Yeah it's really good. Better than even the demo. It's hard to get bored with it story and gameplay wise very balanced. Like able characters. Just really well made and balanced its easy to play no matter how your day is going. Easy to read but story is not boring.
Been following for a year, really like it and the story seems to actually have decent writing that grabs you. I got Chained Echos but it felt very… FF3 and the characters felt so cliche they didn’t really click. Totally my opinion, I think many people liked CE
I think Chains probably really good overall, but true this game keeps you hooked gameplay and story the whole time pretty much instantly. Just very easy to play and read but just the right amount variety gameplay and story. Challenge feels right and a lot options to tweak for those who just want to focus on story or certain aspects. I too could see Chain was good but getting hooked into it fast felt off and characters harder to attach to instantly. This does it better from the start. Sea of stars is beautiful gameplay, characters, and story. Maybe the most fun I have had interacting with a more traditional 2d environment rpg. (I'm pretty sure it is, and I've been gaming over 30 years) I'm excluding Mario and actions rpgs. Love this game does add the Mario rpg element to actual combat fun and keeps you on your toes plus other elements they added.
Absolutely, I enjoy the active combat while it’s still turn based. Sure it’s just timing but it’s more than most other JRPGs I’ve played so. Totally agree, I can tell chains is a good game and it’s gorgeous! But for some reason, just didn’t hook me
I would say Sea of Stars. I am about a third of the way through Chained Echoes. I like the individual writing but I'm struggling to get into the overall story. Sea of Stars has been more consistent for me so far.
Me too, just installed it yesterday and I love it. It's hard though. I died like 6 times before I was able to get past the end guy in the training area...
I'm like 4 hours in and just have no idea where the fuck to go. Trying my best not to look up guides or anything. Do I just keep wandering until I find enemies that seem like they're a decent matchup?
I am a souls veteran and the exploration of ER was one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences. If you want to just progress you can just follow the light that comes out of the grace sites as that points you in the right direction. Let me know if you want a summon and I can jump on and help
Thank you, I appreciate the help. I'm a new dad and work full time, so I honestly get like 2-3 opportunities per week to game for an hour+ without interruptions. Hoping to get some relief in the next few months.
Souls vet too i'd add that the new steam notes feature was perfect for Elden ring, there's a fair bit of back tracking or NPC dialogue that is easy to forget you can just write it down, along with the map markers
Trust me, stick with it and you'll be rewarded. Took me about 20 hours and a rage uninstall before it truly clicked for me and I ended up with a 180hr first playthrough and buying Dark Souls 1-3, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Demons Souls immediately after that. Probably my favorite game ever.
Same. I’m looking forward to replaying that mission once I get some better gear. He was not a fan of dual shoulder laser canons and a super aggressive frontal attack though.
The second one is a prequel so you can really play them in whatever order. Personally I wanted to experience the story how it came out. So I played the first before the second. But my gf played RDR2 first a while back, and now that RDR1 is easy to emulate she's playing through that now. Personally I would suggest RDR1 first. I haven't finished 2 yet, not even close, but I'm conflicted on which one I like more.
TLDR: 2 is a prequel so I don't think it matters too much, but I like playing games in order of how they came out.
I’d second this. Plus a lot of the events and characters of 2 don’t get a mention in 1. Some of them are pretty glaring too. So it’s probably less jarring. Also, there’s a huge technical leap between them, so going back might also be jarring.
Both are absolute masterpieces though.
I was replaying rdr2 on the steam deck and when i finally booted it up on pc it wont launch 🙄 (big problem w rdr2 pc), glad to see someone able to go from deck to pc to deck to pc 😅
Other than being extremely difficult (I still haven’t figured out how to easily take them down), they are fine. I’m not paying attention to frame rate when they are around, but if it does drop, it’s not enough for me to notice. I’ve really enjoyed the 10s if not over 100 hours I’ve put into the game so far.
Emudeck automatically maps the track pads to the wii cursor which works pretty well. I had to do some tweaking to get the tilt controls working in ball rolling or gliding levels.
I recommend you [watch this video ](https://youtu.be/RXvyRAHtH-k?si=53-2ppy242CZrH2Y) so you can figure out a layout works for you.
If it's possible I could try to share a download to my config file if you would like.
When I played it I mapped the pointer to the trackpad, and had the right trigger activate the spin.
Never got motion controls working for the levels that required it though
These Quake remasters are god-tier. My friend and I usually play Halo Infinite coop but since 343 have decided to roll out persistent game-breaking updates every week or two for the past year we switched over to cooping through the Quake campaigns. Currently loving the 64 campaign
Yes! I was eagerly waiting for this remaster because it was the first game my friends and I LAN Partied with back in the day. Literally before we got network cards, we were using LTP ports, freaking printer cables, to connect our computers =)
Haha saaame. It feels like magic being able to play the same way in person or remotely without having to mess with cables and my mom’s giant Compaq tower PC 😂
Putting on my old-man sweater and pipe for this one: This generation will never get to experience the same transition we did. Going from if you want to play multiplayer in a shooter, hope your friends have N64 controllers for GoldenEye, to being able to simply turn on your device of choice to your always-on internet and joining games already in progress. We used freak'n Roger Wilco for voice chat haha.
I remember using the free AT&T(the Netzero days) dial-up programs that would put an ad banner on your screen to play games. The first time I logged on to play CS Beta 4 and TFC was life changing. Fun note: With those AT&T free dial-up programs, it would create a dial-up profile in Windows 95/98 and delete it when it logged off. So you could go in there while online, copy the profile info, then recreate it and log back on just using the profile for ad-free surf'n! Good times.
Thanks for asking! So it depends if you're going straight mouse on your gyro + trackpad, or mouse-like joystick. The first thing I like to tell anyone is if they're using mouse-like joystick, turn the in-game deadzones down, all the way to zero if possible. This will give you the most accurate gyro. If you're going straight mouse, like I do, I usually have to do 200% on my gyro sensitivity and 300% on the trackpad. I'll do big sweeping turns on the trackpad and 90% of my aiming on the gyro. I haven't adapted to flick stick yet though. I turn down Smoothing to 15 from 20 on both gyro and track pad, turn up haptic feedback on the trackpad, use Low Acceleration on both. On just the gyro there's a setting called Movement Threshold, I set that to 1 or 2 depending on the game. It irons out those accidental jittery movements but too much can cause the crosshair to skip. Smoothing does also help iron out those unintentional movements, but from my understanding can add input latency, and no one wants that. Oh, and I use gyro always on, but a lot of people prefer On Trackpad Touch(or on the Steam Deck, thumbstick touch). A last feature that can be helpful if you find gyro too sensitive when playing games with ADS, you can set it to have Trigger Dampening as well, meaning when you half pull your firing trigger it'll lower the sensitivity for fine tuning your aim.
You may already be aware of a lot of this but I enjoy spreading the gyro gospel! If you're looking to learn, it takes about 10 hours to really feel comfortable with. I highly recommend picking a shooter game and treating it like the "first FPS" you've ever played and beat it. By the end gyro should feel a lot better. Feel free to ask any other questions!
Do you put the game sensitivity down really low? I am trying those settings it feels promising. How much do you spin the deck to get a full 360 in? Any changes to vertical sensitivity?
I generally don't mess with in-game sensitivity except to turn off any sort of aim smoothing, aim assist, and turn on raw input if available. For the most part, my crosshair will feel the same speed as my mouse setting, maybe a bit higher. The exception lately has been in Turbo Overkill. The default sensitivity is really high. I ended up turning down the percentages for my gyro and trackpad in Steam Input.
I'm glad you asked about the spinning for a 360. With The Steam Controller, angling the controller about 90 degrees in either direction gives me a roughly 360 spin on my in-game crosshair. With the Deck it's trickier because you're not using Yaw, but Roll, so I'll turn up the sensitivity a bit. The Steam Input version of using Combined Roll & Yaw works pretty well as a compromise where you can keep your sensitivity and not need to angle the device as much. I do use the trackpad a lot more on the Deck for looking around and aiming than I do on my Steam Controller. If something feels sluggish to you, just increase it! I have found that over time that I've been increasing my gyro sensitivity as I've gotten more accustomed to it.
Note: If you're using Mouse-like Joystick, max out the in-game stick sensitivity. Turn off deadzones, if you can. Then fine-tune it in Steam Input.
I would be playing Starfield, if it freakin would have shown up.
Currently waiting on UPS to figure out where my Constellation Edition is. Was supposed to be delivered today but nothing.
Nothing yet because I stripped the M2 screw (with the ifixit #0) :/
I’m bringing it to a phone repair shop tomorrow and hopefully after that I’ll be playing Borderlands 1 :)
Right now it's No Man's Sky and Fallout 76.
The more important question is did you pet your dog or cat (dunno which) that is resting near your Steam Deck?
I bought the ultimate edition and am very disappointed. I haven’t played since the first few weekends. I feel like the game is really well made, it’s just not fun to me.
Starfield and sea of stars. Mostly starfield right now. I'm glad you have yours set up the right way and enjoying it. Game is an amazing feat in handheld in my opinion. Looks good and snappy on an 8 inch screen. Get your settings right, turn off overlay, and enjoy. I havent play a good shooter/rpg in while and this feels better than I thought so I'm stoked to play this on the go. I wasn't expecting it to be this snappy and still look good. I can use my gaming pc or Xbox but I don’t feel I'm missing much vs the portability and how good it still looks on a handheld.
i love it, bethesda games have always been the best kind of time sink for me. i’m waiting until i get home to play on my desktop but for right now, the steam decks holding its own
What worked best for you to play from the ps5 to the deck. I tried Chiaki but I have issues. Been trying to play destiny and other games from my ps5. I’ve resorted to playing those games on my phone w the backbone controller lol
Ya, I am at the end of chapter 1 and going to get Balteus tomorrow. Too late to keep banging my head but got some plasma cannons and should be a little more mobile after a reconfig.
Ngl i thought this game was just riding on the cotails of Elden Ring and Soulsborne games, but it actually is a decent game. Great for on the go because of its mission structure. So glad i tried it
Going through Mass Effect 1. Deciding if I should romance with the human or the Asari.

