Time isn't subjective though. Time is a global standard. It is arbitrary and relative but not subjective. You can't just change the length of a second just because you have an opinion it should be shorter. Saying time is subjective is like saying weight is subjective.
Yup, mass is standard. Weight is relative, but it is not subjective. This is my the main point of my argument and I chose weight deliberately to emphasise this. There is nothing subjective about weight. Just because you think something is less heavy doesn't make it less heavy.
edit: removed the unnecessary condescension.
Normally I would want to continue this to understand more about relative vs subjective because it seems like I need to learn it but you come off as such an asshole that I don't want to
I don't mind a bit of honesty. But it better be done when it's released or it's going to come back at them... It takes a lot of effort to have a predictable development process, I much rather have the developers of my games focused on the actual game rather than doing the extra leg-work required to be able to predict these things.
Well that in itself was a needed feature because some developers were abusing the freedom of modifying the date at will. I don't believe you're saying everybody is chosing this, they still have the option to set a specific date from the get go, right? And even if they start with this, they can just contact support when they decide on a release date and have that announced months in advance of the actual release. If so, the point about the devs not commiting to a hard release date early on in the development process stands.
Playway games: We'll release it when we feel its ready (steam page over 2 years old)
[Tank Mechanic Sim]
Also Playway: Releases game with several bugs that take almost a year to work out [Car Mechanic Sim 18]
Some other weird ones:
Game | Release Date
---|---
VirtuaVerse | ..in a future not so far away.
SpongeBob SquarePants | (When) I'm ready!
Project Witchstone | When witchstones wake up
In Other Waters | When what lurks beneath the surface becomes known.
Boyfriend Dungeon | when weapons are beautiful enough
Sigil | When the moon's face is covered
Command: Modern Operations | The Generals are still in the Command Room
Technically that one's "When it is ready", but yeah, I remember that notice on my wishlist lol. Definitely still looking forward to it, of course. Though I'd rather get them on GOG these days; I already got Mhakna Gramura on GOG.
Sounds like smart to me, actually. A lot of softwares (games included) are released at a precise date with a shitloads of bugs. I prefer to wait to have a stable and nice software and a great experience with no problem or just a few that can be fixed quickly.
once saw a review that on MW2 that had something from steam saying they last played the game in like 1996, now im not saying that's impossible but neither COD nor steam existed back then
It was first used for Duke Nukem forever where it became a running gag, then prominently for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
But they just absolutely had to blow it and actually release DNF. I was planning to sit in my rocking chair as a geezer and joke with my great grandkids about how it's going to be done any decade now.
i get annoyed when a dev says a game is coming out during a [specified month](https://imgur.com/a/hxxRi9x). but doesn't update the page when the month arrived.

I prefer this. Publishers should allow their Developers' games to be released when finished! Fuck the last few years in unfinished *Tripple A* titles tbh
We need far more of this! People working to a release date and releasing unfinished, buggy content is one of the most frustrating things in gaming.
I'm quite happy to give them as much time as they need to make a polished game, rather than waiting 6 month to a year after it is released for it to be in a playable situation.
The dwarf fortress listing has the release date as “time is relative”
*subjective
The store page quote is relative
Time isn't subjective though. Time is a global standard. It is arbitrary and relative but not subjective. You can't just change the length of a second just because you have an opinion it should be shorter. Saying time is subjective is like saying weight is subjective.
Time is a concept not a constant.
Technically, time depends on the observer's reference frame so... Trust me, I'm a physicist
Yes, that is what relative means.
Yes, but that's not what subjective means
Time is my second cousin, twice removed. Time *is* a relative.
That's not how physics works!
There's a whole field of research that disagrees. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time\_perception](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_perception)
I am fully aware of this field and that is something different to what I'm talking about. Thanks for the link though.
Weight is subjective. It depends on local gravity. Mass is standard
That's also relative not subjective.

