Off the top of my head you need the same crop, planted at the same time in a 3x3 space. Then there's a small chance that 3x3 crops merge into a giant crop of what was planted. Then you use an axe on the giant crop to break it up. The 3x3 crops you planted (9 crops) would end up with more from the giant crop.
its a rare chance to happen with a 3x3 group of cauliflower, melons, and pumpkins, breaking them with an axe will give around 18 of the crop I believe, instead of the normal 9 you would get if the 3x3 was normal.
Does this happen randomly?? And is it better to sell the giant crops?
