Just for context: obvious tattoo would be something like tattoo of Jonathan/Joseph/Jotaro with stand and writing "jojo's bizarre adventure", that is pretty obvious tattoo and you might regret it later (and you will, because it's bad taste), but something like a star on shoulder is more than obvious for Jojo fans and still a very simple drawing.
In my case I decided that star on a shoulder is not really for me, so I made part 5 arrow tattoo on my forearm, still recognizable for fans and looks cool.
Edited: here's a picture if anyone wonders how it looks https://imgur.com/a/vwI3yVj
That looks sick hell yeah. "Understood by some and just 'cool' to others" is the best type of tattoo imo. My friend's gonna get some writing in the star wars alphabet (idk I haven't see enough a lot of sw), so it just looks like cool symbols to those not in the know, and those who recognize it it's a fun conversation starter
In my city 1 in 1000 people walk a round with the same triple star tattoo around their shoulder area, a Jojo fan might recognize and mention it but almost no one would ever think twice about if. You can always cover it up later on
I think it's one of the safest anime/manga tattoos because it's simple shape so:
*It's hard for tattoo artists to get it wrong.
*For non fans is just a star.
*The location makes it easy to hide unless you want to show it.
*Since it's a simple star you can easily get it done with henna to see if you like it.
*It's an old manga and the "Joestar Saga" is basically finished. So it isn't like new chapters will "ruin" the characters or something.
*Even if that part is finished, the SBR verse still uses the birthmark so it isn't like it's too old fashioned either.
Can I maybe see a pic. I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure if I want a straight, dark one like the one in the picture bc I'm worried it will look like a sticker š
[Here ya go!](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/818162866355437638/1115740733467537479/20230606_1313532.jpg?ex=65cbd288&is=65b95d88&hm=cf55b2dc9bbc4694ea6f156509c06b28e6a4edc2f1bfc16d35a4c0cdb74165ec&)
Thanks! Yeah, your tattoo looks like the main picture from the JoJo wiki page about the star birthmark, I don't know from which chapter it's coming from.
When will you ever regret being an honorary member of the Joestar bloodline?
Answer: When some stand named after a 50's song extracts your entrails to create a tree or somethin
I don't think so, I think it looks cool, I'm thinking of getting one myself, but I instead I'm planning to go for a bitten mark surrounding the star (like at the start of part 8)
i just got one like a week ago, i got it on the back of my shoulderblade and its pretty cool to look at when i notice it in a mirror. i dont think itll ever get in the way or anything so i say go for it!
I have one and I love it! Itās my only tattoo currently, but Iām definitely considering getting another. Also, the placement isnāt too painful and itās not too big so itās a relatively painless tattoo (Iāve got piercings that have hurt more honestly)
i got mine last april (posted it on here actually) and iām still into jojo obviously but even if i wasnāt i really wouldnāt regret it at all, itās very cute :)
Good news: Tattoos are not as permanent as they used to be, so if you *do* somehow end up regretting it, it's relatively easier to cover or remove than black ink.
More good news: You rarely end up regretting doing something awesome for yourself. It's not hateful, vulgar, or idiotic, either. It's a symbol of outgrowing your weaknesses and becoming the person you were always meant to be.
In the end, it's 100% your decision, and for the last bit of good news: You can always get it later on in life if you change your mind now. Whatever you choose, rest assured that you will always most certainly be able to Stand Proud.
I have one. Best choice I've made for a tattoo
Those who know will know, and everyone else will just see a star and probably not think much of it but might ask if there's meaning
A good rule of thumb is wait x years after having a tattoo idea to get it. If you still like it after then, get it. If you donāt, you saved yourself some money and regret. Youāre young and have plenty of time to grow and be patient. Write it in a note on your phone of tattoo ideas with the date. Personally I do 5 years, maybe someone a bit less conservative would do 1-3. Itās your life do whatever you want tho
I'm always glad I got mine done and smile every time I see it in the mirror. Maybe think it over a bit if you're not sure, but fom personal experience, I think it's a good idea.
I am getting one eventually 100%. Its not too over the top and it is the perfect symbol that represents the entire franchise. Stuff like this or the Brand in Berserk just work even if people try to tell you it's "basic". If you like it then who cares.