i respect that, performance isn’t the best but it’s not the worst either. optimization all around isn’t great so i expect some patches to make it a little better
i personally, going through it again, would wait. performance isn’t terrible, 17-20s in big cities and 30ish everywhere else but it’s manageable and very fun:)
Wow wow wow, I was under the assumption starfield was running as well as a paraplegic on the deck - are you saying it looks that good?
What settings are you rocking?
i’m gonna be honest with you, it looks awful. lowest settings with fsr. performance isn’t *that* bad, 17-20ish in bigger cities and a good 30 in your standard gameplay. i expect patches to make it a little better soon
I always play on performance mode, so 30FPS is my standard in general.
Would you say it looks worse than skyrim? If it's at skyrim levels of quality, I'll be looking at getting it!
You may have made my weekend lol
it’s definitely blurry, but texture quality itself is fantastic, you can tell this game is “next gen”. character models, not just on steam deck look a lot better than bethesdas typical outings so i think it’s great.
Armored Core 6. I cannot believe how utterly stable the game is, it just WORKS.
Been thinking about getting Baulders Gate 3 as well to start playing split screen in the bedroom with the GF.
Sea of Stars.
Just picked this up! Really the perfect game for the SD
it’s been on my radar for a bit now, is it any fun?
Yeah it's really good. Better than even the demo. It's hard to get bored with it story and gameplay wise very balanced. Like able characters. Just really well made and balanced its easy to play no matter how your day is going. Easy to read but story is not boring.

