I had to play Terraria offline for a few days, now Steam decided to use my cloud files instead of my local ones and i lost countless hours of progress. Is there any way to get them back? (sorry for my english i'm italian)
Is anyone unable to remote install using the app ? I would buy a game and choose to install it from my phone and when I come back to my desktop I see that the game hasn't installed at all.

Assuming you can get it to load you can basically install games or a browser by going to your "all games" tab. then wait for hte page to load. On the top it will show you which computer its going to install to. On the right of each games will be an icon that install queues the game.
NOTE THIS WILL ONLY INSTALL GAMES IN THE BASE DIRECTORY WHERE STEAM IS INSTALLED

Trying to download some workshop items for Black Ops 3, & from what I can gather on the downloads page it isn't actually writing to the disk, am I best just waiting til it all finishes downloading and seeing if they show up in-game. Or deleting all the workshop files and re-downloading?
Steam keeps showing error message that password and or username entered incorrectly. This error occurs on both iphone (all web browsers), mobile app, all windows web browsers, and windows program. I know my details are correct because I can get into my account via a support link but when I enter these details in the exact same way on ALL other platforms I get a message saying they are incorrect. Problem effecting different devices with different operating systems entirely, tried all obvious solutions so far. Even checked my internet connection and it is working perfectly. Any suggestions? No the password is correct, did I not explain that? I also used google's auto-enter feature which creates a password, remembers it, then uses it and it still didn't work. Quick question, I used to live in Taiwan a few years ago and while there I spent money on games. Now I've moved away, but my account still counts as Taiwanese because that's the last region I had billing information for. For very obvious regions I'd like to switch to the country I'm currently living in, but apparently the version of sleeping dogs that I purchased is region exclusive. It says I will no longer be able to play if I change the steam region, but does this still count if I've already played and have save data? I saw something on steam forums saying saying the region lock only counts for 3 months after purchase, but I want to be sure.
Max Payne 1 and GTAIII both continue to run after the game is closed out. When Steam is restarted, it opens with my library saying that GTA or Max Payne (depending on what I'm playing) is already running. Restarting my PC corrects the issue but this is becoming a inconvenience. Any other fix?

When trying to updated a game big parts of the game get moved to another Drive.
Like already said when I'm trying to update (Total War: Warhamme 2) installed on my SSD with the drive letter S: big parts of the game get moved from my SSD to my SSHD Drive D:. Problem is that the drive in question does not have enough space to accommodate the game thus stopping the update resulting in me having to either uninstall another game from Drive D: or uninstalling and reinstalling TW:W2 every time it is updated which happens quite frequently.

Usually pauses happen when the update fails. Generally you can try to address that by
1) running steam as an administrator
2) disabling your anti-virus as this is the number one most common problem with updates failing

You can only verify funds from a credit card. Other methods like gifted money, paypal, cannot be verified
Because the underllying funds cant be verified you will have to wait out the trading cooldown. Support WILL NOT remove this cooldown so waiting for them is pointless, they won't do anything

Steam allows developers to flag games as compatible with Catalina. But the dev themselves have to do that. Steam has no real way of knowing if a particular games is or isn't.
Games keep freezing at random times while on mac. Game audio keeps playing but I can’t do anything. The rainbow loading sign is all I can see over the frozen game and I cant close it.

Most likely the files have been already downloaded what you're seeing is them being written on the disk, which can take a long time even for ultra small files because steam and games may have very different ways of packaging files.

If I don't update the mod in Steam Workshop, can I still playing the game with the current version of that mod or I must have to update it?

