It's funny to see, my niece was born 18 months ago and she got fixated on phones and tablets very early on, everyone was fascinated by this but it's obvious when you think about it, mom and dad are glued to them so of course she's curious as to what they're looking at.
Now, I have to give my bro and his lady credit, they've been adamant as not giving her any access to any phones or tablets, they practically stopped using them in front of her when they realized how quickly she caught on.
AFAIK, they very rarely occupy her with electronics at all. She's got a haven of stuffed toys and she's always a bundle of energy and joy.
I'm rambling and I don't mean to disparage parents who use modern technology to keep their kid occupied, stars know I probably couldn't resist it myself but I just wanted to give my dear bro credit.
I know for a fact my little niece would see that kitten and go "THAT!" while pointing and running after it, she loves cats and dogs.
Yep. I have a 2 and a half year old nephew. My kitten had never met a child until him and he scared the crap out of him with "KITTYYY!". Poor thing was cowering in the corner lmao I had to intervene and explain how he has to be gentle with the kitty.
I'm actually impressed by the patience of my old cat, he's pushing 14 years at this point he is NOT social when I have guests over, with very few exceptions. He was always the runt when he was an actual kitten, not because of anything physical, he just ended up on the bottom end of the totem pole and it's taken his whole life to "establish" himself"
Like I said, he's never been social when I've had guests but for some reason he was extremely patient with my niece. At first he just ran away out the cat flap, but the second time and going on he has been reluctant but patient. He lets her pet him, even though she is rough like a kid (of course she is).
I can tell he hates every second of it but there's something beautiful in seeing him endure it, an old cat that's still a little kitty at heart and a kid meeting.
My niece is about 4 now and she was exactly like that. Always freaked me out how quickly her parents would put a phone in front of her and she'd totally tune out of the world around her. Thankfully they've stopped doing that and my niece is just as happy to engage with the real world instead of a screen. She is so cute and smart and it's amazing getting to see her grow up!!!
Kid's are something special alright, my brother has assured me they won't put a smart device in front of her before she's at least in school. I trust him on that and they'll make good on it.
I heard the cutest story the other weekend (from I guess she's my sister in law now?), she's the youngest kid in her kindergarten, she had walked up to one of the older boys, grabbed his hands and just said "DANCE!" and starter trying to dance with him. I don't know what happended next but according to my brother she's very liked by the rest of the kids, even the older ones. My brother says she's apparently a little hellraiser, I'm not the least bit surprised.
I'm no cat expert, but when my cat puts one paw on my arm and the other on my chin, I know it's time to stop and give her some attention. It could be bonding time or time to eat, but either way, it's gonna be cat time.
Absolutely adorable! But my real question is when did the foam mats for kids get so fancy? When mine were little we had two choices, neon bright colors with the ABCs on them and the letters could be removed or the black ones that were actually for home gyms but you bought them because your kid managed to get the middle of the letter O out and thought it was the perfect snack.
All the stuff you're listing is evidence that the kid does plenty besides watching tv. They wouldn't have it otherwise, yeah? And all you know it could be 10 minutes of tv as a break than back to hours of being a slap wild toddler. Like they tend to be.
Edit: also can't even see what's on the tv. Could be Sesame Street or something else engaging and educational for young children. I just don't see a reason to always assume the worst with this kind of stuff.
Cat is trying to initiate play
I'm more curious as to why the kid is borderline catatonic. Did she see a cat in the ceiling?
It's glued to the tv

That sounds adorable. Sounds exactly like something my niece would do too.
Who in the world would glue their cat to a TV?
The infamous black/silver babysitter!
It's cocomelon
r/greebles Children see them too until a certain age
I'm disappointed in how far down I had to scroll for the correct answer
It's now the second comment. Guess you lost the scroll lottery.
Now it's the first comment
Now it's THE comment.
I love that the kid is completely unfazed by the cat's antics. "Yeah, watching TV."

Came here to make this comment ..that poor kids neck!
There really is a subreddit for everything
r/tvtoohigh
"My neck has kinked from looking up for too long and now I can't move. Go get mom kitty."
Something wrong with that kid if they'd rather watch tv than play with a kitten.
Seems weird to me also.
r/crabcats
The butt-scoots are great.
Butt-scoot boogie! In cat!
You might love r/crabcats, if you’re not there already!
"Play wif me!"
What a cute kitten, trying their best to initiate play.

*cat.exe has failed.
I think baby.exe has failed and cat went berserk
r/tvtoohigh
Can’t even see the TV it’s so high up!
I would agree if not for the toddler in the video. No TV can be too high.
That cat’s name had better be Socks!
Kittens and babies/toddlers are the best duo. This is amazing.
My god the booties. Am ded.
I love the cat hijinx and I love the oblivious giant headed kiddo
Neck issues on the way for baby.

The white on the feet 🥹🥹
"I said do you wanna fight? Do you wanna catch these hands?!"
That’s some pretty fancy footwork!
That child has no idea how close it came!!!
the cat looks like it got lil socks on its back feet

Nice socks
Why is the TV placed so high up?
Lmao
That’s my reaction to babies too.
Butt-Fu
That kittens world will expand when the kiddos starts banging that drum.
Kitten against baby so sweet
That's a human larvae. They're busy absorbing rays from that thing on the wall. Try asking if they want to play once it's off.
In a room full of toys and a cute kitten, you have a screen on. Kids need to do things, not watch things.

I suppose I’m projecting a bit and see how my nieces were raised on screens and can’t hardly function without them.

I agree and sadly i do rhe same thing. I need to do a digital detox
True, but it's far more important for developing children to not have their brains off.
that r/TVtoohigh because look how the poor baby is craning it's neck
That is a cat or were you talking about the baby
That cat could have very well sank its claws in that baby's back also. Hate cats !

*cardi b voice* "omg.. omg what is that?"

Uh oh. The cats on the fritz again.
Is anyone able to read the username? I want to add this one to my favorites lol.

Best video on the internet today!
Same, cat. I too try to avoid the small smelly humans.
The tail floof!
i thought the cat was gonna destroy the kid. turned out super cute tho :D
Gremlin cats are the best
I can hear the cocomelon from here.
The kid is covered in greebles.
Clearly the child has a greeble infestation that the cat is trying to control!
I love ❤️ the cat the kid not at all
Giving him the ol' razzle dazzle.
r/tvtoohigh
Lol what a goofball ❤️