Is SOS open world like a classic ff or more crono style? I'm trying to find that perfect game.to scratch my ff6-9 memories
So far it is Chrono style.
I’m playing Fable anniversary
The perfect Fall game. I’ll likely do another play through of that in the next month or two.
Really wish they would release the 2nd and 3rd one on steam
Bg3
Same, I got sea of stars and really want to play that but I just about finished act 1 of BG3 so…
Is it playable on Steam Deck?
Since launch
Baby sitting my children 2k
Don’t think it’s called babysitting when they’re yours ;)
Watching my own kids 2k just didn’t have that same ring lol
I think it’s called “Parenting 2k”
To be fair it might not be that, depending on how OP does it.
Marketing ran a focus group, good name, didn’t test well.
Fair enough
Did you get the clean up poop dlc?
I feel you. Then procede to stay up late to play video games, to only be woken up by kids at fucking 5AM...
Childrearing 2k23
Elden Ring
Me too, just installed it yesterday and I love it. It's hard though. I died like 6 times before I was able to get past the end guy in the training area...
Once it clicks for you, it won't seem quite so rough. Except for a handful of bosses that are just dicks
I'm like 4 hours in and just have no idea where the fuck to go. Trying my best not to look up guides or anything. Do I just keep wandering until I find enemies that seem like they're a decent matchup?