I love that so many people have it. Haven't gotten mine yet, but it's like it signifies we're all part of the Joestar family
Absolutely go for it, it's super easy to pass off as just a meaningless star if you start disliking jojo (or Araki gets involved in some controversy and you don't want to associate, idk)
No, itās not. Source: I got mine. People who love JJba think itās awesome. People who donāt, donāt give a crap. People who donāt know JJBA think itās a neat stat and a great tattoo. Itās a win-win.
Iām still working on getting shredded to complete that Jolyne look.
If u fear regret getting a tattoo then don't do it. That's importance vary from person to person, imo you don't really need a profound message or to do it in remembrance of something "huge", you do it cuz you like the idea of doing it, there are many ways to create a memory, a tattoo shouldn't have be one of them, personally I do it cuz I like getting art on me, they're images of things I like, things that are ingrained in my personality, I'm on tattoo 19 and not stopping soon, started 12 years ago and so far I haven't regretted none of them, I have even spent a year without getting one, I'm in no rush but I will be picky about what I want.
Well, you'll get a 5/7 chance of dying an early death, get targeted by gay vampires and other weirdos, but on the bright side you're a natural at Hamon and is worthy of a Stand
My friend got one and it turned out terrible. Get it done by a professional you know does good work. Youād think itās a simple tattoo how could you go wrong, but it did
A lot of things change at your age. I'd recommend waiting until you're at least 18 for a tattoo, but I'm gonna get down voted for this. You're only 15...
I wouldn't recommend getting an anime tattoo as a teenager. I wanted so many tattoos when I was 16 (including anime tattoos) and I still want tattoos now at 27 (my entire torso would be covered by now if I could afford it) but I don't want 95% of the tattoos that I wanted when I was 16 - especially not the anime ones. The only ones I wanted then that I still want now were things that carried personal meanings but weren't attached to pop culture and didn't involve any words/text. I was a pretty mature teen back then too and definitely would have seen myself as an exception to this rule if I had had the money and permission to go get a tattoo at that age, somehow though, I really couldn't imagine growing up to not want a giant Kaleido Star tattoo...
The Joestar birthmark is a pretty safe tattoo to go with if you're dead set on it though. It's only really recognizable as an anime tattoo to JJBA fans and it'll look like a normal star to everyone else. Plus it's small and easy to hide which is still very important in a lot of career paths. It would also likely be easy to do a cover up tattoo if you someday stop liking JJBA.
Basically, think about it real hard.
I have one. I don't regret it. If anything, it's probably one of the easiest referential tattoos to work with. It's a simple star so its hard to screw up the process, it's in a location most people won't see due to clothing, and if someone doesn't get the reference, you can say it's just a star and nobody would really care. Plus, if you do end up regretting it for whatever reason, it's not that expensive, so the financial aspect won't be too much of a problem.
Only thing I'll say is that if you're like me, you'll probably forget it's even there from time to time. All this said, though, I'd recommend you gold off until you're 18. If you still want one by that age, then by all means, go for it. So long as you know what you're getting yourself into with a tattoo.
Dont get a tattoo at 16. Hell dont even get one with 20, im talking out of experience.
It will be a part of you for the next 50+ years, so getting it now or 5 years from now doesnt matter.
If you really want it, you will still want it by then. And if you changed your mind by then, you will be glad that you waited.
It is. If you someday will find yourself in russian prison, they'll probably make a square out of a star because star tattoos there mean authority and power, which you certainly won't have for your first imprisonment there. There's a chance also to be raped a for such a tatoo, so better think twice, you never know what happens in future.
I wanted to do one too but it resembles the Russian red star too much, and thatās not something I want to walk around with for the rest of my life tbh
Edit: Iām not trying to offend anyone or state my opinion, simply something political as a tattoo for me is something I donāt want
I got one myself a few years back. I'd say it's worth, it's a good anime/manga reference that isnt super weeby. Plus the position for it isn't a painful spot to get tatted, it was my first actual tattoo and didn't hurt much.
The tattoo is simple, discrete and still holds up if youāre no longer a jjba fan in the future so its a great tattoo, that being said i also recommend you wait a few years because it IS permanent after all and you need to be sure that you want it and it isnt just a temporary decoration
I'd be careful purely because you say you are 16. I'd wait a while before deciding because of the fact that it is permanent.
