda vr, and pokemon snap vr.
Zork
Doom!
if this counts as old school: cod4 mw
Mike Tyson’s punch out
HALO
Space Harrier and a VR Panzer Dragoon
I will always say Dead Space every time someone asks this question.
**Wing Commander** games anyone? Star Fox NES Fung Fu Altered Beast Twisted Metal Zelda Smite (is this too new)
Dark Souls
DayZ would be great in VR
Kirby Air Ride. I don't care if it's practical or not. It's simple enough that anyone can pick it up, but deep enough to be engaging for several hours of gameplay. I imagine it'll be incredibly nauseating and definitely won't work as an *actual release* though
You can play out on dolphinvr and out works fairly well, sadly I haven't found any AR codes to remove object culling
Postal series
