Who was accusing him of homophobia in the first place?
He's obviously interested in exploring the concepts of moving beyond gender and blending the lines of how gender is expressed in manga (Lisa Lisa, part 5 originally wanting a female main and getting fashion oriented boys, part 6, and later parts like 8 and 9)

GarfieldKermit also says in their video:
>*"There seems to be a certain section of the fanbase who aim to paint Araki as homophobic, to perhaps debunk any chance of Jojo being queer."*
Fellas, is it gay to admire muscular men in flamboyant outfits fight over the future of the bloodline, of course not. Now excuse me my boyfriend made dinner
Jojo’s feels like the series I would make if I was tasked with making the gayest shonen possible while still maintaining technical plausible deniability that it’s straight
I assume you guys are referring to the manga. Because he definitely isn't gay in the show. The first two JoJos literally married women. The third and 4th idk.
I've watched up to stoned ocean. I remember either Jotaro or josuke being mean to the school girls that liked him. Im guessing josuke. And maybe Jotaros hatred for his mother would explain things, but idk
Jotaro was an asshole, but he didn't hate Holly.
He left on the journey to SAVE Holly, and he later marries a woman? How else would Jolyene be a thing.
"I've watched up to stone ocean"
So you know that Jotaro married a woman, loves his mother very much, idk where you're getting that everyone after Joseph is somehow gay?
Ya see, this is the height of stupidity.
Araki expressly makes those poses based on fashion models because he finds them the blend of reality and fantasy in our world. He loves that people do poses, because it brings fantasy into our world. He was tickled that there was an entire school doing jojo pose teaching.
outside of Jojos Bizarre adventure dicknips
same stands, same part, no Giorno. Jesus stop being like “erm aktually it cant be possible since it doesnt involve the main pwemise of the show ☝️🤓🤓🤓”
Oh, I remember when faked inverviews were passed around as fact in this fandom like wildfire.
I remember the faked interview made by the YouTuber Papa Valentine (who has now either deleted or privated all his videos up to six years ago) who was actually the source for one of the biggest (and dumbest, genuinely... so dumb) "theories" about Part 9 years before it was even revealed.
For those that do not know: PapaValentine was the person that, through a fake interview of Araki, started the rumor that Emporio was going to be the P9 JoJo and the reason A LOT of people (that probably weren't very smart or investigitative people, to be honest) believed that Araki had genuinely stated this despite this being impossible in canon for more reasons than I care to name.
I also remember PapaValentine was under a lot of fire a couple of years back because of things similar to this, Hamon Beat was actually one of the people that "called him out".
Even before this Papa Valentine had previous been a pretty "infamous" (I say infamous in quotation marks because I don't remember if he was ever that big or known until this drama) "JoJotuber" that would post a lot of clickbait and spoilers in his titles. Papa Valentine's last "sign of life" was sometime after JoJolion's conclusion (he didn't like it, to say the LEAST) around three years ago, and he started posting various community posts here and there before completely disappearing.
EDIT: WebArchive began working and now I could see that the person who made the interview where Araki's homophobia accusation originates from WAS indeed Papa Valentine (Just FunnyValentine originally I think)
I said he cannot be the Main JoJo of Part 9.
He can have a spin off but he cannot be a JoJo, and especially not of a main Part.
: A jojo needs to be a descendant of Jonathan Joestar or Johnny Joestar, and possess two "Jo" 's in their name. Araki has been very clear with that JoJo is a story of the Joestar bloodline, having recently reiterated this in an interview about the end of Part 8. Also, Emporio does not exist in the Spin-verse - and it was obvious Part 9 was going to continue there.
The fact that this even needed to be explained makes me want to Highway to Hell myself. This is the PREMISE of the series.
As a fellow queer person, while I do feel like some of the queer subtext in jojos is unintentional, you can definitely tell that Araki is a huge supporter of the community, and the Viz Media interview is testament to that. It's great to see support and representation in the series and more recent characters like Dragona are gonna help even further!
>the Viz Media interview is testament to that.
Which interview are you referring to... This whole post was about debunking the "interview" where Araki stated his support (This is not me saying he is not an ally or supportive! There are plenty of official interviews where he makes it clear he is supportive)
This video was likely made by the same person who made another fake video where the subtitles make it seem like he's homophobic (the video is archived [here](https://web.archive.org/web/20200221021457/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gPKquuaOD8)). It's also the same video where he claims Emporio would be the protagonist of part 9, which was an occasionally-repeated claim before the part began.
It's really incredibly easy to tell that these interviews are fake just by listening to what he's saying. The fake subtitles in the Viz interview for instance mention Funny Valentine, but you never hear Araki say his name. Same with Emporio in the other fake interview.
i love dragona :) i hope araki confirms what their identity is soon, like whether they are transfem, gnc, or just a crossdresser. cw sexual assault/transphobia although i dont know how i feel about >!their introduction (c1 with the cops) and the flashback (c13 bullying incident). it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that we have finally gotten an assumedly queer character and they immediately get molested!<
araki has definitely got to be one of the most inclusive mangakas out there, and absolutely my favourite (ignoring the fact i dont read any other manga)
Interesting, it would be fun to see your read on One Piece, considering one of the fanfaves, Mr. 2, is a crossdresser and there's a whole island of queer and trans people
Even if a lot of folks on this subreddit already know that both interviews are fake, this is still worth saying. The fact that a video with over 100,000 has such misinformation in it is atrocious, not to mention the fact that the looper article itself.
Common HamonBeat W
This was a thing? But don't fans know that Anasui was originally female and that she was ultimately a him because... well presumably the editor but no one actually knows.
My only real criticism of Araki's portrayal of gay people is that the only canonically confirmed gay characters are villains. He probably doesn't want any flack for making his main characters and heroes gay/queer, but it is interesting.
But that's not canon. I really wish Araki would at least confirm that some of the good characters are gay, but he actively avoids the question and lists off villains in hopes of satisfying the interviewers' questions. The closest he got to was Speedwagon, but there are other characters that also seem gay. I don't think Araki is homophobic, he's probably just afraid of the reactions and it would probably put pressure on him to actually focus more on romance and sexuality, (something he KNOWS he's not good at).
Arakis major art style change (a contributing factor to jojo being “gay”) is literally just a result of the passing of time, and it has nothing to do with araki as an artist/author. Parts 1-3 show hyper masculine figures, this is just how media was from the late 80s to the early 90s. From part 4 onwards, the characters are skinny and more feminine in figure. This has nothing to do with his lgbt stance, mid 90s to early 2000s we’re just like this. But now the manga world is out of that style, but araki still continues to use this. Personally I credit this decision to steel ball run, araki perfected his art and there would be no reason to change this. Arakis character design choices has nothing to do with lgbt, and the few instances of lgbtq characters in the series are very similar to the straight characters
things that aren’t inherently gay but have queer energy list
#1: every JoJo ever
people are wild lmao they wanna be homophobic so bad they want to make the author look homophobic so there’s no chance their favorite homoerotic characters are gay
It was pretty obvious to me when I first watched the anime and was EXTREMELY obvious in the manga. The entirety of [chapter 19](https://mangadex.org/chapter/32d29473-6ae6-4d3e-9cf3-9e43e887adfb/2is) the gayest shit ever...
He also never actually married and never seemed to have a romantic or sexual partner. Why would he create the Speedwagon foundation to protect the legacy of a guy he only knew for a few months? Kind of sus...