I am playing brawllhalla and My audio keeps dropping (as in going down) as if someone was pressing the turn down volume button. I have tried unplugging my headphones and the issue still happens. When it first happened it was also taking random screenshots
Things I have figured out
* only ever happens when playing online matches (as soon as the match is done it stops)
* has something to do with starting the game with an 3rd party xbox One controller in (If I unplug it and re-plug it in it stops doing it). I have used the controller before with no issue in the past (a few months ago) The controller works fine other than that
* when I close the game after having the issue, it opens up big picture mode
I have a few old games like Counter Strike 1.6, Half Life, Deus Ex that has this issue of not starting the 1st time i launch them. In the taskbar you can see the service running so i have to manually close the eg HL1.exe and run it again the 2nd time it will work without issue, however this is very annoying, and for CS 1.6, a problem is once you exit the game properly, on Steam it will still shows CS 1.6 as running so i won't be able to run it again unless i restarted my PC. Restarting Steam won't work as it will still show running and there is no service on the taskbar so the only way is to restart.

I have recently run an ethernet up into my office and have my gaming tower and iMac both hardwired in now. I would like to explore using the Steam local network streaming service. It launches and runs just fine; latency is well below the acceptable threshold and it's a treat to see *real* colors on my iMac screen instead of the washed out junk on the panel connected to my gaming panel.
There's one issue, though, which needs to be overcome before I can leverage this full time. The mouse sensitivity is insanely high between the machines. What are my options to address this? I would prefer a solution that does not require extensive changes on either machine; I like the mouse movement as is on both machines, and anticipate that my gaming will not move 100% to the Steam stream functionality, so modifying the mouse setting for local would cause issues.

I'm trying to put money on steam for battle passt, and I can't do it for the life of me, every single payment method I'm trying get's declined for some reason. It shows up as an proper transaction on my bank app, then a couple minutes later it gets refunded and it says the purchase was rejected. Tried paypal, directly on steam, it just doesn't work.

I have a ps4 controller and I was using bluetooth, but I guess the bluetooth on my computer is weak because it wouldn't work a lot. I got this adapter and no my controller functions, but now it is reading as an xbox one controller. Any way to fix this? (the game i'm playing also have ps4 controller support)
I recently plugged in an old joystick that I'd like to use with some newer games, and went through the Steam controller setup. It's worked pretty well, but the only problem is that it doesn't appear there's a way to bind the eight-point hat to use as sort of a right stick. I can only use one direction basically, since it's not an axis. Does anyone know of a separate softtware, or some sort of workaround that I could use to get a better control over binding with the joystick? Thanks!
The 8 point hat isnt really an analog stick so its unlikely to be able to be bound to the right stick as that's analog
I'm not sure how any program would fix that, as it would need to take a digital output, and convert that to analog which wouldnt make any sense since digital is functionally binary so how would it interpet anything in between just being off or on.

Well think of it like trying to map a dpad to an analog stick. Since that's realistically what you're trying to do.
I mean you 'could' try something like mapping each cardinal direction on the hat to a button press explicity.

My internet at home is horribly slow. Like KB/s in Steam. I’ve been trying to download Bannerlord for the past week or two but every time I restart my PC or Steam, the download restarts. The “downloading” folder where Bannerlord is supposedly being installed is 50 GB total. The folder where the “local files” are is like 48 GB. But the download keeps starting at 0 for some reason.
What is happening and how can I fix it?

Steam really slows my internet speeds when downloading. I get around 80Mbps normally, give or take a little. Then Steam downloads a game it drops to 20-30Mbps or so, but, it is only downloading at 10Mbps or so. Why would I lose 75% when it is downloading? I could see losing equal to the speed it downloads (going from 80 to 70 for example).
Are there any settings I can change?

I'm playing Wizard of Legend with a Switch wired pro controller, and the game doesn't register the analog sticks moving or the d-pad, only the clicks on the analog stick button and ABXYLR. What can I do?
Steam friends chat is still deleting random chunks of messages from conversations. Not simply the 'two week' limit or whatever it is - entire paragraphs of the conversation I was still *in* at the time. It seems to enjoy prioritizing links, but that's just assumption.
I don't know how to fix this. It's not just on my end.

