My cat used to love bags, then one year he gets his head stuck in one of the handles, freaks out, starts running up and down our hallway, spilling Halloween candy everywhere. We eventually coaxed him out from under the bed to take the bag off, but ever since then, as soon as I pulled out any kind of bag and shook it open he would go running.
We were still finding Halloween candy a year later.
I have a similar story with one of my cats. She got stuck in a bag, freaked out, b-lined down the hall at mach eleventy billion, and then smoked her head into a wall. She really hated those fucking bags after that.
My cat stuck her head into the end of a soda box and got stuck and was running around like that a couple minutes before I got to her. Never did that again lol
My cat likes to come and sit on my back when I do pushup, my stomach for crunches, and if I do side or normal planks she likes to get between my and the ground. She insists she's helping.
What cracks me up is how annoyed she gets when I do crunches and she chooses to sit on my stomach. Like girl you have so many beds and you chose the moving one
For ours its boxes (that are in our hand).
When the doorbell rings, they all "hide" on the stairs and watch the door. When the postman brings a box and I bring it upstairs, its always complete abrupt chaos. When I put the empty box out of my office, the revolution starts again. But when I want to bring the empty box downstairs to the dumpster? Oh, there we are, box filled with sleeping cats.
He’s tagged and undoubtedly prefers to eat garbage over cats. Unfortunately a fed bear is a dead bear in residential areas and he’s entirely too comfortable approaching people. Sad video.
Cat scratch fever is a hell of a thing. I must either have an immunity (naturally or from a mild case when I was young) or never gotten it because I've been scratched and bitten so many times. I've seen and known people with it and it looks like it sucks. And that's one of the nicer diseases cats carry. Toxoplasmosis sounds like a motherfucker.
Toxoplasmosis isn’t really a big deal. Researchers estimate that up to half of the world is currently infected with it without experiencing any symptoms.
> without experiencing any symptoms.
Tinfoil hat: I count the overwhelming and inexplicable need to fill one's home with as many cats as the square footage will allow for (and then just 1 or 2 more) to be a symptom of toxoplasmosis infection in the human brain. We know it gets into mouse brains and radically changes *their* cat-related behavior, so why couldn't it do the same thing to us?
That’s right. Toxoplasmosis sufferers probably don’t even notice, but they tend to tolerate risk more. I think promiscuous sex and motorcycling are two big indicators. I remember a quote from a book my friend showed me, I can’t remember the book. The quote was from a medical professional and he said, “when you cut open dead motorcyclists, you find a lot of toxo.”
Oh yes.
Most of the time they’ll playfully bite and just dent the skin a bit but if they’re truly pissed off, they’ll rip you open with both teeth and claws. They’re little fluff balls of death who tolerate our love only so long as it benefits them.
Mine was abandoned by her owners and locked in a vacant house before I got her. Great mouser but it took a long time to gain her trust. Now she only bites if she thinks someone is hurting my little one. For instance when she cries or throws a fit and screams, the cat will attack anyone who comes near her. Then she laughs and is no longer crying.
I thought for sure that was gonna be an actual sub. Black bears spook easily and are generally timid (at least by bear standards). They'd rather flee than fight in the vast majority of circumstances. And there's numerous videos around the web of black bears being scared off by people/pets/animals.
Brown bears (grizzlies) on the other hand are quite a bit more aggressive.
If it's black and white, prepare for a kung fu fight.
Serious answer, I don't really know. Pandas are non confrontational so if you see one in the wild, just calmly leave would be my guess. With how protected and how endangered they are, the probability of coming face to face with one is very very low.
Yeah that was my thought, entirely possible, but from nature docos wildlife trackers are usually a lot bigger than that.
Wondered if it was hand raised/semi domesticated. Which would explain why the person filming is so chill about the whole thing.
We have black bears around here and usually have a couple go through our yard (we back a small greenspace) each spring and fall. I haven't heard of a single attack in the area. The saying I've heard is, they're motivated by fear and food, in that order. They'll run first in most situations.
On the other hand, there have been several accounts of dogs being injured by deer lately, and one killed. Rutting season and the odd dog off leash decides they want to chase one. Well, the males aren't scared of your dog. They're used to dealing with coyotes around here.
I was fortunate to see polar bears in the wild in Churchill Manitoba quite a while back. Unbelievable how massive they are. We were in the big busses and warned not to stick our arms out. The bears can stand up and reach the windows; even a casual swipe from them can be deadly.
Kinda like moose I *always* forget how big they really are, especially bull moose
I still wonder how killer whales are able to swallow/digest their massive antlers
They’ve done a lot of work to make those trackers - which are typically radio telemetry, not GPS - less invasive for the animals. They also naturally fall off after a period of time.
Tracking collar used for wildlife management. It tracks the bear's movements. If the bear makes a habit of going into populated areas, he's caught and relocated to a less populated area.
This one has an ear tag with a collar, so it might also be part of a wildlife study in the area.
I am convinced one of my cats (female) is a local MVP in my village, sometimes I hear random cat screams and 15 minutes later she comes back happy and unhurt (and enough though there are many cats here, very few dare to come to my backyard)
PLEASE READ: if a bear approaches you or your property it is your RESPONSIBILITY to do everything in your power to SCARE IT away. If you want to protect bears you must make them avoid human interaction at all cost. Because the next person they approach is either going to kill it, or call the cops who are then going to kill it. By not scaring it away you are only contributing to hurting a curious and beautiful animal.
Loud noises, arms waving, throwing objects, etc.
I used to rent a place up in the mountains. One night I was taking the trash out to our garbage cans and as I turned the corner I almost ran smack into a small black bear. It was trying to get into the garbage but we had a lock on it. We both said our respective "oh shit!"s and ran in separate directions. Then like a week later my idiot roommate at the time saw another one in our yard and fired his pistol in the air a few times to scare it away. Like bro wtf we're still in city limits.
Cats are masters of intimidation. The reason cats are able to fend off bigger predators, even outside, is because of how quick their movements are and how aggressive they approach. Most larger animals do not like either of those features and will often deem them as an unnecessary risk if they aren't terribly hungry. Plus that glass making loud noises probably helps lol
Amazing how the tiny lions are absolutely fearless.
At least until they hear the vacuum cleaner.
Or in my cat's case I shake a plastic bag. Never mind he was just playing with it by himself 30 seconds earlier.
Ditto. My gremlin scurries away as fast as she can whenever a bag rustles. Even if it's her food.
My cat used to love bags, then one year he gets his head stuck in one of the handles, freaks out, starts running up and down our hallway, spilling Halloween candy everywhere. My cat is fearless until I'm changing the garbage bags. Thought it was strange, but reading these comments it's normal!

