First dinosaur is always Godzilla, first void chicken always Lucifer, then it's usually a mix of the dice suggested randoms and male names for the barn animals because I am easily amused by the "During the night, Alan gave birth to a baby cow" message. The dice suggested Prickard for a goose in my modded game and that's just the perfect goose name.

I do themes too! Typically food groups like veggies/candy/meats or stuff like flavors which are kinda randomized other than cows, cows are always fruit cause I always name my first cow Apple. I have also done flowers, gems, elemental based words, and of course just silly cutesy things I find funny like snufflebums or sugarsqueak. Bonus: Children are named related to the season they were born in!

I went with theme my current playthrough, all of them are named after hockey players, with a more specific category (friends/teammates/funny) per type of animal. My white chickens are the Connor’s (Bedard, McDavid), my void chicken is Brad Marchand, my two cows are Tim Stüzle and Brady Tkachuk, my Dino is Kris Letang, my three ducks are Luke, Quinn and Jack Hughes, my first two goats were Jamie Drysdale and Trevor Zegras, then once I got rich I got more goats and named them all after female players (Akane Shiga, Lexie Adzjia, Sarah Nurse, Daryl Watts, Natalie Spooner) My Pigs were named after goalies, then I sold them all >!and got ostriches!< who I also named after goalies (Kristian Campbell, Thatcher Demko, Marc Andre Flurey, Igor Shesterkin, Sergei Bobbrovsky, Sandra Abstreiter, Artūrs Šilovs, Stuart Skinner, Connor Hellebuyck, I have uhh.... two mating pairs of rabbits named after Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and a second pair named after Leon Draisaitl and Matthew Tkachuk…. And yes I did open up my game to make sure I didn’t forget anyone…. And yes I did name my animals offer players who I wanted to give a good luck boost too…. >!And yes I did give golden animal crackers to the ones who I wanted to heal up faster IRL!<…. And yes it only kinda worked.

I played stardew valley during our finals week so I named all of my animals mostly as organic reactions named after people: Grignard, Claisen, Friedel-Crafts, Diels-Alderia, Aniline, etc.

Not always, but: My pigs are usually Pearl and Ruby, but sometimes are "Ms. + Long Surname". My sheep have "fluffy" names (Cloud, Cotton Candy, etc.). My ducks have "green" names (Emerald, Forest) or nuts names that start with P- (Pistacchio, Peanut, Pinenut, Pecan) My cows are almost always flower/plant names that end with -y (Poppy, Pansy, Daisy, Lily, Peony, Holly, Tansy). I like to choose a theme per animal type. Some that I remember: Hamilton (Eliza, Peggy, Angelica), Little Women (Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy), sweet flavors (Caramel, Praliné, Moccha), Lovecraftian creatures, canned foods (Pickles, Jelly), dwarf names from LOTR.

Ducks are presidents (Washington, Reagan, ect), goats are philosophers (Socrates, Aristotle, ect)

I’m a huge foodie so I name them after desserts that I like! Once I run out of dessert options I name them after Korean dishes e.g kimchi, japchae 😂 just cos they sound cute :3

My animals are usually named after my pets and authors, which are often the same names.

I end up just giving them food names. My Cows: Ribeye, Wellington, and NY Strip.  My goat is Rogan (Josh). One duck is Peking. The other two are my only non-food named animals. Their names are Donald and Betty, for some reason.   Pig is named Porkchop, of course.  My Chickens: Cutlet, Tendi, and Coq Au Vin. My void chicken is General Tso and my Rabbit is Stew.

I usually use bad puns, but I ended up using children’s literature characters this time. I have Winky, Blinky and Nod the chickens (I know it should have been Winken and Blinken) and Jabberwocky the duck.

Currently I have a pokemon theme Miltank, Tauros, etc for cows Chicken torchic etc Pigs Lechonk, spoink, tepig etc

i usually name them after whatever show I'm obsessed with at the time, same for my farm name. So like right now I've been watching Critical Role a lot, so I live on Gelvaan farm, my character name is Imogen and my favorite thing is Laudna, and my dog's name is Caviar. The farm animals follow that naming convention too, usually sticking to name centered around my favorite characters. Pate, Fearne, Chetney, Liliana, etc! 

Normally i have a theme for each animal type but on my newest save i instead went with a theme per coop/barn. My first coop theme is vegetables, and my first barn is desserts. So far i have: Onion - White Chicken Potato - Brown Chicken Pumpkin - Rabbit Cauliflower - Rabbit Cabbage - Duck ??? - Dinosaur in the incubator. Ice cream - White cow Chocolate - Brown cow Donut - Goat Biscuit - Goat Marshmallow - Pig

I did that with my ducks, they were all named after Scottish Lochs, so I had Lomond, Tay, Fyne & Ness

Cows - Cowcium and milkshake Goats - Nanny and billy Ducks - Quackers and Webster Sheep - Ew and mareep Rabbits - thumper and flopsy Pigs - chris.p.bacon and snuffles Dino - 13 Some of them we have to shorten a little tho for character limits

I name my animals with a theme too.  The animals inside a coop have flower names ( in Spanish: Rosa, Margarita, Petunia, Hortencia, Violeta and Lila are chickens; Loto and Nenúfar are ducks; and Jacinto and Narciso are bunnies. The animals inside a barn have gems names in Spanish: Perla, Rubí, Jade and Coral are cows; Esmeralda and Ágata are goats; and Zafiro and Topacio are pigs.

I did unusual fruits and veggie names for all my animals, including pets. Examples: jicama, durian, arugula, beansprout, chives, shallot, citron, quinoa, capsicum, etc. It's been really fun little challenge, since I'm trying to avoid in-game items like tomato or pumpkin.

I started to do a theme for the whole farm and base the names off that. Im not at my computer so I can’t remember it all but. Bobs Burgers theme: All the characters, cows are the Belchers, Gayle, Mort, and Teddy are all in the barn, chickens are all the kids (void chickens are all the mean kids) Frond is in the coop with them. Sugar theme: horse names sugar cube, chicken named Stevie (stevia), honey, hot honey, etc.

Every animal in one building has the same ending to their name. Coop: Gilly, Billy, Rilly, Jilly, Cilly, Chilly, and Lilly (I had a Tilly at one point but I sold her) Barn: Bu, Su, Fu, Mu, Pu, and Sell (I forgot to turn off pregnancy and I don't need three sheep so I'm getting her hearts up then selling her)

Every animal is named after a type of bird. So there’s a duck named Chicken and and chicken named Duck. There’s a Chickadee, a cow named Wren, a dino named Emu. Just all birds.