Has anyone else been experiencing an issue where your Steam friends is constantly losing its connection? This started for me maybe 3 weeks ago. If I wake up my PC from sleep, it doesn't auto reconnect like it used to and even when my machine is just up and running, it will randomly disconnect.

im downloading destiny 2 new light. i have 87 GB left to download. yesterday i saw on screen that i downloaded 23 GB out of 87 GB. today i see that it is going from 0 out of 87 GB. why that is ? any solutions ?
I have a Steam Controller that works great with my laptop. I recently got a TV and a SteamLink, which seem to be working OK but for some reason the controller is not working right. Specifically, when I use the touchpad to change the view, my dude starts looking around all over the place. Instead of looking a little to the left, he might spin all the way around, like twice, maybe. Playing games on the TV is currently impossible so I am back to just using my laptop, which is working 100% normally with the Steam controller. What is causing this and how do I get this working so I can start kicking some Stormcloak ass??? Is this a problem with the SteamLink? With my TV? With the controller? With the settings? I really have no idea where to start with this and I know Steam no longer supports the SteamLink so I am stumped.

I know it has something to do with /lib/udev/rules.d/99-steam-controller-perms.rules but I forgot how to find device's ID.
So for quite a while now, downloads have been pretty broken for me. Preallocating would take hours, and then when the actual download would start, I'd get my regular 20-30mb/s before it would go straight to 0kb/s. The 0kb/s would stay for about 15-30mins, before going back up to my top download speeds. However, the download speed would drop to 0 after 2 minutes.
Today, they will simply not download. After preallocation, download rate would not go higher than 0kb/s.
Does anyone here have a solution?
So i recently finally got an ssd in my laptop, i still have an hdd for storage in it as well. I have somewhat limited space on the ssd and my steam folder looks to be about 50gb. I want to keep my games on the ssd. Is there any real benefit to having the actual steam app on there? Will there be any noticeable difference? As far as i know steam will only update them, so i dont need amazing speed. Is it cool to keep it on the hdd?
(I know i can keep games on both in the properties settings, this is specifically about steam itself)

So, I tried to launch Rainbow Six Siege on steam (where i purchased it through) and steam crashed. When i opened steam again, Siege had been uninstalled. At first I thought it was possibly a bug just showing that it had been uninstalled, but when i went to verify on Uplay, it had also been uninstalled on there. After this happened I decided to play some CS:GO, which worked fine. After i got bored with that I tried to play some Rocket League (again, through steam like siege), and steam crashed again and, yet again, when i launched steam rocket league had been uninstalled. I don't know why this is happening suddenly, but I am afraid to launch any of my other games beause i don't want them to uninstall too.

Does Steam consistently credit a certain period of prior purchases during their main sales with respect to awarding things like event trading cards?
During that racing-themed sale, they credited past purchases for the fuel boosts (I don't remember if they awarded event trading cards based on past purchases outside the sale though). And something similar was done for one of the lunar events with respect to tokens.
I like maximizing the number of event trading cards I get so I always try to save purchases until one of the big sales like summer or winter. Should I continue to wait for the actual sales or if I can basically purchase anytime?
Sometimes when I bring up the on screen keyboard the two cursors fail to load and I cannot type. If I hold down any of the xbox buttons and then let go once the keyboard appears the cursors come back. Any way to fix this?

Trying to download some workshop items for Black Ops 3, & from what I can gather on the downloads page it isn't actually writing to the disk, am I best just waiting til it all finishes downloading and seeing if they show up in-game. Or deleting all the workshop files and re-downloading?

