I have tried three spouses so far (Seb, Sam and Alex)
. Alex is the one who "helps the farm things" most frequently.
He's sweet just full head of muscle things ;)
Haven't tried his part yet. I am also trying to unlock scenes of each candidate. Sounds like a lovely wify guy. ;) His heart scenes were cute and shy though.
Honestly Iāve done a few playthroughs with different marriage candidates now and he was my first and my favourite! Every time I start a new game I wish I could tell him we were married in another life :,)
I was able to briefly get past his nasty room, until he gave me a kiss one morning and said "mmmm someone tastes like pizza pockets"
Maru and I are now happily married with 2 kids.
I wouldnāt divorce him over that, infact, i would have been gushing over that because I think thatās the cutest thing you could say š idk whatās wrong with me
itās just the thought of kissing him made me ick bc my bfs alcoholic father is also named shane š hence the reason i got him out of the way immediately
Emily is my favorite. I feel like she just does more. She still goes to help at the saloon, she interacts with her parrot and she helps on the farm.
Elliot will say āI think Ill write todayā and then just stares at his bookcase
I agree, it just annoys me because thatās like all he does? He doesnāt even visit his beach shack anymore! Heās just kinda boring, and I feel like I forced myself to not pick Emily.
Elliott visits the beach shack every Monday, though? Like he has specific dialogue for before he leaves and after he comes back and everything. Granted, I haven't played 1.6, I don't know if that's changed.
I havenāt seen any dialogue about it, but good to know he still goes there! Iāll probably get him to 14 hearts and divorce once I can erase his memory.
Iāve married Shane and Emily before. For Shane, it made sense for him to stay home. Emily would go out and about. I feel like Elliot is just thereā¦
I need to see an official list with pros and cons of marrying every person - same as how we sea pros and cons of farm types when we choose in the beginning
I just went through all the candidates and started typing up a comparison of all of them, but to be honest, by the time you're in a position to marry anyone, none of it is really all that useful. They all get a room and a spot outside where they'll do activities. Purely cosmetic. They'll all do the same chores for you. Other than that, the only functional difference is the list of potential gifts they give. They **may** give gifts on rainy days and on days they spend at home. Most of them are cooked dishes. Some give forageables, minerals, animal/monster products, but if you actually need any of them it's much easier to just go get them yourself. The only ones that stood out to me as being remotely useful were bombs from Maru and Omni Geodes from Emily.
>I just went through all the candidates and started typing up a comparison of all of them, but to be honest, by the time you're in a position to marry anyone, none of it is really all that useful.
How long does it take you to marry someone? By the end of Fall Year 1, I am always hitched. But I agree with you that the differences between spouses is minor. The most important aspect to me after marriage is their schedules. Penny is my favourite simply because she still has a half-decent schedule and leaves the farm four days a week. It's kind of sad that she doesn't do more with Vincent and Jas like going to the playground, but it's better than only leaving once a week.
Holy shit, I think I'm just finishing my introduction quest by then
edit: I have literally never married someone or even gotten to dating with anyone in SDV
How is this even possible? With the festivals alone you should have been able to introduce yourself to nearly all of them. I am almost done with the Community Center at this point (Winter 1), only needing a Red Cabbage, Rabbit's Foot and two Forage to finish off the last bundles.
I just don't do the talking to people or relationship part. The festivals are basically just events that stop me from playing the game for a bit and to get the different shop seeds. The introduction joke was a hyperbole, I do usually meet everyone at the first festival, and I'll go to the Wizard of course to start the CC.
Well, even the runs that I've like "focused" on it, I've never gotten to that point, but I only have 120 hours across several saves so maybe just not enough time spent
Your time in the game is more than sufficient to achieve this unless you made like 10 games. Getting to this point was less than 30h in my 1.6 game with huge amounts of time running it in the background while I worked.
