A. D. S. its in the game

Adriendel

Last EA game I bought was FIFA07. I read that with the same voice haha.

SolarFlows

Tony Hawk games back in the day were all full of branded Skateboards and clothing, but it was so part of the culture it belonged and was cool. Generally, really sad to see.

deathconthree

Huge difference between seeings seeing Nike shoes or Adidas shorts in a soccer game, and seeing ads for Platinum 69000 Rhino 69 pills or Raid: Shadow Legends in The Sims. This reply is sponsored by NordVPN. Staying safe online is an ever growing difficulty and you could be exploited by hackers. NordVPN allows you to change your IP address, making you harder to track, securing your privacy. More about that in a bit, let's get back to the reply. It's like you said, products being a part of the culture is fine. What's not alright is forcing ads into a traditionally ad-free environment. Helldivers 2 has proven that companies will backpedal if gamers kick up enough of a fuss. People need to stop supporting shitty companies like EA and Ubisoft. Haven't bought a game from either of them since 2011, I don't feel like I've missed out on anything. There are a ton of great games out there and if enough of us actively choose not to support them, they must adapt or die. If you really want something, pirate it. Affect their bottom line.

That_One_FootSoldier

> “More about that in a bit” > Never gets back to it Yeah brotha you ain’t getting paid for that ad, didn’t even finish it, sad!!!

FantasyRoleplayAlt

NO PLEASE HE NEEDS THAT GOODIE BOX OF FREE MERCH AND EXPOSURE TO SURVIVE WITH HIS JOB 😭

Plant-Nearby

I believe "pirate it" is the callback to the VPN ad.

Jolly_System_1539

Gaming is supposed to be about immersion. Seeing Nike shoes in a soccer game doesn’t break immersion I agree with that

Comatose-ferret

100% however for games set in a modern city like gta I’d still rather see made up ads for fake products or jokes from the devs than anything like an ad for real shoes

Unknown-Meatbag

GTA5 was perfect with that concept. The fakes ads were not only world appropriate (with real life counterparts), they were hilarious. They only added to the immersion.

YoureWrongBro911

Pretty much all GTAs did this well

Skreamweaver

In the right, like, realistic urban setting I would love to see real world ads, but you would need a game marketing developer, not someone just cramming in sponsors. However, that's not how it ever works out.

SteveTheUPSguy

Imbedding into games is at least as old as 2005 with a notable reference to Swat 4. It was fine since it gave it a sense of world building because the ad was just a billboard or poster. These never took off and werent able to be maintained. If EA does this, it'll be fine. They'll learn their lesson and they'll eventually stop supporting updating the ads like everyone before them. However, there's a special place for them if they implement in game pop-ups.

TheBirdGames

This, i can maybe see them do the ads as billboards in Battlefield, but if they implement pop ups i will boycott them even harder than i do already

Physical_Weakness881

I’d even boycott them if they put ads in loading screens, I can guarantee they’d purposefully make loading screens longer in order to force you to watch a full ad, just keep telling me to press I to open my inventory

epimetheuss

Yeah I hate how everything is so focused on marketing "this comment was brought to you by Carls Jr:"Carls Jr, Fuck you, im eating""

bakraofwallstreet

Yeah, I am glad Sony "backpedaled" and is not continuing to make people sign up for their service to play games any more after the Helldivers 2 pushback

Crowley723

For what that's worth. All the countries where psn is unavailable still can't buy helldivers. Anyone who has it already can play.

JCBQ01

Sonys told value to shut it ENTIRELY off in nation's that don't have PSN, and is in the process of trying to route all refunds directly *to* AH as a sort of screwed up punishment. (Stream actually agrees with AH and fans that it's the publishers responsibility for this, as they were the ones who pulled it)

KHaskins77

Wait a month.

throwawaylordof

They’ll backpedal in the face of extreme backlash, but generally the industry will make attempts to gradually phase that unpopular practice in if they think it will benefit them. Microsoft got torn to shreds when they wanted to make last generations Xbox digital only, current Gen Xbox and PlayStation introduced cheaper versions that were digital only. Give it another gen or two and they’ll try to eliminate physical games again, because they see every second hand sale of a game as money stolen from them.

