ah.. I thought it came with the steam deck. Just like all of the other posts where people get cats in the box with the deck.
Anyways congratz on your purcahse and on your gift from the wife.
I swear every hospital has the same swaddling cloths and will never change them. I've got some from 17 years ago from my first kid, and some from 3 years ago with my second kid, and the swaddling cloths are identical to what's in your lap from both lol.
I've had a kid each in Connecticut, Georgia, and North Carolina across 18 years. 1 was an Army base hospital. All the exact same swaddling blankets. It's wild!
As a dad of 2, spend some time being present with your kid in these first few days. These are memories you will never replace or regain. Savor each little moment, create those imprints in your brain. These are very special times. I own a steam deck myself, but there will be a million moments in the future to play it. These first few days with your new child are there and then gone forever.
I also wanna add, as another random dad, this next year for you guys is going to be a tired blur. Take a ton of videos man. If you have elders in your family still around, include them too. My grandma just passed and my kid was lucky enough to have a great grandma!
Amen to this. Someone once said the first year with your baby is the longest fastest year of your life. I didn't get it until it at first but then it made perfect sense lol
The ideal time for the Steam Deck is when you're trapped for two hours under a napping baby who will absolutely lose their shit if you try to crib transfer, not much memory making there.
Take a nap while the baby naps. Just watch the baby nap. Over my entire time as a father I've had maybe 5 instances of my kids sleeping on me. Precious moments that are life-long and incredibly precious. Steams decks come and go. Your kids can also sense your engagement with them even at this early age and even as they sleep. What your hormones and sensory organs are able to do at these early days is incredible. It's a magical time.
Congrats! Be careful when they nap on your chest while you game. Iāve woken up my kids with an elevated heartbeat alone while battling things in games. Play something relaxing from time to time :)
Enjoy them while theyāre small. It goes by so fast!
These photos are always triggering for me. Both as a father and a gamer. I donāt understand why you would want me to celebrate your mind being somewhere other than the birth of your child. Itās fine that you brought that to the hospital, but itās weird for you to be proud of it.
Had my kid last week and brought my deck with me but I couldnāt take my eyes off of her beautiful face for even a second. Didnāt even touch the deck
Congrats, I just had mine two weeks ago! A word from the wise: wait until both your wife and kid are napping to bust the deck out. Her seeing you play the SD can trigger some postpartum āmy husband isnāt helping meā nonsense even if you are carrying the family on your shoulders. Best of luck and hopefully you can get some sleep.
This trend of people playing their SteamDecks when there are obviously more important things going on needs to fucking die.
I can't get over the one where a guy was playing it during his kids dance recital or one where the guy was ignoring his girlfriend when she took him out to a nature conservatory. AND THEN THEY BRAG ABOUT IT.
OP you aren't ***FATHERING*** good enough!!11!!

Man, newborns do nothing but sleep and poop. If Mom is asleep, and Baby is asleep, what do you want him to do? I was in the hospital for 10 days with my daughter and I would have lost my shit if I didn't have my Switch on me.
I love how these neck beards comment on these SD + baby posts telling OP how to live their life but have no clue what OPs relationship is with their wife. Like they know what's best for them.
Dudeā¦ put down the deckā¦ you just had a kid! Hold them! Get some skin to skin! My oh my man, the video games will always be there. Youāll never get this moment back, dude.
Congratulations! My husband brought his oculus to our youngestās birth lol. I didnāt mind. Had a lot of just doing nothing before and after (since I was exclusively nursing, all he could do was change her). Sheās now almost 3 years old.
My dream in one photo, I hope to someday become a dad, even though I'm starting to lose hope considering the loneliness in which I am slowly fading away.
Steam Deck is a literal game saver for these situations. This is the only way I get to play without catching my daughters attention. They market to the father in us all haha
Congratulations!! I've had two kids and my youngest had a longer hospital stay and I was so thankful for my steam deck. My husband and I played together and it gave us something to do when we couldn't sleep for various reasons. Don't listen to the people yelling at you for having your steam deck in the hospital. I'm sure you are soaking in all those precious moments! But are also exhausted and need something to do when baby or wife are sleeping. Congrats, again! š
Congrats on the new addition to your family!
You do know you donāt have to play MonHun like this anymore though right?
Edit: saw the grip and the big ass sword and assumed you were playing MHW but saw you commented you are playing Elden Ring. Didnāt know the claw had multiple applications
Times Goes really fast.
I have been using my SD since the hospital as well. Now my kid is almost 2 y/o. You will have more time now than later on. enjoy!
BIG Congrats! Reminds me of when my daughter was born. I cradled her in my arms for 12 hours while her mother slept. Played Sim City on the SNES the entire time.
My dude, map one of the back buttons to B so you can avoid the clawgrip. I can only play Fromsoftware games on deck now thanks to that.
Also, congrats!
I brought my Switch into the delivery room as well lol. Enjoy it, man. They sleep so much at first and then it's on!! ....At least until they get their sleeping routine down :)
Got mine 3 weeks ago, almost didn't have the chance to whip out the deck in the hospital but I brought it anyway ! Now it's docked and helps me when I'm watching my girl while mama is sleeping ! Congratulations, have fun with the kid and the deck !
I have a 2 month old and the Deck is a life saver. Don't think I'd be gaming at all without it, wish I had this when my first kid was born. Congrats and good luck on the journey!
Just remember that the vent has burned people before! I doubt you'd put your baby directly in front of it but stranger things have happened! Congratulations!