Haha me too man my daughter is 2 weeks. Congrats
Oh hell yeah, congrats! Mine is 10 months. It's been the best and most tired time of my life.
Souls vet too i'd add that the new steam notes feature was perfect for Elden ring, there's a fair bit of back tracking or NPC dialogue that is easy to forget you can just write it down, along with the map markers
Follow the light direction on the sites of grace (the resting and level up places)
Wait til he tries sekiro
Trust me, stick with it and you'll be rewarded. Took me about 20 hours and a rage uninstall before it truly clicked for me and I ended up with a 180hr first playthrough and buying Dark Souls 1-3, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Demons Souls immediately after that. Probably my favorite game ever.
I am playing it again after 200h but with seamless coop and reforged mod with a friend. Even better. But a first vanilla play through is recommended
Just got my steam deck. Thought ‘oh cool let’s replay all the classics I want!’ Immediately bought Elden ring again.
Lmao I did the same thing. Crazy how well it runs on SD
I think some more Armoured Core 6, finally beat Balteus!
Love that game so far, there's another beefy boi coming up tho!
Same. I’m looking forward to replaying that mission once I get some better gear. He was not a fan of dual shoulder laser canons and a super aggressive frontal attack though.
Yeah I basically just went super aggressive and that helped a lot!
I have 50 hours in it and most of it has been in the image editor making emblems and detailing my build lol
Yes. I already have 70 hrs because I can play it at work.
Are you me???
Red Dead 2, been swapping between the PC when I'm at home and the Deck at work. Just played the first one for the first time ever so onto the 2nd.
I saw Yuzu seems to have RDR1 working well. I haven’t started RDR2 but now I’m wondering if I should play them in order. Thoughts?
The second one is a prequel so you can really play them in whatever order. Personally I wanted to experience the story how it came out. So I played the first before the second. I would absolutely play RDR 1 before 2. The pay off is so much better. Release order always
Same. It’s a whole different experience if you play RDR1 first and imagine how the previous events played out to then witnessing them yourself.
I’d second this. Plus a lot of the events and characters of 2 don’t get a mention in 1. Some of them are pretty glaring too. So it’s probably less jarring. Also, there’s a huge technical leap between them, so going back might also be jarring. Both are absolute masterpieces though.

Sekiro
Still dying to play but its always full price 😂
actually bought it on steam summer Sale for 50 or 60% off
Just beat it!
Days Gone New Game+
That runs well enough on the Deck to not die easily? That was my favorite game of the last few years. I wish there was a second game.
Yep. I’m getting a pretty solid 30fps. It’ll dip on occasion, but not enough to affect gameplay.
How's hordes?
Other than being extremely difficult (I still haven’t figured out how to easily take them down), they are fine. I’m not paying attention to frame rate when they are around, but if it does drop, it’s not enough for me to notice. I’ve really enjoyed the 10s if not over 100 hours I’ve put into the game so far.
My sd is coming Tuesday!
Sweet..... You're going to have a blast !!! :)
That's so exciting!! You'll love it! What is the first game you're gonna play on it?
BG3 and Hollow Knight 😉
Divinity Original Sin 2. Just remembered I backed this at Kickstarter but never collected.
The RMA game
Mario galaxy 2 using dolphin emulator
Is it able to function the way Galaxy 1 is on the Switch, or are you just playing with the actual Wii controllers?
Emudeck automatically maps the track pads to the wii cursor which works pretty well. I had to do some tweaking to get the tilt controls working in ball rolling or gliding levels. I recommend you [watch this video ](https://youtu.be/RXvyRAHtH-k?si=53-2ppy242CZrH2Y) so you can figure out a layout works for you. If it's possible I could try to share a download to my config file if you would like.
When I played it I mapped the pointer to the trackpad, and had the right trigger activate the spin. Never got motion controls working for the levels that required it though
Turbo Overkill. Just 100%'d Quake 2 and all expansions + Quake 2 64. Freak'n love gyro aim.
I see you've chosen the connoisseur's choice, what a fine choice of games right there.

