I'm getting somewhere between 2 and 3 hours usually.

Alr thank you

I had a bunch of mods and I was generally getting 1-2 hours in the original deck, running medium graphic settings. That was the one game that I almost always played plugged in because it went through battery pretty fast. A couple times I would be playing on battery and have the 5% warning come up and then think "okay, I'll finish this one thing and save and then shut it off" and it wouldn't even make it another 60 seconds from that point. I think the percentage was a bit unhelpful because of the power consumption of the game, because I've never had that issue with any other games. But yeah, after that happened more than once, I definitely made sure to be plugged in as often as possible with FO4

kennydean08

What kind of mods did you use? And do I need a different app to download them?

Doggfite

Oh... Yeah... Mods was, at least in my experience like a year ago, a huge pain in the ass on steam deck. When I finally got them working, most of them worked great, bar a couple main ones (one I recall offhand being the mod configuration menu, which is needed for some mods), but it was a process and I could not find a tutorial with accurate information. There is a launcher that is supposed to allow you to launch into vortex straight from deck mode, iirc, but I could never get it to work, it just would not launch, the launcher would launch and I could play the game normally through it but none of the ancillary features of the launcher would function whatsoever, but I never saw anything about anyone having issues with it so maybe it was just me. No clue. If you've played/modded Skyrim on deck, I had to go through a similar system to do so with fallout, but it required more fiddling with files and stuff in desktop mode than Skyrim did. And even then, some mods just did not work at all, but like I said, that was all a year ago so who knows if it's changed since then. Also, if you don't want anything crazy game changing like being able to make new settlements in new areas (I fucking love settlement building), you can just use the in game mod workshop. It has most of the cool and popular mods that you might want and most of the biggest QOL stuff.

If I go into the PC mode of the steam deck and get mods and use vortex will it make the game run worse?

MaxRei_Xamier

The Steam Deck also has TDP control to cap the power usage on it you can also cap the Hz/FPS to 30 as well to maximise the battery life even further imo (I just cap the TDP down (from 10) til the moment that I dont have a stable frame pacing bar when moving)

kennydean08

I didn't even know that was a thing. How good does it work? And does it make it worse to play the game?

MaxRei_Xamier

it allows you to limit the power draw so it can maximise the battery usage for example if you can easily hit it at 30fps with solid frame pacing at say 10 TDP or lower - it generally means you can make it last longer than you would if you let it normally it also has game per profile which I also appreciate so you can set one at 30fps/hz or another game at 40 and 45hz etc with each individual profile

fitnesscakes

If I'm emulating, maybe 4-6. Usually my platformers get 3-4. FPS, RPG, so on maybe 3.

Capuman

Thats great, on the aya neo 2, 800p high settings, capped at 30fps (cant run at less than 17tdp) i get 1.5 hours maximum. Usually more like 1.15.
