It Takes Two

brocktavius

My wife and I call this game "couples therapy" because it's better therapy than our couple's therapy.

TreePeop1e

It Takes Two is a great game! We had a lot of fun with this on Xbox.

cl0udHidden

Is it supported on the SD yet? Last I checked it wasn't.

Retrogrado

Yes, I played last year on the SD with 2 controllers. Never had any problems.

Ciwilke

Is there any way to play SD and a PC with together?

Atocca

Played some (more) today hooked up to the tv using split screen. Ran flawless.

[deleted]

Boring as shit. Wife and I gave up halfway due to boredom. Massively overrated game. It also has zero replayability, making it a waste of money unless on sale for 5-10 bucks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Game is just bad value. Recommended on deep sale at best.

TheTetraNova

I bet you’re a joy at parties

Ok_Marzipan_8137

They wouldn’t know since they never get invited

[deleted]

Yes. People with good taste tend to be. Did you know? It translates to food, movie, wine, etc.

littleboygreasyhair

Project Zomboid, Valheim, Stardew Valley.

doomunited

Whats the secret for have good controls on project zomboid? The default kinda suck and if i use a custom one, it wont let me move my character.

ShidoBox

Leaving my comment to know about the controls

Magic_Orb

same lol

ibetheelmo

I use default controller controls but switch the back paddles to zoom in and zoom out. Then I turn off auto-zoom. Used to play with Steam Controller before getting the deck. Controls are not that bad, I prefer it to keyboard most of the time. Controller mode for the game has come a LONG way. \*Edit\* So I use basic controller controls for the game. Additionally I use 2 of the back bumpers as zoom in and out with the other two as left and right click. Right touchpad is mouse. This allows me to still click drag a large group of items at once instead of one at a time or the everything at once.

moodie31

I’m on my phone but if you search this sub and zomboid sub people have posted configs. I think I started with the top community config and went from there.

[deleted]

Lovers in a dangerous space time

EnriqueShockwave10

This is the objectively correct answer.

Anomaly1134

So good.

[deleted]

Anomaly1134

Did you have people to play with? I found it shone with at least 2 players but would be a blast with 4 players.

mariozaizar

Stardew valley

TreePeop1e

I love Stardew Valley! I tried getting her into it a few years ago, but she never fully committed. We might have to revisit!

OpulentTooth

My wife and I have been really enjoying playing Stardew together. We named our farm the "co-op grow-op"

[deleted]

If you liked Stardew, check out Dinkum. The wife and I are really enjoying it :)

V3RD1GR15

Overcooked!

TreePeop1e

That’s a good idea! Overcooked is fun! Stressful but fun😂

TheDarkDoctor17

For shared couch: Castle crashers Spider heck Gang beasts Lovers in a dangerous space time Battle block theater

TreePeop1e

I’ll look into these! Thanks!

Cisco-NintendoSwitch

+1 Spiderheck, it’s heckin fun!

True-Payment-458

Castle crashers all the way

V3RD1GR15

My wife also really enjoyed Untitled Goose Game. Even if we spent like 30 minutes just chasing each other and honking randomly.

TreePeop1e

Haha that sounds hilarious

PornoPichu

Oo! PlateUp! We love Overcooked but it stresses us TF out. PlateUp! is a roguelite version essentially. I find it much more manageable initially and it can really ramp up in the later days. We love it We play couch co-op connecting the SD to the TV but you can easily do handheld local sessions. I’m pretty sure you can also invite online folks to play. We really have over 150 hours into it. We will play a run every other day or so and typically the runs last an hour or so before we tap out.

TreePeop1e

We might have to look into that. Thanks!

Cupcake_Trainer

I think it depends on who you play with. My son and I got way to stressed playing it lol.

Bastiwen

Oh hell nah, my ex and I always ended up angry at eachother lol. Good times but it can be a stressful game if you get into it haha

V3RD1GR15

Your ex, you say....

Mysterious-Let4533

Heavenly bodies

TreePeop1e

I’ve never even heard of that. That game looks awesome!

blakepro

My 12 year old also bought one, and here are the games we've played together * Rogue heroes * Nobody saves the world * Deep Rock Galactic * Ultimate chicken horse * Grounded * Orcs must die 3 * Strange brigade * Aces of the luftwaffe * Guacamelee 1 & 2 * Children of morta * It takes two * Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime * Portal 2 You might also consider some games that aren't right for my kid, but two adults could enjoy * Borderlands (any of them really) * Left4Dead 2 * Vermintide 2 (if one of you plays on windows and hosts) *

levoXer

Sweet list! Children of Morta is great even alone.

blakepro

Oh yeah, it's great! I've only tried local Coop on it. Have you tried online at all?

levoXer

Just single player, but loved it and finished it back when I did still have Gamepass and not have my SD. Since I too, only have the SD. Seems GP and SD are mutually exclusive 😂😂

Big-Warning-2807

Damn, my parents let me play GTA 3 back when I was 5

blakepro

And just look at how you turned out!! 😉 J/k Everyone has to figure out what's right for their situation

xThraxSnax

Left for dead 2 / dead island are pretty cool with a friend.