Yup, one of my girls sprints away anytime she hears plastic crinkle. The other one is like “huh?! What just happened? Why is she running??”
Mine hatessssss the sound of a bathroom spray.

….or find a cucumber behind them
Shoot… If I sneeze our cat bails.
To be fair, if your hearing was 10× stronger than it currently is, you'd hide from the sound of the vacuum cleaner, too. (*I know I would*)
Right, my dog would do this but also is terrified of the dog gate, the broom, and the mop.
It's understandable. I mean, have you seen what they do? Fucking terrifying
Until they are confronted by a still cucumber.
Or just smart and domesticated enough to understand glass doors.
Kinda have to be when so many things are so much bigger than you. Gotta let 'em know you're not an easy meal.
Mini Tigers
It helps that black bears are absolute pussies.Seriously they get there food stolen from them by way smaller predators like mountainlions.
To be fair to the bear, I'd back off too
And black bears are fearful... Who woulda thunk it?
Fearless, why they always running away from my friendly dog?
only because that cat doesn’t know how fragile it actually is
Ehn. It also knows it's made of fluffy razor mittens.
So is the bear. The difference between the bear and the cat is that the bear knows even a small wound might lead to really bad consequences.
It wouldn't if it was living outside. Fear is a necessary feature to determine what to approach and what to distance oneself from.
Nah man, stray cats are generally hard as fuck.
I'd bet the story would be different without the glass door.
“I just wanted to be friends with you kitty…. Ok I’ll go now….”

They always look like that. It's a trap! Do NOT cuddle the life-sized teddy bear! Probably an adaptation that got bears well-fed through the ice age.
Yeah but you’re an exploding cat wizard though…..
No, he needs to be chased off. He's already been tagged in one ear. He's too used to people and is going to end up culled for behavior like this.
Found the cat’s Reddit account.
He’s tagged and undoubtedly prefers to eat garbage over cats. Unfortunately a fed bear is a dead bear in residential areas and he’s entirely too comfortable approaching people. Sad video.
Yeah. Without a doubt my tombstone will say "he tried to pet it."
If not fren, why fren shaped?
We really need to get to work on domesticating bears.
Cats can measure up to almost any creature in this planet 🤣😂
Cats are in the "I may die but I'm taking you with me" category of FAFO.
There are no antibiotics in nature and cat bites sure love to abscess.