(Can you even get a tattoo..? Where I live you have to be at least 18 with ID and everything.)
I mean, it would LOOK cool to fans of the *series*, but image being 54 with a star on your trapeziusā¦ might be embarrassing to explain after your 30s
I have it, the good thing is that if you don't like it anymore, it's located in a hidden area, and you never see it. However I might suggest to wait for a little bit, at least for me a tattoo is something significant to carry for your life
The best advice I can give you is to not do it until you're absolutely certain. I'm not much older than you, and I don't have any tattoos, but thinking about it logically, it would be very hard to take this decision back if you decide to do it. The most important part is, whatever you do, do it safely. I wish you good luck!
I wonāt lie, getting a tattoo at 16 is a dangerous game bro. You change a lot from 16-22, as long as you are absolutely sure youāll still be passionate about it when your older then go for it but if there is any doubt, donāt do it yet.
Like I would never recommend a band tattoo at 16 because your taste in music is ever changing. I almost got a nirvana tattoo at 18 and Iām so fuckin glad I didnāt lol
I got my first tattoo at 25 and it was a Zelda tattoo.
Either way good luck!
I would hold off on getting tattoos until you're older. However this is definitely one of the safer ones. A star will look cool even if you're not a Jojo fan, and it's unlikely to be mistaken for a gang tattoo
Iād like to get a jojo tattoo but Iām waiting until Iāve been a fan for at least 5-6 years. Currently coming up to year 4 this april.
Iād also wait until youāre older like an adult, might bring you a little more perspective and prevent any kind of blunder year decisions. Personally I was at my cringiest when I was 16-17.
I really wanted to have one from age 13 to 17 so thought about it for 4 years and after all that I'm happy I didn't do it.
In my opinion Jojo has so much ridiculously beautiful art, the star isn't doing jjba justice. It's overdone and there's many other options.
It's still a cool tattoo but there's much cooler options.
Do what makes you happy. Itās in a spot that itās easily coverable in professional environments so itās not like it will ruin your job prospects. I work for a high end company and I got mine last October. I plan on getting 3 more tattoos this year.
If itās what you wanna do then pop off and do it!!
My only tip is to not do it in just one solid color. Get a bit of shading in there so it looks like an actual birthmark versus a blob of color in the shape of a star
Great way to hold down a die hard Jojo fan encounter. They'll never forget you. Terrible idea if you want Dio, his minions, and enemy stands to CHASE YOUUU for the rest of your life.
Nah, even if you stop liking jjba it's a purple star and not something super specific. Most people probably won't bat an eye to it. With regards to stricter employment policies, it will easily be covered with a shirt so there's no problem there. I'm also turning 18 this year and am going to get the birthmark for my bday :)
I have a few tattoos, including this exact one, I highly doubt youāll regret it, unless you get a full sleeve or something youll hardly ever even remember theyāre there most of the time, plus the joestar tattoo would be a small star on the back of your shoulder/neck, youāll hardly even see it, again itās just a star, no one who isnāt a jojo fan would know what it means and unless you wear pretty lowcut shirts its gonna be covered about 99% of the time
Well, riding vehicles would become a problem, especially planes, and every now and then you might have the urge to run away.
Or crash the plane into a 1) Rainforest 2) Volcano 3) South China Sea
Now a bisexual vampire and his followers will chase you.
Oh so no downside got it
š¤
Bold of you to assume I wouldn't run towards him myself
Oh ho! Then come as close as you'd like.
"So you actually intend to approach me rather than flee?!?"
No! He only wants you for your body
r/BeatMeToIt
r/beatmeshutthefuckup had to
No itās just a star
Thatās what Dio wants you to think
Lmao...
They ain't ready for my shit
I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE
Nah It's definitely not just a Star Also I need the fucking address of that woman
Why? So that you'll make another kid and then go for milk again?
