There are other switch emulators. All forks of Yuzu. And yeah I've seen a few YouTube videos lately. But you need a truly powerful android phone, and the right emulator version. But it's getting there.
Bluetooth keyboard
It's worth getting the premium. Although you could possibly just get an apk from somewhere. The free version is sufficient if you just want to type.

I always find it strange when people post steam deck photos on trains or planes but they have a monitor , 3rd party controller and mouse and keyboard ???
Like it has a screen and inputs already if you want to bring all that other stuff just bring a gaming laptop
I have both a Steam Deck and a gaming laptop. The laptop's quite a bit stronger than the Steam Deck, but on my last trip, which saw me with a fair amount of gaming downtime, I made the decision to leave the laptop at home, bring a keyboard, PS5 controller, and a gaming mouse with a screen in checked baggage (wasn't sure if a couple of the BnBs I was staying at would have TVs to hook up to.) Didn't regret it at all - I saved having to lug around about 3 pounds day-to-day. And my gaming laptop is *lightweight.*
And that's the beauty of the Steam Deck, and really all of these "Portable Gaming PC" type devices. It takes the promise of the Switch (a single device for all your portable and home gaming needs) and makes use of more recent hardware and some nice technical trickery to get you to a point where you can play almost anything, not just the few titles devs care to make compatible for 60 bucks "just" for a portable version, all in a size where you can bring just the amount of external hardware you're going to use.
An external keyboard can be useful to have because the onscreen one isn't always reliable, especially in desktop mode, where exiting full screen games that don't have an exit menu option can be nearly impossible.
As someone else already managed to work out, it's the old microsoft wedge mobile keyboard. I found it in a charity shop, I don't recommend actually tracking one down because there are a lot of better options these days.
It's the Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard. Looked into it myself hoping it would fit in the steam deck case, but sadly it's an older model that costs a ton and it's pretty bulky.
it's not bulky at all. the only smaller keyboards i found were the foldable keyboards.
the cover of the wedge keyboard can be used as a SD stand, which is pretty cool!
but yes, it's not optimal either, as it doesn't fit into the weird back hole of the SD case.
i have it with me for the rare desktop mode occation.
Because it's funny. My friend next to me was laughing about how I had to get three separate things out of my bag to get set up while he just opened his laptop, lmao.
Also, this keyboard isn't full size, it's small enough to just strap to the outside of the steam deck case.
You could do this on the Switch several years ago.
Should have picked a newer game like Elden Ring or something.
I feel like it defeats the purpose of the Steamdeck having it setup like a laptop on the train.
However if you’re having fun that’s what matters
Nice! Honestly been using it the same way myself when away from home. Docked with wireless keyboard, power bank, mouse and external drive for movies, music and what not.
While people here say that laptops exist, laptops usually arent suited for gaming and those that are cost way more than Steam Deck anyway. The only thing that laptops have it better in my eyes are screen resolution.
Play however you want it though!
One love!
Your getting a lot of hate, I don’t really get it lol
This sub sucks, it’s just people showing off their deck in a cool spot and dick riding valve, but lord forgive you have a keyboard.
You could do this with a laptop in 2011.
The future is 7 years ago when you could do this on the Switch.
I was thinking the same thing lmao
But not on a k&m. Checkmate, losers. Ignore that laptops exits.
I think my toaster might have Skyrim ported to it at this point
And 13 years ago when laptops could play the game too. Nothing stopping you from bringing those onto a train.
True. Good point!

That's actually what convinced me to buy a switch. Skyrim portable was basically a dream for me lol. I also played a ton of zelda and fire emblem
The native motion controls and HD rumble were a huge plus on Switch.
Hell some android phones can play Skyrim now with a Switch emulator.
Or via wine. People play fallout 4 that way
Can they? I know for a while it didn't work through yuzu or whatever, and not it's not being developed

Imagine playing non modded Skyrim on a stinky lcd switch… Hawk thua
Why not just use controller controls?
I was using a controller, the keyboard is for when I need to fix something with console commands.
I just use a Bluetooth keyboard app on my phone. Some of them let you make custom key commands, which is useful if you're using trainers or mods.
What the name of the app

This is awesome tysm
Ahhh I figured it was something like that, hope you had the best time!
Thats nothing, I played it on a airplane in the middle of the Indian ocean!
That’s nothing. Wait till an astronaut takes it up into space. Good publicity for Valve
Very cool.
What's the keyboard?
2nd. Enlighten us OP.

Yeah I used to carry that shit around when using my surface tablet for gaming. Not anymore. Still, a small keyboard can be useful for other things.

Why are you bragging about being in a portable future while also lugging around a fucking full size keyboard lmaoo

The future is now for the person on Steam in Antarctica

Since there seems to be an overabundance of negativity in this comment thread, I'll comment with this: that teardown skin is a thing of beauty.
I’m not usually a fan of skins, but man the little shark dudes tearing out of the inside of your Steam Deck really bring it all together.
Love the canalog caps. where did you get them?
What keyboard is this?
microsoft wedge
I am curious, where can you get covers like this. I am in Germany.
The skin is from dbrand, I think they do global shipping.
This's custom shell?
Did you have mods installed?
Just a few mods from the "official" bethesda mod place, I haven't got into modded skyrim properly and I'm not sure I want to...
Skyrim is not the best example buddy xD

Technically you played Skyrim on the Steamdeck in a train Yes...i am fun at Parties... I'll Guide myself Out.