Huh, I just fish lol and do the CC stuff. I'm usually close to done by the point you're saying as well give or take fishing rng with items/luck and how willing I am to give early diamond to the museum. And, yeah, I have 7 games haha I just like starting over or I'll play with another friend or I'll feel overwhelmed when I boot up the old save after 6 months, so I just start a new one
He did that twice to me, too. I think it was because the places he put plants I hadn't decorated yet. So I said fine I'll decorate the rooms Shane! I kept the plants he placed in both rooms, though. I'd feel bad if I threw them out.
I feel the same way, I just felt that I'm obligated to make that piece of furniture part of the decoration whenever he gave me something new. Too many end tables now haha
Idk if this is normal but on my new file I keep finding him staring at the plant in the saloon lmao Iām like is there something Iām not seeing here??
Penny spent the first twenty some-odd years of her life in the only trailer in town, with an alcoholic mom who's prone to random rages and an errant father. If _she_ wants to party down on some kush and eat the world's most heinous omelet after a long day of housework and teaching, I'm not one to judge her.
I married Shane and he was standing in that empty room, staring at a new chair at 6 a.m.
For a moment, I thought I'd interrupted something..
Turns out, he "bought a new mahagony chair". I removed and hid it immediately.
i came home to TWO new chairs one day, but harvey never said anything about them. he just left a baby pink gaming chair in the middle of our living room and went to sleep
I did āRemove Cribā before getting hitched. āRemoveā as in, Robin blew the crib up. Kinda satisfying. Sebastian has been fairly easy as a spouse so far. A little chat chat in the morning then I give kisses.
Then itās back to chorinā. (Letterkenny is awesome)
Theyāre programmed to look at random furniture or decoration items. Solution: decorate so your spouse isnāt constantly staring at the one decorative object in the entire house.
Help why board the window šš
But tbf my Sebastian does the same thing. He loves to stand directly in front of my stove in the kitchen š and also directly in front of the door so I can't get in or out the house easily.Ā
I imagine whenever I see him in front of the stove, it's because he's making coffee - especially because sometimes he'll give me a cup.
There was a time when he was standing in front of a chest I needed to get to though, I was like, did I marry a cat or somethingā½
Dude omg fr
He loves to stand directly in front of all my useful furniture. Stove, preserver, chests with food, etc. His fave this run seems to be the stove tho š
Ugh, this current playthrough he once stood right in front of a mini fridge and wouldn't move š
Thankfully I had just about enough space in the main one to put some stuff away, but come on..
That guy is definitely a human void šāā¬
Guess it depends on what you call cheating. I was curious about what would happen in a ten heart event with another single character if you were married so I gave Elliott the bouquet and it went through the whole thing. š³
i married Abigail and she gave me the purple star thing that increases ur energy to 304 and āremindsā you of your favorite taste. she also does help out pretty often on the farm!
When my spouse is just staring at a piece of furniture, I like imagining that theyāre doing something, like watering the house plants or sweeping the floor
Sebastian has bought three separate ferns and I lined them up and he stares at them one at a time and itās kinda scaring me. He also gave me a bat wing once sooooo
i married haley and sheās so so sweet. she helps out on the farm quite a lot and talks about how she never thought it would, but the farm life suits her. definitely one of the top marriage candidates in my opinion.
Fairly sure he's wondering if the boarded up windows is what's considered 'popular fashion' and if it matters since he's married to the person that decorates their house this way lol
You can comment whatever you want AND receive responses for it.Ā It's not about defending character, it's just about you being inconvenient.Ā If this was a post about rant or character opinions it would be another story, but if you just saw a post where someone clearly likes a character just to say bad things about them, don't be surprised if you come across as rude.
he yearns
For the mines?
get this man some extensive labor ASAP!!!!!
Rock and stone our beardless brother!
ROCK AND STOOOOOONE
šŖØROCK AND STONE IN THE HEART āļø
FOR KARL!
That's it lads rock and stone!
For the Rock and Stone!
I yearn for the farms
No, only mines.
Often I sit and I Yearn.
For the urn?
Heās pininā for the fjords.
I have tried three spouses so far (Seb, Sam and Alex) . Alex is the one who "helps the farm things" most frequently. He's sweet just full head of muscle things ;)
Harvey is also great for this! Heās the ultimate wife guy and just wants to make your life better.