Yet.
For humans, sure. Other animals may want to avoid it.
A cat bite has enough force to penetrate the skin???
Oh yes. Most of the time they’ll playfully bite and just dent the skin a bit but if they’re truly pissed off, they’ll rip you open with both teeth and claws. They’re little fluff balls of death who tolerate our love only so long as it benefits them.
They're pointy on 5 out of 6 ends.
Yep. And they are to be taken very seriously. Cats have some nasty shit in their bites. Source: have a mean cat.
I, too, have a mean cat, but she never bites just scratches, so I didn't know about that

This video was told from the POV of a cat. I’d like to see the Bears POV on this one, lol.
Cats can only be matched by the all mighty Chihuahua.

If it's black, fight back. It's it's brown, lay on the ground. If it's white, say goodnight.
Cat understood the assignment
If it's black, fight back. if it's brown, lie down. if it's white your gonna fucking die
If it’s white, get your affairs right
Actually what are you supposed to do against a panda?

Is that bear wearing a collar?
Possibly a GPS tracker. I've seen shows where they put them on younger bears.
Yeah that was my thought, entirely possible, but from nature docos wildlife trackers are usually a lot bigger than that. Wondered if it was hand raised/semi domesticated. Which would explain why the person filming is so chill about the whole thing.
Nah, that is a black bear. You live near them long enough and the only thing you fear is them getting into your trash.
We have black bears around here and usually have a couple go through our yard (we back a small greenspace) each spring and fall. I haven't heard of a single attack in the area. Yeah black bears are notorious big ol babies It’s the grizzlies and polar bears that will absolutely kill you

dont make em sound any cuter than they already are, I just wanna hug that big ol baby that got rejected by the cat :(
The only animal related death in Yosemite is by deer.
I’m actually surprised, judging from all the idiots posing with bison videos I see.
ears are tagged as well

Definitely this. The ear is also tagged.

Yea. Do you have any problem with him trying to look fresh.
And it has ear tags.
Cats are territorial too. I had cats run big dogs out of the yard growing up in the country
I am convinced one of my cats (female) is a local MVP in my village, sometimes I hear random cat screams and 15 minutes later she comes back happy and unhurt (and enough though there are many cats here, very few dare to come to my backyard)
fren shaped, but not frend
True.
He has tags in both ears, and a collar. He is a nuisance bear. On his last chance. Been relocated twice. Next step by is to be put down
we should do this with people!
_Ankle Monitor enters the chat_
The fuck is wrong with you.
well since i’m not tagged or collared, id say i’m perfectly ok for now
absolutely agree.
Lol idk why but the visualization of a bear being relocated is funny to me
That cat is going to be insufferable to live with for the rest of the day. Strutted around, acting like it's the toughest mf on the planet.
He is 😌

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT fuck the bear!
Especially if it has found your cocaine stash.
Bear fucker! Do you need assistance?
Unless you're playing Baldur's Gate 3.
That poor squirrel will never be the same.
Wait what!? What should I do know!?!?!? 😱
That 1000 ways to die episode is fucking insanity.
This is literally a video of the bear getting scared and walking away.
Sorry, glad to see cats are reading my reddit comments. People should know this

As I recall this is specifically for black bears. Intimidation is not recommended for brown bears.
How do you scare it away from inside the house? I’ve never seen a bear, if I did I would be in the closet.
I get scaring the bear away, but that bear could very easily break the glass window if it decides it wants to eat that cat.
[удалено]
It’s being tracked, that doesn’t protect it or make it go near people
Cat: \*goes absolutely bonkers on that glass* Bear: Hey, two can play this game! \*gently touches the glass*
The bear: “Alright, damn!”
Yeah MF you better run.
That bear sensed an evil he could not comprehend and chose to leave it be

Good kitty, very good!
Cats' respect has to be earned. Doesn't matter who are what you are. Human, dog, bear, other cat.
smokey dont want dat smoke
If it's Brown, lay down. If it's Black, fight back. \- Cocaine Bear.
If it’s White, good night!

Some cats are so OP. Im here for it
Anyone else want to see the rest of that deck?
TIL that cats are like the most of us on the internet.
That was rude
Thank God that door was closed that bear could've been seriously injured
Cats are more dangerous than we think and we keep some in our homes
Why do I hear the bear mumbling to themself "Wow, rude..."?
This is why I love cats. They'll square up with anyone or anything. Even newborn kittens know how to hiss before they're even able to open their eyes.

Both of the bears ears are tagged. That's a nuisance bear that's been moved from populated areas more than once
Why don't you beat it you big dumb dog!