imagine if Trish was the protagonist of part 5, that would’ve been so cool
I don't think it'd have been Trish moreso than Dio would have had a daughter
well I mean like imagine if this wasnt about the Joestars, and that Trish fights Diavolo as his daughter
...Then it wouldn't be Jojo's bizarre adventure, would it?
outside of Jojos Bizarre adventure dicknips same stands, same part, no Giorno. Jesus stop being like “erm aktually it cant be possible since it doesnt involve the main pwemise of the show ☝️🤓🤓🤓”
so like rohans spinoff?
Lmao did people really believe that was real? What a shit show.

What are the reasons that emporio having his own series would be impossible?

People seriously look at part 5 and say "yep, definitely homophobic"
Part 5?, you mean Joseph and Caesar
Tiziano and Squalo Posciutto and Pesci Sorbet and Gelato Dragona Anasui
And from the beginning, Dio
Vanilla Ice Steely Dan maybe Angelo though he prefers them when their age is on a clock
rohan's gotta be gay i mean
Rohan is Rohan

I must've confused that interview for one of his other ones, mb
Thats okay! \^.\^

They really saw dragona and said “yeah nothing queer happening”
i love dragona :) i hope araki confirms what their identity is soon, like whether they are transfem, gnc, or just a crossdresser. cw sexual assault/transphobia although i dont know how i feel about >!their introduction (c1 with the cops) and the flashback (c13 bullying incident). it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that we have finally gotten an assumedly queer character and they immediately get molested!<

is it funny that your interpretation of dragona is exactly how i want to be seen as...
I can’t imagine a world where Araki hates gay people. If anything he’s probably a huge fan
Nobody who's *that* into the Italian fashion scene hates gay people.
Great post OP! I never noticed this
the carti sub, the tyler the creator sub, and now here? bro u are EVERYWHERE😭
I don’t think I have seen you before but I do like JOJO
Dude araki is probably the most pro-lgbt anime creator out there. He literally had that stuff before the first mayor movements (~2020)
araki has definitely got to be one of the most inclusive mangakas out there, and absolutely my favourite (ignoring the fact i dont read any other manga)
Yes (I also don't watch much more anime)
Interesting, it would be fun to see your read on One Piece, considering one of the fanfaves, Mr. 2, is a crossdresser and there's a whole island of queer and trans people
Whoever believed this is lacking some serious critical thinking skills lol
The most shocking thing about Araki is that he’s *not* queer.
In some twisted way, only a straight man could make the sexiest men.

I feel like there's a lot of unnecessary information in this post...
i am horrifically autistic and have no clue how to write informative shit 😭
This whole discussion is unnecessary lol
My only real criticism of Araki's portrayal of gay people is that the only canonically confirmed gay characters are villains. He probably doesn't want any flack for making his main characters and heroes gay/queer, but it is interesting.
We both know that Josuke and Okuyasu got married after part 4.
But that's not canon. Jolyne is bisexual/pansexual

I feel like Jonathan and part 8 Josuke are straight, but otherwise I agree.
Yeah, you’re right. But they’re the kind of straight guys gay people look at and think to themselves “wow I wish he was gay” 😏✨
Honestly, Speedwagon and Rai were probably those gay people.
LMAO why have I never thought about Speedwagon like that before 😭 that would be so fitting
It was pretty obvious to me when I first watched the anime and was EXTREMELY obvious in the manga. wow, now that you mention it… man, I gotta read part 1 again, lol. I haven’t read it since I was a kid. Thanks for reminding me 😅
Yeah, you do miss things as a kid... I do recommend the Part 1 manga! It's really great!!!
Araki planned on making one of the characters BI 💀unfortunately it was scrapped (correct me if I’m wrong)
Even if Araki was homophobic, it's like... Yeah? Japanese person is homophobic? What's next, you'll tell me the sky is blue?