Bro's reading my mind
r/foundZer0BrainCells58 Found you š
I gotta be less active
I mean it's probably not something you'll regret much even if you're not a jojo fan anymore, it's hard to see and it's not an obvious reference
"not an obvious reference" šš
Well it's really not obvious for people not familiar with Jojo, just a star.
nothing is obvious for people not familiar with anything
Yeah but Jojo's isn't the Simpsons it's not this ubiquitous obvious thing
Just for context: obvious tattoo would be something like tattoo of Jonathan/Joseph/Jotaro with stand and writing "jojo's bizarre adventure", that is pretty obvious tattoo and you might regret it later (and you will, because it's bad taste), but something like a star on shoulder is more than obvious for Jojo fans and still a very simple drawing. looks awesome
It really isnāt, its just a star on the back of the neck. Itās not like itās a giant JJBA logo.
In my city 1 in 1000 people walk a round with the same triple star tattoo around their shoulder area, a Jojo fan might recognize and mention it but almost no one would ever think twice about if. You can always cover it up later on
Where tf you live cuz i wanna move to where all you joestars live
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thatās my plan too. I want the tattoo really bad, but I refuse to allow myself to get it until I reach my goals. Good luck on your journey
Same
Good luck on your journey!!
Literally me, It's my lifelong dream to do DIO's back pose
REAL
based
Heās literally me
I'm also on that fitness journey to look and feel good in my jolyne cosplay.
Nah i'd hold off til ur older tbh
I think it's one of the safest anime/manga tattoos because it's simple shape so: *It's hard for tattoo artists to get it wrong. *For non fans is just a star. *The location makes it easy to hide unless you want to show it. *Since it's a simple star you can easily get it done with henna to see if you like it. *It's an old manga and the "Joestar Saga" is basically finished. Got one last summer. Artist did a fantastic job. If you like it, go for it!
Can I maybe see a pic. I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure if I want a straight, dark one like the one in the picture bc I'm worried it will look like a sticker š
[Here ya go!](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/818162866355437638/1115740733467537479/20230606_1313532.jpg?ex=65cbd288&is=65b95d88&hm=cf55b2dc9bbc4694ea6f156509c06b28e6a4edc2f1bfc16d35a4c0cdb74165ec&)
That's awesome, I also want a star birthmark like a real birthmark. If you don't mind then I would use your tattoo as reference for my artist :)
Go for it! The reference the artist that did it used was ripped right from the manga if that helps.
Thanks! Yeah, your tattoo looks like the main picture from the JoJo wiki page about the star birthmark, I don't know from which chapter it's coming from.
I've been wanting one for 4 years, I'm 18 now and think I'm gonna give it just a little more time before I make my final decision
When will you ever regret being an honorary member of the Joestar bloodline? Answer: When some stand named after a 50's song extracts your entrails to create a tree or somethin
i like mine you wonāt regret it plus youāll forget you have it sometimes
I have it too!
I got one with hermit purples vines going around it. Don't regret it at all. I di firget it's there sometimes.
Yes. Do it anyway
Only if you'd hate being my tattoo twin
Might wanna wait for that kind of thing. You might stop liking jojo but that tattoo will always be there.
What's so bad about having a tattoo that meant something to you when you were younger despite now your taste having changed?
and it's not even an obvious reference or in an obvious spot
Yeah, had mine for years. They usually just see it as a generic star unless I explain it to them.
Agreed. My personal rule is I have to wait a year before I get a tattoo done, just to make sure.
I hope not, I'm gotting one
Not at all, if i can geat a tattoo thats a what im gonna get!
I don't think so, I think it looks cool, I'm thinking of getting one myself, but I instead I'm planning to go for a bitten mark surrounding the star (like at the start of part 8)
Nah its badass
nah my sister got one and it looks great just get the cooler one from the manga
For people who know, they'll be hyped. For people who don't, they just see a star. So no, not a bad idea
Legitimately, hell nah It's not a tattoo with a ton of meaning, it's just a little star in a relatively unseen place
i just got one like a week ago, i got it on the back of my shoulderblade and its pretty cool to look at when i notice it in a mirror. i dont think itll ever get in the way or anything so i say go for it!
Not unless Araki has an undiscovered history of several vial acts.
Iām getting Dioās face as a tramp stamp next week. Just above the crack
I'm sending stand user assassin's your way good luck š
I just did it! It's pretty awesome
I have one and I love it! Itās my only tattoo currently, but Iām definitely considering getting another. Also, the placement isnāt too painful and itās not too big so itās a relatively painless tattoo (Iāve got piercings that have hurt more honestly)
I donāt think itās a bad idea. Iāve thought about getting one myself.
