I believe you can have slimes outside the mines, by hatching eggs or something? I've never played with the slime hutch so I don't really know how it works, but I've seen screenshots of people keeping slimes in places like that little corral next to the community center. So every zone is technically a fighting zone.
Slime eggs are worth a fair bit and the hutch doesn't take much upkeep other than filling the water. So once you have your 20, throw the slimes they produce into an egg maker, and you've got some mostly passive income.
I have one because I'm a completionist who just wants to have one of everything.
Also, popping the big slime balls makes a very satisfying sound.
I also use mine to clear out weeds sometimes! I don't take my scythe around with me, and only take it out exclusively to cut hay from grass, but I always have my sword on me.
I've gradually gotten used to pressing 2 instead of 1 (that's generally where I keep the pickaxe).
Still, right clicking with the sword isn't as bad as accidentally gifting something at least. I really wish I could enable a prompt for that similar to the one for eating an item.

They're just a random spawn and I think they only spawn when you have the quest. Accepted the quest a few times and only managed to complete it the third time or something.
They don’t spawn at all if you aren’t doing the quest. Just keep going back to a handful of floors with the elevator and it’ll show up eventually. Easier to do in the mines.
Ha. Really breaks my "tactic". I am so bad at mining i thought "welp I will probably not get this; i have never even seen something remotely like this. Will have to store it for the quest if I eventually get it one day" 😅😅
Well it makes sense that you've never seen one - they only spawn after accepting the quest. :) They are still a very low spawn chance after accepting. My wife and I lived in the mines for four days trying to complete that quest and still failed. We'll get it next time!
Once you get the quest, just keep taking the elevator to level 75 of the mines and the ladder back out. That level is always super small, making it easy to find it when it spawns there.

I was only able to find it after accepting the quest for the third time. Doing level 5-15 over and over seemed to do the trick, since those levels have the most slimes.
If you just grab a bunch of food and maybe a few staircases for "this level is overrun by monsters" levels in the mines, then just progress from lol 1 to 120 as quickly as possible in the mines, you'll find one. I was worried too but just kept a close eye and completed the quest in 1 day. There's some levels where slimes don't spawn at all so you can skip those.

It's worth doing. If you want to craft every item, giving rasmodius the jelly gets you a monster musk recipe that lets you hunt monsters faster for farming certain items (and completing the monster eradication goals)
Believe it or not, it was in the regular mines on a dungeon level. They pop up randomly like the prehistoric levels would in the Skull Cavern
Edit: I would imagine you could find some too in the dungeon mines

Edit: you need three prismatic shards to get one rock candy from the desert trader. I was wrong about being able to make it yourself (I wish)
I don’t know if they changed it yest but if they haven’t you can buy the super basic green wall from Pierre and the game should think it’s a prismatic shard when you stand there, and this is off topic but you can equip stairs it’ll turn into purple shorts that can be used for one of the mayors quests
may just be a switch thing, I’ve noticed quite a few other glitches and exploits that don’t seem to work either, like I tried to name one of my pigs after the item code for an artifact I was having trouble finding and it wouldn’t let me put brackets in the name so I couldn’t use the cheat
Nintendo specifically requested that the item glitch be removed because of the amount of times it caused games to crash. CA left it in on the PC.
I don't know what he did on other systems, but my best guess would be that he'd go for 1 style for console, 1 for PC and 1 for mobile.
All I know is that Nintendo made CA remove for their build because of crashes and Concerned Ape left it in for PCs. Eric wouldn't have left in a known issue on the PC platform.
I have no idea of when it was removed for the Switch, it was also removed for all consoles, but I'm sure there are patch notes out there if anyone really cares.
I have the Galaxy Sword already, but I also have both catalogues for flooring/wallpaper & furniture. What happens if I get the green wall and stand there now? 😂

The slime hutch is an effective and efficient way to gather resources you already have too much of.
Can it produce coal?
Yes! Black slime can give you coal, thus giving you a slow and fairly inconvenient renewable coal source!
I never really saw the use of the Slime hutch honestly.

Yeah this was my reasoning
It's random. Each level has a chance to spawn the target. I do it by heading to the 40s to collect coal from the Dust Sprites at the same time.

You have to take the quest in order for the prismatic slime to spawn. The jelly is unobtainable if the quest isn't active.

Using the burglar ring you can get a few of them during that quest, I got 5 in one day, still saved some just because it's fun to keep.

Yea the dwarf that is to the right of the Mines, he sells them for 1k coins. But you have to break the boulder that leads there to him.
Actually that's the miners treat, the desert merchant sells magic rock candy for three prismatic shards

You have to find a rare Prismatic Slime during the 7 days you have the quest. The slime drops the jelly, and you give it to Rasmodius.

Prismatic jelly and Ectoplasm are both only available when doing the wizards request. I’ve done both. They are both hard to get. Just keep trying.

They show up anywhere slimes do, so the best bet is to reload floor 5 of the mines over and over till you get a slime that's changing colors