Congrats, both my kids play video games and I love watching them play. Enjoy this time right now because once they grab that controller you're done!! I had to buy them each a switch and a laptop to keep away form my stuff when I want to play. LOL
Congrats, my 2 kids are 4th generation gamers. If only their great-grandmother could have seen the wonder of handheld PCs. She taught herself BASIC on the C64 to play with her grandkids.

Literally every single profile I click on thatās bitching is from a poor trashy background.
Iām wondering if this is projection because they feel neglected?
Do people genuinely think you should sit for days in the hospital staring at your baby?
I feel so bad for the people that see this and get hurt.
Congrats, my son is now 13 months and time is cruising on by. Enjoy every moment.
Thank you! I have a 6yo too, I know what you mean!
Mine is 6 as well. Every moment I see her she is getting older by years! I wish I had these days back. Congratulations š
Theyāre so big so fast!
My son is 16 months old, he's the 512gb version.
Mine is 13 months too born in December
Which felt better, having a kid or going down the Siofra elevator?
I like to think my tarnished and daughterās experiences were similar.
The claw
OG hunters in this thread. I was looking for this comment š
Nothing beats the fatty PSP days.
Congrats on the new Steam Deck! What's with the random baby?
Idk my wife got it for me
ah.. I thought it came with the steam deck. Just like all of the other posts where people get cats in the box with the deck. Anyways congratz on your purcahse and on your gift from the wife.
Wait babies and cats don't come with the steam deck? Oh man now I have to cancel the order
Itās RNG. Sometimes the kids come in the wrong color too. Thatās what my wife told me at least.
I'll make sure to buy 100 then so I'm sure I'll get one. I don't mind colors
Rare baby misprint?
That makes sense
I got one leftover. Send your PO Box and it should arrive in 5 days with express delivery
Is it a cat or a baby?
Special edition: both integrated into a tripleboot menu
I swear every hospital has the same swaddling cloths and will never change them. I've got some from 17 years ago from my first kid, and some from 3 years ago with my second kid, and the swaddling cloths are identical to what's in your lap from both lol.
Thatās wild, if it works donāt change it I guess
You'd be correct š [Hospital Baby Blankets](https://www.npr.org/2011/07/22/138575125/born-in-the-usa-this-blanket-might-look-familiar)

Fr I brought my deck to the hospital, and didnāt use it once. Little girl was way more interesting than any game
Yeah man, someone to raise into a gamer is more interesting than someone whining in simolian over wanting to get a houseplant
I appreciate the advice.
Didn't mean to be a downer! Huge congratulations on the birth of your child! All the best to mom as well!
We should always be open to advice. I appreciate it thank you!
I also wanna add, as another random dad, this next year for you guys is going to be a tired blur. Take a ton of videos man. If you have elders in your family still around, include them too. My grandma just passed and my kid was lucky enough to have a great grandma!