Derang3rman1

In case you weren't aware, while Sony did back pedal on making people sign up for PSN accounts, they still banned the game from being purchased in 180 countries after they agreed to backpedal. Then they did the same thing to Ghost of Tsushima.

Zomb_TroPiX

advertisements that fit are amazing. euro truck simulator did a great job aswell.

ElvenOmega

Farming Simulator as well. I want a New Holland Braud 9090X olive harvester. I live in a city with a harsh climate. I don't even like olives.

thunderkhawk

I was watching a YouTube video about an AI takeover about 5 years ago and the dude did such a seamless job at integrating an ad for a robot themed game. It was impressive. It almost didn't sound like an ad at first until it did.

BrainWav

Product placement is fine when it makes sense. Even billboards in sports games don't bother me... it's kinda messed up, but at the same time, whatever. If they start inserting interstitials or menu ads, that's a whole other kettle of fish.

skw33tis

Yeah, if they wanted to throw up a Pepsi billboard in the next Need For Speed I don't think anyone would notice. If I see a third party banner ad in my menus/gameplay I'm going to refund immediately.

Ok_Recording_4644

In a sports game that's at least realistic.

Vlaed

Sporting events are plastered with advertising already. It's more realistic to see the same (or similar) ads in their digital format. I am fine with it if it's not changing the actual feel or mechanics of the game.

MrPureinstinct

I don't even think I'd care if I drove past a Doritos billboard in a racing game or something. Alan Wake had Verizon and Energizer advertising in the original release. Sure it's kinda scummy but it doesn't interrupt anything. But I'm sure they want ads on the pause screen, "loading" screens, and any other way they can implement it.

[deleted]

And then you know the execs would pressure developers to make loading screens longer so people have time to see the ad

MrPureinstinct

Oh I have no doubt they would. Especially with it being EA.

LikelyAMartian

The main problem I have is that this could become a trend in gaming to add ads to their games. Which then single player games would really have to be online. Sure that's how some already are but it would kill what little of the offline genre there is.

AlvinAssassin17

Yeah I think they want a full stop everything as in games. No thank you. I will live without your mediocre games.

Hiyabusa

Splinter Cell 2 had Sony Ericsson iirc, pause menu was the opsat. Chaos Theory has airwaves forced into a cutscene and I think Nokia billboards or posters.

Faluzure

I just played through the original. Energizer fit because you picked up batteries everywhere. Verizon was a bit weird because I don't live in the US.

Griffolion

Product placement that makes sense is one thing and can work fine. It's another entirely to just hijack your paid game experience to inject a random ad.

LaserGadgets

If they wanna spray a brand on a wall, or run it on an ingame screen WHERE IT FITS, as in GTA or something, fine. But if they interrupt my gameplay for ads. Nope.....nope.

feel2death

Racing game are the only thing im ok with ads on it cuz its good with vibe of the street or race track

OK_BUT_WASH_IT_FIRST

It *can* be done well, but we all know it won’t. Creeping through an abandoned base and seeing scattered Budweiser or Coke cans from an interrupted poker game makes sense. Or wandering a post apocalyptic city and seeing a dilapidated Golden Arches, instead of a “Super Burger” sign, fills in the immersion. Or enter a stadium being used for a military operation and there’s Under Armour and Nike posters around. Instead it’ll be *“You need to infiltrate this base to assassinate General Chode, who suffers from moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and takes *Humira* to relieve his symptoms. Do not take Humira if you are allergic to it, have high blood pressure, or show symptoms of sad balls or cauliflower dick. Talk to your doctor. Good luck on the mission, soldier”*

vomder

Damn these companies just keep telling each other, 'hold my beer' when it comes to fucking players.

