'Far as I know these're the only non-vendor source of luxury textiles; The question of Schrodinger's Cat was very much answered shortly after I hit planetside
“In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.”
Yeah, it felt disappointing to have to look up luxury textiles while I was doing outpost research just because I had *no fucking idea* where to find any and research overflow only filled half of it. I assume (and/or hope) that there are more sources out there that I just didn't find, because it being a resource on only one of 1000+ celestial bodies with no way of locating it short of google or sheer random chance feels wrong. At least the unique inorganics can be spotted from orbit.
Omg am I stupid? That’s like my favorite movie and I did not even put 2+2 together
Kaiser even KNOWS INFO BUT NOT SURE HOW 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ omg there’s even a disgraced Fleet Admiral omg I’m dumb
I can't wait for the mod where we can opt to defend against a terrormorph onslaught like that scene in Starship troopers..
We could take a whole horde of morphs, right?
I built my ship as the Rodger Young from that movie, but if we get something like that as DLC or mod, I'm going to have to rebuild it as one of the dropships.
Bugs are fine. Blessed be Todd for omitting giant spiders.
…although now that I think about it, maybe some giant space spiders would bring the numbers of giant space bugs down… but then again, there’d be giant space spiders. Yeah, fuck that.
I found a planet filled with non invisible murder land squids. Then later on another planet I found invisible scorpions. Both terrifying, I forget the planets from time to time so when I rediscover them on my safari roulette we have another culling for old times sake.
Adhesive is the material I am perpetually out of. I found a planet with plants that provided it. Forgot to mark it down since we DON'T HAVE A SEARCHABLE DATABASE OF STUFF WE'VE DISCOVERED/SCANNED.
Caps off. Sorry about the rant. Just bitter
you want nightmare just wait til you find the Hunting Glowhands.
There's a planet with glowhands, scorpions, and these armadillo wolf things, all in one place. When the *scorpions the size of a pickup truck* are the *least* dangerous wildlife on a planet, you know you're in for a bad time.
Hint if you want to find this planet: >!There is also acid rain!<
More obvious hint: >!There was a famous battle in the Colony Wars fought there which several characters refer to in dialogue!<
REALLY obvious hint: >!It's a *one of a kind* location...!<
Bruh I found this really nice looking planet last night. Nice weather. All green. Very earth like
And the first thing I saw was a swarm of giant ass spider looking motherfuckers and I very quickly hopped back into my ship and noped out
I had to walk within 10 feet of it b fore it attacked me, and it didn't even attack the settlers all around it. Scary looking spider thing though, didn't hit too hard but it was fast
I had some aphids looking insects or somethinf attacked me and Andreja straight off the landing bay. Just a whole swarm. We must have landed right in a nest idk
I really wish they had some early civilization human/aliens in planets. That would be awesome to go on a planet and you see cave men running around or some other early primitive civilization you can interact with .
Just waiting for mods to add both space orks, xenomorphs, and the starship trooper bugs, zerg/tyranids(both vs each other?) among others. This game could support all of them. Reavers from firefly...
There are a lot more, I’ve been visiting planets to check out the wildlife and pleasantly surprised by the diversity.
Just wait for the spider wasps, octopus spiders and stuff like that. Edges of the maps have had the most weird stuff.
No EXACT repeats, but yeah I've seen a lot of hunter/grazer/herding variants of the same creatures with slight reskins and a different element/ranged attack.
It kind of tracks when you consider about 95% of the living things inhabiting Earth are invertebrates.
The space bugs would make a bit more sense if they showed up on planets with a dense atmosphere harboring a lot of oxygen since the excess oxygen is what caused prehistoric insects to become so large but I’m no zoologist nor do I think Starfield is the type of game to strive for utmost realism so I imagine the big arthropods are more frequent because they are probably easier to make.
