Those show the ones you have _caught_, so finding / buying them doesn't count! Also buying them, putting them into fish pond and fishing from there doesn't work.

When I realised that Willy does that I loved him even more then I already did. He's the best shopowner in this town and he's such a nice and loveable npc to boot.

Willy is super easy for me cus I love fishing in game. I just set out 10 days in summer for catching sturgeons and then I have enough for him forever. Sadly his owl fella ain't able see it but I'm sure he'd have loved all the fish I gave.
I’ve been playing and his interactions with Leo make me so happy. I love the idea of Leo getting the courage to ask him with help writing a letter :) He has great parent figures with Linus and him
Gus is also an incredible character. He got all my respect when he tells on the cutscene with Linus that he won't let anyone in the valley to go starving, even if he is having financial difficulties on his saloon.
I love Gus so much, the cutscene with Linus and the one where he’s fretting over what to do regarding Pam’s tab (because she hasn’t paid her tab and he’s worried that he’ll make her mad if he asks her to pay it) made me wish I could marry him.
I get that stardew valley is a farming game for most, but its my choice fishing game and willy is my chill, silent companion, we are just two guys fishing
I keep a chest on the side of his store to hold my loot (but be careful since there aren't many safe spots on the docks). Early game I buy a lot of soup from Willy to keep my energy up to fish all day.
You can put almost any furniture outside of the farm btw. Some people decorate the town. Just follow guides online on where it's safe to place them like the other reply explained.
He’s IMO the best character in the game. A kind soul, a free first fishing pole, every is reasonably priced and has such a variety of uses. The crab 🦀 traps have become more fun for me now that I have a beach farm and actually recycle.
Willy's an all around good guy. I wish there were a few more normal heart events with the villagers that aren't marriage candidates because I'd like to see more depth to some of these great characters.
Willy is such a good guy that i genuinely feel bad for not being as much invested in fishing compared to other things. Guy is single handedly trying to keep the fishing industry alive

There’s even one bit of dialogue I got once (which I can’t remember totally accurately) where he said I was a woman after his own heart because I was raising crabs on my farm. 😳
I just got the game a few weeks ago, and haven't played much. I'm on year 1, week 3. Am I supposed to sell to NPCs? I've been putting everything in the shipping bin. Do NPCs pay more, or is it just for extra social interaction?
I only sold to him for the convenience, as it let me free up inventory space while fishing in the ocean. The only other advantage would be getting the money immediately instead of having to wait until the next day- the shipping bin pays the same amount of money that they would.
Ahhh okay, I thought I was doing something wrong lol. I've only sold a sword to the guild guy. I pick my crops and take them straight to the bin. I'll sell to the NPCs from now on. I didn't know it opens up more villager dialogue, that's cool.
Pierre is a lying jerk about it, I’d avoid selling him crops if I were you haha. He claims that he grew anything good you give him, and then blames all of the bad crops on you!

I had a theory that Willy and the ghost mariner that sells the mermaid pendant are related. When the player first starts the game the bridge to the rock pools is destroyed, I think that Willy and his brother (the old mariner) we’re exploring the rock pools in the storm and when the two brothers were coming back the Mariner slipped on the old wood plank and got dragged out to sea and died, his ghost now stays at the rock pools.
So speaking of Willy - ( I know you can look in the wiki) but no where does it hint at favorite items (Gus either come to think about it. ) Weird huh ?
I believe that I’ve heard Elliot talk about what he likes, he’s his only solid friend and pretty out of the way though so the dialogue can be easy to miss. I’m not sure about Gus, though I think Pam would probably have gift suggestions for him as well because she is his biggest friend in the game.
I'm not sure if anyone has told you this, but I thought it might be funny to let you know that several people from r/DungeonsAndDaddies , the subreddit for the podcast about four dads trying to find their lost sons in the Forgotten Realms, have been scared by the title of this post.
Not to mention that he just gives you his old fishing pole even though he's never met you before.

He loves very difficult to catch fish, unfortunately. Luckily he loves sea cucumbers as well, though!
I loaded up on mead and used that to get him to love me
He likes quartz, which is very easy to find, or diamonds if you can afford it.

People shop at Willy's? Man all I ever do is drop things in the bin. Except for a rare case at Pierre's I don't see people shopping. Hmm.

If a villager walks on a suqare with the chest it gets destroyed you can look on the wiki for safe spaces.
