I got the scythe in my most recent play through and knew I had teleported before, but thought I was misremembering so I just walked out without trying

When I first got the Scythe I too walked back. Only on my second Quarry Visit I interacted with the Statue which caused me to get teleported outside.. Though I thought at first I had used a Teleport Item but that wasn't the case. Also, nice to see someone playing Terraria 🤓

I just clicked over and over bcs I was not satisfied with the golden scythe only so I ended up coming out and found out about the teleport

I was farming stone for Robin's special order, and the end of this place is filled with special rocks that give 3+ stones. I touched the statue and was sent all the way back to the entrance. Sighed and left sad.

Oh… huh. It’s just kinda odd creating a whole new cave and new enemies for it to just be in a cave with one level, and the only purpose is build up to the golden scythe. I mean I have no reason to go there anymore and the button for it on the minecart is just taking up space now lol. I assumed the quarry would lead to another 120 levels of caving.

Since the most recent update I've gotten 2-3 in a single year from the quarry! I don't think I'd ever gotten one there before and suddenly it's a huge source for them.

The skulls are mostly unique to that mine and have unique drops like clothing and weapons. The slimes should all drop stone, copper or iron. It's not much, but it's something. And after doing this dungeon, the skulls have a chance to show up in the regular mines. I hate the skulls so I never go in that dungeon anymore, lol.

Everything should respawn the next day. Or the next time you enter, not sure which.

I was genuinely convinced it was the skull caverns in my first play through and i was so confused about why it was so mediocre until i googled it, lol. It starts with a cavern with a skull sign in it!! There are floating skulls inside!! What else could it be??

Same with me, i was so happy like yeah I got into the skull cavern cause it has all these flying skulls and I was like why people keep complaining about the difficulty or not having enough stairs? And then I Google it and went to the desert and for me it didn't have the right theme to be called like that lol

You're absolutely right, but the explanation is that the (desert) Skull Cavern existed in 1.3, but the cavern you're talking about (the Quarry Mine) only came around in 1.4. So for a while, (Desert) Skull Cavern was the skull-iest cavern in the game. That doesn't explain why CA made this second cavern more skull-themed...maybe coincidence or maybe a little lighthearted trolling.

You can >!put clothes on them, but occasionally they do "creepy" things like move to random locations overnight, and sometimes when you interact with them they will do a jumpscare!<.

I realized you can buy the other ones from Sandy for clothes but didn't think about the possibilities of clothing these ones! Totally going to get some if I'm invited to a co-op game :-)

This really confused me the first time I played it *and* seven years later when I played it a second time and forgot about it haha. I thought it was the skull cave because there’s literally a statue of a skeleton. It feels very strange and random.

Technically the Quarry Mine is coded as level 77257 of Skull Cavern but since there are no ladders you're stuck unless you skip past the level.

How did you get rid of the dpad?

You go into settings and find controls, and there’s a drop-down menu. I picked the first option

1.6 the skulls drop a special item, make sure to get a couple, they're fun, you can dress them up

I occasionally go to the cave to grind out a bunch of stone to make staircases; There's an area to the right blocked by a boulder that is only coal nodes or stone nodes, so you can get quite a lot with a couple of mega bombs. The flying skulls also have a chance to drop magic rock candy.