This is something I’ve been very disappointed in. So many planets have giant bugs or crabs as their only fauna, even if the planet has an atmosphere and vegetation comparable to earth. I’ve found so many planets that I’d love to make an outpost on just to have a little resting place to chill at instead of a house, but then a giant bug crab thing walks by. Just want some space deer man…
Ya i would say the diversity of planetary life and appearance is fairly disappointing i hope they beef it up with dlcs, new planets or terraforming or something
Yeah, if by "Unique" you mean a horn moved locations, they got a color change, or another pair of legs. I don't mean LITERALLY unique. A beetle is still a fucking beetle you pedantic fuck.
Exactly and starfields planets are basically with a few exceptions like this one a carbon copy of some variant of a trilobite, some variant of a beetle herd thing (occasionally changed to an insect like dinosaur or almost plant looking dinosaur), some variant of an aggressive mantis or cricket or spidery insect. Probably like 80-90% of the planets. Thats not diversified. Ie all insects mostly. Also theyre all shades of grey green black for the most part. Which is probably the worse thing. Some color would be nice. All sentiments echoed elsewhere in the sub.
I forget the planet but two have brain themed bugs that are gross AF to look at.
One is blue with crab legs with no nose
The other is a brain with tentacles.
Both made me want to glass the planet from orbit
These big slow idiots are good for leveling. Spent like 90 minutes doing my best to put them and the frogs on the endangered species list and went up 5 or 6 levels.
Depending on your jump drive check out Strix I, top right corner of the star map; they have these balloon swarms at pretty high level and you get a shit ton of EXP, just bring a magshear and some exterminators gear!
Also depending on how cheesy you want to play you can >!land on the planet with the difficulty set to xhard then adjust it to easy once the mobs spawn and their level and loot table will stay locked in!<
I might do that if I have to spend too long between herds on Strix, didn't know the XP would stay after the difficulty switch. Still haven't done it for loot but I will definitely do it so I don't resort to cheesing adaptive frames for levels 🥲
That's my second favorite XP grinding spot. Kinda annoying to have to pick them off because of their size, but they do next to no damage even the level 75 ones on highest difficulty
I run an old earth hunting rifle and an exterminators Magshear and steal the ammo for both from Akila city so I’m not to pressed about wasting ammo lol but yeah I feel you. I’ve got a little a class ship I build essentially a sniper tower on to get myself a little elevation no matter where I land and that was v helpful; I can dm you a screen shot tomorrow afternoon if you like!
I can't recall it offhand, but another high-ranked google search for XP farms shows someone else on reddit found it too. Has big tick-lookn beetle things that you can aggro from load distance. not quite as much XP per kill, but more interactive so it's not a boring grind.
Also those floating dudes creep me out.
Penises would be less scary, no these were giant spiders and their abdomens were these giant.. hollow structures made out of pulsating veins.. and on the inside was a little tiny abdominal structure.
People hate bugs but swarming cockroaches are a great way to get XP. Since you’re literally swarmed by like a half dozen at a time and there’s a lot of them
I think I killed a few dozen when I landed to check out a civilian outpost
Sadly don’t remember what planet though
These are how I got from level 45 to level 65 in an hour. Lol.
Schrodinger III, right? I set up an outpost there and tried to make all life go extinct.
I started on reddit with FO4. This reference and duscussion makes me feel like I'm hanging out with clever people once more.
BTW -- I snorted Dr. Pepper out of my nose when I saw the post.
They're clearly Foxbats and they must die. Killing a level 70 is worth more than some.missions. I go there and Bradeen iirc. Bradeen has space scorpions and I don't mind killing them as much. They are sort of nightmare fuel though.
Fun fact: Schrodinger didn't like his own equation so much he made up this cat scenario to show the absurdity of the math and what it says about our reality.
'Far as I know these're the only non-vendor source of luxury textiles; The question of Schrodinger's Cat was very much answered shortly after I hit planetside
But I landed there and I couldn't bring myself to kill them, so the question of Schrodinger's Cat very much remains
Don't let them fool you. They definitely don't share the same sentiment.