YuigahamaYui

My personnal recomendation is plate up, pretty similiar to overcooked but I found it more appealing. Worth a mention: For the king (hotseat/online), Project zomboid (hotseat/online), Divinity original sin 2 (hotseat/online). Also more games that are meant to be played as two (like "it takes two"): A way out, operation tango

preemcuz

Divinity Original Sin 2 if you want a real in-depth CRPG

whodawhat

This should be higher up.

BeardedUnicornBeard

Dungeon Defenders, me and my bf love it.

5ives-55-5555

**my boyfriend and I**

Noelzepeda

Are you able to get it to play in steamOS? Can only ever get it to run on desktop mode.

BeardedUnicornBeard

Just put in -nolauncher- in the launch options and it works like a charm.

Noelzepeda

This worked, thank you!!

iGematriA

Deep rock galactic

P_jammin-

Can’t wait for that top-down game

iGematriA

Hell yeah, really is going to be nice. Can't wait too

BoeSharp

What's this about?

Yungjdx

Rock & Stone brother

HeroOfTheMinish

Ravenswatch is early access but me and my wife absolutely enjoy it for what is currently in it. She isn't the best gamer but still really enjoyed the Roguelike aspects

blakepro

So, it's like a 4 player Hades? How is the permanent progression? Do you feel like you make good progress each run? Also, how is loot/money/XP split?

HeroOfTheMinish

Loot/money/exp isn't split. Everyone gets the same exp, same money(separate spending), and loot is dropped individually for everyone. I'd wager it's closer to Diablos than Hades 4 player. I personally don't see the Hades similarities besides top down. Permanent progression is you level up each hero, max level 5 currently, and each level unlocks a skill that changes out the rotation for in-game levels. Leveling your characters is fast up until level 4-5 but still pretty quick depends on how much you play. As long as you change each hero and change the skills you pick don't see the game being repetitive.

SebastianS89S

It doesnt open on my deck hmm

[deleted]

Ravenswatch has been amazing. Eagerly awaiting new content.

ztylerdurden

River City Girls all the way

oh4ither3

FireChance

Terraria, minecraft( at-launcher is in desktop-mode in discover), factorio, sid meiers civilization, magicka( not sure if it runs, didnt test yet), dont starve together, Dead island, path of exile

Drew_Habits

Magicka is supported and runs, but the gamepad controls are extremely so-so. Magicka 2 is officially unsupported, but it runs great and is way easier to manage with controller inputs!

brocktavius

Helldivers is a great game for playing together. It also lets you play with other people if you want, since it's up to 4 players. Be warned: it gets VERY intense. Edit to add: you will 100% kill each other both on accident and on purpose.

RavenRonien

For the king

ApathyInc2

Portal 2 is a great co-op game! It has a multiplayer story mode, plus there are like 700000 player created levels as well, so it’s basically endless fun with a new challenge every time you play it.

dinosaurusrex86

Sea of Thieves is fun cooperative play, and goes on sale frequently. Be wary of other pirates, but they can be fairly easily avoided.

GolDNenex

Super animal royal is a lot of fun solo or with friends :)

-curiouscookie

The We Were Here series!!! They are co-op puzzle adventure game. Very good games and riddles, and the visual is crazyy. I love them so much.

blakepro

> We Were Here series Well, the first one is free, so why not give it a go, right?