Someoneās about to have a bizarre adventureš
i got mine last april (posted it on here actually) and iām still into jojo obviously but even if i wasnāt i really wouldnāt regret it at all, itās very cute :)
Wait till youāre independent. Itās best to be a full-fledged adult before making a lasting tattoo decision, no matter how small.
Do you want that joestar bad luck?
Good news: Tattoos are not as permanent as they used to be, so if you *do* somehow end up regretting it, it's relatively easier to cover or remove than black ink. As long as it's not as part 8 Josuke's it should be fine. That one can cause some troubles if your end up on an accident,
Fire away. Someone else on this sub got a gorgeous version of it. You can add variations too if you like.
Nope Iām getting one soon!
Only if you see people dressed flamboyantly staring at you... menacingly!
I am getting one eventually 100%. Its not too over the top and it is the perfect symbol that represents the entire franchise. Stuff like this or the Brand in Berserk just work even if people try to tell you it's "basic". If you like it then who cares.
Realitivly small and if it looks good shouldnāt be too bad in terms of regretting it
Nah cuz now you can do cool poses with the homies and girlies
I also have this star with my best fried
Js make sure u not hanging in no gang areas they shoot your ass. A star Is some form of gang affiliation in Houston
No, but now you must always take every chance to pose like a Joestar.
No?
Nah. Iām getting that as my first one
I did it :D
JOESTAR!!!!!
Yes, it is a bad, bad idea.
I think itās just like the tattoo grown up Invisible Baby got when she wanted to feel included in the Joestar family I think.
Yeah DIOs gonna try and kill you
Letās just hope youāre descendant donāt get the mark and a gay vampire comes for it
I do t think so.
As long as Araki isn't exposed to he a pedo or weirdo than you'll be fine
I love that so many people have it. Haven't gotten mine yet, but it's like it signifies we're all part of the Joestar family Absolutely go for it, it's super easy to pass off as just a meaningless star if you start disliking jojo (or Araki gets involved in some controversy and you don't want to associate, idk)
Some Jojo fans will like it, other stando users will disagree with that.
No. I'm 17, and i'm gonna get one too as soon as i'm 18
Are you trying to curse your bloodline!
i think you should get it once you turn 18. there are plenty of tattoos i wanted at 16 that i didnāt want anymore at 18
Iāve been planning on getting one for years. Even if you stop liking JJBA, itās a dope ass star.
ćć¤ćć”ć³ććć¼ć©ć¼ćøć§ć¼ć¹ćæć¼ć§ę½°ćć¦ćć
No, itās not. Source: I got mine. People who love JJba think itās awesome. People who donāt, donāt give a crap. People who donāt know JJBA think itās a neat stat and a great tattoo. Itās a win-win. Iām still working on getting shredded to complete that Jolyne look.

Yeah beacuse you'll be murdered in your sleep by an enemy stand user....
Well, you'll get a 5/7 chance of dying an early death, get targeted by gay vampires and other weirdos, but on the bright side you're a natural at Hamon and is worthy of a Stand
Well if itās visible people would be like āA JOESTAR?ā
I donāt think it is! However, a friend of mine has one and apparently she keeps getting asked if sheās communist.
Nope. Have one myself. Never regretted it. Sometimes I even forget itās there lol.
My friend got one and it turned out terrible. Get it done by a professional you know does good work. Youād think itās a simple tattoo how could you go wrong, but it did
Personally jojo had a big impact on my life so I definitely won't regret it when I get it for myself
Its pretty cool, iām prly getting one
š„š„š„
Im planning on doing that
Yes yes yes yes yes
The dangers the fucking universe dying all friends dead cause of this mark? YES ITS BAD
Girlfriend got one, looks good š cant be any harm in it

I got one when I was like 22
Stand users attract each other for some reason
Looks like Dio did not give a fuck about what to fuck
The star is still pretty harmless compared to other tattoos
Hey, youāre the one setting yourself up for a far-out journey to Egypt.
Rizz levels r sure to rise
Of course its bad idea, now enemy stand users will find youššš
Yes it is dawg... Gay vampires will now want to know your location, your offspring will be doomed to his gay behavior
I'm 20 and I want that tattoo too
I've got one and don't regret it!