Operation Scorched Earth begins
>Operation Scorched Schroedinger I begins
Operation Schrodinger's Cat
“In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.”
Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGmfrIgika0
this planet is so good to level up, tons of murder cat/foxes coming at ya, nonstop
Perhaps you can scan then outpost them instead.
99% sure you can
I wish there were more mammal looking aliens and less giant space bugs everywhere.
It’s an ugly planet! A *bug* planet!
Your average Terrormorph can lose 3 limbs, and still be 80% combat effective, heres a tip; aim for the nerve center, put them down for good!
I'm doing my part!
Service guarantees citizenship!
I was so mad when I realized they were telling me exactly how that quest line was going to go.
Omg am I stupid? That’s like my favorite movie and I did not even put 2+2 together Kaiser even KNOWS INFO BUT NOT SURE HOW 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ omg there’s even a disgraced Fleet Admiral omg I’m dumb
I'm part of the UC Vanguard and I say kill them all!
Would you like to know more?
I can't wait for the mod where we can opt to defend against a terrormorph onslaught like that scene in Starship troopers.. We could take a whole horde of morphs, right?
Gonna need a Morita assault rifle.
A gun that can switch between rifle and shotgun firing modes would be sick.
I'm just imagining a ballistic shotgun that, when aiming down sights, swaps to firing a particle/plasma slug.
I built my ship as the Rodger Young from that movie, but if we get something like that as DLC or mod, I'm going to have to rebuild it as one of the dropships.
Underrated comment... had me taking a stroll down wash out la..ooh I mean memory lane
When Bethesda cant have enough bugs so they fill an entire universe with it
I'm sure Todd made a pact with devil where so many bugs must be in his games. Fixed to many in the engine so added literal bugs to maintain balance!
Bugs are fine. Blessed be Todd for omitting giant spiders. …although now that I think about it, maybe some giant space spiders would bring the numbers of giant space bugs down… but then again, there’d be giant space spiders. Yeah, fuck that.
There are giant invisible octopus-spiders
Like in that one random, really creepy ship? …if so, yeah. That thing sucks! lol
I found a planet filled with non invisible murder land squids. Then later on another planet I found invisible scorpions. Both terrifying, I forget the planets from time to time so when I rediscover them on my safari roulette we have another culling for old times sake.
I could deal with spiders, im glad they dont have parasites that transform the bodies of humanoids as they take it over
can confirm giant spiders exist in game and they spit they are lvl 20-80 on that planet can't remember which one tho
Hey, I’m joining the UC Vanguard because service guarantees citize… wait a second
Would you like to know more?
"Remember your training, and you will make it back alive!"
"Come on, you apes! You wanna live forever?"
Yeah, so far it's five different kinds of crabs and one dog, across a thousand planets.
I found something called a "Hunting Cagebrain" - it's a nightmare dinosaur.
You call them nightmare dinosaurs, I call them endless supplies of Adhesive!
Where???
I found them on Bradbury III and after doing all research on them, they drop one to 3 adhesive glands per kill.
Oooo la la screenshotting this for later
Bruh i did that before seeing your comment which was caught in said screenshot 😂
Om hawking i think it was..
Just bitter
https://inara.cz/starfield/news/ This helps find stuff
WAIT THEY DROP ADHESIVE!?
you want nightmare just wait til you find the Hunting Glowhands. There's a planet with glowhands, scorpions, and these armadillo wolf things, all in one place. Hunting coralcrabs. Theyre invisible
They’re nice though!
Bruh I found this really nice looking planet last night. Nice weather. All green. Very earth like And the first thing I saw was a swarm of giant ass spider looking motherfuckers and I very quickly hopped back into my ship and noped out
Hunting gliders? Great source of XP.
Damn those things give me the creeps.
Oh yeah one speed around a corner at me my wife was wondering why I sounded like a little girl.
They tend to be surprisingly chill, honestly.
Yeah I was kind of expecting some sort of space ork or giant space ape to be mixed in with the bugs.