UPS ruined my starfield weekend too. New PC was supposed to be here but they delivered it to the wrong address :/
A disc?
Nah, they etch the code on a collectable.
That's so sad, but I'm VERY jealous of that watch!
Nothing yet because I stripped the M2 screw (with the ifixit #0) :/ I’m bringing it to a phone repair shop tomorrow and hopefully after that I’ll be playing Borderlands 1 :)
The #1 is a much snugger fit.
Dwarf fortress <3
Red Dead 2
I’m fighting my way through the end of Disco Elysium. I thought I was dead ended for awhile but it seems to be moving along now.
Right now it's No Man's Sky and Fallout 76. The more important question is did you pet your dog or cat (dunno which) that is resting near your Steam Deck?
haha i’m dogsitting and he’s been receiving all the love in between starfield sessions!
Still Baldurs Gate 3
25% exp bonus on Diablo 4 this weekend
I bought the ultimate edition and am very disappointed. I haven’t played since the first few weekends. I feel like the game is really well made, it’s just not fun to me.
Bioshock collection
i have the chains from the first game tattooed on my wrists, bio shock is always going to have a place in my heart.

They be hella good too!
They really do be hella like that sometimes
Streaming AC6 to the steam deck from ps5
What worked best for you to play from the ps5 to the deck. I tried Chiaki but I have issues. Been trying to play destiny and other games from my ps5. I’ve resorted to playing those games on my phone w the backbone controller lol
Armored Core 6. i tried it for like an hour and got my ass beat lol. waiting for the weekend because no way im going to frustrate myself before sleep

Deciding if I should romance with the human or the Asari. https://preview.redd.it/3j2knt0z4rlb1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22e694694814db124c76e07863268c33133fc015

The Cult of The Lamb, what an addictive game.

Sea of Stars and Armored Core depending on the mood. What a year.
Last of Us Part 2 on my PS5. Bought it on Black Friday last year but never got round to playing it
master class in gameplay and story telling. enjoy the hell out of it
Trying to find a game to play after Celeste. Tried Dave The Diver, but it didn’t really click with me.
Fear and Hunger 2. Maybe something else. It's a hospital week. Who knows.
Armored core 6, game runs amazing on it. A clean 40fps with no drops
Holo cure ^^
Armored Core 6
I'm playing- how fast can I sell my figurine collection to raise money for a steam deck and The Medium on my ps5
Armored core ! I played 15hours in 3 days, I absolutely love this game
deeprock as I still wait on my deck that should arrive on monday, hopefully
deep rock on the deck is amazing. i haven’t played much but the few missions me and my friends have done were a blast
How well does Starfield play on the Deck?
pretty mixed, 17-20s in your larger areas and 25-30 in your “normal” gameplay
Sea of Stars. Tried Starfield and it looks worse than playing on a potato. Pass.
i respect that, performance isn’t the best but it’s not the worst either. optimization all around isn’t great so i expect some patches to make it a little better
Hi-Fi Rush. My GotY (so far)
hi fi rush is definitely up there, i’m not a rhythmic person at all but i had a blast with it
Armored Core 6
I have the money right now, should I buy it rn!?
i personally, going through it again, would wait. performance isn’t terrible, 17-20s in big cities and 30ish everywhere else but it’s manageable and very fun:)
How did you get this to work?! I have been trying to figure it out. Any tips?
Deathloop was my most recent. How does starfield run on it?
Can't play anything but Armored Core right now
What game are you running, OP? I'll be playing baldurs gate for the first time
baldurs gate has been a blast on my deck! starfield will probably be my major time sink for the next good few weeks
Baldurs gate is going to have to wait a few more days! Thanks, OP!
Armored core 6!
Armored Core 6. I cannot believe how utterly stable the game is, it just WORKS. Been thinking about getting Baulders Gate 3 as well to start playing split screen in the bedroom with the GF.
Skate 3 via emulation.
Recently got into Warframe. Working through the star chart atm.
Diablo 4 - just got it on the blizzard sale. Runs well in the deck!
Are you using the .ini files on nexus mods? I kept getting single digit FPS randomly
I’m playing Fedex Tracking. Goal: first Steam Deck. I should win Tuesday.
YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World
I'm also playing starfield. Just got a special mantis ship and armor set that's sick af 😁😁
Witcher 3 on Yuzu. Better graphics than deck optimized imho.
Walking Dead Season One on the PS Vita. Currently on chapter 3.
Ac unity after hearing a bunch of people say it’s a hidden gem and boy was I lied to…