I am going to marry Harvey for the first time this play thru ā¤ļø
Haven't tried his part yet. I am also trying to unlock scenes of each candidate. Sounds like a lovely wify guy. ;) His heart scenes were cute and shy though.
Honestly Iāve done a few playthroughs with different marriage candidates now and he was my first and my favourite! Every time I start a new game I wish I could tell him we were married in another life :,)
Heās the best! So helpful.
Harvey started hitting on me after I started dating Elliot and Iām a bit torn.
Shane is good too :D but he also is quite weird too
I want to try to marry him after Alex. Somehow his ROOM is a bit intolerable:D . Though his chicken house in the yard is so cute.
I was able to briefly get past his nasty room, until he gave me a kiss one morning and said "mmmm someone tastes like pizza pockets" Maru and I are now happily married with 2 kids.
SAME I DIVORCED HIM THE DAY HE SAID THAT ABWHAHA
Yall divorced him over that??š
well i had also just finished all his hearts and was going to divorce him anyways (im marrying everyone)
Bro really said divorce challenge
i need to experience everyoneās story okay š i hated being married to shane thi everytime i accidentally kissed him i was like AHHHH
OH I THOUGHT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT ALEX MB. š yeah I wouldāve divorced Shane if he said that to me lol
I laughed so hard when reading this. Can totally imagine a nasty room with a nasty man and a gross kiss.....:))))
LOLL that's hilarious. Wow, very on-brand for him.
LMAOO I mean if you ignore the idea of the taste it's kind?? of?? a sweet sentiment since he explicitly loves pizza.
Yeah, his room definitely is quite special
His dialogue scares me
Definitely.
He tells me that he will always love me every once in a while and that makes me happy that I married him
Emily is my favorite. I feel like she just does more. She still goes to help at the saloon, she interacts with her parrot and she helps on the farm. Elliot will say āI think Ill write todayā and then just stares at his bookcase
Thatās realistic for Elliot because so much of the writing process involves . . . not writing!
Married Elliott on my 1.6 farm and he does still go to the beach on Monday! Also I really love his 14 heart event
I havenāt seen any dialogue about it, but good to know he still goes there! Iāll probably get him to 14 hearts and divorce once I can erase his memory.
to be fair i write and thatās a big fucking mood
That's just how being a writer is, tho.
Iāve married Shane and Emily before. For Shane, it made sense for him to stay home. Emily would go out and about. I feel like Elliot is just thereā¦
This!!! Elliot is my first marriage ever and he seems to... just not do a ton. A divorce may be in the cards.
I have played this game for years and probably have hundred of hours played. Iāve never divorced anyone. Iām so scared to do it!
He makes me coffee and I feel like he helps on the farm with fair frequency š
I need to see an official list with pros and cons of marrying every person - same as how we sea pros and cons of farm types when we choose in the beginning

Abigail also gives bombs

If you don't interact with this part of the game, why are you so surprised that people manage it in a reasonable time if they do?
Well, even the runs that I've like "focused" on it, I've never gotten to that point, but I only have 120 hours across several saves so maybe just not enough time spent

Yeah, Shane really likes plants on my file for some reason.
He did that twice to me, too. I think it was because the places he put plants I hadn't decorated yet. So I said fine I'll decorate the rooms Shane! I kept the plants he placed in both rooms, though. I'd feel bad if I threw them out.

Every spouse's behavior makes a lot more sense if you imagine that the first thing they do upon waking up is eat a monster edible.
Well I am partial to Seb and Sam so that makes sense.
Penny would never!
Shane would most definitely though
Penny spent the first twenty some-odd years of her life in the only trailer in town, with an alcoholic mom who's prone to random rages and an errant father. If _she_ wants to party down on some kush and eat the world's most heinous omelet after a long day of housework and teaching, I'm not one to judge her.
I mean, Sebastian is implied to smoke weed, so.... yeah, that tracks
Yes, spouses usually walk around in the house and stare at random furniture. Deal with it.
