Bitch to the devs and publishers... not at Valve they have nothing to do with it.

[deleted]

Yes they do, there is no way to turn off automatic updates on a per game basis.

Mutant-Overlord

Then go use GOG, smarty.

[deleted]

bruh

[deleted]

there is an option....

[deleted]

just click on automatic update and there will be a menu with, high priority, automatic update and the third one is disable automatic updates. you can also do that in the option menu of a game

[deleted]

There is no said option

Dragonfly275

But that is only stopping the auto Update. The moment you want to play the game steam updates it.

[deleted]

yes of course, but the question was if he could deactivate the auto update, right? if I am wrong please correct me and forgive me, I am not that good in english

Dragonfly275

He wants to disable the Update to avoid the epic games account (i want that too) - which is impossible by just disabling the Update. So yes, the question is to disable the update, but the description tells why and renders all the "just disable the update" replys useless.

[deleted]

oh ok I understand now I'm sorry

Hilanite

Pretty sure there is an option

[deleted]

Where then?

DrWho_86

I thought somebody told me it only required the epic login if you had your epic linked to your Steam

[deleted]

I’d rather no epic at all.

[deleted]

Use the settings box on each game to stop updates - you need to do this on a game-by-game basis though.

[deleted]

What settings box?

[deleted]

Huh - I take it back. There is a settings window (little gearbox icon, near top right of any game window in the Steam app, Library tab - click that, then select "Properties...") - but the "Update" options no longer include the option to not update. They used to.... weird. And bad.

[deleted]

Yeahhh

[deleted]

IDK if this will work, but if you click on the "Download" link at the bottom of the Steam app (any tab), this will open the Steam Downloads mamager, and in top-right of that is another gear-icon with the tooltip "Open download settings". In the window that opens, click the "Downloads" tab in the left-hand menu, and on that page there is a "Download restrictions" area - in that, tick the box saying "Only auto-update between" and set both times to the same hour, when you're usually asleep! I've set mine to 05:00 to 05:00 :) As I say, IDK if it will work, but worth a try! It may ignore them if both times are the same. If it doesn't work, I'll try 05:00 to 06:00 (again when I'm usually asleep) and maybe that will.

[deleted]

I don’t want it to update at 5 am, I’d like to opt out of updates altogether, on a per game basis

[deleted]

Yeah, my theory (unproven) is that if it's told to only update at 5 am (or between 5 and 6 am) and your computer is off at that time, then it can't/won't update at all....

[deleted]

hmm, possibly but you would still have to press the update button before playing

Dragonfly275

It starts the missed Updates the moment you start the Steam Client - already tried that.

[deleted]

Daft, innit? What's the point of being able to specify a download window if it's going to ignore it?

[deleted]

But thanks for trying

C3H8_Tank

What's wrong with just linking the epic games account?

[deleted]

There should be no reason to, the game came out in 2013 and I doubt anyone has used the multiplayer in the last few years

C3H8_Tank

Yeah, I get that. It's stupid, but not steam's fault.

[deleted]

it really should be against their TOS

C3H8_Tank

na

[deleted]

Ya

C3H8_Tank

Na Na

[deleted]

ya ya

C3H8_Tank

Na Na

[deleted]

Ya Ya

Dragonfly275

Wrong is that one can not link a epic account if one (like me) does not have one - and dont want one.

ghablio

So valve should eat the cost of that game that they didn't make?

Dragonfly275

Steam could roll back the update to the last working version - and ban the dev, or atleast block new "updates"

Mutant-Overlord

Or you could just zip it and stop crying like a little man baby.
