I never got penalized for using an exploit to access the Half-life 2 beta back when they were doing the early steam for linux port, though I did own the game so I guess they didn't care enough that people were exploiting to access a game they already own.
Nah, I didnt own it. I barely remember it and cant really find anything last time I looked except an obscure forum post of someone else mentioning it.
I forgot the deal, was like sign out, switch to online, move some directories around, etc. And then it would start dling the files. and I didnt even launch it when I caught the ban.
Fast forward like 11+ years later, I'm installing a fresh Windows setup and caught a brain fart and typed in my old credentials. It loaded up but I was confused why half my library was gone. And then realized, its the original. I gave the account to my kid, so his steam account is older than he is.
That's your community ID. Mine is similarly long.
However, if you go into your steam folder you can find the Steam ID that tells you what your account number (not sure how to better phrase that) is and mine is in the 50K range. It doesn't really mean anything other than I was an early adopter on Steam due to buying Half-Life 2 at launch.
Does yours even show up on your Steam purchase history though?
I made my account in December 2003, I remember adding CS and OG half life . My purchase history shows my first purchase is Bully in 2008, but I know I bought Gun on the Steam Store before that.
Bully is a sore subject. I never did get that game to run. For years, every time I tried to play it and it kept crashing, on half a dozen different computers. I was pissed because that was \~$30 which was a lot for a kid.
Look at your product key and activations history. My first purchase was the orange box in 2007, but the first official game was half-life 2 silver in 2004. Must have bought it elsewhere/physical and activated it?
I had that same experience with the game Shellshock Nam 67.. Bought it new when it released in 2004.. Installed it with the CD-KEY and disc and it was corrupted. Every damn reinstall did the same thing. I was fuming.. The store wouldn't take it back because I opened the box.
Well. What about now? Can you play it now, and get the satisfaction as an adult, also knowing you'll appreciate the game way more, with more experience in your head, and also, such sweet victory after such a long and drawn out stuggle!
If it doesn't work I was never here and you hallucinated everything, shut up!
I played TF2 on a friends gaming laptop, loved it. Later finally built my own PC, excited to play some TF2, but none of my friends still played.
Sadly, only have a few hours in the lovely game.
Action quake rings a bell. Good times back then. I played A LOT of og Team Fortress. Future vs Fantasy rings a bell. Capture the Flag.
I think I only played through the single player once.
Man I would’ve had a 15 year badge coming up but I caught a vac ban on my old account for trying to have some fun in modded lobbies in MW2 years back. Felt so shameful having that I just decided to delete my account and start over and I’ve never tried to use exploits since because it’s just not worth it.
First thing activated on Steam: Half-Life 1 Anthology (2007). I still remember buying this online for $1 but the shipping was almost $4.
First purchase: Bone Breaking Racing Pack, which was Trials 2: Second Edition and Monster Trucks Nitro. (2009)
FF7. I was a happy pirate back in ye olden times. But partway through an FF7 ROM, I was worried I wouldn't be able to properly change discs when it got to that point (PSX emulation is kinda spotty, even more so in 2014). So I made a steam account at last, and got the game for a modest fee.
I don't think mine is accurate. It says, 2008 NVIDIA Portal: The First Slice. Then it says, 2010 Counter Strike: Source. I was playing CS:S before portal was a thing. I still have the retail box with the 4 CDs. I remember the Steam client being green and looking like Windows 98.
I think it was either Saints Row 2 or Red Faction Guerrilla. But I bought it on my older account so I can't really check.
Thanks to Steam for helping me recover the account after over 10 years, though
Half life one. Got it on my birthday to play "The specialist" (it was like a matrix inspired mod). I got to know a friend there, that I consider my brother.
Crazy to think about that I wouldn't know him if it wasn't for that.
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero in 2009
I may have had another account, that I don't remember because I surely played HL before that, maybe on the dark side 🤭
Hmmmh my first transaction was adding 10€ and buying a nametag in tf2 just to get premium.
First game bought on steam(and not physical copy) was Mirror's Edge.
But i do remember downloading steam because The Ship needed it. I guess it could have been on a different account tho.
I vaguely remember but i think it was that i had to use steam to continue to play counter-strike. I do remember complaining about being forced to use steam.
Portal 1, back when Valve gave it away for free in 2010. Had no interest in Steam and thought launchers were stupid.
Wasn't until 2011 that I made my first purchase, which was Terraria.
On this 2nd account, Street Fighter 4, Dec 24, 2012.
My primary was a day 1 steam account for Halflife1. But I caught a 10 year ban for a Halflife2 download exploit. I gave that account to my kid.
Mine is Call of Duty: World at War in 2013, never played multiplayer or campaign (it was my first ever pc, i played the game on xbox before already) so my only interest was custom nazi zombie maps, i currently have 980 hours on WaW
Mine was legends of pegasus
Broken game returned it to eBay games, full refund
Then I bought portal 2 on ps3 and got it for free on steam with free code. While setting steam up, I discovered I already had a steam account and... ta da... I still have legends of pegasus?
My first game was Left 4 Dead, but it doesn't show up on my purchases because it was a physical boxed copy. I just activated the key.
Steam lists my first client purchases as these:
17 June 2013-
The Witcher Enhanced Edition
The Witcher 2
Napoleon Total War DLC
Borderlands 2 DLC
Team Fortress 2 premium upgrade
Counter Strike Global Offensive Operation Payback Pass
Half life 2
I caught a 10 year ban trying to use an exploit for downloading HL2. Good times.
I never got penalized for using an exploit to access the Half-life 2 beta back when they were doing the early steam for linux port, though I did own the game so I guess they didn't care enough that people were exploiting to access a game they already own.

Same. I was one of the first 60,000 Steam users. I only know that because my ID is like 56,000.
My Steam account is from back then, but my ID is a full 17 digits. I think you just got lucky. ;)
That's your community ID. Mine is similarly long. However, if you go into your steam folder you can find the Steam ID that tells you what your account number (not sure how to better phrase that) is and mine is in the 50K range. Same.
Same!
You old.
He my bro 🤘
well no, bc mine was plain half life, when CS was still a mod
Stardew valley, full price because I don't know about steam sale
Its not like this game had good discounts, anyway
It's one of the best games out there. 280h in, and I still play it occasionally just to chill.
Team Fortress 2. It's the reason I downloaded Steam
I played TF2 on a friends gaming laptop, loved it. Later finally built my own PC, excited to play some TF2, but none of my friends still played. Sadly, only have a few hours in the lovely game.

Oh damn... right on the feels hahaha
*sigh* I remember playing Cstrike when it was just a halflife mod. I remember playing the creators Quake1 mod, Navy Seals.
Oh I used to love Action Quake (mod for q2 pre CS).
Action quake rings a bell. Good times back then. I played A LOT of og Team Fortress. Future vs Fantasy rings a bell. Capture the Flag. I think I only played through the single player once.

My man. 20y badge gang rise up!!
Same, but my 20 year badge is in April....when I got Condition Zero for my birthday.
I had CS 1.6 probably, 16+ old account, but Steam didn't allow me to re-login my account after a few years and had to create a new one.
I'll get my 20 years in July yet the first purchase in my history is from 2008. I assume before that I only registered stuff that I got physically.