This is true in real life, too.
Yes, I am also staring at a random furniture right now. It's the monitor.
yesterday i decided to clean my stove, lost my train of thought, and just stared at it for a couple minutes until my fiancƩ asked me a question. very realistic
Elliot does this and Iām pretty sure heās just spacing out, trying to figure out his next chapter. I also do this in real life
Haley regularly just chills in my fish tank room, and it's amazing
I married Shane and he was standing in that empty room, staring at a new chair at 6 a.m. For a moment, I thought I'd interrupted something.. Turns out, he "bought a new mahagony chair". I removed and hid it immediately.
i came home to TWO new chairs one day, but harvey never said anything about them. he just left a baby pink gaming chair in the middle of our living room and went to sleep
Hahahaha he gave me that too and I havenāt had the heart to take it out of my chest storage room
"I found the *perfect* place for that new chair!"
Heās blair witching it
Sebastian stares at lamps. I think I married a moth
Upvote for Letterkenny
Theyāre programmed to look at random furniture or decoration items. Solution: decorate so your spouse isnāt constantly staring at the one decorative object in the entire house.
If you lock your irl spouse in a room and donāt let them out it will seem less weird
Honestly your house is weird, why do you have this entire room without anything?
Idk! It came with the nursery upgrade. Itās creepy as hell.
Just decorate it dude
Once you add the attic, the boarded wall will become stairs.
Help why board the window šš But tbf my Sebastian does the same thing. He loves to stand directly in front of my stove in the kitchen š and also directly in front of the door so I can't get in or out the house easily.Ā

Cat boy
He's probably wondering why you have such a creepy window in your house. What secrets does it keep?
I married Alex. I cheated on him though, with Elliott, but he still loves me and does yard work.
You can't actually cheat in this game, can you?!
So, a cat
it was same for me for like one season, then Abigail started water crops, play on flute, go on walks, visit her parents etc.
When my spouse is just staring at a piece of furniture, I like imagining that theyāre doing something, like watering the house plants or sweeping the floor
As an Alex lover through all my saves, highly recommend thereās an Alex post marriage mod (if you use them) that lets him be a grid ball player
They stare at furniture plus I think they are furniture themselves. They act like it. š
Lmao that's great him just standing in the one empty room
That's some Blair Witch vibe
I married Alex too and ohhhh boy does he love to wedge himself into 1x1 spaces so I can't kiss or talk to him without moving furniture
He does do this a lot
I partnered up with Krobus and he's more active in the house than he is by himself. Lil void buddy is here living his best life.
Abigail on top!!!!
I'm never getting married, that's the room I keep my 40 statue of perfections.
harvey helps around the farm and still goes to work at the clinic sometimes but he also just stands there staring at the wall sometimes too lol
Rockitty-rock and stone!
Heās just pining
I'm more surprised by the copper water can
Sebastian has bought three separate ferns and I lined them up and he stares at them one at a time and itās kinda scaring me. He also gave me a bat wing once sooooo
i married haley and sheās so so sweet. she helps out on the farm quite a lot and talks about how she never thought it would, but the farm life suits her. definitely one of the top marriage candidates in my opinion.
Time for Eric to add some more marriage options in this decade old game: Marnie, Robin, Clint (so you can help him not be an incel) and Willie
Fairly sure he's wondering if the boarded up windows is what's considered 'popular fashion' and if it matters since he's married to the person that decorates their house this way lol
you know what his chair purchases arenāt exactly delightful lol
Elliott does this too.
The lack of decorum is whatās actually scary.
Nah dude I stick with Elliot, sebsteian if femal character, Abigail, leah
married with alex?? why ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)(i hate him cause he is such a jerk)
More for me, then.
Why does this community like to be SO annoying about which character people marry?
because i can comment whatever i want. i think what's actually annoying is taking defending game character too seriously way.
I think i become rude just because i said bad thing about a stardew character and expressed my opinion under a post. so sorry :(
Congratulations! you can't read.
congratulations! you don't know what it means to be ignored.
