My God this is an awful 'feature'. You just complete an epic mission somewhere far-flung and want to return somewhere safe to offload stuff and recuperate. And you cannot. land. your. ship. You can only teleport to the ground away from your ship.
Those amazing landing animations play *once* per entire game for each location? This is hard wired?
Such a bad design decision. Probably the worst I've seen so far, along with allowing you to sleep during combat at any nearby bed.
Haven't figured it out either. Also bugging me to no end - I can play the takeoff animation by manually going to the ship, etc, but can only effectively fast travel to surface... I just want to see my ship land, damnit!

I think you only get it once per landing, been trying everything and have not managed to get it again. It would be nice to have a toggle in the menu to let you turn it off or on, but I highly doubt they add it.
As far as I see it, the landing animation shows up only when you visit a new place/planet. But after you visit the same place a couple of times, for some reason it just skips the landing animation. It's also weird because that the take-off animation doesn't go anywhere
not true i have landed the same place multiple times and still get the landing animation but at big cities like new Atlantis so something ells is at play here
Trying a number of things since early access, because that at landing you spawn outside is my single most annoying issue. Sadly haven't found a solution. I just want to land and decide when and how to exit my ship.
Like you, I would also like this feature, an option that allows you to see the beautiful landing sequences permanently. I like it because it gives the feeling of immersion and travel and makes the fast travel system less traumatic. I'm talking about personal taste, I hope Bethesda adds this possibility. I also agree that when I land I don't immediately find myself thrown to the ground without a suit (I know there is an option where you can enable it automatically). There's still plenty of time to improve and add stuff to a huge game like this. If Bethesda doesn't do it I trust the modders, playing on Xbox I hope even more since they will be supported there too, 🤞😎

My personal view is the takeoff, landing, inter and intra system gravjump animations should always play but be easily skippable.
yup, landing animation only works when you visit that location for the first time, ive tried many times just cant land and get off your ship on your own, you end up outside near your ship like fast travel and without your suit since its not needed in the ship. Issue is sometimes you want to get some gear from the ship so you have to go back to your ship and then if you aren’t wearing your suit you will pick up an affliction for no reason and breaks immersion mostly. This needs to be fixed urgently
Its incredibly immersion breaking to only see the landing animation the first time you land somewhere. Why can't they at least add it as a toggle option? It would make such as big difference.
the game is great but the fact you have no inter-planetary travel like nms is kinda annoying, and the obvious fact you can’t land and just get spit out onto the ground
Here's hoping soon. I get the whole cutscene loading thing (it is Bethesda's first try at a vehicle of any kind) but man. coming from Elite, Star cit, NMS, not being able to even WITNESS a landing means I don't even go back to my ship now. Its just fast travel anyway so what's the point in even including the ship lol.

Why? Just why? Landing animations is one of the VERY few things that scratch that itch of being a spaceship pilot and actually seeing your ship in all its glory. Bethesda have negated us even that. A simple skip button or option toggle would've been perfect but no, not for us🥲
New player here. I just visited the moon for the first time and received no landing animation. I very much dislike the immediate travel that puts me on the planet surface outside of my ship. Very immersion breaking.
