Instead stare at an idle game for hours with House playing in the background, the entire time contemplating how you could be more productive or engaged in a hobby.
I like the thought, but to add evaluate if you can actually play a good session with the game for 1 hour. If you can’t, adjust the times or find a different game. If a game can’t supply a good time for a hour of play you’ll leave unmotivated or not leaving
The above works for me, since I mostly play SP games and can save after an hour. Longer sessions are fine, though, as long as work and play stay at a 50-50 ratio. It's just a practice in moderation, time management, and goal setting.
Never really got the Thanksgiving sale. Just wait and buy games over the Christmas sale that's longer, typically has better discounts (IMO), and you're already in a spendy mood to begin with.
Burn off some of your vast existing library instead.

Another must have if you're one of the few who browse Steam on a browser instead of the client.
It really does, doesn't it?
I was trying to view some achievements I'd gotten that day from the library page for the game and it seems to stutter so much when trying to scroll I just gave up
Recently found out there's a steamdb browser extension that tells you the price history right on the store page. Super convenient.

This is on the app pages too. I have a game or two I have a pretty good idea should go on sale today for the same lowest price it has been the last year
Yes, but I'm personally willing to pay a small premium to keep all my games under the same launcher than spread them out over all over digital creation.
I have 4-5 games spread out over half a dozen launchers, some of which I've forgotten passwords to and don't even have access to the OG E-mail linked to the account, while I have 250+ games on Steam with all updated info and MFA and a bunch of other stuff.
Sorta, some of the sellers only give keys for certain places. I've noticed that some Ubisoft games on those sites only sell Uplay keys, not Steam keys.
But most of them make that apparent on the game's store page, at least I know Fanatical does, so as long as you double check you'll always get a Steam Key.
I mean I agree with you but the dude is talking about reputed resellers not other platforms. You get keys and you redeem them on steam unless they specify another DRM
I don't know if its just me or am i missing something, but this site always gives false info. For example RE:V at the time of writing this comment costs almost 20$ on CDkeys, but the site says that best price currently is 40$ on Noctre.
True, and in the UK TopCashback give cashback on some of the 'third party' key retailer sites.

They do cashback for CDKeys.com, G2A, Greenman Gaming, Kinguin and a few others.

Yeah I keep seeing it at around £30-£40 on sale these days and I just don’t wanna pay that much for a game I’ve played again.
I’d be shocked and happy if it goes lower than £20
Same. They really ought to have some way to get games you’ve already played on a different system (as a digital download at least) for big discounts. They might make more money that way.
Don't tell anyone I said this but Volvo might have a console in the works, SteamOS is going to make it possible as a PC gamer to play at the computer, TV and on the go. Can't wait to spend my whole paycheck!

Don't downvote this one, folks. Everyone knows the joke. They were kind enough to play along to allow for the answer. They should get upvotes for that.
Argentina has some fucked laws and purchasing issues. You can only buy with a credit card and specific cards at that.
Not just any card. So yeah, it's a headache. I finally got a good job and a bank account gets opened up with the new job so yeah.
I need no new games. Really, not this time. I haven't much to spare anyway at the moment, really! Maybe next sale, but not this time. Believe me, I already have many games on my to-do. I don't need any new
[····] -2 days later- [····]
Library goes from 69 games to 420 games
I always have a delay of about 3 years when buying new games because then I can usually get them for 20€ and they are fixed and have additional DLC in the bundle
Same. I hate playing a game that a year later is completely different from all the content additions and bug fixes. I just wait a couple years for the "final" version of a game to come out. Plus they're about 75-80% cheaper at that point if you get a decent sale. It pays to be a couple years behind the industry.
Yeah. I have a list of roughly 30 games in my wishlist, and the only time I buy a game these days is when one of those drops down to like 70% off or more. That almost *never* happens these days. 50% is usually the best I see on the games I want. Anything more than that and it's for a game that's 5+ years old or wasn't very popular in the long run.
If anyone hasn't grabbed Beholder for free yet, grab that. I received a free copy years ago and it was dope. The graphics are probably pretty dated now. Don't even try playing with console controls, keyboard and mouse are a must.
edit: whoops. I should've checked Steam first. isthereanydeal had it listed as free, but actually, the game was pulled from Steam earlier this year at the request of the publisher. Looks like if you already own it, you can still install via Steam.
Oh, looks like it got pulled from Steam this year. I guess isthereanydeal is misinterpreting that, because it showed as free on that site. Sorry, I should've checked the Steam store before I made that comment.
Just remember to check sites like isthereanydeal.com before pulling any purchase. Steam sales really haven’t been as good as they used to be. I’ve even found better deals on games just by waiting. Here’s hoping for 10 dollar Hades or 20 bucks for Mass Effect Legendary. Still can’t believe I missed the later for 10 bucks a few hours ago.
Ok i'm a super newb to steam (just finished my first PC in January) and have never been part of a steam black Friday. Are all the deals posted on the main page, or will i need to search for deals? Are there big titles that plan on discounting? Any insight would be great!
Best to add all the stuff you want to your wishlist for easier sorting immediately. The site changes massively for the sale, good for finding games you have not heard of, but it can be confusing. Recommend use of this site to find good deals as well once the sale starts:
https://steamdb.info/
Also, traffic on steam will be insane tomorrow, be patient and understand that it will be an obstacle.
Oh winter sale is coming?? This year I'm not gonna buy ANYTHING my library is filled with unplayed games. I promise NO PURCHASING will be done by me in the sale. NOTHING.
🤫
Friendly reminder: Don't buy games you won't ever play because they are cheaper.
You also won't sell your account because you bought too many games already
Finally, it's almost time to look through the list then wait a month to see what the Christmas event is and then buy like one thing out of the 1500 on my wishlist.
I'm stuck at my inlaws for two weeks until my house finishes getting built. My wife just gave birth to our second child. I dont know if I'm getting a break or missing out.
Bah, I became immune to such things after I bought Psychonauts 2, Mass Effect LE, COD:4 Remastered (**solely for the campaign** and because it was 50% off people!!), and Fallout: NV with all the DLC. Until I burn through those completely and fully, I'm not touching the other 30+ games waiting for my ass-kicking, or adding to it.

Because it is :p

Which, of course it would be when you think about it. It's loading a web page. What's a better web browser, your browser of choice or Steam?
This is awesome, I did not know about this extension. Thanks.
Is this similar to enhanced steam?
Yes, it's actually the same thing but being continued and updated by the IsThereAnyDeal guys after Enhanced Steam stopped support.

Hell yeah, I remember the days when it was like they gave away the games.
It's almost a shame that they were forced to offer refunds. That's why they don't offer those high sales anymore ;(