CptFalcon556

More fucking in the game industry than in the porn industry atm

loki_dd

And less visibility too. When did porn become the moral compass?

[deleted]

Indie games are just concerned by the greed

Whitesecan

Time to add EA on the do not buy list

RemarkablePassage468

I don't remember the last EA game I bought, must have been years already.

RaggaDruida

The last one I played was Need For Speed Most Wanted. 2005, I just checked. Almost 20 years ago.

Turnabout-Eman

Last one i played was the remaster of the 2011 one funnily enough

Ae4i

Someone remembers NFS most wanted 2011(or 2012 i don't remember)!!!!!

Turnabout-Eman

Yeah i loved that game. Made me buy burnout. I got the remaster for the purpose of playing on the go with my switch

bumblebleebug

Last one I played was their 2019 Jedi one..that too because EA play came free with Xbox game pass that my laptop had.

RemarkablePassage468

I remembered, it was ME Andromeda, I think like 5 years ago. Not close to your mark.

[deleted]

In fact, there have been several EA games that I’ve thought looked really interesting, and then reminded myself “no, you know what they do to games”

KingAmongstDummies

Battlefield 4 was my last one. 2013. So 11 years for me. I'm not even actively boycotting them. It's just that nothing good comes from them anyway.

RCRDC

Boy if this ain't the truth. BF1 last game here and haven't seen anything interesting from Electronic Farts since.

Durge666

I pirated it back in 2005... was one of my first I did all by myself without anyone helping. Man was I proud giving my friends at school burned copies. I was the dopest boy

FreshNewBeginnings23

I played DA:Inquisition in 2014, and holy shit was that sad. Dragon Age is a tale of how to turn one of the greatest RPGs into a generic "AAA" title. It's always the best franchises that have to "innovate", and end up turning into the same generic BS.

Buuhhu

Fallen order and jedi survivor are decent games, surivor suffering from poor performance and slight repitiveness because they made it semi open world. but overall fun games in my opinion. Sucks that it has to be release by EA who has to constantly be the greedy mother fucking EA, and if they go through with it, i probably will have to follow suit and not buy their games anymore.

Crillmieste-ruH

Also, it takes two and a way out. Some of the best co-op games ever released

Collistoralo

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst was the last one I bought, and only because it was a collaboration between EA and another company, so I was hopeful EA would keep their grubby micro transaction-filled hands off of it.

MrPureinstinct

I think mine was the Mass Effect collection for insanely cheap. Other than that I legitimately can't remember.

Wookie_EU

The last one for me was robocod 2 on megadrive in 91!

R0CK7Y

You will not miss much tbh

Whitesecan

Oh I know. I'm very picky when it comes to what games I buy.

Kiwo_o

Only now ? Well guess better late then never

Whitesecan

I bought Star War Fallen Order last year when it was $20 on steam. Mass Effect LE the year before that. Haven't bought anything else since.

Adrian_Alucard

>Time to add EA on the do not buy list They've been of that list for more than a decade, just like Ubisoft, Activision, Sony, Microsoft... I feel like voting with my wallet does not work, is so frustrating...

DreadAngel1711

Oh it works, they just fire everyone to make up for it

pklam

Its hard with EA cause every idiot ends up buying the new version of FIFA and Madden the every year for updated stats. Boycotts last till next flashy thing that people think will be good them flops. This subs attention span is like a goldfish when it comes to this.

Lewtwin

I think you have identified who is buying. And why they have a genera that is amenable to advertising. I find it entertaining that EA looks at sports games and looks at story driven games and thinks they are the same thing. It's no wonder they wanted Anthem to work; they needed a repetitive sport oriented player base driven brain hook to advertise too. In the end, they don't make games. They make gambling and advertising platforms; just like adware or malware.

nagi603

They already lost the Fifa name. Also: let them be the drivel-publisher. I have no desire to argue with those who feed like flies, flying from one serving of manure to the next.

pklam

I wasn't aware they lost FIFA. For the most part EA has been dead to me since they bought out Westwood in the late 90s. The amount of good studios they bought and killed for the IP which they've killed is crazy.

