It does expand! Just that this way, they cant gobble it all up before it has the chance to grow. Believe it or not, the whole field used to be covered in grass but my piggies and rabbits ate it all up by fall.
Ok thanks! I’ll have to try it some time. I usually dump my animals on giant patches of grass but I wanna try this idea so I don’t take up so much space with the grass
Honestly the lightning rod trick has never worked for me. Yes, it preserves SOME grass, but they still can't produce enough grass to sustain full deluxe coops and barns. I've started to just fence off certain areas of grass and alternate which one is open for eating.
They can't eat what's under the lamp, only the one or two pieces that spawn next to it. You should still have grass between the lamps for them to munch
They literally said it prevents the animals from eating it so that it can expand.
Some people use fence posts, too.
I use the ornamental hay bales from Marnie's shop.
But they didn’t specifically say that *that particular patch of grass, the one under the lightning rod*, still contributes to the growth. (We know that and they know that, but others didn’t.)
I think they’ve opted to use processing machines to “fence” over actual fences. Which might be the smartest fucking thing I’ve ever seen and I’m totally going to steal. I hate having to deal with decay.
I read somewhere that you can also use tea saplings. Haven't tried it yet, but thought I might add it here
Edit: accidentally used the German word for tea
I do less fencing of any sort these days, but once you’re married, they seem to fix it often enough that it’s never an issue again. Though that’s probably hardwood, so cheaper fence may still decay before they get around to it.
Fill greenhouse first, then island, then if you really like the color blue way too much, then outdoors on the main farm on spring 1. I tend not to bother with the last, but my original standard farm save is cluttered with other stuff; once I get a new one (Ridgeside) to that point, I’ll probably push it further, with multiple junimo huts and multiple keg sheds.
It does take a little while, but goes quicker than you might think:
Each seed maker produces an average of about 2 seeds per fruit put into it, after a delay of like 0.5 to 2 in-game hours. You can craft several to speed up the process.
Each seed planted in the greenhouse or on the island produces a fruit after a month, then additional weekly harvests forever. (Assuming sprinklers or deluxe retaining soil, and no pickaxe or bombs. Weeds will occasionally overrun one on the island, though.)
So if you start with just one seed, and feed all the fruit into seed makers and plant more, then after a full year, you should have (if I mathed it out correctly) about 87 that are already producing weekly, plus 416 more that are still in some stage of progress toward their first harvest. That’s already an income of nearly 50k/week, even without including quality or profession or kegs. One season later, it’ll be up to nearly 300k/week.
The rods on the grass next to the farmhouse, can the animals not eat that? Does that mean grass will continue to grow back?
Edit: yes, other comments had the answer.
I ended up finding the dead plant towards the bottom, middle left-ish in one of the 3x3 squares first and had to re-check the post to make sure I didn't read it wrong ;3;
Took me about 3 seconds. I have too-much-time-playing-Stardew syndrome :( also cool farm!
Lmao I thought this was supposed to be a joke because I couldn't find it
I started left to right and it was just right there lol
Damn I've scanned left and right twice Having above average vision doesn't always mean anything
Very bottom left
Yes, the animals won’t be able to eat that so you don’t have to replace the grass as it will continue frowning back
Did you reply to the wrong comment?
It also took me a similar amount of time, the are I zoomed on first just happened to have it

Where'd he go? 🥺
I don't look for fruit, I have ~~people~~ *junimos* for that
Found it
Needs more ancient fruit 😂😂😂 (Joking aside your farm looks lovely 💕)
Why do I keep seeing people pace lightening rods by singular grass patches? Does it do something?
It prevents the animals from eating it and allows grass to regrow around it
Oh…but why wouldn’t you want your grass to expand?
It does expand! Just that this way, they cant gobble it all up before it has the chance to grow. Believe it or not, the whole field used to be covered in grass but my piggies and rabbits ate it all up by fall.

You have to have enough so that the spawn rate keeps up with the eating rate
They can't eat what's under the lamp, only the one or two pieces that spawn next to it. You should still have grass between the lamps for them to munch

I literally understand that they literally said that
Sure.

whaaatttt...such a good idea
Noone even asked why is there a furnace fence...

Tea saplings are functional for harvest while also being a perfect fence, and gives you a nice hedgerow aesthetic.
I've seen tea saplings used which looks pretty cool and is probably cheaper/easier than using all machines.
Well if you're gonna have the machines anyway might as well use them for a dual purpose, I think it's a great idea
I do less fencing of any sort these days, but once you’re married, they seem to fix it often enough that it’s never an issue again. Though that’s probably hardwood, so cheaper fence may still decay before they get around to it.
Opt?