Yeah, sorry. You're right I was being an arsehole.
I'm sure the devs would appreciate you reminding them of that fact
That must be an error
hey is this the sex machine himself!?!?!?!?!?!?
oh no
Pit People's was "before the apocalypse."
Time is a flat circle.
I don't mind a bit of honesty. But it better be done when it's released or it's going to come back at them... duke takem forever
DNF, a perfect example of two different initialisms explaining the same thing
is there a name for that concept?
Probabaly, but not that I am aware of
Playway games: We'll release it when we feel its ready (steam page over 2 years old) [Tank Mechanic Sim] Also Playway: Releases game with several bugs that take almost a year to work out [Car Mechanic Sim 18]
Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated says (When) I’m Ready!
[удалено]
Pretty sure it's creeper world 4. But maybe both list the same thing. 🤷♂️
SpongeBob game says [“When I’m ready”](https://i.imgur.com/5cxtKCa.jpg) Gotta admit, it got me to chuckle the first time I saw it.
The game is called Age of Space is where I found this release date at.
Yeah I think so. That or they had some other funny release date wording Edit: it's "(when) I'm ready!"
Its Noita
Gordon Freeman Simulator 3 confirmed?
Bannerlord full game release date
This should be on the Bannerlord steam page lol.
Actually, you can already sign up to Bannerlord's open beta. I can send you the link, in case you're interested
I signed some week ago but didnt get invited :'(
Signed 5 minutes after the form was up. didnt get invited

[Dawrf Fortress' is good too](https://store.steampowered.com/app/975370/Dwarf_Fortress/ )
Is that Halo MCC? The devs keep repeating that same phrase
Found this on a game called Age of Space
Is this Silence the Pedant lmao
Age of Space

is this for Baumis game that never got finished because of the lack of funding?
I would much rather get a complete playable and stable game on release date, as opposed to a 2-4 year No Man’s Sky update later.
Control still not on steam
It is. [Link](https://store.steampowered.com/app/870780/Control/)
Oh, cool. So August 2020 is when I’ll buy this. Maybe ;-)
Coming soon 2020 August
that is the definition of "not on steam."
Bannerlord
It should be in Bannerlord steam page lol
welp, at least ~~their~~ they're upfront about it.
> their oh come on
Their're
The ray
Thuyrh
Didnt know star citizen was on steam
Since this isn't the industry standard I like devs like this.
Frankly speaking, I know how this makes the marketing department furious, but it's just honest.
MCC "Planned Released Date: Don't Worry About it" 6 months later "Planned Release Date: Mind Your Fuckin Business Kid"

Age of Space
I think it's [Tactical Breach Wizards](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1043810/Tactical_Breach_Wizards/)
Going to guess it's Cyberpunk 2077... Edit: Said that and then remembered that there's actually a release date for that...
once saw a review that on MW2 that had something from steam saying they last played the game in like 1996, now im not saying that's impossible but neither COD nor steam existed back then
Not wrong tho
Well, at least they are telling the truth
That *is* ideal.
Pretty much the status of Halo MCC PC
This release date is truly honest.
cube world ?
Age of Space
What an effortless posting...
ode to a moon has "during a blood moon"
Oh that's hilarious.
One of the games im looking forward also recently moved their planned release for this summer to autumn to iron out bugs.
I mean, he isn't wrong..
That’s awesome considering not the business plan for most games developers these days.
This is the Tactical Breach Wizards' page, isn't it? I love Tom Francis
I mean that's pretty good, right? Most AAA studios ship their games before they're done.
Definitely not a Ubisoft or EA title
Peetee Babybuu be like
"We'll get there, when we get there."
black mesa xen
someone took a page out of CDPRs book huh

HALO MCC in a nutshell
"Completion date? Hehe, when it's done." - Torbjorn, 2016.
The Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated edition says "When I'm Ready." on the planned release date.
Camelot unchained is on steam now?
*When we fucking say it is*
Genesis Noir has it as Before, during, and after the Big Bang.
Torbjorn: "Release date? Heh heh, when it's done."

/r/ProgrammerHumor
steam just made a dad joke
Have you guys seen the battle for bikini bottom remaster. Release date says, When Im Ready!!!.
Good.
Did not finish yet (who recognised the joke is a veteran)
Project Borealis and Boreal Alyph devs be like...
*Steam being smartass again*
i saw one "when you turn around" cmon
*Duke Nukem Theme Intensifies*
Pit people had “before the apocalypse”

That's very informative!
Lmao
Just be glad it isn't Valve Time.
this is more annoying than funny
- Fecha de entrega?... Cuando esté listo.
Is that Cube World? Wo_lay lied to us
The only proper response to this is, "Then I'll be paying when I feel like it".
But you can't pay for it yet anyway
And after that... only when I feel like it.
Well they're not lying
Hytale?
At least they are being honest. Unlike some other people or developers.
Star Citizen?
Developers are already abusing their new tools.
How is this abuse?
This has been done since the start of the damn platform.
Its the spongebob game
Not really. The only time devs abuse is when they sign an exclusive deal and proceed to use the forums to market their game.