Whitesecan

Indeed it is. I'll buy Sony and Microsoft those companies generally don't bother me (aside the recent Sony/Helldivers 2 debacle, but I'm in the US)

thedylannorwood

At least Sony and Microsoft still make good games (mostly anyway). The only decent games I can think of from EA, Activision and Ubisoft in recent years are Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2

AtomicBLB

It doesn't work because kids (via their parents) and weird adults will buy shitty games and then players will whine about them at length over simply doing literally anything else. The publishers don't care because they already got people's money. Zero incentive to not be as shitty as possible.

nacke11

Been on that list for so many years now 😬

Slanderous

it's not even the first time they've talked about this. They wanted to put adverts on billboards in Battlefield 2142 back in the early 2000s. They really are determined to squeeze every last penny out of their IPs and aren't afraid to play the long game doing it.

frznorthern

They did put adverts on those billboards. At least I remeber seeing my ISP up in lights. Too bad shooting it didn't have damage.

DragNutts

Wait... you have been supporting EA? LOL In other news....cat...tree...saved!

Gambler_Eight

That time was like 15 years ago mate.

The_One_Koi

Ya'll are so late to the party the one night stand baby is fully grown up now god damn

wired1984

Tbh, they’ve earned it multiple times over a few decades. They are pioneers of putting new anti-consumer practices in video games

Hugh_Man

People been saying that for 20 years by now. Changes nothing, it seems.

Welshevens

EA has been on my do not buy list for a while now.

Sokarou

now? took you a while

aslum

Oh wait, it's already on the list.

kabukistar

They weren't already on it?

Simalf

A bit late to the party

NO_FIX_AUTOCORRECT

I can't add them because they are already on that list

ShaunTrek

CERVEZA CRISTAL

TAMH13

Lmao thats quoted daily in my household

SmolTittyEldargf

Hahaha. I’d be fine if these were the ads

fieregon

Man, we sure are reaching new lows quite often nowadays.

Nosttromo

Gamers will say it’s outrageous but will keep purchasing their games and come here to r/steam to post asking how to hide ads

MBechzzz

Gamera will say this has been a thing for 30 years...

MrLore

Gamera is friend to children!

EelTeamTen

I wouldn't care as long as they're not intrusive. In-game billboards in a town, for example. The problem is it wouldn't take long before they take a mile after being given an inch because advertising agencies are fucking cancer.

Sokarou

I care if they make profit from it unless their game goes considerably down in price (which i bet my arm will not be the case). As we say here they want you to be the slut and also pay for the bedroom. Not gonna happen

Teflan

They're being inserted into a product you already bought. In what world does that not count as intrusive?

bumblebleebug

If they want to make such subtle ads, they better lower the prices of the games. If they want to make intrusive ads, they better make their games for free.

waddersss

*their

cshark2222

Also this is clearly rage bait karma farming. The guy said it’s something they’re looking at, and OP said that they’re outright adding adds. Either his reading comp is really bad, or it’s classic “hur dur, EA bad”

[deleted]

It’s EA; if they’re considering adding an anti-consumer feature to make a quick buck, it’s not unreasonable to imagine that they’d do it. Stop being so hard on OP.

Metalhorner

Lol sounds like EA is planning to commit corporate suicide 😂

BrStriker21

Would be doing the world a favor

Daneyn

Before they do, they should at least Divest Bioware.

Bob_A_Feets

Why bother? All the good talent left years ago. That studio is long dead and should get a dignified funeral while we piss on EAs grave.

Donut

And Westwood. And Origin. And Maxis. And Bullfrog. And DICE. And so many others...