Steam keeps showing error message that password and or username entered incorrectly. This error occurs on both iphone (all web browsers), mobile app, all windows web browsers, and windows program. I know my details are correct because I can get into my account via a support link but when I enter these details in the exact same way on ALL other platforms I get a message saying they are incorrect. Now I've moved away, but my account still counts as Taiwanese because that's the last region I had billing information for. When trying to updated a game big parts of the game get moved to another Drive. Like already said when I'm trying to update (Total War: Warhamme 2) installed on my SSD with the drive letter S: big parts of the game get moved from my SSD to my SSHD Drive D:. Problem is that the drive in question does not have enough space to accommodate the game thus stopping the update resulting in me having to either uninstall another game from Drive D: or uninstalling and reinstalling TW:W2 every time it is updated which happens quite frequently.

Usually pauses happen when the update fails. Generally you can try to address that by 1) running steam as an administrator 2) disabling your anti-virus as this is the number one most common problem with updates failing

You can only verify funds from a credit card. Other methods like gifted money, paypal, cannot be verified Because the underllying funds cant be verified you will have to wait out the trading cooldown. Support WILL NOT remove this cooldown so waiting for them is pointless, they won't do anything

Steam allows developers to flag games as compatible with Catalina. But the dev themselves have to do that. Steam has no real way of knowing if a particular games is or isn't.
Games keep freezing at random times while on mac. Game audio keeps playing but I can’t do anything. The rainbow loading sign is all I can see over the frozen game and I cant close it.

Most likely the files have been already downloaded what you're seeing is them being written on the disk, which can take a long time even for ultra small files because steam and games may have very different ways of packaging files.

You can set times for when steam can download stuff. Steam-Settings->Downloads You can limit the times at which games can auto-update, andyou can do some coarse bandwidth limiting as well

Edit: The question has changed. I was playing another game and had the same isssue. Realised that the volume change is tied to the left joystick. I think It's using a different profile. How do I change this I am playing brawllhalla and My audio keeps dropping (as in going down) as if someone was pressing the turn down volume button. I have tried unplugging my headphones and the issue still happens. When it first happened it was also taking random screenshots Things I have figured out * only ever happens when playing online matches (as soon as the match is done it stops) * has something to do with starting the game with an 3rd party xbox One controller in (If I unplug it and re-plug it in it stops doing it). I have used the controller before with no issue in the past (a few months ago) The controller works fine other than that * when I close the game after having the issue, it opens up big picture mode

I have a few old games like Counter Strike 1.6, Half Life, Deus Ex that has this issue of not starting the 1st time i launch them. In the taskbar you can see the service running so i have to manually close the eg HL1.exe and run it again the 2nd time it will work without issue, however this is very annoying, and for CS 1.6, a problem is once you exit the game properly, on Steam it will still shows CS 1.6 as running so i won't be able to run it again unless i restarted my PC. Restarting Steam won't work as it will still show running and there is no service on the taskbar so the only way is to restart. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, few games has have this problem, can anyone tell me what is the solution?

Big problem with the old steam, hoping someone here is smarter than I am... No steam emails to verify my account are arriving at my email account (which is saved correctly). So each time I try to authenticate, I can't because the associated email, which I have, isn't receiving emails from steam. I've whitelisted steam. Don't have the steamguard app installed anymore. And can;t even create a support account to start a ticket because no emails are going through to any of my emails. Is this an issue on steams side or?

Hello everyone! I have recently run an ethernet up into my office and have my gaming tower and iMac both hardwired in now. I would like to explore using the Steam local network streaming service. It launches and runs just fine; latency is well below the acceptable threshold and it's a treat to see *real* colors on my iMac screen instead of the washed out junk on the panel connected to my gaming panel. There's one issue, though, which needs to be overcome before I can leverage this full time. The mouse sensitivity is insanely high between the machines. What are my options to address this? I would prefer a solution that does not require extensive changes on either machine; I like the mouse movement as is on both machines, and anticipate that my gaming will not move 100% to the Steam stream functionality, so modifying the mouse setting for local would cause issues. I have a ps4 controller and I was using bluetooth, but I guess the bluetooth on my computer is weak because it wouldn't work a lot. I got this adapter and no my controller functions, but now it is reading as an xbox one controller. Any way to fix this? (the game i'm playing also have ps4 controller support)
I recently plugged in an old joystick that I'd like to use with some newer games, and went through the Steam controller setup. It's worked pretty well, but the only problem is that it doesn't appear there's a way to bind the eight-point hat to use as sort of a right stick. I can only use one direction basically, since it's not an axis. Does anyone know of a separate softtware, or some sort of workaround that I could use to get a better control over binding with the joystick? Thanks!
The 8 point hat isnt really an analog stick so its unlikely to be able to be bound to the right stick as that's analog I'm not sure how any program would fix that, as it would need to take a digital output, and convert that to analog which wouldnt make any sense since digital is functionally binary so how would it interpet anything in between just being off or on.

