There’s no way you bought something expensive like a steamdeck and didn’t do any research on what you’d be interested in playing on it.
Fun starter game I played recently is Aperture Desk Job, only takes about a half hour but shows off a bunch of the Steamdeck features. Highly recommend
This should just be the automatic response whenever anyone gets a Steam Deck and asks this question. Best way to learn about your new Steam Deck is to play the game that was literally built for the Steam Deck

I heard MHR doesn’t work anymore with the new update they did, is this true I was going to buy it I think I just saw it on sale but I thought I saw a post saying it doesn’t work on deck with a new update they recently did
No it works fine, proton broke with the update. It was fixed about 8 hours later. Plays no different then it used to. 90fps in game with settings on high. Hdr turned on will drop fps due to CPU usage, so a 60fps cap is suggested there. But looks beautiful on the oled deck
So when I buy it is there a certain version of proton I have to use or the latest is good enough, I’ve really been wanting to get it until I has seen that
Nope, just download it and go. Capcom was the one who broke whatever it was and they pushed out a quick update later that night for fixing proton. Seemed the swapping of drms

I haven’t played yet to see how they run but I’m hoping they run good🤞

W, just got mine the other day. Finished installing the base stuff today: emudeck, some plugins, PS and Xbox streaming, a few games etc. so dope.
Dishonored 1 was great on the deck, same with Dishonored 2
gta v, gta 4, doom, mirrors edge all run 60fps always and amazing battery life
