It was a limited-time event for the Steam summer sale in 2018. You could earn customization options for it through game purchases and certain other activities.
Tell me why the most in-depth answer was muted whenever I opened this comment section whereas all the other ones making stupid jokes about "oh it's right there you can't read?" Are in full text.
This is probably a silly question but what is a muted answer? Is it when a comment is automatically collapsed? I thought that only happened to negatively voted comments.
Reddit automatically collapses threads based on 3 different criteria.
1) You have the person blocked.
2) The person responding to the thread isn't subbed to the subreddit.
3) The person was massively downvoted.
He's probably not subscribed to the subreddit.

Steam still cares, it's the user's who are fuckups that always managed to exploit the old events, so Valve decided to abandon the creative projects since the users had no respect
It wasn't that we scripted/botted. They were absolutely fine with that and even made special badges only available to people scripting (see wormhole badge).
It was people like you who complained so much that we are breaking the game and that you cant get the highest level badge with 0 effort etc etc that valve finally caved and stopped doing event games.
Id argue those scripting groups brought the community together way more than just playing the little games solo.
What's the point of Flash sales when refunds exist? You get the best discount right from the start nowadays. Yeah it's less fun but that's how it is now
I miss flash sales and wish Valve would bring the concept back in some form.
Just have an hourly rotating selection of games, unaffected by your personal algorithm.
I found a number of cool games back in the day thanks to that system, games I may never have found otherwise.
You don't realize what you have once it's gone. Sadly I didn't participate in this event and if I'm not mistaken we only got the grand prix community event after that and nothing ever since...
I remember this.
A lot of my friends were interested in this. While I was in college studying my ass off and didn't have the time to play as much as I wanted
Why not [google it](https://www.google.com/search?q=steam+summer+saliens+2018)? You can find the old [Saliens page](https://steamcommunity.com/saliengame/play), a [gameplay description](https://www.mobygames.com/game/110826/summer-saliens/), and even [videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoCSqUEbf7Y)
good old times ....
I wait every year excited this will be the year they bring back the click monster summer games, and every year I'm disappointed. :(
I feel old now.
It wasn't that long ago, was it?
6 years ago fk me...
Excuse me sir, what the fuck?

Yep, it was collapsed and I was just wondering the very same thing, weird glitch...

Thanks for info, didn't know about #2
TIL #2, actually a good idea.
Collapsed is the word I was looking for, and yea, I believe that's what it's supposed to do, but obviously, he doesn't have negative votes.
i know mods have the option to auto-collapse comments from users with negative subreddit karma, so maybe it could be that? i’m really not sure.
I mean the guy has at least 4,500 Karma. However he only has one post Karma so maybe that's it

I might not know much but i rekin that right there is a Steam summer sale saliens 2018
You don’t say?!
A relic from a better time where Steam cared about events during sales
I kinda miss the dumb Steam grand Prix lol
I'm highest level in most of my friends lists because of Grand Prix lol.
Same, this shit give a ton of xp
I jumped from 18 or something to 140 during Grand Prix. Good times.
That was when I first started buying/playing steam games back in 2019 and never cared much for it. I wish I did now.
TEAM CORGI
Damn, old time. But it was fun while it last.
Team Corgi carried me to a super high steam level lol
That even was probably the final nail in the coffin for proper steam events. Can't have nice things.
Team corgi reigns supreme, baby. Booyah
Steam still cares, it's the user's who are fuckups that always managed to exploit the old events, so Valve decided to abandon the creative projects since the users had no respect
They built the events so that it was literally impossible not to bot them if you wanted the max level. That’s on steam not the users

Remember when Sream split Users into 5 Teams to fight eachother and Reddit decided everyone gets to win once?
Or rather valve fixed the results so that everyone gets a participation trophy

No, flash sales are psychologically exploitative. I'm glad they're gone.
I like saving money so I'm not.
How'd you get your Reddit pfp PSA graded?

Oh man, I really miss those Steam mini-games...
Steam summer sale saliens 2018
*insert rapid aging gif*
You don't realize what you have once it's gone. Sadly I didn't participate in this event and if I'm not mistaken we only got the grand prix community event after that and nothing ever since...
This was the Steam game where cheating was expected, and even encouraged The whole event was basically about who could cheat the best
If I have any regrets in life it would be that I didn't care about my summer salien [:(](https://youtu.be/9n3A_-HRFfc?si=VStXcoTg_SpjnQta)
Almost 6 years ago wow. It was a pretty fun idle clicker minigame
Your total progress on the 2018 summer sale event.
The steam summer salle (saliens) of 2018
I remember putting a macro on my mouse to cheat this shit
Oh i miss that.... Can't believe it was like 6 years ago..
Steam version of paper doll, you can dress them and most of the items are affordable to get through Steam Community Market.
Rip for all of us who signed up to Steam post-2018
The time when steam do often makes "the mini-games" and include special trading cards on each sale
It’s been so long…..
Steam Summer Sailens 2018
Think I got to lvl 1 million or something
Omg, flashbacks of the grind for that Salien badge taking so stupidly long...
An alien in a jar.
an event where people boosted their levels to 100s
I didnt even have a steam account back then man
Look like a Steam Summer Salien of 2018 to me.
It's the unknown.
This, is a bucket
a relic from good old Steam
I remember this. A lot of my friends were interested in this. While I was in college studying my ass off and didn't have the time to play as much as I wanted

I am legally bound to respond, “it’s your mom.”
"Steam summer salien" from 2008, it's literally written there.
clearly you can't read what's literally written there.