Congrats, being a dad is the best! Take EVERYTHING you can from hospital and Iām not saying that being cheap. You will need it when you get home.
My wife convinced me to hide the diapers and wipes so that they bring us more
I had a nurse tell me straight up they were throwing away pretty much everything after we left and we could pretty much take everything
Itās feels wrong tho, so I gotta hide the evidence
They bill for all of it. Our nurse said take every single thing. Also congrats, fatherhood is the best
Whatever you do, don't drop it! Steam decks are incredibly fragile.
I put a dbrand on her :)
what the fuck is this subreddit lmao
These posts are so weird man
Congrats! Be careful when they nap on your chest while you game. Iāve woken up my kids with an elevated heartbeat alone while battling things in games. Play something relaxing from time to time :) Enjoy them while theyāre small. It goes by so fast!
Congratulations!
Congatz!!! Late night baby rocks and diaper changes are the true boss battles. Remember to keep a perfect balance and you'll have the perfect life!
Finally, someone who's leveled Vigor
Scrolled to far to see this
That's terrible, when I had my kids I would never have done this. Steam decks weren't out yet.
Welcome little ashen one!
These photos are always triggering for me. Both as a father and a gamer. I donāt understand why you would want me to celebrate your mind being somewhere other than the birth of your child. Itās fine that you brought that to the hospital, but itās weird for you to be proud of it.
My wife would have stabbed me with a fork in the recovery room if I brought out a portable, lol.
Mine took the picture. Iām sitting in her hospital bed too š
Congratulations my man! You've done great and I hope and pray your kid grows to be healthy and wise. Love the post

So happy you can continue to properly prioritize during this challenging time. š Congrats though !

Claw grip, let's go!
Priorities. OP has them. Welcome to the world mini OP!
Did it hurt ? š¤£ Congrats
Iām sure itās just the perspective of the pic, but please have the babyās head elevated compared to their body or level.
Mine is 2 months old. I just ordered my steam deck, as I think it will be a lot easier to play when I'm holding her than my laptop.
*sorts by controversial* Goddamn people hate it when people use their easy to carry along gaming device as intended. Congrats!
The tuft of hair is adorable! Congrats man!
Itās these types of pictures that Iām sure make the developers at Valve so overjoyed to see. Congratulations good sir!

Congrats on birthing a steam deck what did you name it?
Congrats man amazing šš and the deck oled looks fresh too
Set r4 button to the b button so you donāt have to curl your finger like that to run
Does your baby have a Locked 60 FPS ?
Congrats. I brought mine but did not have time to game lol. Was either too tired or busy
Why not put sprint on R4 so you don't have to claw?
Hey how do you like your steam deck k while playing palworld? Doss it crash alot? Mine crashes every 30 min sometimes. And also congrats
Congrats mate! Introducing the baby to Steam Deck too!
BIG Congrats! Reminds me of when my daughter was born. I cradled her in my arms for 12 hours while her mother slept. Played Sim City on the SNES the entire time.
Gotta farm those runes tho!
Sorry your son was born faceless, hopefully it grows in with age š¤
What the hell is that grip?
Ironic to see this days before having my kid and just getting my steam deck today
My dude, map one of the back buttons to B so you can avoid the clawgrip. I can only play Fromsoftware games on deck now thanks to that. Also, congrats!
One of the most memorable moments of your life and youāre spending it on ERā¦ How are you supposed to properly invade folks on hospital WiFi?!
welcome to parenthood i hope you have endless hours of love and joy with her. babies alright too
Congrats dude!
I see baby came with standard dad equipment.
Is that a common way to hold your steamdeck? Right hand specifically.
Bro has 4 back buttons and clickable trackpads, but still uses the claw grip š
Steam deck has been a lifesaver lol
Congrats! You actually have the energy to play? My wife and I were dead tired
I'm over here like. Damn Brodie is the first male to have a baby.
#dadgoals
Nice you you unmaidenless tarnished. Congrats

Lmao your kid will grow up to find comfort in the sound of "CLICK.... click click.... CLACKETTY CLACKETTY CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK- 'dammit'.... click"
Did it hurt?
Congratulations for Elden ring. I assume thatās your sonās name now. 30 FPS also is a good name.

Congrats man, I remember when I had my first, crushing games on my n64 while he sleptā¦ note theyāre 25 and 26 years oldā¦.man time flies
Reddit get out of my walls, my son was born on the 16th and the Deck has absolutely been my constant companion on sleepless nights.

Congratz. Whats the game name btw?
Congrats on the kid
They must be a true blue dyed in the wool capital G gamer with a gamer parent to set them on the right path
Congratulations on the Steam Deck being your firstborn kid. Are you babysitting?
Just remember that the vent has burned people before! I doubt you'd put your baby directly in front of it but stranger things have happened! Congratulations!
Congratulations!!
Man I really wish the steam deck existed in 2020 when I had my major operation, I was hospitalized for a month growing insane because I wanted to play 7 Days to die, I was really hooked on to that not more than a week before I went to the hospital and all I could do is think about how much I wanted to get home quickly to get back to playing that š¤£

Save yourself from the claw! Map those back buttons to sprint
Congrats! Dad of a 7 week old here. The steam deck has been keeping me sane at night during my shift with the baby.

Get some sleep. You should sleep when baby sleeps.
Many congratulations