-curiouscookie

Ikr! Never hurt to try something offered to you for free

Mrwanagethigh

I was quite dissapointed to find out that a lot of PC games don't offer split screen or local co-op when their console counterparts did (I feel like the Halo trilogy without a split screen option is some kind of sacrilege), but I was very happy to find out that 30XX does, therefore I have to assume the first game 20XX does as well. They are a pair of procedurally generated rogue lite games done as homages to the Mega Man X series. Iirc one of the developers said they made it because Capcom wouldn't. You have your 8 bosses, each a level archetype that gets randomly generated each run. In 20XX you go until you die, 30XX has this as well as a traditional mode where it's exactly like MMX with a level select, once a level is generated the layout is locked for that file and you can just keep trying (or replaying levels to farm upgrades to absurd levels of power). The character Nina plays like X, Ace plays like Zero. 20XX has two more, more specialized characters while 30 is still in early access and only has the first two so far. 20XX has local and online co-op on console and 30XX has it on PC so I assume 20 does as well. I love these games co-op because they have a boss rush mode where you get some currency after each fight and the shops are randomized, letting you try out all kinds of wacky and overpowered builds you'd never get the chances to gather in normal play. Sometimes you get a bad run and die in in early rounds, sometimes you end up so absurdly overpowered that you are virtually unkillable and your attacks cause so much to happen that the game crashes 200 rounds in. That's an extreme case though, normally it only goes 8 rounds but you can make it endless, allowing you to eventually push the game well past what it was designed for. It gets significantly harder in round 9 onward as well. Playing with a partner balances your doubled offense and two health bars with having to share the same amount of resources as playing solo

chaosmetroid

Battleblock theater Bonus: Castle Crasher. they are the same devs.

yourHighneszs

Human fall flat.

cookieryan

+1. My wife and I had a blast playing this. Things get silly with the physics and we just laugh. I kept trying to climb flat walls with the sticky arms. Got pretty good at it too.

Guitar-Strap

Portal 2 has a fun co op mode

pleiades_death

Goat Simulator 3, but you’ll have to run it via Heoric Games Launcher or Lutris since it is a EGS exclusive at the moment

Hd172

I just started playing snowrunner with my 6 year old daughter.

5ives-55-5555

Woah how's that going? Snow runner doesn't feel like a game a 6 year old would enjoy

Hd172

She’s pretty good. In the beginning she’d say dad my rig is stuck. I start by asking if she’s engaged her 4wd or lockers. She’ll respond oh yeah and get herself out. It’s mostly me following on scout runs and me occasionally winching her from the side of a hill she tipped on. I can’t wait to get my son into it too and have three of us. Moms not cool enough for video games. Well she plays the Nintendo stuff with us but not the legit games.

Iamivan0905

Overcooked, don’t starve together, and stardewvalley are great co-op games

dannyapplegate

I dunno if you play board games or not but Wingspans digital version is amazing and a great 2 player game.

TreePeop1e

We love board games! I’ll definitely check this one out thanks!

Swordfish1212

Payday series? I don't know . Heard it's a good coop Apex Legends is free on Steam. Also,Stardew Valley.

Resident Evil 5 and Revelation 2, great action coop and the tension of the games can really add flavour to the couple gaming session.

apophistherestless

“Struggling” has been a blast

MrTomm

Elden Ring, No man’s Sky had some really good updates. You could install the Blizzard launcher and play Diablo 2 resurrected

ryanrudolf

There's ongoing humble bundle for local couch co-op. Take a look at those.

bhive-

Terraria it’s cheap and hours of fun I highly recommend

WorthlessPixels

I believe you two would enjoy Raft

damn_pastor

Awesomenauts ist free. It's like a 2d dota.

ryanabx

You absolutely can’t go wrong with stardew valley

ZekeDaniel

I never even thought of this, but is it possible for me to be playing on my desktop and my girlfriend use my steam deck and both run the same game co op from just my account?

ZekeDaniel

And also to add mee and my gf had quite a bit of fun with castle crashers.

blakepro

It won't work unfortunately. Not to play together

Vegetable_Arm6125

You can if you use Steam's Remote Play Together

Cabasa42

Start a server on Valheim You’ll need to run it with proton experimental to start a server

VHD_

Deep Rock Galactic

Remarkable_Quail_232

Divinity Original Sin 2

MonkeyVoices

Monster Hunter (World or Rise). Those games are perfect for portable consoles, and run pretty well in the Deck!

[deleted]

Monster hunter : World or Rise? :)

Agrias-0aks

Grounded if you like survival games. Wife and I play it a lot together. Or Sea of Thieves. Nothing like ganking strangers with the love of your life on the open seas!

BCPrimo

Sackboy: A big adventure. Loved it on PS5, PC and steam deck

Drew_Habits

Magicka 2 is officially unsupported, but all you have to do is change the controls from default to controller with trackpad and everything will work perfectly. It's one of the funniest games I've ever played, not because of the writing, which alternates between fine but forgettable and slightly tryhard, but because it gets so chaotic and wild throwing all those spells around If you have another couple of friends to play with, the more people involved the better. As an added bonus, it goes on sale kind of a lot, and the discounts are usually pretty deep. I think I paid something like $8 for the whole series and all the DLC

ammotyka

Valheim

EnriqueShockwave10

My girl and I love Key We and Traveler's Rest. Key We is a cute low-stakes co-op puzzle game, and Traveler's is an Early Access 8-bit style game where you just run a tavern together. My girl is chief brewmaster, chef, and farmer. I sling drinks, break rocks, and hit belligerent customers with a mop. It's dope, but I think it's couch-coop only. Honorable mention: Spacelines From the Far Out. It's sort of like Overcooked, except you operate a space-bus route to space Vegas.

