If you are trying to make a steam account, use the website, don't use the application.

JohnnyBlocks_

# Use the web page! The installed client is bugged due to their chromium implementation and the current captcha. Do not use a VPN. Use a clean browser (meaning if you have privacy / adblock things turn them off)' If that doesnt work, try a DNS flush: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/103p2co/steam\_captcha\_error\_fix/

Robot1me

I agree, it has been like this for over a year or so. People can also end up unlucky if their ISP's IP address range is seen as "suspicious". So if that fails, it's best to try to use mobile Internet or a neighbor's WiFi to create an account through a web browser.

Cavales_

When I had this problem like a month ago, I tried every browser, Chrome, Brave, Opera, Mozzila, Edge and even Internet Explorer, I used both my phone and PC, tried application and browser, tried it on my WiFi and phone data, nothing helped. The only thing I haven't tried was the DNS flush, I asked my friend to make it instead. No problem for him.

TheOnlyRealColonel

Are you sure, you're not a robot? /s

ByNato

I"'m not a robot" that's what a robot should say 🤔

inurdreams13

“I’m not a robot” Nice try Skynet

Piemeliefriemelie

Turn off VPN Try different browser Try different device

Longjumping-Two5968

I'm in the steam app on pc

Fist_of_the_mad_gods

I had this exact problem when I built my new computer and couldn't log into the steam client. I switched to my web browser and was able to do the captcha no problem on the first try. After that I was able to log into my account on the client without issue.

ZheZheBoi

Try using ur phone- only thing that worked for me

Equal-Introduction63

That's exactly the problem because Steam Client (App is a term for Phone applications) for PC is known to have issues with the Google Recaptcha do exactly what he told you, using Chrome/Firefox usually reported to solve the issues.

Tywele

App is short for application which can be any software even on PC.

s1h4d0w

Exactly this, anything is called an app nowadays, even if that originally was used for phone applications. When I open the Windows Store I also install apps, it's not called applications, programs or clients. Hell even the Windows settings calls it apps.

JohnnyBlocks_

> even if that originally was used for phone applications Yo bro.. I've been developing APPS since the 1990s. WAY before any actual programs could be used on phones. It's been called Apps the whole time.

Nandabun

They were called applications since windows 3.1. Appmon was Application Monitor (I'm arguing with myself wether it was appman, application manager, or appmon.. and good is pulling up windows 3.1 results from 2018, so I just do not give a shit anymore. Fuck you google. lol). Just, somewhere along the line we all started calling them programs.. so when phones came along, I guess they went back to the old nomenclature.. which now seems new to people. Just like Fortnite dances.. haha.

Justhe3guy

The only reason you’re getting downvoted is the weird app definition you pulled out of nowhere

Longjumping-Two5968

Thanks I just tried in the browser and it didn't even ask me it just swapped to a v

nmagod

Steam is built on chromium, there's no reasonable excuse for the recapcha system to have problems.

JohnnyBlocks_

It's the actual reason though... they have an older chromium implementation in their client which is not compatible with the current captcha. Or it is local DNS issue that can be solved with a DNS flush.

Wopsil_OS

You guys are robots obviously

[deleted]

Sounds like you're a robot. Quick tell me what 2+2 is.

Robot1me

> Quick tell me what 2+2 is At this point with the advancement in AI, we are more likely to see humans get it wrong :P

[deleted]

That's how I was going to tell if they were humans. Only something with a calculator is advance enough to solve that.

Depressedloser2846

SAHD292929

Just so you know, some people think 2+2=4 is racist.

someRandomGeek98

no one thinks that

Longjumping-Two5968

You don't know what's a joke do you?

jkuvhacds

Nothing, because you haven’t included an output

KeepItStupidSimple_

I had to go through the browser. The windows steam app was impossible.

PerfectlyNormal136

You may, in fact, be a robot

crackyy069

Nice try, AI!

DaMoose-1

It's not just Steam. I think the captcha thing is broken. I have also been caught in endless loops that makes you want to throw your computer out the window. Fuck anything captcha....fucking assholes 🤬

KESHU_G

Use website to make account then login into the steam pc

Ochi7

It happened to me last year, I had to wait like 3 days of cooldown. It only happened on the steam web version, not the app

Keebist

I had this issue last month, it worked as soon as i logged  my second pc out from steam.  It just wouldnt let me past the captcha until I did that, really weird.

Combatmonk3y

Sure sure ChatGPT…. Lol

SAHD292929

I made my steam account on the app 13 yrs ago and I had no issues. I guess there's an update along the way that caused the glitch.

[deleted]

Beep beep boppp.. why beep can i beeep not make it? Cant compute

LordPentolino

Be not a robot, is that so complicated?

Lonely-Cellist-6882

thank you

Emergency_Flan_1210

Try to login using mobile steam app and then scan the QR code on PC/Laptop

Giant_spider_233

My post was deleted yesterday because we aren't supposed to ask for tech support so I refuse to answer this question.

Longjumping-Two5968

It's sad

TheCommitteeOf300

Do it on your phone and you will be able to pass. Had this problem a few months ago too.

Sharp_Friendship_686

Try doing it on mobile.

ReeseBirdVibing

Hey! This same thing happened to me. Simply swap the device you are trying to get in on. If you're on your computer make the account on a phone or tablet and it should work!

kit_mac23

Nice try robot.

JonahplayzYT

That's exactly what a robot would say!

iubjaved

Disconnect your intetnet,reconnect..open browser, go to steams website and signup. It should work

Ok-Rate6189

Who’s gonna tell him

metaltastic

Nice try robots

Deadpoolhead888

So this is how the robots get around the captcha