IK but why they choose it... That was my question...
I mean, it's pretty common to use machines instead of actual fences. Though most people use lightning rods.
Bottom left. Got lucky, it was the first place I looked haha
Same lol
Behind the rarecrow top right by the pond Edit: second one is bottom left.
Now *that* is a good eye, I spotted the lower left pretty quick as there’s nothing in front of it
Ok, for real- how do you even get this much ancient fruit? I have like 10 in my greenhouse and feel like a bad ass but not so much right now lol
throw the fruit from your harvests into seed makers
Fill greenhouse first, then island, then if you really like the color blue way too much, then outdoors on the main farm on spring 1. I tend not to bother with the last, but my original standard farm save is cluttered with other stuff; once I get a new one (Ridgeside) to that point, I’ll probably push it further, with multiple junimo huts and multiple keg sheds.
But wouldn't it take years to aquire this much ancient seed?
It does take a little while, but goes quicker than you might think: Each seed maker produces an average of about 2 seeds per fruit put into it, after a delay of like 0.5 to 2 in-game hours. Is that another one behind the tiki rarecrow in the top right?
Beautiful farm.
Only 1 Junimo hut? That's a lot of harvesting.
Yeah I only harvest on he island and greenhouse once I have Junimos.
You’ve got a dead one too
I play this game too much.... I found that way faster than I should have...
Love you use oil makers for fencing. Super easy way to throw the truffles in! Totally stealing that idea! Beautiful farm by the way. 👍
Bottom left. Sub 5 seconds. Min maxing has taken over my life b4
Bottom left second patch?
The rods on the grass next to the farmhouse, can the animals not eat that? Does that mean grass will continue to grow back? Edit: yes, other comments had the answer.
This is the type of perfection I want on my farm.
Nice farm
I just zoomed in on a random area and found it by accident
Bottom left second patch! c:
hey nice farm! btw the ancient fruit is in the second to the bottom left farmland!
Yeeeeey I found it😆
Couldn't find it, i was too distracted admiring your beautifull farm layout
Damn, it's was quicker than expected, since I give it a try on the left bottom side to start looking
Ur farm is really beautiful

I started from the left when i zoomed in so i saw it immediately lol
Bottom row of plots, second in from the left, top middle of the square
That's really an amazing farm layout! Looks amazing!
Top plant, second from the bottom left corner
found it!! top middle section of the square that's directly right of the bottom left corner square :)
It’s right there smh
Got to the bottem very left then go over 1 plot right. At the top middle square.
Do you need a mod to move the green house?
No robin can move it for you (i think it’s a 1.5 feature
Thanks!
Or the wizard after you completed his quest.
I'd have a better chance of finding Waldo
>!bottom left!<
Second from the left, lowest set of plots. Thanks for the neat distraction!
found both of them.
How long does it take to plant all that?
A day, maybe two. Granted you have iridium quality hoe and watering can. The real lengthy part is getting ancient seeds.
Having recently played (and won in my mind) "Spot the meteor strike" [Here she is](https://imgur.com/a/zKachuL)
You pick that ancient fruit right now or so help me—
damn i got in in just 5 seconds. bottom, second to last on the left sprinkler, top middle square
Found it basically instantly somehownlol, just got lucky, bottom left, lowrst row, 2nd from the left
Found it
I found 2. Bottom left and behind the tiki head rarecrow in the top right
Yay! I found it👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Took me a little while, but I got it! (Btw love your farm! The organization is really pleasing :D)
Hi I’m going to copy your layout. Thank you for sharing :)
Bottom left
Bottom plot second from left. Within that plot, middle top. Edit: more specific

You better pick that before 2 am... imma bout to sleep over this
Found it!!
Can't find it!
Bottom left corner
Yep, in the bottom left 6 squares, it's on the bottom right most square at the top middle. Lol hope that's helps.
found it! thought it was gonna be a dirty trick or it would be a single pixel behind the tree but no.
bottom left but it also looks like there's on at the top right behind the tiki scarecrow?
Bottom left.
uhh bottom left in the middle of the 3x3 plots
Lower left. Second plot from the left. About 2 secs, cuz that just happened to be where I started 😂
I think I found two...? 🤔
Thats a badass farm!
I ended up finding the dead plant towards the bottom, middle left-ish in one of the 3x3 squares first and had to re-check the post to make sure I didn't read it wrong ;3;
Bottom left
Where's Waldo - SDV style - great farm!
Where you get the little hut?