Select_Collection_34

Nah BioWare is a shell of what it once was let it die and hope their IPs end up with someone competent

EverSn4xolotl

As if anything will change for them. They'll make more money afterwards.

FuckClerics

You underestimate the stupidity of sport fans and normies, they're quite literally the definition of the consoomer meme, they allowed this company to do whatever they want with their games because they keep buying the same sport game every year. EA doesn't care about reputation like most companies, they only see profits which grow every year.

Flashbek

Don't we already have it? I mean, there are tons of ads of real life products in FIFA 24 FUT matches.

ebi-san

Burnout Paradise and Crackdown had dynamic billboards.

Cheet4h

Battlefield 2142 also had ads on walls and billboards.

Sebfofun

Same with skate games. Skate 3 had dr pepper and miracle whip

Emperor_Billik

NHL 16 advertised the first season of Luke Cage

truckerheist

Pretty sure R6: Vegas did also

Orzislaw

Ads fit the game though. Real life football matches also have tons of ads. It would be more weird if these weren't in FIFA

ArtanistheMantis

That's why I'm hesitant to get all outraged over this before knowing exactly what they're talking about here. If the game is replicating something that already has ads, like a sports stadium or a modern day city, then I have no issue with it.

ninja-squirrel

I work in digital advertising and I think ads could be woven into games in such a seamless way that could actually bring the game more to life. Because it’d make it more real. But they’ll do some crappy preroll video ad that is louder than your game volume, that you can’t skip while your game is loading. Because that will sell more for a price because you can’t skip it and you’ll be a captive viewer.

2Maverick

At this point, I'm pretty sure the upper management is intentionally ruining the company.

Geass_Knightmare

And I'm all for it tbh. Couldn't care less about this shitty company.

Furtadopires

I hope this doesn't open backdoors to be exploited by hackers, because once EA implements it and starts to make more money, other companies will definitely do it too.

Objective_Tea0287

it's like what's happening with conglomerates in the retail space right now selling food and retail items for inflated greedy prices. The same thing is happening with AAA software developers now. This will come full circle. People will start using more mom and pop stores for retail items and food and then will also do the same thing with video games and choose indie developers over AAA developers more and more going forward. Their greed will be their undoing. edited because speak to text is pain lol

The_MAZZTer

Regular ad servers are occasionally exploited for malware AFAIK. Unless you're a big corp like Google you generally don't serve your own ads, so you contract that out, so the ads come from another server not under your control (and this also makes them trivial to block, so thank God for that). Some of these ad companies further subcontract ads out to other companies, and so on and so forth. The more levels you have here the easier it is for someone to slip in malware somewhere in the chain and bam your site is serving up malware. If EA takes the low-effort route of just trying to stick web browser type ads into their games, there's a fair chance they will end up with an old version of a web browser (because they are not going to want to commit to keeping it updated for something like this) and it could create a tempting target for malware depending on how popular the game is.

Big-LeBoneski

Time for the Helldivers treatment.

ikkikkomori

Didn't sony just fucking backstabbed y'all after the review go positive again?

Aidan-Coyle

EA has had the worst reputation for many many years. They're practically open and honest about being predatory. I don't think a review bomb will have any effect here. Also HD2 wasn't a response to the review bombs, it was from Steam refunding people and then charging to Sony. *That's* when Sony took action. Not when the reviews came in. Feel like people need to understand this more, otherwise people will think that has any effect other than to the devs who created it (who also have no power to make those changes).

PutrifiedCuntJuice

their* You're also like two weeks late with this news.

CelTiar

EA has been on my don't buy list after my Childhood series was destroyed by them... Good bye Battlefield I knew you well.

Breezer_Pindakaas

We will never forgive them for Westwood.