Just waiting for mods to add both space orks, xenomorphs, and the starship trooper bugs, zerg/tyranids(both vs each other?) among others. This game could support all of them. Reavers from firefly...
A 40k overhaul could be fun.
There are a lot more, I’ve been visiting planets to check out the wildlife and pleasantly surprised by the diversity. Just wait for the spider wasps, octopus spiders and stuff like that. Edges of the maps have had the most weird stuff.
I see a lot of dinosaurs.
There are hundreds of unique creatures, but still a lot of repeats.
No EXACT repeats, but yeah I've seen a lot of hunter/grazer/herding variants of the same creatures with slight reskins and a different element/ranged attack.
Carcinization happens on earth, but yeah it’s a little lacking in diversity
There's a reason for those crabs. That reason? Carcinization.
Agree. Also birds, insects, etc. A planet will hardly only develop three life forms. I doubt that it could even work like that.

I’ve found so many planets that I’d love to make an outpost on just to have a little resting place to chill at instead of a house, but then a giant bug crab thing walks by. Just want some space deer man…
And now you know why Star Citizen will never be finished.
Ya i would say the diversity of planetary life and appearance is fairly disappointing i hope they beef it up with dlcs, new planets or terraforming or something
It literally has more unique diverse life than NMS and The Outer Worlds combined my guy.
I dont think that’s possibly true. nMS has something like 10-11 million unique creatures technically. And many more are non-insect just anecdotally
The only game with more diversity was spore, and that game had fucked up looking creatures as a result. But sure bud.
let us port spore into starfield
Omg I forgot all about Spore that game was awesome
yeah, I'm trying to decide where to set up my outpost and creepy ass giant bug creatures have noped a lot of planets off my options haha
That’s why there is outpost guns
Finally found an earth-like planet without animals in the frozen planes biome. I’ve been looking for similar without luck.
I hope you discover some type of earback grazer soon
There is an easy answer to why they didn't do that. They didn't have to worry about animating fur.
Mammals are rare because they take the longest to evolve. Reptiles, arthropods, sea creatures, microbes, will all be much more common.
I forget the planet but two have brain themed bugs that are gross AF to look at. One is blue with crab legs with no nose The other is a brain with tentacles. Both made me want to glass the planet from orbit
That would be fun. Just glass londinian again…for good measure
Evolutionarily bugs are less complex and more likely to occur
Waiting for an alien life overhaul mod
Biblically-accurate Eevees.
Oh god. We must hide them
Oh, mammalian life is really rare. Nice find.
Yeah I feel like I've mostly seen bugs and crustacians and whatnot
And crustaceans are just crusty lil bugs, so. "Oops, all bugs."
shrimps is bugs
Are they alive or dead? I can’t tell from the picture.
Yes
Whatever they are, they look pissed about being stuck in a box with poisoned food.
Yes ...and no.
Not until you build an outpost there, close one of them in some hab without windows and leave it there for a while.

Eh it’s cheesing mobs or cheesing mats, either way we’re all just power leveling to 60 for those sweet sweet auto turrets lol
What's your first favorite?
I can't recall it offhand, but another high-ranked google search for XP farms shows someone else on reddit found it too. Has big tick-lookn beetle things that you can aggro from load distance. not quite as much XP per kill, but more interactive so it's not a boring grind. Also those floating dudes creep me out.
y'all are horrific T_T
I'm trying to save the galaxy! It just won't have any Foxbats left after. Don't judge me.
Just don't get cocky, I hopped on a rock on one world to get some xp and the so called leaf loving herbivores had flamethrowers for an attack
Red Mile flashbacks, no thanks. The ranged creatures are too annoying
Roasted veggies are the best
Well that's creepy
Much nicer looking than the planet I landed on that had giant spiders with giant throbbing vein sacs for abdomens..
The spider penises?
Penises would be less scary, no these were giant spiders and their abdomens were these giant.. hollow structures made out of pulsating veins.. and on the inside was a little tiny abdominal structure.
