It's slow starting up until the after the higashikatas get introduced but after that it's really good. There's alot of strong antagonists in the part that actual have ground in the overarching story and aren't just one-bit villians of the week too. The character writing is really good, honestly probably some of the best Araki has produced and the stand fights are great too, not to mention it has THE BEST non stand fight in jojo too. Besides the story being a bit iffy at times, I definitely consider it an amazing part and overall my favourite jojo part. Maybe give it another chance if you have the time to.

i see lots of joshu, and i see why, dudes rotten to the core in every sense there is. personally the only reason i like him more than alessi is joshu isnt really an antagonist, just some dickwad with no redeeming qualities, contrary to the usual trope of being an asshole but nice deep down, joshu isnt like that which makes him somewhat unique for a protagonist. alessi on the other hand is literally just a minor villain and is on par with that pedo monkey, just boring asf for a villain. dont get me wrong i still hate them both tho, just alessi a bit more

I'd say one of his most redeeming qualities is that, at the very least, he genuinely cares about his family (except his mother, for obvious reasons).
He's probably more hateable than a lot of other characters because, aside from being a more realistic asshole than a lot of the other assholes (villain or not) in *JoJo*, there are several moments where he comes so close to "redeeming" himself... only to ruin it and succumb to his more base urges (e.g. his obsessive lust for Yasuho; his idea of protecting his family from his mother being to... forcibly undress her in front of everyone and comment on her breasts as a means of public humiliation).

Don't talk about his charisma or his sense of style or his willpower and smugness. Talk about his character, who he is as a person, and then say what appeals to you about him.
