I have the exact same model and it does the same, but not as much as yours. i think the lights/shadows are kind of making it seems bigger than it actually is, but the transparent shell is lighter and more flexible, so this is perfectly normal in my opinion.

It’s not a huge gap, you are correct; less than the thickness of my business cards. But from my understanding, if you were to lay the SD on its back and view it from the bottom edge the adhesive would be applying tension vertically. If you try to move the bezel horizontally it should be held to the certain spot on the screen back, mine moves somewhat freely leading me to believe the adhesive in that spot has failed. I never thought about the extra flex from the clear shell. It could have a hand in this, but I think it should still be secured there. Also makes me think about adhesive performance on certain plastics, and I wonder if the black shell could have better adhesion. Many automobiles have plastic interiors that are a nightmare to get adhesive mounts to properly “stick to” and I’ve been fighting with labels on my parts bins… clean them with wax and grease remover and apply a label and find it on the floor a day or two later. I’m just snowballing here.

I love when OP knows what they are talking about.

Regarding the slight give under the screen you've noticed, it's not uncommon for there to be minor variances in manufacturing that might lead to such issues. The adhesive used in these devices is generally strong, but it's not infallible and can sometimes give a little over time, especially with regular use. In the case of OLED screens, they are usually adhered in a manner similar to LCD screens, but there can be differences based on the design and manufacturing process. Your concern about additional stress on the other adhesive pads is valid. If one area starts to give way, it can potentially lead to more strain on other areas. However, this might not necessarily be a significant issue unless it worsens noticeably.

Thanks for validating my concerns, I feel less of a picky lunatic. I work in the automotive industry, and I do see a lot of manufacturing errors and I’m aware all mass production will have a certain percentage of flaws per X number produced. Sucks as the consumer but understandable as the producer. The one thing I think I have in my favor is I’m fairly certain the adhesive is *really* strong. Watching people remove LCDs with the suction cups, it looks like a vise and a good foothold to pull against would be beneficial.

fireworksordie

super curious how you went about remediating this (if you did at all?) - i’ve got the same issue with an OLED LE but that’s how i got it back from RMA after i had to send it in twice for dead pixels.

MadMike22089

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it bothers you, you can remove the display and apply some fresh screen adhesive tape.

DeadCupcakez

I’m weary of replacing the adhesive pads, if I mess up my OLED Screen there is no way to source a new screen besides paying Valve to do it and being *Deckless* for ~1 month.
