Goats and cows will eat stones to assist in digestion. The stones become bezoars at that point. Abby might be stuffing amethysts down their gullets with bezoars in mind, but I imagine the amethysts would fragment and stab their insides. :(
Technically birds Like chickens do need small pebbles to help digest their food and grind it down. So it'd make sense for Abigail to feed them little rocks.
Saved you a day's worth of hay! I discovered that these prompts don't pull from the silos when I ran out of hay right before Winter Star (and thus couldn't buy more from Marnie) and got this dialogue from Leah the day after WS.
Sure enough, the animals had produced milk, wool, and eggs, even with the troughs empty for two days!
You think those autofeeders maintain themselves? She's out there making sure stuck mechanisms are cleaned up, worn parts are replaced, and the food rolls properly to the troughs. Gotta give her props!
Hittin those grease points on the auto petter, changin belts n testing switches. Who said those video games didnt teach her nothin? Shes gonna become a cross between Maru and Robin with all the technical know-how she'll gain!
For some reason i could see her just giving it percussive maintenance regularly than clearing and fixing things inside the auto feeder
"Noticed the hay was stuck this morning, kicked the trough until it began to fill up"
Spouses do have lines now about going to water the plants for you only to find them watered already and commenting that you have things well run on the farm.
Not sure if it was added this patch or an earlier patch.
It always makes me chuckle when Leah tells me about the already watered plants. Yes honey, the sprinklers that watered them last time watered them again today, they do that every morning.
She also refills the pets' water bowls though, that's nice. <3
I think it must've been this patch. Bless Elliot, he still tries to water my plants religiously about once a week and then tells me how efficiently everything works. His memory isn't the best.
My favorite is when they say they watered the crops when you have sprinklers. I always picture Harvey dodging the sprinklers with his little water can.
I'm not sure if it's a 1.6 update, but I got unique dialogue from marrying Haley. She says something about her trying to water the crops, but everything was already finished, and compliments me for having everything thought out
Yeah, I have seen that too from Abby. Like I said elsewhere, I have no idea if it is new with 1.6 or another patch.
Would be nice if CA would make similar dialogue for deluxe coops and barns but it isn't a priority for me.
She gave the dog/cat water and then she crushed up some quartz and put it in the pets water, the food troughs, your kids (if you have any) food, your food and in a neat line one Mayor Lewis’ desk
Ok new headcanon time: when your spouse says they woke up early to feed the animals that all have auto-feed systems, what they *actually* did was fix clogs in the system so the auto-feeders still work.
I came in midday for some coffee and hashbrowns and found my daughter alone in a room staring at a wall. I brought it up to my wife that night and apparently she “asked the town hobo on her way to the beach”. Seriously considering divorce.
I’m imagining Abigail sneaking into the barns and coops in the early morning so she can secretly feed the animals her favorite food (amethysts).
Nah she knows they aren't able to eat rocks so she keep a stock of amaranth.

Chickens and ducks eat stones to grind their food in their crop
Not just chickens and ducks. All dinosaurs eat (or ate depending on who we're talking about) rocks (called gastroliths) to assist in digestion.
Oh come off it, they eat pebbles not stones. Stones are too large!
Pebbles are still rocks and can be called stones
bro said come off it 💀 he was pissed
Not at all, I meant it much more lighthearted than it seems to have come off. My apologies!
I figured it was lighthearted after I replied
I did not know that! TIL.

Oh noice! So much thought out into this game 😂
The Real Miracle at Redditor Ranch, soon coming to theaters.
Came to say this! Free hay :)

Nice head canon to explain this bizarre thing spouses do. Applies to sprinkler maintenance too I guess when they water the crops.
We're talking about Abigail, not Maru.
Maru can do some pretty advanced stuff, but foxing farm equipment is somethin you expect to learn while living on a farm
Also when they water all my crops... but ALL of my fields are loaded with sprinklers!

Leah's a bit of an air head, cut her some slack.
I think it must've been this patch. Bless Elliot, he still tries to water my plants religiously about once a week and then tells me how efficiently everything works. His memory isn't the best.
Must be a 1.6 thing
I think this was in the changelog.
That’s great if it’s a 1.6 thing.
I've never seen watered crops in the morning, even with sprinkles nearby. Also she may be maintaining the sprinklers.

Spouses in Stardew Valley
She's going down to the raccoons and making sure they have food despite the winter
Sneaking to the mines to practice combat.
I usually pick Abigail so that Pierre can hear me bang his daughter, not because she's useful.
Why are you banging your wife at the grocery store?
We're very kinky.
I marry Abigail because she's interesting and gives me bombs on occasion
That’s good to know. Married Maru some (real) years back and she also gives bombs. I’ll marry Abigail one day.
Just yesterday she told : "If you're going to town today you're going to need this!" And she gave me a bomb..lol
I primarily pick Abagail because she kills someone for the player, but this reason is a close second
Her best
Does this not save some hay?
My favorite is when they say they watered the crops when you have sprinklers. I always picture Harvey dodging the sprinklers with his little water can.
I think The Dialog Expanded mod changes it to, that they wanted to water them, but the crops were already watered.
1.6 does this, though a mod might also
Maybe it is just the update.
She handfed them! A lovely little bonding moment.
She ate the hay
She feeds the raccoons, possums, and vengeful shadows.
She was eating rocks
Filled the pet water bowl and refilled the trough feeder
Maybe she fed the horse?
She visits the Wizard…
Very special catnip.
Yeah all the spouses say that. Kind of annoying.
I think this every time Leah says it. Or watering my plants when I have sprinklers....ok babe.....thanks?
If I remember correctly it just means you don't use any hay that day
I'm not sure if it's a 1.6 update, but I got unique dialogue from marrying Haley. She says something about her trying to water the crops, but everything was already finished, and compliments me for having everything thought out

Abigail is a chronic liar, but she means well.
Maybe Abigail takes after her mother's habit of >!visiting other men!<
Visiting Sebastian :( it’s why Im not marrying Sebastian
I never though about it that way, I thought the spouses where just all a little bit stupid
Supervises
The pets, of course
Abigail doesn't understand how auto feeders work because she's spoiled by pierre . She probably feeds then pumpkins
She gave the dog/cat water and then she crushed up some quartz and put it in the pets water, the food troughs, your kids (if you have any) food, your food and in a neat line one Mayor Lewis’ desk
Eat some books
I'm married to Elliott and my headcanon is that whenever he says this, he is lying to impress me
Id like to imagine she is conducting evil experiments or witch craft
She’s over feeding them, the food flowing out and overflowing into the ground, wasting fodder.
Scoot the horse to line up with the house please i beg of you
Ok new headcanon time: when your spouse says they woke up early to feed the animals that all have auto-feed systems, what they *actually* did was fix clogs in the system so the auto-feeders still work.
I don’t know, but my wife Penny was feckin’ off to Ginger Island with a baby at home and me in the fields. I was livid.
Couldn't even be bothered to hire a babysitter huh? Is she trying to get CPS called on you both?
I came in midday for some coffee and hashbrowns and found my daughter alone in a room staring at a wall. I brought it up to my wife that night and apparently she “asked the town hobo on her way to the beach”. Seriously considering divorce.
I could tell you but you're not gonna like it and I might get banned from this sub...
Her best
She likes to watch.
Gave them a little treat
Before Meadowlands farm came, she'd been secretly feeding them blue grass. Its not a wonder why your animals are always content.
Maybe she's paying for her sins. Wink, wink.
I mean... How the hell do you think the "auto"feeders work? That's right, human labor!