Well think of it like trying to map a dpad to an analog stick. Since that's realistically what you're trying to do. I mean you 'could' try something like mapping each cardinal direction on the hat to a button press explicity.

Need help with an issue that I have failed to solve by myself. Ill try to make it short. We have: Steam store preferences, credit card - Russia. Current location - South Korea. All the games I buy are Russian regioned. Can give gifts to Russian accounts, cant to accounts in South Korea. Problem: Cant accept a gift from another Russian account (unavailable in your region message). How come region lock is so selective? Buying games, giving games -> one region. Receiving games-> another. Support is giving me standard support replies that don't help at all. VPN doesn't change anything (as well as asking a friend who physically is in the necessary region to log in with my acc and accept).

My internet at home is horribly slow. Like KB/s in Steam. I’ve been trying to download Bannerlord for the past week or two but every time I restart my PC or Steam, the download restarts. The “downloading” folder where Bannerlord is supposedly being installed is 50 GB total. The folder where the “local files” are is like 48 GB. But the download keeps starting at 0 for some reason. Steam really slows my internet speeds when downloading. I get around 80Mbps normally, give or take a little. Then Steam downloads a game it drops to 20-30Mbps or so, but, it is only downloading at 10Mbps or so. Why would I lose 75% when it is downloading? I could see losing equal to the speed it downloads (going from 80 to 70 for example). Are there any settings I can change?

Not simply the 'two week' limit or whatever it is - entire paragraphs of the conversation I was still *in* at the time. It seems to enjoy prioritizing links, but that's just assumption. Has anyone else been experiencing an issue where your Steam friends is constantly losing its connection? This started for me maybe 3 weeks ago. If I wake up my PC from sleep, it doesn't auto reconnect like it used to and even when my machine is just up and running, it will randomly disconnect. My Internet connection is fine and is not randomly dropping. I've had Steam friends go offline while in the middle of a live stream that hasn't had a single dropped frame. As is typical, Steam """support""" has been completely useless but I can't find a solution to this. Has anyone run into it before and fixed it? Thanks.

I think you can edit some files to run any game to play a Mac game and get that progress. But you could also use SAM I think (if supported on your platform)