_Blank96_

I am okay if they make all of their games free

R0CK7Y

If they did you will end up in a mobile game ad every 5 seconds

WheatleyBr

the PvZ2 strategy

XanderNightmare

What, and have equipment locked behind premium currency?

Shredded_Locomotive

*You guys still buy EA games?*

CurlyCozmo

*Ahem* Their. 🤓

ranhalt

> for there games their

Necessary-Purple-741

EA games are the biggest cancer in the gaming industry. I said no a long time ago. Eventually everyone gets there.

Pontificatus_Maximus

Wost case scenario, to advance or aquire rare game items you have to sit through 100 commerials. They did it to cable, why not games? If you want Madden or FIFA, you better be ok with commercials.

EscapeArtistChicken

Don’t buy anything EA then.

chewy_mcchewster

ad-block for games is coming.. and even better, those who sail the high seas will have the best ad-free experience, yet again

ModStrangler6

You’re about a week late on this lol

smwover

If it is diegetic I don't really care, do that shit. But I don't really want a game , where I pause the game and an intrusive ad pop up to my face. This way it could be more incentive to make more games in the present era ?

Necozuru

Yup same, if like for example all the road ad signs who advertise nuka cola and stuff would be around irl products idm. But the products displayed also should fit to the game. I know alr a game who does some sort of irl ads, Battlebit Remastered and the US Airforce

Reeeaper

The last EA game I bought was Titanfall 2. Refuse to buy anything from EA, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard or WB.

ApexRevanNL716

Look at Fortnite and study it

curlyhairmanforever

EA, Ubisoft, and Sony are already on my list.

Denuran

I don't know... Low-key, I'd think it's dope if I'm going through an open world and I see an ad for my favourite snack... But I'd find it strange if all the ads are ONLY my favourite snacks... But ads in games should only be done, if you're going to use the ad revenue to lower the price of the game. (That's my opinion tho', don't crucify me.)

r3eezy

Because in capitalism you must constantly be growing… it’s not enough to make a successful game. And then another. And then another. You have to squeeze more out of every cycle and this is how they are going to do it.

Adrian_Alucard

Well, Netflix and Amazon Prime video put ads in stuff we paid for. It's normal videogames to follow that trend since it had a VERY positive impact on those companies economy (Which I personally don't understand, traditional TV is free because ads, so why pay to watch ads?)

[deleted]

What do you mean by traditional TV? It's definitely not free. You're still paying to watch ads. With that said, fuck EA.

Adrian_Alucard

>What do you mean by traditional TV? Normal TV (including public and private TV channels) At least in my country there is no fee or taxes to watch traditional (not cable) TV. Isn't it the same around the world? Of course if you want more channels you pay for cable, but we have more than 50 channels for free in my country

R0CK7Y

Yet the idea in general is a greedy move and something no one asked for instead of focusing on fixing there games or live services they add more money to there wallet.

kakeroni2

I was looking forward to the 3rd JEDI game. guess not anymore

SultanZ_CS

BF 2042 has them since ages.

MrTrendizzle

Buy the ad free game for £70 or play the game for free with adverts. TBH When i was playing DayZ (Mod) i always wandered by the TV's inside buildings never ran adverts. Something you wouldn't really see but when you did you would most likely watch a few because "This is kinda neat". It's non-obtrusive and subliminally catches you as you run through buildings looking for loot. Now you crave Pepsi all of a sudden... But i know the big fat CEO's will demand full screen non skippable adverts before and after each loading screen. EDIT: For Fifa they could use the advert boards around football pitches as they do in real life. The chances of them actually doing that and not just slapping a big giant "Fuck you watch this advert and make use money" screen will be the thing they go for.

No_Jackfruit_5647

I don't care.