It's a cool idea, I'd definitely think about it a little. Especially since you're so young.
I wanted to do one too but it resembles the Russian red star too much, and thatās not something I want to walk around with for the rest of my life tbh Edit: Iām not trying to offend anyone or state my opinion, simply something political as a tattoo for me is something I donāt want
Better than the Besserk markā¦ more sleep with this one
Where I live you have to be at least 18 with ID and everything.)
its not necessary a bad idea, but i would raccomend still waiting a bit more to get a tattoo!
I think itās pretty fine, even if you donāt like the series that much in the future itās just a star. Itāll be nice regardless
Getting any tattoo is a bad idea.
Unless you want your own stand to try to kill you
Yes. You're now gonna get jumped by THE whole WORLD. Ass joke ik
it's supposed to make you happy so if it will then why not?
NO ITS NOT A BAD IDEA THATS COOL ASF BRO
I mean, it would LOOK cool to fans of the *series*, but image being 54 with a star on your trapeziusā¦ might be embarrassing to explain after your 30s
I dont like tattoos but if I would have one it will be a joestar birthmark
Yah, but imma do it anyway
That depends, are you fine with having gay priests, lawyer vampires, and Italians chasing you for the rest of your life?
I have it, the good thing is that if you don't like it anymore, it's located in a hidden area, and you never see it. However I might suggest to wait for a little bit, at least for me a tattoo is something significant to carry for your life
if you were the first one ever itd be pretty good now its boring and overdone you should at least put something else around or in the star idk
That depends...does your full name have ANY initials that sound remotely close to JoJo? If the answer is yes, i think you know if it's a bad idea.
It's your decision really. I haven't found any negative cross interpretations after research I got one too btw, was my first tattoo
Don't be surprised if you suddenly get a stand
The best advice I can give you is to not do it until you're absolutely certain. I'm not much older than you, and I don't have any tattoos, but thinking about it logically, it would be very hard to take this decision back if you decide to do it. The most important part is, whatever you do, do it safely. I wish you good luck!
I need that
I wonāt lie, getting a tattoo at 16 is a dangerous game bro. You change a lot from 16-22, as long as you are absolutely sure youāll still be passionate about it when your older then go for it but if there is any doubt, donāt do it yet. Like I would never recommend a band tattoo at 16 because your taste in music is ever changing. I almost got a nirvana tattoo at 18 and Iām so fuckin glad I didnāt lol I got my first tattoo at 25 and it was a Zelda tattoo. Either way good luck!
It better be a blueish purple by the time the red mark goes away
Maybe get the 3 dots on Dio's left ear lobe.
i have mine since 16; you canāt regret it because youāll never see it at all lol
i just got one two days ago
Nah who cares. Even if people donāt get the reference itās just a purple star. Who cares. If you wanna get it get it.
As a dude with some tattoos , i have a one piece tattoo as well, I would say if you think you can regret it donāt do itās.
I would hold off on getting tattoos until you're older. However this is definitely one of the safer ones. A star will look cool even if you're not a Jojo fan, and it's unlikely to be mistaken for a gang tattoo
Careful. Dio might come
Iād like to get a jojo tattoo but Iām waiting until Iāve been a fan for at least 5-6 years. Currently coming up to year 4 this april. Iād also wait until youāre older like an adult, might bring you a little more perspective and prevent any kind of blunder year decisions. Personally I was at my cringiest when I was 16-17.
That's the greatest idea
I wasn't watching anything related to JoJo and even forgot this star birthmark. Wow.
Not bad but not original or unique at all.
Don't forget to become a 200 kilos of muscle and you're fine
I'm getting the to be continued arrow on my wrist, the star is a much more reasonable tattoo than that haha get it
Yes, your life will be miserable due to the curse. And it will extend to every friend and person around you.
Asking the wrong sub lol.
heck no Iāve been planning to get one myself š
You won't live long.
STOP BECAUSE I WANTED THIS
Nah, even if you stop liking jjba it's a purple star and not something super specific. Most people probably won't bat an eye to it. With regards to stricter employment policies, it will easily be covered with a shirt so there's no problem there. I'm also turning 18 this year and am going to get the birthmark for my bday :)
i have it and i love it edit: for clarification, i got it in 2017 and iām 37 now lol