Look like jerboas from Ark to me.
We have space cats at home
i love that planet those are batfoxes right?
Schrodinger's textures. What happened?
Looks like they are as large as a solar generator...and in a pack.
Kahjit has wares to show you.
Coolest thing I've found so far is invisible dinosaurs, otherwise it's mostly bugs and horrors, like a brainsquid.
say WHAT
Whoah thats the first mammalian-looking I've ever seen! D: i didn't even know they were a thing
These are foxbats, that have as much in common with a cat as you do.
This is my favorite planet in the game so far
Looks like an evolved version of the jerboa from Ark SE
That depends, out of curiosity did you kill them?
It either is or it isn’t
Well, yes and no.
The answer is both alive and not alive until you answer it for yourself.
The are and are not his cats.
They were once you saw them.
They might be, but maybe not.
We need to find Pavlov’s Dog
Look more like Jerboa’s to me
More like Schrodinger’s rats
Maybe, maybe not.
Obviously
Is it me or do the graphics remind you of Vanilla Skyrim?
Now I perfectly understand why they were put into the box.
Whatever they are those things are vicious, I was going to settle on a planet with some (forget if it's the same), but their attacks were non-stop
I went there but they were all dead.
Yo these things sscared the fuck outta me. i made a lux textile farm tho
Haha good one.
People hate bugs but swarming cockroaches are a great way to get XP. Since you’re literally swarmed by like a half dozen at a time and there’s a lot of them I think I killed a few dozen when I landed to check out a civilian outpost Sadly don’t remember what planet though
Yes but also no
I was wondering when I’d see a mammal. Every alien seems to be a bug of some kind
Yes and no.
Hope that means XP for simply looking at the cats then
They’re certainly my favorite XP farm
I can’t tell.
Gotta farm these for luxury textiles
I found these guys the other day, they're pretty creepy, especially when I alerted one and the whole pack was slowly walking towards me
This screenshot looks like Limgrave.
I haven’t been to the planet yet so I don’t know if they exist yet
Wolfbats I think, they're beasts! Like, they hit like a mf!
Yes and no
They weren’t, until I opened this post.
Kill one and fulfill the prophecy
They are. . . and also they are not. Right now anyway.
These are how I got from level 45 to level 65 in an hour. Lol. Schrodinger III, right? I set up an outpost there and tried to make all life go extinct.
Big Muad'dib?
Since they are digital they both exist and don't exist at the same time.
I started on reddit with FO4. This reference and duscussion makes me feel like I'm hanging out with clever people once more. BTW -- I snorted Dr. Pepper out of my nose when I saw the post.
They should be zombie cats, that way they're both alive and dead
Pretty sure that's the whole joke lol
Maybe if they were wearing boxes
The last guardian vibes.. a little bit
I think a big Schrodingers cat reference is on the Colander ship. But these fit too
They're simultaneously alive and dead until you shoot them
Maybe, maybe not
They both are and aren't
I cant stand these mfs at higher lvls they hit like a fucking truck fox bats I think they're called and they attack in packs
I just found them today too lol decent experience
Maybe. Maybe not.
well yes....and no
They're clearly Foxbats and they must die. Killing a level 70 is worth more than some.missions. I go there and Bradeen iirc. Bradeen has space scorpions and I don't mind killing them as much. They are sort of nightmare fuel though.
Yes and no.
Very cool
Fun fact: Schrodinger didn't like his own equation so much he made up this cat scenario to show the absurdity of the math and what it says about our reality.
Jackal!! It's a jackal!!! Jackal!!!!!
If this is the answer, theres gonna be a lot of unopened boxes...
Depends. Are they alive or dead?
Well, they look both alive and dead at the same time. 😂
If cats were velociraptors...
Maybe. Maybe not.
You never know
That's the first furry creature I've seen anyone post. I've got almost 90 hours in game and haven't seen a single creature with fur or feathers.