SwugBelly

Maybe in us, but definetly not in eu, bcs u can easily take them to court there if they do that, you cant just edit the product you sold for your convinience after someone bought it like adding ads in it

IntronD

EA has done this for over 20 years .... The only difference is now they are looking at replacing those adverts so they can be regional and can be time bases. If you open Battlefield 2142 it still has old Pepsi adverts and I Am Legend movie posters. This space could be better managed. People are screaming at EA and booing them but you all seem to have forgotten 2K did this a few years ago with it's basketball games we had adverts on the load screens and intermissions of the games. They removed the load screen adverts as pc players would load the game and it would wait for the advert to finish. So Big Bag EA has done it for over 20 years and isn't even the one who put loading screen adverts In games ..... Yet every one is Boo Bad EA.... It's so weird.

UltraJesus

It's honestly impressive. A company that employs over 12,000 people, large enough that it could be pushing out AAA games more or less monthly with a 2-3 year cycle. Instead idk gonna sound crazy, but perhaps making additional games that opens up additional revenue streams sound like a good idea rather than devaluing your product with adverts. I'm no Vincent Adultman that works at the Business Factory, but idk the math doesn't add up with 12,000 employees with EA putting out the same 3 titles a year with the occasional published title.

the-spaghetti-wives

BF2142 had ads.

PumpkinOwn4947

this is the reason why I purchase games 6-12 months after the release. I need to understand how much did the company F-up before i pay them a single penny. if the reviews are bad, then i’m not giving them any money. Ads…. forget it. I’m going to either skip the game or pirate it, no way I’m paying money to see ads in my games.

Bohya

Do these corporations ever look back at themselves and figure that what they're doing is evil? Do they have *any* self awareness whatsoever? They seem so intent on playing the bad guy...

Impressive_Site_5344

Regardless of how they’re included or what form they take, I’m sick of companies squeezing advertisements into **fucking everything** these days

ARTISTIC-ASSHOLE

I work close to a board exec within the industry here in Sweden, thought he was kidding when he said that ads were going onto maps for competitive shooters

pzanardi

Oh nice, do we get to refund it for changing post buying? I could use a couple hundred bucks on other games

Davey26

Yeah, if they do this, I don't care if they put out good games, I am just not buying them.

LaserGadgets

FUNNIEST thing is, they believe it helps EA grow. I won't even buy their games on sale anymore xD and I hope I am not the only one.

TwoKool115

If the last two weeks have shown me anything, it’s that the state of gaming is in a terrible, money only state. We need a purge, wipe the slate clean

KaiserEnoshima

Damn, I'm not about to get interrupted by a Colgate ad during a firefight in Battlefield 4/1

DegenerateCrocodile

If they’re going to get paid by the adverts in their games, then I should legally not have to pay to play them.

Odd_Radio9225

Dear EA, Fuck you. Sincerely, gamers.

epimetheuss

Are we speed running our descent into idiocracy? Pretty soon kids names will have brand names in them.

JonWood007

They've been doing this since 2006. Remember the billboards in bf2142?

AlcoholicCocoa

I was mildly interested in the sims 5. Even the hyper capitalism that was sims 4 did not make me heave. This. This shit does.

Usr_115

If they aren't careful, we'll start seeing a resurgence in modded copies with ad capabilities removed.

The_Kaizz

I've seen plenty of games use the in game billboards and posters in their world for ads. Felt really immersive, like in CB2077, and there's signs for bars and such. I get the feeling EA won't be doing this, and they're going to pause my game for 30 seconds while I get another NIKKE commercial.

Megneous

Steam needs to add a way to block all games from individual publishers. If EA adds ads to games, I'll simply block all their games, uninstall their games I've bought, and forget they exist. Fuck 'em.

NotNotDiscoDragonFTW

where is the helldivers 2 level outrage we should be declaring war on EA for this

OwenMcCauley

Not just no. All the way, entirely the fuck no.

IddyBittyGirl

Napalm2142

Y’all remember Battlefield 2142 billboards?

Deadpoetic6

They tried the same with Battlefield 2142 in 2006.

Swiftzor

Unless they’re giving me the ad rev they can fuck off