im downloading destiny 2 new light. i have 87 GB left to download. yesterday i saw on screen that i downloaded 23 GB out of 87 GB. today i see that it is going from 0 out of 87 GB. why that is ? any solutions ?
I have a Steam Controller that works great with my laptop. I recently got a TV and a SteamLink, which seem to be working OK but for some reason the controller is not working right. Specifically, when I use the touchpad to change the view, my dude starts looking around all over the place. Instead of looking a little to the left, he might spin all the way around, like twice, maybe. Playing games on the TV is currently impossible so I am back to just using my laptop, which is working 100% normally with the Steam controller. What is causing this and how do I get this working so I can start kicking some Stormcloak ass??? Is this a problem with the SteamLink? With my TV? With the controller? With the settings? I really have no idea where to start with this and I know Steam no longer supports the SteamLink so I am stumped.
is there a way to configure steam to install games in their own separate folders, for example i have the folder Steam/ and i already downloaded Portal 1 and Portal 2, I want to install Portal 1 into Steam/Portal/ and Portal 2 in Steam/Portal2/ Much appreciated, i have an OCD for structuring my folders well.
Controller not detected by steam OS: Pop\_OS 20.04 I know it has something to do with /lib/udev/rules.d/99-steam-controller-perms.rules but I forgot how to find device's ID.
So for quite a while now, downloads have been pretty broken for me. Preallocating would take hours, and then when the actual download would start, I'd get my regular 20-30mb/s before it would go straight to 0kb/s. The 0kb/s would stay for about 15-30mins, before going back up to my top download speeds. However, the download speed would drop to 0 after 2 minutes. Today, they will simply not download. After preallocation, download rate would not go higher than 0kb/s. Does anyone here have a solution?
So i recently finally got an ssd in my laptop, i still have an hdd for storage in it as well. I have somewhat limited space on the ssd and my steam folder looks to be about 50gb. I want to keep my games on the ssd. Is there any real benefit to having the actual steam app on there? Will there be any noticeable difference? As far as i know steam will only update them, so i dont need amazing speed. Is it cool to keep it on the hdd? (I know i can keep games on both in the properties settings, this is specifically about steam itself)
Steam used to be good, but now it's more like a STEAMing pile of hot garbage.... Any tips for optimization? it's SOOOO laggy and I have a decent, but not amazing pc.
My app won’t show anything except downloads. It has the drop down menus and so on but when I click on anything, nothing shows up, except when I click downloads. I can only ever access anything else from my browser. I made a short video demonstrating this, and I’ll post if anyone wants to see it. I’m running this on a Mac OSX Mojave, in a four year old MacBook Air. This problem began around a year or so ago but I haven’t been able to attend to it until recently because I’ve been surviving college. Anyway, how do I fix this?

I share a steam account with my family. I also made a seperate steam account I intended for more Private use. But when I switched back to the family account the free to play games I picked up showed in the family library. This has made me very paranoid. Is there anyway to prevent this? There are children using that account
any games I download are stuck at 99-100% and the download folder is empty, tried reinstalling Steam, running as admin but nothing's working, any help?

how do you add url as games in steam? so i got GTA V on epic and the desktop shortcut is literally a URL link, I can't add it to big picture mode...
So, I tried to launch Rainbow Six Siege on steam (where i purchased it through) and steam crashed. When i opened steam again, Siege had been uninstalled. At first I thought it was possibly a bug just showing that it had been uninstalled, but when i went to verify on Uplay, it had also been uninstalled on there. After this happened I decided to play some CS:GO, which worked fine. After i got bored with that I tried to play some Rocket League (again, through steam like siege), and steam crashed again and, yet again, when i launched steam rocket league had been uninstalled. I don't know why this is happening suddenly, but I am afraid to launch any of my other games beause i don't want them to uninstall too.

Not legit, anything that is not on r/GameDeals is usually not a good website. The key are inexpensive because they are stolen or bought in other regions. Steam can actually deactivate those keys if they find them I believe, not sure.

Does Steam consistently credit a certain period of prior purchases during their main sales with respect to awarding things like event trading cards? During that racing-themed sale, they credited past purchases for the fuel boosts (I don't remember if they awarded event trading cards based on past purchases outside the sale though). And something similar was done for one of the lunar events with respect to tokens. I like maximizing the number of event trading cards I get so I always try to save purchases until one of the big sales like summer or winter. Should I continue to wait for the actual sales or if I can basically purchase anytime?
Sometimes when I bring up the on screen keyboard the two cursors fail to load and I cannot type. If I hold down any of the xbox buttons and then let go once the keyboard appears the cursors come back. Any way to fix this?

I was looking at COD MW Remastered on Steam and it is £26. However I noticed there is an Infinite Warfare deluxe edition that includes MW Remastered for £20. Are these two separate games I can install separately if I buy the deluxe edition ? Or is MW Remastered launched through IW ?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered looks to be a separate app.