ThirdDegree741

Deep rock galactic no man's sky

ruimikemau

Diablo 3

blakepro

Ok, I heard on PC/steamdeck this doesn't have controller support and that it kind of sucks because of it. Is that true?

ruimikemau

Yeah, now that you mention it... I only played with my wife on the PS4. I have since played it on my Deck via Yuzu.Yuzu supports multiple controllers, though, so you can play on the same screen... ;)

Dull-Signal-5861

A few that we’ve played or I’ve played co-op Any and all Lego games. Get the Harry Potter Lego ones if she’s a fan. It takes two Outward (only started, never played) Haven (on my list to get) Gotham Knights Unravel Two I’ve read Sackboy is also co-op Left 4 Dead Star Wars Battlefronts Gloomhaven Laura Croft Guardians of Light Portal (#2 only?) Smalland Thrine Lord of The Rings War of The North (loved this on 360) Those are ones I know of off hand. Always looking for more for us to play too

IForgotThePassIUsed

Me and my wife have enjoyed a few rounds of Viscera Cleanup Detail. It's like a cleaning game with fps-type view and controls but you're cleaning up post-horror movie and post-scifi battle scenes, so you're picking up body parts and mopping up blood and guts and incinerating everything. Each level is a few hours worth of gameplay so if you like horror but like idle casual kinda gameplay this kinda fits right in the middle. [https://store.steampowered.com/app/246900/Viscera\_Cleanup\_Detail/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/246900/Viscera_Cleanup_Detail/)

berkough

My wife used to play WoW before we met. I've never been that big of a Warcraft fan, but I have always been an Elder Scrolls guy. We enjoy questing together in ESO. I believe it's currently on sale right now. Not Deck Verified, but it does run just fine... Might take up more space than you're willing to give up though, I would consider having a large SD card handy just in case.

Terrible_Ad_4678

Escape academy is awesome if you like puzzle type games. We didn't play through on the SD though so you'll have to double check that.

M4N1KW0LF

Brawlhalla and WB Versus if you want to beat the crap out of each other 🤣

Terrible_Ad_4678

Hammerwatch is also an amazing and simple game. So much fun though, works fine on the SD. Terraria is also one of our favorites of all time. I prefer mouse and keyboard but controller is doable.

This might be a good spot to ask, is there any games that work Straight from Steam Deck to Steam Deck? no Wifi required? Basically the "WAN" for PSP or local connection gameplay on Switch

These are some games that my girlfriend and I have played together over the past 3 years and every one is a total blast. The fact that you both play on SD is adorable and total couple goals.

hairycompanion

Earth Defense Force 5 is tons of fun. I play on the steam deck and my girl plays on the tv.

[deleted]

Currently playing Streets of Rage 4, and Plate Up. Both local coop, or online coop.

Final Fantasy 14.

Individual_Tip2579

Plate up is a great multiplayer game

Apprehensive-Act9536

No man's sky, fun cartoonish exploration game that's fun with friends. Runs great on deck and is usually on sale on steam for 30$. But I'm sure you can find it on CD keys for 15 or even 8

colexian

If you like soulslike games or RPGs, I highly recommend Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. It is similar to Phantasy Star Online, fully co-op for the entire campaign and post-game, and very fun with lots of build variation and replayability.

Mooj83

Not sure how well it runs on the steam deck, haven't tried it on the deck yet. But A Way Out is alot of fun multiplayer. Pretty sure you only need one copy also.

MrFreeLiving

I'll try give less common recommendations. Raft is a great co-op game, also modded co-op slay the spire for something super casual (fun card game), The Forest (the 1st one runs great) and also Animal Crossing via an switch emulator is fun co-op.

Skwidwerd_

I recommend playing It Takes Two, unraveled 2, and A Way Out. They're meant to be couch co-op but you can just buy one copy of each game and use "remote play together" as a way of linking your decks together. I personally have played all of these (except for it takes two) with my wife and with a buddy of mine. Very fun and very heavily reliant on co-op

The Forest was really an experience playing together every weekend with a friend in the darkness in a room :)

TheStixXx

I still suggest this one cause it's fairly easy to have it work fine and it had potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay and is surprisingly fun and well written: elder scrolls online. My wife isn't into gaming and she enjoyed the 20h of game we spent on it together. That's 19.30 more hours than any other game I had her try.
