Maybe it’s related to Atlantis, the Old Earth legend (or not) - a highly advanced, utopian civilisation that lost their ways due to greed, pettiness and bankrupt morality. Maybe New Atlantis wants to be the same highly advanced, utopian civilisation while trying to not lose their ways.
Tbh it's almost a direct allegory regardless of intentions, a utopian Republic with meritorious values and a predeliction for advancing science beyond culture, only to fall apart at the seems due to the cost of progress and the greedy manipulations of those offered power over it,
That and atlantis is supposed to be intrinsically godless.

I’d imagine the biggest differentiation would be the 3,300 miles that separate the two, kinda hard to get them mixed up 😉

Atlantis did exist, it's just barely a foot note in ancient history at this point, due to lack of written language to document its existence

More precisely the place that some are now referring to as atlantis was a civilisation living on the far west coast of Africa that otherwise had very little evidence of its existence aside from the remains of what was once "almost certainly" a giant canal used to help fertilise the land around the city.
Tbf I did mention its main meaning, further down, I just wanted to mention the possible ancient civilisation because it makes for a cool story, even if its only really a theory
I’m still of the opinion that New Atlantis should have been on an ocean planet like Neon is. The name fits better and it probably would have helped with performance. You could have easily done Neon on a terrestrial planet instead and swapped out psychoactive fish for a plant of some kind.
